CAG Beta/Feature Updates: Price Tracker, Collections, Boxart Upload, Reviews Live!

I don't know if this is the right thread, but ever since the new stats page launched I can no longer see the last time a user logged in.

It's helpful when trading to know if a user has been off the site for an extended period of time.

It's right on the user profile page...under the summary tab

Haha wow I feel stupid, I swear that wasn't there the last time I looked.

Thanks Cheapy.

Do some users have the feature disabled? I checked and noticed it still was not displayed for some people.

L'chaim Cheapy. I have two small requests.

1] I'd like to be able to show my game collection to anyone, not just CAGs who are logged in. Do you think this is possible? Maybe have an option where you can tick "Allow public viewing" or something?

2] It would be nice if I could get a visual representation of more than 1 game being currently played. Maybe 3?

1) Once collections are out of beta collections will be visible to everyone (if your list permissions are set to allow that).

2) If you're referring to user profiles, I'll be adding extra capacity to show games a user is now playing - although it's likely to be capped at 5 for the main view.

some stuff overlaps other stuff (the summary tab)

Great work on the site John. I was just messing with the collections stuff. Only thing I would echo would be one more column to the right of the rating for inputing prices.
I was adding games and here are the "bugs" i came across.

DS Game
--Ninjatown is listed as one word. I think it should be Ninja Town (2 words)
--Pokemon diamond/peal is listed as one game. I think it should be 2 seperate games.

PS3 Games
-- Echochrome is doulbe listed (triple listed if you count the psp version but that obviously belongs there)
-- R-types missing from ps3(psn) catalog
Someone should probably start a separate thread for errors/missing games/missing or wrong artwork. A few I noticed that were missing:

- Little Big Planet
- N+
- Carcassone
- Pikmin (Wii)
- Doritos: Dash of Destruction
- Axelay (Wii VC)
- Ms. Pac-Man (360)
Did everyone get codes? Or just certain people i'm a bit confused lol.

Oh, its for real. John will have a post up soon teasing the new features. I believe the new Price Tracker is up first.

In case you missed it on the CAGcast, any CAG who participated in the Child's Play fundraiser will get get first crack at the beta on or before Feb 1.

Of course there will be other ways into the beta, but they will be first.
I came across a problem.

I rated Left 4 Dead (PC) three-stars but when it shows up on my 'Now Playing' slot, it shows I rated it four-stars.

I love the price tracker. I've been wanting a game version of 'dvdpricesearch' for ages. Thanks Cheapy!

Is there a way to track the lowest price on half.com and used prices at Gamestop as well?

A lot of new price feeds will be integrated into the price tracking in the coming week.

When submitting a review, what's the difference suppose to be between the Review Title and the Tag Line? If someone could point it out to me using CheapyD's example below as I'm curious before I submit a review.
Community reviews are now active. If you've posted a review in the review forum, you are encouraged to cut and paste (and improve, if you like) into the new system.

Simply click the review button on the game info page.

It would be pretty cool if you could update the CAG achievements list with the names of all the achievements so it's easier to know which ones you haven't earned.

BTW: Great work John
Just out of curiosity, is there a tentative date for the release of this stuff to everyone?
Some more features will go out of the beta in a week or so. There's a bunch of new stuff being added to the beta any day now.

Feature request: In the game list, it would be nice to have a filter to list only beaten games.

When loading the wiki page to edit games (it's happened with every game I've tried) the page will load many of the features on the top of the page (banner, navigation, ect) then give me a pop-up error "Internet Explorer cannot open the webpage (insert link here) Operation aborted"

Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.13
Windows XP SP3

(Thanks for all your hard work!)

Tried to add little big planet and ion drum rocker to my wishlist but they are not on the list.

Also would be nice if you could prefilter by system when adding games to the lists.

LittleBigPlanet is on the list, you're just spelling it wrong as it's one word and not three. Games like that should really have multiple search strings that bring it up though.
John posted on twitter a few days ago that a couple of beta features would be released to the public this week.

Small bug: Noticed that the breadcrumb for "Game List Settings" is messed up, it's only showing "Cheap Ass Gamer >": http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/gamecp.php?do=settings
You can access game collections, wishlists, and the game database browse areas through the games menu in the navbar.

Yes, I've been playing around with it now that it's up and running. Excellent job with the coding here John!

I dig the collection feature. Just did a test run with my GC games. Noticed that a few games I own are not listed. I've looked around for a way to add games. Am I just missing it?

Maybe I missed it but why does the price tracker only list a few games? Why can't CAGs enter a game they want or browse a comprehensive list?

Anyone know? Thanks all!

Is there an actual "Request games for submission thread" or can I just ask here? Can somebody with the ability to submit games add MLB 09: The Show (PS3, PS2, and PSP) for the database? Thanks.

For reference:

http://www.us.playstation.com/PS2/Games/MLB_09_The_Show
http://www.us.playstation.com/PSP/Games/MLB_09_The_Show

Edit: There are quite a few missing games, so I guess I'll just wait until I can submit stuff.

Edit 2: How about a report button for a game to report fake or erroneous games that have been submitted?

Request: not having games that one can't really "win," like purely online games like Counter-Strike, for example, not count against your "Beaten Percentage" on the game page.

This could just be another flag when people submit games to the database/edit existing games.

This.

For right now, I just have them marked as Beaten, since well I have put enough time into most of them to be considered "Beaten" in my mind.

Just mark them as beaten.. I mean who really cares? I put my fighting games as beaten if I've put a lot of time into them... actually I'm kind of scared to check how many hours I have logged in for SFIV.

Also, there are some more games that need to be added.

For the life of me I couldn't find these games for the Xbox:

Knights of the Old Republic 2
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory

Both of those are pretty big games, that should definately be in there.

The game search is kind of screwy. I searched RE5 and only the 360 version showed up. When I searched RE4, the PS3 version of RE5 showed up.

When you rate a game in the collection screen, does that rating transfer over to the game's main page?

Request: When submitting reviews, add the price the reviewer thinks the game is worth at the bottom along with the rating.
Request: Have cross platform reviews show up on both systems game pages, rather than just the PS3 or 360 version.

Request: Accessories in the My Wishlist such as controllers, game sticks, MS Points, etc.
Request: Ability to remove certain retailers from price comparisons in game lists or alternatively have an option for price comparisons to be region based
