I figured out something today and Option is right. Ping matters to a certain degree but what makes you lag is how stable your internet is.
My pingtest results was pretty terrible and yet UMVC3 wasn't lagging.
My internet isn't but 5mb and on Speedtest it was getting around 2mb-3mb yet UMVC3 still wasn't lagging but then I noticed all of a sudden it had spikes. I caught the speedtest when it got at its worse. It read 0.3mb. Yes, 0.3mb.
So that's what I assume its doing even if it drops to 2-3mb it isn't going to cause much of a issue but for a example if its reading 4mb for example and it suddenly drops to 0.5 even for a second its going to give spikes.
That's really lame on the cable's part. Where there's so many people in the area its like they leave me with nothing at certain times. Its mostly of the night when it happens.
Now the DSL service makes more sense to me. The ping on it was higher than the cable in general and yet it played way better than the cable does so I thought that's really weird shouldn't the lower ping be better? Then I noticed with the DSL service when you do a speedtest its always the same speed. Always.
I got to noticing with the cable internet at times its all over the place which sucks and they really should fix that. Its like just because people in your area is using it. There might as well be someone in your house using your internet. Its about the same effect.
I can't get over what the woman told me the last time. She said I seem to be the only one to have any issues with the cable anymore. I wanted to say that might be because everyone in my area is old men/woman that browse the internet only and don't know the difference.
Def that DSL is better. I wish I had got it 2 years ago or whenever it came in. I can't wait to get it. They better come the 2nd. I guess its because I wanted to ditch cable so badly is why they didn't come.
Its funny to me how the cable company seems to blame the users lately instead of there service.
I noticed something else tonight. The cable company is pretty shady to do this. With the speed test somehow when you go to
www.speedtest.net instead of doing the regular thing. It is locked to a certain town that is like maybe 20 miles away at most and that is why I couldn't figure out why the speedtest was usually fine and the pingtest was horrible but I figured it out a long time how to get around it and get a true speedtest from the site. Its really sad that they make the speedtest automatically go to something insanely close that is always going to be fine. Its like they don't want anyone to know how bad there service actually is and when you call them out on it they tend to turn it around and make it the fault of the users or they will see all the info from the test and they will say well there's nothing we can do about it.
Honestly all the trouble I've had with the cable and having it for years. I wouldn't get it again when they had fiber optic unless I got to see it in action for several weeks.
