CAG PS3 Fighting Game Matchmaking Thread - Injustice out NAO!

Joey Lawrence - "Whoa"
*Backs away*

Okay...

So... How about them New York Knicks? I hear that they're going to be a real contender in the Eastern Conference.

Errrr...I haven't been online but I still play it at a friends house. Latest dilemma is no phone line, therefore no DSL. Working on getting naked DSL atm...in the mean time, phone tethering!

Dammit Option, that's FGT classified info. You guys might eventually see someone else add you on the FL list, that'd be me through my friend's console. When the time comes, I shall let joo doodz know, and my power level will be over 9000

GGs everyone, I can never beat mashin'.
If they mash, you mash, join 'em to beat 'em! Seemed to of worked well against a certain FGT.

You do the best thing to piss every Gaysblue player off. Use Iron Tager, and give them a body toss.

?! MISSED A MASH AGAINST IRON TAGER!

LOL ATOMIC TAGER BUSTER

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUu

Cool story bro.

Good games option. Sorry about having to leave so soon, but the fight pad went tits up and I couldn't play anymore. I'll play you again tomorrow once I get another pair of batteries in them.

But you sure love the Tagernanigans.

I've never been a big fan of fighting games outside of tekken, but I've been playing my friends copy of SF4 for 360 for a little bit now and I'm loving it. Think I'm going to have to go pick up SSF4 for that triple in a little bit.
option.iv, I've had SSFIV for a while now. Very awful at it.
Play with somebody who has a mic so they can tell you what you're doing wrong and how to improve.

Can anyone give me some good ssf4 tips? I've learned most if not all of akumas moves (getting pretty good firing off the supers and ultras) what I'm not so good at is when to use which moves. I cant for the life of me beat arcade on easy lol I dont lose a single round all the way through then just get raped on the rival match. Suggestions?

akuma has a steep learning curve

if you want tips for beating cpus, just jump and sweep
when the cpu has ultra, just be slightly more aware that random ultras will come out

What makes a steep learning curve? And which characters would you reccomend for a newer player? I like Ken and Ryu but outside of Akuma I haven't really tried many others.

Landing Akuma's ultra requires some guess work, knowledge about your opponent and a multitude of other things. Also, Akuma has low life compared to everyone else, so you have to make everything count.

Guile is another easy character as well.

When playing the CPU, because it know what moves you do the instant you do them, all you have to do is block and punish. Just learn how to punish other character's moves when you block them.

Ah, makes sense, thanks for the tips. You guys definitely have to play me online sometime and show me whats up. Meanwhile, looks like it's back to the training stage

played about 3 hours of online SSF4, Won a couple of ranked matches and got completely scrubbed for a good hour 1v1 endless with a random while I was using Boxer. I realized I can't execute alot of my combos into ultra/super 100% of the time online and I'm awful when I get pressured badly. :/

Pro tip:Never use 52 in. HDTVs for fighting games, even with "Game Mode" turned on that supposedly takes off the lag.
I've struggled with many challenges on SSFIV, leaving many incomplete, and found them much easier while done on a much smaller, CRT TV.

Looks like I'm switching to a smaller TV everytime I want to play a fighting game :(

If anyone wants to just beat the shit out of each other tonight I'd appreciate the practice. Ranked PSN is probably the worst place to learn how to play.

How accurate is that? I have a 52 inch and have been playing on it since launch street fighter 4. never noticed the lag though (online is a different story)..but I don't play like most of y'all. I use a pad and rock every now and then.

Its very easy to spot lag especially when your not used to LCDs with low or high response times. I LAN'd alot of Halo 2 & 3 back in the day and I played on my friends Vizio (which is shit IMO) and had a 10MS repsonse time. I was dropping headshots and 4 shots all day.

Apparently PS3 has input lag compared to the 360. There hasn't been a very scientific test for it but it's starting to become the consensus.

Though it's hardly game changing.

Apparently people have been getting different results too. Here's my personal, but non-scientific favorite that proves why you should care.

Damn, how long has it been since you've updated your PS3? It still has the old boot up logo.

It doesn't take half that long to boot up SSFIV in my PS3.

its probably because he doesn't have the game installed. Anyway, I played online and realized how shitty ranked battles are. Got ranked with 3k PP players, and probably a good 2/3 of people i played were laggy as shit.

Oh boy, Im hella salty about it right now.

playing ranked can lead to a good time and dive down into a terrible gaming session in the same night.

get in on some Endless with CAGs instead :bouncy:

These posts consider possible input delay on wireless controllers.

Long story short: The input lag is negligeable, as in the lag is not near enough to delay close to 1 frame.

However, I have noticed that when I have notifications on my PS3, the system chugs, and my game would freeze/stutter for the slightest moment some of the time. Especially if I were playing online or had something running in the back, like the text chats.

I am pretty salty about online play as well. But hey, it's the best thing for those who don't have arcades or people to play with locally. And it's convenient as hell to play someone in a moment's notice.

Mine used to do that too, it just stopped for some reason. I have no clue why, it just did. Not going to try and make any sense of it, just happy it did.
ssf4 is just depressing me. hundreds of hours into this game and i can't handle anything.

can't even land my BnBs correctly.
My advice... stop playing it for a few weeks then come back to it. You'll do much better for whatever reason when you come back to it.

Or just stop playing online. I get my ass handed to online (shit even by most of you guys), but when I play in person (I'm in SoCal, so I got THE SCENE here!) in general I play a lot better.

The most frustrating for me is landing a focus and then I bust out teleport (I play Bison). I cry inside everytime I do that.

May I direct your attention to his location...

Location: Elgin, IL

Not playing online isn't an option for most.
This is why SoCal rules :)
A single positive doesn't make up for all the negatives outside of the realm of fighters. :shame:

Don't forget, I used to live there... *shudders*

I am predicting the typical egotistical Cali response, rather than being the bigger man and shrugging it off like people should. That's one of the things I hated about living down there.

Sorry man :(
I know that you (or, in fact, all of CAG) would wreck me in SSFIV if it was played offline.

Also, I know the netcode for MvC2/HD Remix is better than SFIV/SSFIV, but it turns out it's insanely better. Me and j-cart played MvC2 without a hint of lag (well, it wasn't noticeable.) Mind you, he lives in West Coast, I live in East. We tried playing SSFIV and it was only 2 bars with noticeable lag.

Yikes.

^^ Hmmm....
