CAG PS3 Fighting Game Matchmaking Thread - Injustice out NAO!

It was all good. Sorry about leaving when I was the host. Another friend wanted to play but he didn't want to play in a lobby. Did you get footage of my dancing Sagat Esper? That was some weird SSF4 engine.

I kept giving stick issue excuses last night because of my inability to screw on a bat top. I made sure that it is on super tight now.

Need some help on plinking. How does one plink Ryu's combo: cr.mp, cr.mk x hadouken? I can do it everyone once in awhile just on rythm, but I was told that you can plink that.

I'm trying to practice with a purpose now.

GGs

j-cart - The sagat's uppercut to fadc ultra? I remember it. I don't have it because uraizen and I played around 100+
exaggerating
matches last night. If you can send your replay to me, I'll upload it.

cr.mp, cr.mk ~ cr.lk xx Hadouken, since it's the cr.mk that comes out, you'll cancel into the hadouken

you can plink with any button that has lower priority

-kicks have higher priority than punches (disable taunt if you want to plink hk~hp)
-I don't think mk~mp works since it gives you focus attack
-if you're doing crouching moves, you can plink lk with lk~lp

Wow paco, that is surprisingly accurate.

I guess that would make me a hipster ten year old who likes to cosplay as a nerdy Japanese schoolboy.

For plinking in regards to normal moves. I try to get into a habit of plinking whenever I want a normal move to come out right after another move. i.e. Dhalsim limb spam, frame traps/block strings, etc.

You can also use it for supers, and ultras.

Videos up from 10/9-10/10 endless. Look under "upload", I haven't filed it under a playlist yet.

Good games to everyone.

axc - When Seth's U2 whiffed, my eyes were wide open like a bear searching for salmon. This was my opportunity to use Viper's U1 and hopefully take the match to a final round.

I inputted the ultra and all I got was an... ex seismo. So, I was like "no biggie, 2nd chance for U1." After I launched you from the ground, I did ultra 1. Cool, it came out. No seismo. *Brings out the vuvuzela's*

But, when I saw Viper's fire-wheel of death fly to the sky with no Seth. The only word that I can think of during that time was, "fuck.................." I can't believe it. I whiffed my ultra too. Sweet.
Esper, Viper/Seth will always be a hilarious matchup.
Indeed, lol.

10/17 edit - So, I got a ragepost from my youtube channel. *pumps fist* I haven't gotten a single ragemail from this game in a long time.

Yessire Bob, I do love spam and mashed potatoes.

Edited the quote a little bit. Trying to make it PG-13 for the teens. Too much vulgarity.

Haha nice. The few msgs I get are the ones where I lose to spam and mashed potatoes and they say I suck. Too many Daigo level people online...

GGs option, thanks for giving me so many matches. I had a few beers but that didn't really change the fact that I have a lot trouble being zoned :cold:

And question -- when I try to link cr.hp after a tatsu and you get an srk out, does that mean i didn't link it or does yours have priority regardless? Because I noticed we traded on that a lot as well.

Option told me his dirty secret, he fishes for counters and option selects. Even when he told me, I still kept getting owned.

I need to stop playing random characters and just stick with M. Bison.

After you cancel with the two bars, it's not a real combo. It's great if they block the combo, so you can safely get out, but otherwise it's not a real combo (I could be wrong). Also, my srk is invincible so it's gonna beat everything except block. We traded most likely because the invincibility on the jab srk isn't that long. Honestly, I wouldn't waste two meter just to continue that combo, the damage scales pretty bad. I would rather spend it on a tatsu reset opportunity. But I'm starting to think resets aren't so great anymore.

j-cart is right, I'm trying to fish out people crouch teching or just simply mashing. So you guys just gotta be aware of that and of others and just block. But that doesn't mean I'm doing it all the time, I may throw in the good ol' throw in the mix. You just gotta try to read my mind.

edit: pf, I guess that actually is a combo, but it's supposedly hard to do. I guess I'm a jerk for throwing out srk hoping you mess up your combo. But as wit all hard links, it provides me a window to throw out something if I'm blocking, as links usually don't provide airtight blockstun.

That's right. You can't handle us. We own you. Go ahead, quit. ;)

SNK is sponsoring Oni Con which is happening right now. They're also bringing King of Fighters 13 to Texas for the con. Also there's a rumor that they're going to announce the date there. Hope it's 1st quarter next year or possibly a december surprise.

Sorry suko, I had scrub mindset going. Next time I won't let you win that many in a row.

Option sucks. Fell into my spam light punch technique lol. Actually no he doesn't, I am about 99.99998% free. I got that 0.00002% because that is the percentage of how often the buttons and what i want to come out are in perfect sync.

GG guys. I need to drop RPGs and stick with the real games.

I agree with this is any, shape, form, dimension, universe, reality, etc. possible; RPGs suck!

Nah, don't worry about that. Also, do what I do...blame the lag.

I have played Alex Valle in person, so I think I can answer this question.

Valle's button inputs are VERY LOUD and fast. There is no reason as to why he does it, but everyone that plays him believes it is his method of mindgames.

If you somehow scores a knockdown on him (for every 1 knockdown, he scores 10 on you) you'll notice he mashes the crap out of his stick, but then his get up ends up being nothing. It is just his unique way of playing.

It is said, that if can't hear his arcade stick crying, then Alex Valle isn't trying.

j's right about that. He just inputs all those "unecessary inputs" during the animation or recovery of other moves. There are plenty of players out there who just have that urge to press buttons as much as possible. If used this way, it's not necessarily a bad thing.

I probably would be intimidated by massive button sounds as I really don't have much experience with local play.

I'm a self confessed button-listener in fighting games. So when I play against friends or locals that also listen to buttons I have to come up with ways personally to least somewhat mask it.

Usually when I play Seth and I score a knockdown, I'll always piano punches like a madman, to mask what I'm setting up next. Most of the people I play (including some of my friends) listen to buttons, so what was a one time thing became created out of necessity and how it's pure habit (I really don't think about it anymore when I'm doing it)

If I'm 3/4th's screen or full screen, I'll usually madman piano on punches, or rap on buttons randomly, so the person next to me can't hear me buffering anything (especially U1). I usually buffer Ultra 1 with Seth 99% of the time, sometimes just a regular buffer and sometimes a combination of buffering/piano/rapping on buttons noisily to mask it.

This probably isn't the reason why Valle is doing what he is doing in this inputs, but it at least explains why a normal individual would just bang on buttons/inputs, but not mash.

Yeah. That is a bit weird, but a legitimate tactic. if you listen carefully enough, you can hear what they're gonna do or if they're prepping it. That component is lost online.

Having trouble inputting anything on the Google Document Spreadsheet for SSFIV. Can anybody assist? Tried inputting my info but it wont let me.

Yea, was just wondering since he's pressing RH or Fierce five times in a row. The churning and randomly pressing buttons while getting hit, I knew what he was doing there. Not to mention... it's online, so... lol.
I have to admit, my mind went blank and forgot how to block.
I mashed that EX green hand out like a mother fucker.

ON BLAST! nice one Arikado.

Anyone see the finals of SCR? Filipino Champ took out Daigo with a disgustingly awesome Dahlism. Went to the final final round.

ggs option, sorry i had to leave early, my roommates were watching inception in the living room and i couldn't resist.

i was surprised i wasn't hitting any of those links, i had been nailing them earlier in the day.

I know how you feel, fuck YOU ONLINE PLAY! I should pick a secondary that relies very little on links, just for online.

Yeah go ahead and upload stuff. Don't mind seeing myself mash and drop combos. I only saved the gouken timeout scam replay. I was wondering if you would have won with a jump in, fierce, ex thingy, then the thingy again.

The the hardest sakura mixup to block is the corner reset with a delayed j. HK if sakura does the j. hk and doesn't move, you land in the corner. if sakura just taps towards the corner a little, you land away from the corner. hard to tell since both look like you're going to land in the corner. the rest you can react to

rhythm links are fine. the ones that require a longer wait like ryu forward hp c. hp or sakura's light tatsu links. what's difficult is doing anti air at the right time with differing amounts of lag.

And that video, I'm pretty sure option isn't ever going to be doing that with dhalsim ever again. chip hp left, meaty ultra, HOLD DOWN BACK.

I'm looking at a few of your uploads, most of them are just option getting owned haha. Im jealous.

Don't worry anathema, I'll put up the ones where you beat option(Last week). Everyone has to have their own fair share of glory. And, I'll also include the ones where I'm getting my ass beat too. Win or lose, I'll put it up. I'll put up 6-8+ matches. I'm not going to put up 30 of our matches. It's too much.

I kept getting frame trapped by sakura's st.lp. I should have just blocked, I kept doing stuff on wakeup.

edit - st.lp is a frame trap right?

Last edited by a moderator:
don't know what you mean by st. lp is a frame trap, st lp into itself isn't a frame trap, but st. lp pause or walk forward st. lp leaves room for you to press buttons. so it's just a delayed st. lp which would catch stuff.

like um, ryu players can do c.mp c.mp or c. mp walk forward c.mp which changes up timings.

I saw SCR, I'm pretty sure if daigo had taken the dive, tokido would have taken it for free. I thought the best match was daigo/valle in ssf4, and where was gamerbee? didn't really see him on the stream

did you go j-cart?

I was able to stop by SCR for a bit before work (I missed Tokido's Raging Demon pose!).

I got there right when 3s finished up, so I basically was there for the Dogface stream. However I did get to play me some MvC3 and god damn this game keeps uping the unexplainable awesomeness of awesome! Looks crazy good and the little details just scream nerd love (deadpool walking backwards is him doing the moon walk, Hulk taging in Iron Man says "Metal HEAD!"). Sadly this wasn't the newest build, so no Wesker, MODOK, X-23, Mags, or Arthur. This game will be bigger than SSF4, no doubt. Super Skrull has some cheap to him (distant command throw and specials moves that must be blocked low from a distance). MvC3 get hyped!

Sako (Cammy) and Justin Wong (Rufus) played a FT10. JWong man, respect the throw is his name of the game. He would constantly get Sako on knockdown, dash up and just walk up and throw, Ex-Messiah, or block. Sako couldn't figure out his game and it was 10-2 Jwong.

Got to see Tokido's Akuma vs. OnlineTony's Seth. Too much crap was going on for me to follow. Tokido's Akuma is the truth.

I wish I had a chance to enter SCR, but alas work had me scheduled Sat and Sun night (glad I made it home to watch the finals).

Honestly, next time there is a local tournament (Westcoast Warzone?) Everyone needs to try to make it. Would be cool to finally put some faces to some names/voices.

I know for a fact that some of you guys could hold your own in a tournament.

/edit: Gamerbee did not make to top 8 so that is why you didn't see him on the Sunday stream.
