If that's another Souls game, and they do nothing but improve the graphics, I'm going to be really disappointed. After three games, the series needs more the incremental changes at this point to keep it fresh.
They need to make the games an actual challenge, like super beef up enemies and bosses if you summon phantoms.

Bosses do get increased health when you fight them with others. The games do provide a decent challenge. It's just that people rarely go into NG+ to find it, or they abuse glitches/cheats/use top tier weapons, and complain it's too easy. If you want a challenge, just stop leveling up, you can create your own level of difficulty that way. People do SL1 runs all the time for that very reason. DS2 even has challenges in the form of beating the game without using a bonfire or dying, and you will be rewarded with perks for doing so. Or go try out PVP and see just how hard things really are.

They can annualize the souls series, never improve the graphics or gameplay, and I will still buy them every year no questions asked.

Not to brag but that is my youtube channel. I've beaten the game 6 times (including 2 NG+ and NG++) across 2 characters and used Bonfire Asectics on each bonfire two times or more (which makes the game actually seem like NG++++) and kept my characters below SL120 the entire time for PvPing in the arenas and covenants.

I've been playing the Soul series of games since they hit NA shores back in 2009 and I have over 2000 PvP sessions across all the games and uploaded tons of videos for each game in the series. The game is a decent challenge when you play solo sure (at least for the first time) but if you summon phantoms in any version of the game it's a joke.

And beating the game without dying is actually not that hard, again... especially when you can summon phantoms.

So try doing a SL1 run if you think it's too easy. If you think phantoms make the game too easy, don't use them. Even with phantoms, a no death run is still a significant challenge. If you disagree, record yourself doing a no death run, obtaining the item you get at the end of it, and then you can make that claim with the proof to back it up :D

I can understand someone like yourself who has played the games so many times that they feel they're too easy now... but that's just because you've developed skill. Even if they jacked up boss health, you would still learn their patterns and dodge all their attacks anyway. Short of making attack patterns ridiculous so only the top .01% can beat them, they won't be able to satisfy the level of difficulty you desire.

You're missing the point. It's not about creating a challenge for yourself, you can do that in pretty much any game. And I didn't mean to come off as condescending or put down others. My point is the games themselves, for being touted as very hard, are really not hard to beat or get through. I know because I've co-oped for other people a lot and I can tell you a lot of people just sit back and let the phantoms run the levels for them; and to a certain degree I can understand why they do that because the host is the one who needs to survive. But that concept/mechanic in the game creates a "pussy" mentality where the host eventually just does virtually nothing and lets phantoms take all the risk.

So what I am trying to say is they should consider making the game much much harder if you summon phantoms so at least it will actually require a co-op effort instead of phantoms running the game and bosses for you. For example when you go to fight bosses have enemies and the boss or multiple bosses in the boss room cause it's too easy to distract the boss with 1 player and have another 1 or 2 players continuously attack it without consequence.

And for the record, if I wasn't focused on trophies I would've probably done a speedrun and no death run on Dark Souls II. But having plat the game, done a lot of PvP, make extra characters and write the trophy guide for the game I think I'll be moving on to other games for a while until I return to it.

Was gonna get BL2 to play with friends and then they drop that bomb. What's the point of putting it on Vita if you have to force it so much?

Have literally seen nothing of the GoW collection on Vita.

I always played BL1 and 2 by myself so I dont really care about online anyway. Only $15 for it, I'll check it out to see how it plays on vita.

I love this. I have no idea if you are in the right or even if I care but I love this. People relishing and craving a good challenge. So rare to see that.

I haven't gotten into the Soul series yet but knowing that the online help ends up lowering the difficulty in that way is disappointing. In Borderlands 2 the world got tougher to deal with the extra players.

Sadly I'm actually losing the mentality of loving a challenge. 'I've spent too much time on this' 'The backlog! The backlog!' and 'New experiences!' get in the way for me.

If you want a real challenge consider trying to complete to 100% the following games:

Capcom Arcade Cabinet

Retro/Grade

Hard Corps Uprising

Bloodrayne Betrayal

Raiden IV: Overkill

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 (without getting someone to run UN trials for you)

Hatsune Miku Dreamy Theatre 1, 2 or Extend

Time Crisis Razing Storm

Pinball games on PSN (I haven't tried these myself but I hear they are extremely hard)

DJ Hero

When Vikings Attack!

Stealth Inc

Anyways I don't mean to derail the thread, I'll stop posting about this now.

What's the cool trophy?
I think he means like the actual tiles / images of the trophies look pretty neat. Better than some games that have the same image for all of the trophies in the game.

Holy  fuck....

Child of Light is freakn Amazing. For a burned out old RPG soul like me.....not really overfond of grinding/farming JRPG turn based games, but this.....man.....Child of Light awakened the Skies of Arcadia sense of wonderment I had as a youngin'.

Not long, and with puzzles that don't require all the brain cells you have left after a long day of work. And the music, by golly the MUSIC/OST freakn knocks my socks off. I didn't know who this Cœur de pirate french chick is, but dang, I want her to do every RPG turn based game from now on. Just simply amazing and fits the mood of every area I visited in the game, had to go and buy her album -- http://musique.coeurdepirate.com/album/child-of-light

I was seriously skeptical at first, but saw someone needed a phantom (thank God for gamesharing allowing us to give games a try, even those that we never thought we'd go after), so I jumped in -- not knowing what I'd be in fer and man......best damn impulse purchase I have made in a freakn long while!

Everytime I thought, okay this indie game can't possibly top that, it does. Many party members (even some that can be missed), story that is short but sweet, dialogue that is based on rhymes, man.....reminded me of the Banjo (Grunty) series at times. The artwork and graphics is stunning, I really really really dig the art style of this Ubisoft game (and I don't usually like Ubi's games).

If you are an old soul of an RPG fan like myself, and barely have enough time as it is for a full on RPG fest. Give this game a try. One of THE Best games of this year. Downloadable only non-the-less. Can really see the love they put into the game. Man...

Oh and this is by far the freakn best kick-ass remote play game off the PS4 for the Vita there is. Just.....

Im interesed in a phantom.
Ok

Mini Ninjas + The Raven – Legacy of a Master Thief - $10

Resell: ($3.33)

1.

2.

Phantom: ($1.67)

1. Pravado

2. factor747

Don't know why rpg was saying thief was bad... decent reviews and it looks like a legit good point and click game, graphics look legit

For some reason Child of Light isn't making me go "holy shit wow" like it is every one else. I'm going to go on a limb and assume I'm one of the bigger JRPG nerds in this topic and it just seems like an average JRPG with really bad writing to me. It's definitely a good game, but I don't know if it's like "you need to play this right now" levels of good. Then again I'm only 3-4 hours in, but if no new features pop up, then I don't get what all the hubbub is about

^ What chapter are you in? I don't really have all the time in the world to play a full magnum opus JRPG/RPG game, so this game just fits in for me, and being able to do remote play with it on the Vita.....just takes the cake for me. If they release it again for the Vita in NA, I'll buy it again on my main. To me the music/mood/art-style in a JRPG/RPG makes it for me, aside from simplicity and length.

I'm not sure I've heard of anyone saying a JRPG released after the SNES era has good writing. PS1 era was ok. Once voice acting came in though, it all went downhill. No matter how good the story/writing is, if the voice acting is crap, it ruins it.

PS3 LF:

- Dead Island Riptide
- Sports champion 1 + 2
- Call of Duty: Ghosts
- Quantum Theory  [Found Disc for $12, lucky)
- Rockstar Games Collection Edition 1 [Just bought LA Noire in Golden Week Sale, I'm not a GTA fan, already own Red Dead, useless LF now]
- Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning
- Vanquish [Not in PS+, Disc be expensive, when'd this turn into a "rare" game]

Looking for these PS3 shares, I know some are not on PSN, just a placeholder, its 3am in the morning, and was just compiling a list of interested games. Will edit the above list in the mornin'

Please PM me, likely looking for Resells.
Thank You

tales of vespersia and xillia had great writing and neither had bad voice acting (besides carol from vesperia). resonance of fate had a great plot but the dialogue was too jokey, and troy baker played the main character so you know the VA is legit

also lost odyssey had great voice acting, story, writing, plot, the works

idk. the writing in child of light is just incredibly boring to me. the gameplay is just standard turn based, artwork is nothing to write home about either... maybe once i finish it i'll have changed my mind who knows

The turn-based battles are pretty average feeling but It hits the spot for me. The combination of me being a bit starved for turn-based things at the moment* and debuffs/status effects actually having an effect in boss fights is what keeps my interest.

At times I can see how someone might not be blown away by the art style. Still, everything looks like it was made with so much care and the background in particular. Tone, story, and dialogue feel where they need to be.

(Do turn-based VS games exist?)

There are tons of Japanese RPGs that are still turn based.

Grid style turn base like Agarest and Disgaea series

Simple combat turn base like Atelier series

A tons more.
