That is scary as hell. Looks like it's just me and iwarboy left.Well everyone, my luck has run out. I was trying to power through my phantoms, starting with Alien ISO. I was just playing, got booted to XMB and when I tried to restart, it was locked, followed by all my other phantoms.
So. I need an Alien ISO rental.
Also: the headache thing is a joke. I've had FAR less issues with sharing with this community than I have in another forum where access is gated. People turn this into what they want it to be. If you're here trying to be a business man and turn a profit, you're going to have headaches. If you're here trying to play games and be a part of the community....I imagine those headaches are very, very few and far between.
I still have my phantoms... So you are not aloneThat is scary as hell. Looks like it's just me and iwarboy left.

Mine are still alive as well.I still have my phantoms... So you are not alone
Nailed it.Sony would not come out and mention this at all. No company would, that just draws attention to the whole process. In the past they didn’t bring it up when they made the switch from 5 to 2 slots, but this is hardly the same thing. This is people using a loophole to get an extra share out of an account, which is technically stealing. The switch from 5 to 2 slots was made bc they saw people were using all 5 slots… WHO HAS FIVE PS3’S? It was obvious something needed to be done in that case, just as it is in this case.
It has nothing to do with rest mode/suspend/resume. Many people have posted that they didn’t use this feature and it still happened. Hell it even happened to people mid-game. I personally was always shutting off my PS4 entirely once I heard about it. It has nothing to do with Spotify either, one app’s license being created wouldn’t affect another’s, but even then I have not touched spotify and I lost my phantoms.
You can theorize all you want but people getting phantoms deactivated mid-game proves that it’s not a software issue from some kind of setting that someone has set up a certain way. If that was the case, and it was based on settings, more people would have lost them initially. People losing phantoms without changing settings also proves this.
This is what we call a ‘ban wave” in other formats – a company will have IP addresses logged for accts and can easily remotely deactivate them. Microsoft bans for license transfer abuse, not impossible for Sony to see what PS4 the phantom acct was locked into and remotely deactivate it on their end. Even if you’re offline and then sign online, if they have that acct marked to deactivate from a certain IP, it will do it as soon as you sign online. Let’s be thankful they’re not going after our main accounts / killing the resell slots by banning the accts altogether. Traditional gamesharing may be dead but selling resells are not and neither is timesharing. We will be around for a while.
Yeah it seems like every PS4 is set to randomly check all licenses periodically. They just fixed their glitch. If you deactivate a licence from a system remotely because it is broken, stolen, sold, etc. Then that system will eventually check if its licences are still valid and it will disable those who are not. As simple as that.
Actually it's pretty interesting that you only lost 1 of 2 phantoms. Most people lose them all at once.I finally lost one of the two phantomized demos last night. At this point reporting it seems like beating a dead horse so that's as much as I'll say about it...
There are NO known issues with PS3 phantoms right now. The issue is only with PS4 phantoms.Has anyone had any issues with Phantoms for PS3?!
How long did it last?I finally lost one of the two phantomized demos last night. At this point reporting it seems like beating a dead horse so that's as much as I'll say about it...
i would lend it to you but I'm scared to get locked my only phantomStill looking for a rental of Alien for PS4. Lost my share in the middle of chapter 16. Just need to finish a few chapters and then do my speedrun. Won't need it too long.
YeahIs the acct activated on your ps4?
Nah it's working good for me.Psn slow for anyone else? Took almost two hours to download a 1.5gb file. Normally takes about 20 mins or so.
Absolutely. Some niche titles are probably too low interest for the timeshare guys to bother with and assuming they don't have online components, I'd still buy phantoms and just do it all offline.I still think there's gonna be a market for cheap Phantoms. Especially shorter experiences that can be completed in a week or so. Just take it offline, plow through and whatever happens after that is whatever.
It's going to be interesting to see how all this plays out over the next few months.

Don't think they would bother. The PS4 is set up differently with how it's licensing system works and how it's designed to be online all the time. I believe they would basically have to change how it worked on the PS3 to accomplish the same thing, which at this point in the PS3's life cycle probably isn't worth the time or dev hours. So if this Sony closing the loophole, wouldn't the PS3 phantoms be affected? I mean why leave one platform alone yet shut the door on another. Couldn't be that hard to program the PS3 to phone home right? I dunno. We will see after the next firmware.
What a bunch of knobs.there goes a business

What about the dude with over 5k in phantom sales on ebay? Crazy.http://psx-scene.com/forums/f308/ps4-game-licenses-banned-account-have-vanished-after-2-50-update-128327/index2.html
wow these guys abused the system to no end. and talking bout sony going to lose money cause of it
I had this problem as well yesterday but I found what was the issue. My PS4 was using a wireless connection instead of the LAN Cable. Just make sure what you are using for downloads is the default and that should fix the issue. Unless there was a disruption in your service, of course.Psn slow for anyone else? I thought this was the case too but all my phantoms were locked at the same time. With the phantoms i'm of the opinion the reason they are getting locked is because the resell is playing the game at the same time and the new update has something to detect that, whether that intentional or a bug may not be known.
That's why the new AAA games were hit first and then slowly the other games. For this reason I will leave my phantom untouched for a few more weeks to see if it's still unlocked.
This stuff is too random to figure out what's causing the issue unless we can get a couple NASA engineers to go through all the data from the community. The only thing for certain is that if you take your system offline then you have a 1000% chance of getting dinged once you put it back online. With the phantoms i'm of the opinion the reason they are getting locked is because the resell is playing the game at the same time and the new update has something to detect that, whether that intentional or a bug may not be known.

That has been tested recently. Guest, phantom and primary slot have been played at the same time. No lock on 8 of 10 accounts, so something else must force the license refreshing. At now, no one can trigger the process with regular successionWith the phantoms i'm of the opinion the reason they are getting locked is because the resell is playing the game at the same time and the new update has something to detect that, whether that intentional or a bug may not be known.

I wouldn't say so. I was turning my internet off whenever I went to rest mode then turning it on when I played and it took about a week of doing that before it locked my stuff. This stuff is too random to figure out what's causing the issue unless we can get a couple NASA engineers to go through all the data from the community. i dont think so , Aline Isolation & Shadow Warrior Phantoms got locked on my PS4 but i never launched any one of them since i got the phantoms , more than a month before the update i guess .With the phantoms i'm of the opinion the reason they are getting locked is because the resell is playing the game at the same time and the new update has something to detect that, whether that intentional or a bug may not be known.
