Without looking at the potentials again, I gotta say I like this deal better (though, Minnesota may even be coming out ahead, as I suspect Powe's potential is maxed out, and Kolikov really swings the deal a bit). Florida is really giving up 2 promising young defensemen, but getting a beast back in return. I guess if Florida has a surplus at D, it's not a bad trade.

Ellerby and Kolikov are both rated 4 Stars. Clemmensen as you can imagine is 3 stars.

Harding is 4 stars, Suter is rated 4.5 stars and Powe is rated 3 stars.
 
Just did my last match for the week with Captain Obvious. Good game and had some good convo about hockey and teams we hate and like. Ended up winning 2-0. Afterwards I notice Cole is out 2 games with "Stomach Injury". According to Captain, it's probably because he remembered how much he hated playing in Edmonton.

As for the whole respect thing, I really haven't had too many issues myself. Although I throw a lot of hits I would say the majority of mine are open ice and some around the boards but more skating next to the person.

I am a little irritated by the Subban injury that I got earlier as it was a cheap shot. Unfortunately I forgot to save the clip at the end of the game.

As long as Price stays healthy oh well... I'll keep trucking.

Hmm... That's kind of a tough one though. That's more the programming than anything, because I have made that hit multiple times where I am coming from the same angle and hit the stick while still in front or to the side of the player and the game turns it into a check from behind/boarding. It undoubtedly comes off as a boarding, but then it makes it so that the player doing the hit is getting screwed by piss poor programming. Really it's just more proof of shitty EA programming.

So I have to pay attention to the trades to make sure I don't claim someone off waivers being traded? That's an odd set up.

I don't even know what would happen if you put a claim on a player involved in a trade. My guess is the game would explode and we'd all be sent back to 1985, where we would discover we were actually in the body of the president of EA Sports, and we'd have to prevent the EA series from ever being created in order to fix the future. That's just a guess though.

Yea definitely not well thought out. Especially since I put a claim on him yesterday shortly after it went up and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I guess we'll find out.

That and the whole injury thing are a little messed up. Capt. Obvious and I were talking about it last night. How it's kind of dumb how if you play your last game of the week first and you have an injury, you are unable to use them for the previous week's games. It really screws the team that you would play after if that player only has to miss those weeks games.

Obviously it would make things more complicated, but I can see hire the game might crash and burn otherwise.

I've seen 4 or 5 of your players thrown on Waivers now.

I recalled Garon actually up from the AHL. But that shouldnt have put Lindback on waivers.

That might be why... If you only have 4 goalies between AHL and NHL, one has to be sent down to balance rosters. If you have more they might be in the ECHL or a CHL team.

I understand what you are saying but he is going to be injured for that set amount of games either way. I like this system a lot better, rather than having to follow a strict timeline of games. I suppose you could always play your games chronologically.

I'm going to assume the trade will be nullified since there have been waiver claims put on him. It wouldn't surprise me to see him goto a CPU controlled team.

Oh I'm definitely not complaining about the system in the game... More just saying how it could be problematic late in the season.

Example: Last 2 weeks of the season, star player gets hurt in first game played which happens to be the last game of the 2 week span. Players hurt for 7 games, so instead of missing 7 playoff games they might miss only 1 or 2.

Although they had to do it this way, because then you run into the problem of what if player gets hurry in the first game and again in the previous game.

Again it's not a big deal, trivial rather, but just something we were talking about last night.

Back on topic... What all advances during each period when schedule is pushed forward? I'm assuming trades, free agent signings, and waiver claims. Anything else?

4 games, 4 injuries. At this rate im going to have to trade some of my new guys for replacement forwards

(nothing against the people I played, just bad luck)

I'm really curious as to how it will be handled. I really am not sure if I just wasn't paying attention at that point or not, or if he ended up on Waivers after the trade.

Worst case, we can reissue a trade, but with a different goalie. We more threw him in since I would need a backup any ways, but can go without Lindback specifically for the time being

Any idea what time you're going to advance it Rob? I'm anxious to find out.
 
Good game moojuice. I see that I have a DNF vs. Player of 25%. Is that a did not finish? If so I don't know how I got it because I have only played 4 games against a person. Two of them were against the same person and they were back to back. I'm really not understanding some of stuff for this game and getting sick of all the lag. Sucks Sega can't make the NHL games. I remember hearing back when the Dreamcast was around that they had some of the better sports games.

I was thinking around 10-11 est. unless there any objections.
 
So there are two trades waiting to be approved. One of them is the Iginla deal, which was discussed here and since no one had a problem with it I can send it through. The other one is between Columbus (AI) and Phoenix and was not posted here. Since it involves an AI team I'm inclined to leave it. Not sure if it will still be waiting approval for the next block, but I don't think it's reasonable to approve it considering it hasn't been brought up here, except for one vague reference by Nate. If it's not there after the advancement, Phoenix can always repropose it.
 
Well that's obnoxious. Because I didn't disapprove the trade, the game approved the Columbus-Phoenix deal.

Also, the deal between Tampa and Colorado went off fine.

ah I see my Suter trade didn't go through and I also see the AI adjusted my roster for me and Sent Brodziak through waivers. Hopefully the juggling I had to do to adjust my roster back the way i want it doesn't end up losing me players.

I sent my Availability info to the OP in a PM. Hasn't been updated yet. I'm free any time during the week from 5PST onward, except for thursdays. Weekends I'm available any time, but the best way to get ahold of me for a game is to PM me through these boards. I get the emails to my phone and usually respond to the PM's asap. I'm not always on the Xbox, so I don't always get those messages until I log on.

Scores for those games should have been swapped first game should've been the 3-0 game. You outplayed me both games though and deserved the win both times. Howard really gained my respect, some amazing saves on top of playing great defense and your puck movement really had me chasing you all over. Thank goodness our next meetings aren't until "Feb." and "April"

The Parenteau one wasn't even a great hit either, it was just along the bench between two of my guys.

Good game though. Very even, just got really lucky with that first one.

I feel your pain in those injuries (somewhat). In four straight lost Subban for 20, Cole for 2, Gionta for 2, and Moen for 4.
 
played 2 good games today against Montreal. Weird how my team was still in it even though we were out shot and outplayed badly both games. Second game was a killer we had a 2-0 lead going into the third and they tied it with 2 quick goals one being a giveaway to the point trying to get it out of the zone and he scored on a weak shot. I guess my goalie fell asleep there lol. Anyways ended up losing in OT on a nice goal.

Any chance we can update the main thread title, it still reads advancing 9/29, how much time to the next advance? And what is the current NHL schedule dates that we are up to, I am at work and will PM who I need to play once I can figure out where on the schedule we are at presently.

No. Nate is the only one who can edit it and he's in the process of a move. You'll have to look in game to see who you're playing.

If you have an apple device you can download the app, thats what I use to find out my schedule.

Though it is kinda stupid there isn't a website for it. If Ea Sports could combine the NCAA, Madden and NHL websites/apps into one it would be a huge benefit to leagues.
