Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Gen. Discussion & Info

They said it was fixed in the game but they were working on it for the beta. The fix they said for now is to just go back to the dashboard on your 360 then reload the game. After about 5 times or so I can get in but I get kicked from about the first 5 or 6 games.

When you consider all the Europeans that cheated their way into a US only wave of the beta, the lag isn't very suprising. Most of the rooms I experience lag in are people with crappy connections, or a clan of people from overseas.

Silencers are automatic, I believe. Try left and right on the d-pad for the other things, that's how I access my RPG and night vision. The challenges get you XP and unlock special things. I just unlocked the red dot sight for my SAW by getting 25 kills with it.

Actually, silencers are added on via attachment. I think you have to unlock them not sure. But I do know for sure its an attachement.

Anyone up for setting a large party tonight?

Yeah, I know it's an attachment. I was thinking he meant how do you use it once you have it, like C4 and RPGs but yeah he may not even have gotten to the attachment parts yet.
 
The COD 4 Beta is the first time I've ever played anything on Xbox Live...holy mother of god, please tell me there's a way to turn off the voice chat...

Otherwise, usual campers and spawn campers. Please tell me when this game is up and running, CAG will have games running without all of these morons.

That is, I'm assuming CAG members are decent (persona-wise, not necessarily skill) people to play with? ;)

The live community is pretty crappy as a whole. It is however pretty game dependent. Last week the CoD4 community wasn't too bad, but since this big round of invites went out it's gone down hill. Once you get the hang of muting people quickly, it cleans things up a bit. Unfortunely not all live games take advantage of the "avoid/prefer" system, so it's pretty much crap.

As far as cags, I've only played with a few and they have all been decent. I'm sure by browsing the forums you can tell some of the ones you might choose to avoid.

IDK, I think the crap that XBL gets for its community is a little overblown. I've played/play stupid amounts of Halo 2, the game with the biggest/worst players on Live. And with that H2, though I certainly did get pissed at some guys playing loud ass music, or some dumbass kid yelling, or cheaters, those types of games I encountered were less than often. They're more frequent than I like, but some people make it seem like EVERY game they get into, there's moronic people, and that's not true. I'm not saying you are Surfer, but just some people seem to act like that.

I played almost 3 hours of COD4 last night, and really had no problems. The only issue I had was the HUGE slowdown in action on that one map that's a bunch of farm houses, with the bridge? I think it's called Overgrown. I swear, 10 out of the 12 players were snipers (myself because I JUST unlocked sniper) but man, not cool.
 
Sounds like tonight is a good night. Not sure if everyone can be rounded up in time. Remember, it works on a party system.

Heh. Play some lost planet and you will see where I'm coming from. For some reason that game has some of the worst screamers/breathers/drunks. They seem to come in swarms, and terms like mute train and mute club have become commonplace. Anyway, CoD4 has still been much better then any other live game I've played, but you can definately see the changes between this week and last. I have regular groups I play with in most games, and that solves the problem quite a bit.

I personally think that any community with human beings that have the urge to scream into a microphone for no reason what so ever other than to amuse themselves has problems. I just don't recall having such problems back in the days of Socom, or perhaps I've just matured to the point where it bothers me now. I'm sure PSN is getting their too, and as more people get PS3s the worse it will get. At least I know they ban people over there for being retards.

Got to level 11 tonight, took me around 3 hours overall.

Man, that knife is NUTS. Shanking the shit out of people while sprinting with the help of Extreme Conditioning is awesome.

For me the knife is really hit or miss. I miss roughly about 75% of my knife stabs then get knifed right away by the guy I tried to knife. Pretty Lame.

Only solutions are to go to dash and try again, or let it sit there and wait it out. Usually takes 10-15 minutes. IW said they fixed it for the retail version, and they are working on a patch for the beta.
 
didn't think I was going to like this ... but it has been awsome so far. Feel free to add me. would love to get some games going with some CAGs.
