Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Gen. Discussion & Info
Oh, and lolwut/Velikost, get a mic, plz. ;) It was fun playing with you for those first few matches. I was like, "Hey! It's Velikost!" Boom. :bouncy:
I have one, but it doubles as my cellphone headset; girlfriend > CoD, sorry. Yeah, that was a bit much. I've never played the CoD CTF so that was a bit of a new experience. It didn't seem like my team was very motivated to go cap the middle one.
Wait, bluetooth headsets work with the 360??
Maybe his cell has the 1/8 input. On that topic, is he constantly talking on the phone that he can't chat on XBL even once? lol what?(pun)

lolololol. No, I just don't typically use it when I'm playing by myself, because my teammates are either silent, or loud and obnoxious. And yes, it's an oldschool cheap 1/8th stereo input headset.

Ah, okay. It's cool, Velikost. I look forward to initiating you with awkward talk and silences.
Firstly, thanks! It did. :D I saw you online last night, but it was just as I finished typing out a good night message to Flesh and DT. I had to log off before midnight to be sure I got enough sleep for today. I'm a geezer. I know.
That's cool! I was only getting on for a few anyway! :bouncy: Had to check a couple messages on LIVE then get some work done :bomb: (on that note... is there a way to check voice messages without logging on to the 360? Like from Xbox.com?). !!

Gotta jet ... volleyball is calling my name!! Have fun at COD night peeps! :D

Alright, I went back to the M16 for a little bit. It was my go to gun for awhile, and I guess I forgot how good it was; I can see why some of you like it so much. I have to say up close it has the G3 beat, but if you want to have better range, the G3 is the way to go.

I was so excited to finally unlock the STG 44 today only to find that the iron sights make it pretty useless to me. I don't get why they couldn't add a laser sight for it; it's not like blue tiger camo on a WW2 weapon is very realistic either... :bomb:

I just checked, Shan. It says, "Voice messages can only be played on your console or in a Games for Windows – LIVE game."

Perhaps they should create an iPhone app for Xbox Live? ;)

What's the STG 44?

*Google searches*

The AK? The only gun, I can think of off the top of my head, where I don't like that iron sights is the MP44. Its blockiness kills it for me.

The G3 is a decent mid-range weapon. The M16 and the RPD far outclass it. They both have ridiculous range.

If anything, the G3 might be a tad more accurate depending on the user.
What's the STG 44?
It's the MP44. From Wikipedia: "MP43, MP44, and StG44 were different designations for what was essentially the same rifle, with minor updates in production."

I used to use it in DoD, so I'm used to calling it the STG.

The only thing I dislike about the M-16 is that I sometimes get too excited on the trigger and the damn thing jams at an inopportune time on me.

Well guys, I finally got a good headset for my Xbox; my buddy gave me his Halo 2 Platronics one that he never used. I must say, it's much better than the original Xbox one and my cellphone one I currently use.

I'm level 54 right now, and I think once I hit 55 I'm gonna just prestige right away and start fresh.

i was talking with my friends at work about how we would easily spend $20-$30 on dlc with 4 or 5 new maps, 10 new guns and like 5 new perks. Why doesnt iw do this?! I have been hoping for one more map pack but feel like it will never happen now that cod:mw2 has been announced.

What a coinky-dink that this thread was bumped from obscurity.

After revisiting COD4, it further solidifies how COD4 will be the standard until COD6 comes out. Playing COD4 after WAW just highlights everything wrong with WAW.

And by golly, I missed three frags and my M16.

Im kind of curious how many people are still playing COD4 online these days. Whenever i play CODwaw its says there are around 100,000 people playing. So how many does it say still play COD4?

Ha, I did not want to hear that, I'm afraid to put COD 4 back into the xbox because I don't want to realize that it is better than WAW and I wasted 60$.

The weapons jam?

I think I may try to play some COD4 this weekend after I hit 65 on WaW. I don't plan on prestiging in WaW or if I do, it will only be one time. I have a full weekend filled with nothing to do, and I don't have any money to spend so CODs to spend my time.

I didn't see the numbers, but it took a while to get even a game of Team Deatmatch going. :whistle2:(

After revisiting COD4, WAW feels a lot more like Battlefield than Call of Duty, specifically Bad Company. Things like WAW's running, feel, and set-up time of Bouncing Bettys compared to Claymores become more annoying. :whistle2:#

That said, I'm returning to WAW, simply because it's easier to find matches and COD4 is best left as an occasional play (since I already played it tons).

I haven't gone back to WaW since last night's COD4 session, but I fear that I may be complaining about the game even more since I've had a point of reference to compare it with now.

Hey guys, I just got back into this game (forgot why I stopped playing it) and was wondering if it was worth it to still purchase the variety map pack?

You shoulda picked it up when it was on sale for 400 points :/

I would say even it you play alot, its barely worth 10 dollars.

I got it for 400, and honestly I don't think it's worth it. I haven't even played one of the maps that is on there. I think it only comes up in like Cage Match or something like that.

Chinatown is good though. Creek kinda sucks IMO but different strokes for different folks.

I deleted my map pack because I can't stand Creek or Chinatown. Broadcast is alright and you will never come across Kill House unless you are playing cage matches, so I would say no unless you don't mind camping (or you prefer to do it yourself).

I don't know I find Creek pretty average. It's pretty campy but you can scamper around there easily if you go with UAV and a Silencer. It's actually pretty good for Domination.

I like China Town too but it is really campy, I just don't mind camping. I've found you can rush decently if you start SAS. It's a good Domination map too as it semi forces the action outdoors, it's a pretty good balance.

Broadcast, like it like everyone else. Domination is a little broken with A being so far from everything else.

Killhouse is pretty much the big waste since it's only Cage Match and Free for All.

I would play COD4, and prefer it to World at War, but I just can't play it in long sessions. It is still the standard, though. I just played it too much. However, visits back to COD4 are quite delightful.

I still play COD4 - I don't know why I quit for a while either.

As far as the map pack goes, I bought it day one and I think the only map I've played is creek. Not worth it.

I too have been back on CoD 4 and brought about 4-5 people back with me from WaW. I have even had up to 12 people on at one point trying to get in my party which was a bit of a surprise, though I still find this to be my favorite online game by far.

Same. I was stuck playing COD WaW for a bit since I let my friend borrow COD4. I hated that game. The only thing I liked was that it was based in WWII ( I heart that certain point from a game side ) and the guns were semi cool. There were numerous times where dogs would eat me through a wall. Then people glitching under levels like people used to do in COD3. Pretty annoying.

I just got the GOTY cod4 edition and i didnt get the code for the variety map pack, does anyone know if they stop giving it out or do i have to call activison or the place i got the game (best buy)?

They don't give those out anymore. Haven't for a long time.

Unfortunately, that is true. Game of the Year edition does not mean it includes a code for the map pack. :whistle2:(

I would bet this game will be popular online at least until Modern Warfare 2 comes out. Any reason I could be wrong about that?

The new maps seem to cycle through twice as often as the other maps for me. They're ok and worth it for 400 points. I like them in order of Broadcast, Creek and then Chinatown. I didn't used to like Chinatown, but for some reason I end up with great numbers even if I'm slumping so now I kinda like it even though I don't.

Yes. No. :)

Well I never gave up my CoD 4 to anyone, I just played WaW until I hit rank 57 and decided I couldn't stand it. I loved WWII games for single player, there hasn't been a multiplayer one I have liked yet. I only tried CoD 2 once online recently, so that is a bit of an unfair judgement on that one since I am sure the online was amazing for its initial release and I hated CoD 3 before all the glitching even appeared because of vehicles (those ruin the fun for me in a shooter where I think guns should be the main thing used, not grenades/ grenade launchers/ vehicles).

WaW could have been a great game if they had done their job instead of copying and pasting CoD 4, throwing in some vehicles, and changing weapons and maps. I enjoyed the weapons somewhat and even the maps, but glitches and overuse of vehicles completely killed the fun. The dogs were terrible, I don't think I should have to put an equal amount of bullets into a dog that I do a person that should have some armor, nor do I think there should be as many dogs as there are, I have an easier time taking down a helicopter by myself then killing 2-3 dogs.

I wish they dropped the price of the map pack to $5. I'd bite then, cause $10 as it is seems overpriced for four maps, especially since I hear they're played once in a blue moon in matchmaking.

you're correct. There are still a ton of people playing Modern warfare as we speak. You know we're all waiting for Modern warfare 2 :)

Discount on map pack, double xp weekend, and new playlist coming next week:
Time to finally finish getting to 10th Prestige! I sent out the call a week or so ago asking who would be down for a Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare all-nighter on the last weekend of Feb. and you guys answered the call. So many responded to the Twitter posting infact, that we decided to make it an even bigger deal. So here’s the plan.
Starting Tuesday Feb. 24th, the Variety Map Pack will become %50 off for those of you who still need to pick it up, leading up to the promotion, I’ll also be giving out tokens to download it for free on Twitter. When the last weekend of Feb. hits, starting Friday Feb. 27th and going until Monday morning, we’ll be flipping the ol’ mighty Double XP switch one more time!
That’s not all though, I plan on pulling an All-nighter on Friday the 27th in my attempt to finally reach Level 55 10th Prestige, and I want you guys to help get me there. To do that, we’ll be adding a new playlist to the rotation. The HARDCORE HEADQUARTERS playlist will be added on Friday 27th along with Double XP for the most XP heavy sessions you will ever see. Who’s down for a little Hardcore Headquarters on Shipment?! Carnage will ensue.
The 50% off Map Pack, Hardcore Headquarters playlist and Double XP includes Xbox Live and Playstation Network!
Anyone and everyone can participate, no sign-up, no anything. Just pop in the game on Friday the 27th and play. We’ll handle the rest.
I don’t know, I have a gut feeling that 10th Prestige is a good place to be…
