Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 - July Elite DLC out now, Terminal free for everyone

Quick-scoping is an absolute joke... I went back to MW2 a couple times in the past week, and between the OMA and Quick-scoping it is enough to make you sick. I still would like to see the tube because it is always nice to use on people that like to sit in the same spot all map and camp. The tube is also somewhat nice in objective-based game modes on the bigger maps and your team gets screwed on the spawn and end up a long ways away from the objective. I guess if it is taken out I wouldn't care that much since I know I wouldn't have to worry about some jackass tubing all match.
Grenade launcher attachment is a main part of the multi-player? You must be one of those fangled "noob tube" kids.

If they don't take it out, limit it to a single round and make it so you can't pick up ammo for it. Any gun you pick up with the attachment on it has 0 ammo in it regardless of whether the person using it ever fired it.
you must be one of those kids who gets mad and whines everytime you die on cod. wipe the tears off your face and get over it the gernade launcher will be in mw3.

Hopefully the noob tube is more like it was in Black Ops, where you actually had to aim near your enemies to kill them, as opposed to MW2 where you could shoot grenades in any random direction and kill anyone within a 2 mile radius.

How will I ever respond to a random 15 year old kid talking shit to me on the internet?

If you didn't think the grenade launcher was broken in MW2 and slightly less so in BO I want what you're smoking.

I offered a viable change and all you can do is sling some shit in a reply because I made an off-hand quip? Good on you.

(Perks)

Perk 1 :

Name: Covert
Feature I: The first feature to the Perk 'Covert' stops the enemy from viewing their killcam when they are killed by you. The main feature also prevents deathmarks from being placed when you kill a member of the enemy team making it hard for hostile forces to pinpoint your location.
Feature II: The second feature to 'Covert' allows you to remain hidden from enemy UAVs. In addition you will no longer render a red name or crosshair when an enemy is close to you.
Feature III: The final feature is as expected, you remain hidden from all enemy killstreak rewards making it easy to venture throughout the map without having any trouble from any killstreak reward owned by a hostile player with the exception of Counter UAVs.

Name: Recon
Feature I: The main feature to the Perk 'Recon' allows you to gain killstreak rewards with one less kill than normally required. This is the 'traditional' feature to Hardline in the last two games.
Feature II: You can now switch your airdrops one time for a chance to get a better reward by double tapping the Square (ps3) or the X (xbox). In addition you can also capture enemy airdrops faster. And finally you can detect when a hostile has booby trapped an airdrop.
Feature III: The final feature is slightly more complicated. Let's say an enemy calls in an airstrike, well on your screen you will see a long red line showing exactly where the airstrike is going to hit, this is also shown on your minimap. The same goes for when an enemy calls in a helicopter, you will be able to see exactly where they called it in to. Overall this Perk is mainly for players who want to benefit with their team and on their own depending on which features they choose to act on.

Name: Specialist
Feature I: The main feature to this Perk allows you to move faster similarly to Lightweight from previous games. Not much else to say about this.
Feature II: The second feature to Specialist allows you to run for a longer duration much like Marathon from previous games. Again, not much else to say on the second feature to Specialist.
Feature III: The third and final feature of Specialist allows you to walk crouched or prone faster.

Name: Scavenger
Feature I: Pretty obviously the main feature to Scavenger allows you to resupply from dead enemies, from this you can resupply rounds and lethal grenades.
Feature II: The second feature to this Perk allows you to resupply tactical grenades and equipment from dead enemies.
Feature III: HAVEN'T DECIDED.

--------------------------------------

Perk 2 :

Name: Sleight of Hand
Feature I: The main feature to Sleight of Hand allows you to reload all weapons faster. Not much else to it.
Feature II: The second feature to Sleight of Hand gives you the ability to ADS faster.
Feature III: The final feature to Sleight of Hand allows you to switch weapons faster. Not much else to this Perk.

Name: Reflexes
Feature I: The main feature of 'Reflexes' allows you to use your knife a lot quicker.
Feature II: The second feature to 'Reflexes' grants you less flinch when shot at.
Feature III: The final feature to 'Reflexes' allows you to crouch/prone/stand up a lot quicker.

Name: Sharpshooter
Feature I: The main feature of this Perk doesn't reduce your recoil but it makes it more controllable and more predictable. For example, it will recoil more in the middle and top rather than to the left and right every so often, this Perk doesn't decrease recoil, that's what Grip is for.
Feature II: The second feature to Sharpshooter increases your hip fire accuracy.
Feature III: The final feature to Sharpshooter reduces your idle sway, you can also hold your breath longer if you have a sniper rifle equipped.

Name: Bling
Feature I: Allows you to equip three attachments to your primary weapon (default being 2).
Feature II: The second feature to Bling allows you to equip two attachments on your secondary (default being 1).
Feature III: The final feature to Bling allows you to equip two pieces of equipment.
NOTE: This Perk cannot be combined with a Grenade Launcher, and normally Grenade Launchers take up two attachments.

Name: Weapon Master
Feature I: The first feature to 'Weapon Master' replaces your secondary with another primary weapon.
Feature II: The second feature allows you to drop no weapon on death.
Feature III: The third and final feature allows you to equip a pistol of your choice along side.

--------------------------------------

Perk 3 :

Name: Bandoiler
Feature I: This Perk is pretty much the pro to Scavenger along with some extra helpful features. The main feature to this Perk allows you to spawn with full ammunition at the start of matches and every time you respawn. Very helpful when it comes to big games, combined with Scavenger this feature makes it dominant.
Feature II: The second feature to this Perk allows you to have up to two lethal grenade slots and three tactical grenade slots. You also spawn with the extra grenades.
Feature III: The third and final feature of this Perk allows you to hold three extra magazines onto your loadout. So if your gun usually holds 200 bullets and each mag was 30 bullets you would end up with 290 bullets, if you combine this with Scavenger it will be dominant over one man army and teamplay operations.

Name: Tactician
Feature I: Allows you to take no falling damage.
Feature II: You can throw grenades quicker and farther.
Feature III: The final feature to 'Tactician' allows you to reset the fuse on grenades when throwing them back.

Name: Infiltrator
Feature I: Your footsteps are silent.
Feature II: Enemy equipment no longer affects you unless it's a proximity explosive.
Feature III: Your knifing, defusing, reloading and etc is now silent.

Name: Engineer
Feature I: You can see enemy equipment through walls.
Feature II: You can now booby trap enemy airdrops and you can hack enemy equipment.
Feature III: Finally, you can defuse the bomb quicker in bomb based game modes.

Name: Navigator
Feature I: Enemies who have shown on the radar now last longer before fading, in addition it also shows the direction enemies are facing.
Feature II: You are no longer affected by Counter UAVs.
Feature III: Finally, enemies close to you will get their radar slowly jammed, the closer they get.

More rumors... These scream bullshit to me, but I thought they'd be interesting to post. A lot of them seem to be a bit ridiculous like Covert and I don't think IW would take so many things from Treyarch. It lists Scavenger and Bandolier. Marathon seems to be missing as well, which I doubt they would remove.

EDIT: Seems like a fan made list that turned into a rumor that got out of control.

Interesting post Trak... Those actually seem like they would be pretty decent. Marathon being combined with Lightweight would be alright.

I do like the 3 levels idea...

I'm definitely looking forward to see what they unveil at E3.

G4 has a preview of some single player levels information. No multi though.

I also like the 3 tier perks idea, I could use a cold-blooded pro PRO:

Step 1: Invisible to radar
Step 2: Invisible to IR, aircraft, sentries, etc.
Step 3: Completely invisible

why? that's fun :bouncy:

I'm cool with all those dumped from Trakan's post except for the nuke. That and OMA are the only things I wanted them to take out of MW2.

No perk for last stand/second chance?.... you now have my interest.... for now.

I swear if that was in the game, i wouldnt even think about buying it.
Wait, you can't make videos anymore with Elite?
Im just speculating what might come for MW3. I can still make videos in black ops. But i saw in some video that you can watch videos from the elite site. Which gave me the idea that maybe you would have to pay for elite to use theater. IDK, but i hope not. Hopefully its like Halo where they give you 6 slots like black ops, and subscribers get 25 slots or more.

There is a rumor that the tactical nuke is gone.
It's a fair guess that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will follow in the footsteps of last year's Call of Duty: Black Ops, shattering sales records and bringing even more people to video games.

But it's typically not the single player campaign, detailed here, that draws in those record-breaking numbers. While many, including myself, enjoy the Call of Duty campaigns, it's the multiplayer that has managed to shift the Call of Duty franchise from a video game to something more akin to a sport.

People play pick-up games of Black Ops, Modern Warfare 2, even Modern Warfare, like they play games of baseball, soccer or shoot some hoops. Like it or not, consider it innovative or rehashed gameplay, the Call of Duty franchise has in many ways transcended what it is to be a video game.

So here's your first, unofficial look at what we can expect from the bread and butter, the heart of Modern Warfare 3 when it hits this fall. Do keep in mind that while the details of the game's single player campaign, first reported by Kotaku via inside sources and later seemingly verified with the official release of a trailer and matching levels, are likely mostly locked in stone. What is delivered with multiplayer could easily shift. Multiplayer is often tweaked after the game hits. It also receives a number of downloadable content packs post launch. With the advent of Elite, that's even more likely.

That being said, here's what our inside sources are telling us we can expect from multiplayer.

The game's multiplayer will be divided into cooperative Special Ops maps and traditional multiplayer maps. There will be no zombie modes in this game, not a surprise since zombies were introduced to the Call of Duty franchise by Treyarch and have, so far, popped up only in the Treyarch-developed games.

Special Ops will include both a survival, horde-like mode and a mission mode, with a total of a dozen maps and missions to choose from between the two.

As we've previously reported, there are 20 maps being worked on for Modern Warfare 3's multiplayer.

It is unclear how many multiplayer and Spec Ops maps and missions will come with the game and how many will be sold at a later date as add-on downloadable content.

Key to the multiplayer experience is the ability for players to level up their characters and unlock perks to modify the effectiveness of their equipment, character and enemy equipment. The multiplayer matches also include killstreaks, which are special one-time rewards that are unlocked after a player kills other players a set number of times without dying.

As could be expected, developers Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games have been working to tweak both killstreaks and perks for Modern Warfare 3.

The biggest new addition to the game that we've heard of so far is the creation of Team Perks. These are perks that a team can work toward to earn. It is unclear whether this will be tied to clans or some other team system, but their inclusion could help push the game into a more team-driven title, something the premium Elite service is likely to tie into.

While we don't know the total number of team perks coming to Modern Warfare 3, we have been told four of them:

Stopping Power: Increased bullet damage.
Blast Shield: Unclear
Health Regen: Regenerate health over time.
Stun Protection: Prevent stunning from flash grenades.

New perks coming to Modern Warfare 3 include:

Blind Eye: This makes you immune to computer-controlled and player-controlled killstreaks. The pro version makes your launchers lock on faster and gives you extra bullet damage to vehicles.
Assassin: This makes you immune to UAV, thermal, and heartbeat sensors. The pro version also makes you immune to CUAV, EMP and no longer shows your name in red or the crosshair in red when you're targeted.
Point Guard: Every two assists count as a kill towards your killstreak.
Dead Silence: You make no noise.
Recon: Gives you a special kind of radar to spot enemies, most likely. We're not sure on this one.

We're not clear on how many or which previous perks will be coming to the game, but it sounds like the ones that do return will do some from Modern Warfare 2, not Black Ops.

There will also be a bevy of new killstreaks to play with in multiplayer. Here's the rundown on the latest thinking:

EMP Grenade: Temporarily takes out all area electronics.
Littlebird: A tiny remote-controlled helicopter.
Precision Airstrike: Calls in an airstrike on a targeted area.
Stealth bomber: Calls in a B2 Spirit to carpet bomb along a line designated by the player.
Remote Turret: A remote controlled turret.
Directional UAV: A UAV that can be directed into areas to scan for enemies.
Remote Mortar: Direct a mortar team using a zoomable camera view of the map to call in strikes.
Airdrop Trap: A booby-trapped airdrop.
Ammo Resupply: An ammo reloading airdrop.
Escort Airdrop: A protected airdrop.
Specialist Strike Package: This one remains a mystery to us.

While it's likely that some of the killstreaks will drop out or be added in, we've been told that the team has decided to remove the controversial Tactical Nuke killstreak from the game.

Other tweaks being looked at by the team include making sure things like exploding barrels not counting toward a player's killstreak tally.

We've also learned, unfortunately, that this latest Call of Duty still won't support dedicated servers, instead relying on the hosted servers found in previous iterations of the game. Dedicated servers were removed from the Modern Warfare games starting with Modern Warfare 2. (Modern Warfare 3 appears to be using DemonWare for player authentication, just like with Call of Duty: Black Ops.)
Robert Bowling confirmed on his twitter that Stopping Power, OMA, Commando and the nuke are all out. I'm happy with that news.

So some of that kotaku rumor list is false. I highly doubt there will be 20 maps on disk. I hope the point guard perk is true. I get an abnormally high amount of assists.

I like that OMA and Commando seem to be gone. I liked the nuke, but I can live without it. I'm disappointed that Stopping Power/Juggernaut won't be back. It gives people essentially a fourth perk and encourages one of them to be Ghost/Cold Blooded. It looks like from those perks that they're making it that you have to wear two perks to get total protection from killstreaks, though, and I like that. One perk for UAV protection and one perk for Killstreak protection. If that exploding barrel part is true, it looks like stacking killstreaks is back, which I like.

I love the idea of team perks, but it's just going to make the good teams better.

Still no dedicated servers? Balls.

I'm kind of confused as to what Blind Eye means. "This makes you immune to computer-controlled and player-controlled killstreaks." So...you can't get killed by killstreaks?
There is no Stopping Power period. We also have no such thing as 'team perks'. All other #MW3 MP details remain undisclosed.
So much for Team Perks.

Trakan, highly intelligent robots can't count as high as the number of times I've heard you scream "YOU JUGGERNAUT F****T" whilst playing CoD

Also, I got a copy from my cousin, I'll be on MW2 at some point tonight.

Your world famous shitty memory never ceases to amaze me.

No, all you did was trade one rage for another between Juggernaut and Painkiller

I can't tell whether you guys are actually arguing or just busting eachothers' balls.

Anyways, I'm a bit disappointed that there aren't any Team Perks. Would've helped keep people from being lone wolves the whole time. I'm glad there isn't any Stopping Power as well, I always hated having to use that in favor of other perks. If Stopping Power, the Nuke and One Man Army/maybe noobtubes are gone, I'm a happy camper.

Trakan is just dumb.

I'm kinda disappointed that there aren't Team Perks either, but like Trakan said earlier, it would probably ruin the experience for a lot of other people since all they would do is make better teams even better. Not that I give a shit really, if you're not playing these MP games with a team and you're getting crushed all the time, not my problem.

Fixed.

Updated the OP with the new E3 single player gameplay trailers and the returning weapons from the trailers.

Guy from Machinima got to play MW3's Spec Ops.

I shot the MP5K (yes, with a K), ACR, AK, Model 1887, and M16. The Model had a 4 round chamber instead of 2, all guns had more kick than MW2
I used a pred missile too. It starts you off hovering instead of mid descent, RT to boost, was harder to use (which is a GOOD thing to me).
The MP5K actually had a lil LESS kick than MW2, which is good because in MW2 it kicked like a mule
AK had a LOT more kick, upper right recoil pattern, fairly high spread

fuckity fuck. Robert Bowling (@fourzerotwo) did a Q&A on reddit and confirmed that, as of now, quickscoping is and will be in the game.

Moves like this encourage the campers.

I'll still be getting the game and killing campers with my ACR, unless they nerf it.

so everything is a rumor at this point? wasnt mw2 sealed pretty tight leak wise, like leaks of perks not coming out till september-ish?

Ohhhhh shit. Now were getting somewhere.
Loved: High gun damage, gun on gun focus, depth of features but simplistic in design.
Less-loved / removed: OMA, Commando, Overpowered Explosives, Nukes, Last Stand aka Second Chance perk.
No more fucking Last Stand.

Will there be Theatre mode?
Yes, but the exact implementation of it is not finished. Its important to look at features and make sure they're optimized in a way that does not affect frame rate or gameplay for the sake just having it.
Will there still be a knife monkey class?(along the lines of mw2's commandopro/lightweightpro/marathonpro/tac knife/carepackgemarkerpreupdate)?
Absolutely not. We've removed commando and have re-balanced the knife melee to be the "in a pinch" or "unsuspecting fool" tool that its meant to be, not a default go-to weapon choice.

You should never bring a knife to a gun fight.
We have completely re-vamped how "killstreaks" work in Modern Warfare 3, however its far to early to start confirming details.

Are attachments unlocked like MW2 or BO?

Neither. We have a unique new way that weapon attachments and upgrades to your weapon are earned in Modern Warfare 3.

In terms of MP balance and play, are you all viewing this as a natural iteration from MW2>Black Ops>MW3? Also, will killstreaks stack?

I think of it as COD4->MW3
We've completely re-vamped the "killstreak" system, so the question doesn't really apply. Its too early to go into detail though.

From the looks of it, this is turning out to be a great game. I'm glad they're balancing everything out from what we're saying.

I actually kind of liked Last Stand, though. :(

YES NO LAST STAND! WOOOOOOOO! OMA is good that its gone too. I remember i got a nuke just by using OMA+NoobTube. LOL. But kinda sad to see no nukes. Though the nuke effect was a letdown in MW2.

Almost sad to see no Last Stand perk. I didn't use it much in MW2, but I've been using it a bunch in Black Ops. I replaced Hacker with it when I started using Flak Jacket.

Guess I'll go back to using whatever explosives finding perk they put in.
