This is what reset stats does. I'm glad it's not just stats and also affects your prestige level otherwise people would play like retards on purpose knowing they could just erase it at the end of the prestige.

if halo reach is an indication, the challenges will be for everyone, and maybe elite exclusive ones on top of that
 
im guessing the point is added for all strike packages? ive yet to see gameplay of that sniper...but is there a silencer on it? some of the kills sound silenced while others dont.

The SAM might not be to bad to use even at 8 points. Especially since it is a support streak so you can keep getting them even when you die. It is also nice because unlike the SAM in Black Ops there is no delay. It shoots what appears to be 4 missiles at once compared to the one missile and the a delay like in Black Ops. For me I probably will use it seeing as how stupid it seems most people are. I have had sentries and SAMs in really open spots where they were easily accessible and had them last until they just self-destructed.

A few things confirmed by Robert Bowling on Twitter.

- Team Defender is a new game mode where you grab a flag, run with it, and defend it on the move to score points as a team.

- Online splitscreen MP is returning.

- Theatre mode is returning.

- There will be a barebones playlist.
 
So basically they just copied oddball from Halo, nice.

Also very glad to see theater mode coming back, would of been foolish not to.

Hooray for the new game mode, Oddball in Halo is a pretty fun mode. And double hooray (get it, double?) for the splitscreen MP. Just praying that they have some kind of way for the 2nd player to keep track of his stats.

Even if they had a system where Player 2 needed to have a different account that he could sign in with. So Player 1 will play on the normal "IlikeCOD" account and Player 2 can have his own online account "IhateCOD". Get it?

Just a heads up, another CAG that I am friend's with said that the Gamestop he works at in St. Louis is sold-out of pre-orders on the Hardened Edition already. So just a heads up to those looking to get it. I personally was just going to pick it up at KMart, but now I'm thinking I might pre-order it at Gamestop to be on the safe side just in case the KMart I usually go to doesn't get too many or gets hit by El Hoardo like they seem to be for other games lately.

Probably never, because Kmart doesn't take preorders. Well maybe back in N64 days, but I doubt it. Upside of that is you can usually walk in there day 1 and get whatever new release you want. (That included the prestige edition of Black Ops, in my case :D ) It's not a midnight launch, but its usually good enough for most people.

Anybody going for the Elite service? Seems like they're trying to add a fair amount of value (all the DLC, post game video analysis...).

Yea I'll be doing the Elite as well... The DLC is worth it alone in my book since I always buy it anyway. Not to mention the challenges and competitions aren't too bad either.
 
For the "Returning Guns" section, I saw a P90 in one of the videos a month ago. I don't know which video, but I am for sure it was in it. It's been my favorite gun since seeing it in Goldeneye. (had a nerdgasm when it was in Stargate)
 
Can't seem to find this answer, but has 3rd person multiplayer been confirmed? thats pretty much my selling point and why i played so much MW2

bowling has said via twitter that there will be "core, objective, and niche" playlists iirc. that would probably be niche.

This plan sees bottles of Mountain Dew and packets of Doritos coming with 10 digit alphanumeric codes which players can redeem for double XP time in Modern Warfare 3. A 20oz Mountain Dew package will net a player 15 minutes of double XP, a 12 pack will score them 45 minutes while a Wal-Mart 20 pack will allow 90 minutes. 32oz fountain cups, meanwhile, will score 15 minutes of double XP. Combining any Mountain Dew with a bag of Doritos will make a player eligible for a weekly "combo bonus" which nets them an additional 15 minutes of double XP. Ah, there's nothing like healthy eating.


Players are limited to 750 code entries during the promotion period, and a maximum of 24 hours worth of double XP. That's still a lot of Mountain Dew.


You'll be able to start redeeming codes from Mountain Dew and Doritos from October 10 at 12pm ET, and the promotion runs until December 31.

They got rid of 3rd Person Cage Match IIRC, because it was used extensively for boosting. 3rd Person Team Tactical still remains. It's fun. I hope it returns... I wish Black Ops had it as well.
 
have they announced how many map packs they'll release and what the contents may be? i heard a map pack a month from a friend(which would mean 12 packs i guess) but i remember hearing 4-5 map packs being planned.
 
I heard 4 map packs. Elite gets like "1 piece of DLC" every 3 weeks or something. Could be maps or spec ops missions or something, I don't know.

They have been saying monthly DLC but haven't really given too many specifics. As for how often, I recall hearing either Schofield, Bowling, or Condrey mention a period of 9 months.

As for what might be included Bowling stated this in an interview with MCVUK:

Does ongoing post-launch support directly correlate to the number of hours people put into the games? How extensive is Infinity Ward's post-launch plan?

It definitely has a big impact on people continuing to play the game. The core gameplay is what makes them stick around, but the support is essential. With Modern Warfare 3, we have an extreme focus on post-launch support, and that was baked into the entire way we designed the game. Obviously we don't start thinking about DLC until we've finished with the core game, but we've baked a lot of things into the back end which will allow us to do the free updates, addressing player concerns, adding stuff to the game more quickly and efficiently than we've ever done before.

But then there are also things like playlist updates, changing game modes, introducing new game modes based on user feedback, there is now a ton of private match options that allow the player to create their own game modes. They can take existing modes, change the parameters and spawn sets and then take those game modes and turn them into their own completely personal playlist, and using Elite can share that playlist with the community as a whole.

So what I will personally be doing is playing those lists and watching those lists and seeing which ones people are voting up. We'll be using that information to introduce even more game modes and playlists to players, so not only are you getting new content, maps and weapons that players want, but also a heap of ongoing new content well after launch.

Damn this is something I hadn't noticed.

It looks like different weapons in the same tier can now have different mobilities. For instance, you can run faster with one assault rifle than another.

I also read that the M16 fires its bursts slower now, and you can put rapid fire on it so they fire faster.

if you didn't notice, using the scar was like being a turtle, with 200 lbs strapped to your back. or maybe it was my imagination....but the scar definitely felt slower

edit: damn, why is the g36 and cm901 so heavy?!?!
 
Is anyone getting the console. I am getting the MW3 console but judging by the way the gears console sold (almost instantly) here its gonna be completely impossible to find at stores. Ordering from Amazon or pre-ordering at gamestop is likely my only option, and I am choosing Amazon. I like the colors of the console and its a good value for what you are getting. I have no intentions of playing the game so I will be selling it but keeping the extra controller. COD is the most popular franchise here probably even more popular than gears so its gonna be hard to find.

Smart promotion, even though I like neither of the products. I stopped drinking soda and now I can't drink any without getting totally hyper. I did manage to drink a couple Diet Dr. Pepper's though so I could get the Mass effect 2 DLC.
 
Really enforcing the gamer's diet stereotype, but they wouldn't do it if there wasn't some fact behind it.
 
I don't drink Mtn Dew but might buy a couple for some double xp. It's not like they are tie in the double xp rewards with buying a whole wheat loaf of bread.
