So in regards to the DLC talk a few posts back...
- Bowling has said numerous times that there has been no work done on DLC yet. He said that once the game is out is when they will begin to work on it (whether you believe that or not is up to you).
- DLC has been rumored to start in January, with Jan. 3 stated as the first date.
- They are slated to release 20 DLC pieces.
- It was originally a 9 month plan for content, but there has also been info thrown around that it would be weekly or bi-weekly.
- All DLC is available to 360 Elite members, then PS3 Elite members, followed by non-Elite 360 and lastly non-Elite PS3.
- It has been said that content would be bundled every so often for the non-Elite members. So I would expect every 4-8 weeks.
As for the maps being cut out, I would definitely agree that some of those maps will end up being DLC. It has happened since MW.
Here are some maps that were cut from MW and used later on:
Broadcast - used in the MW Map Pack and could be found in the files on the disc prior to patch 1.6
Facility - never was used under that name, but is almost identical to Fuel which was released in MW2.
Favela - cut from MW's Map Pack and used in MW2 instead
Invasion - cut from COD4 prior to launch (files of mini-map and load screen on disc) and then was supposed to be in the map pack... Later used in MW2
Also they cut night versions of District, Ambush, Overgrown, and Strike from MW.
MW2 didn't have any maps that were cut and then used as DLC, but they had about 8 maps that were cut out and half of them still had files on the disc. On PC you could play two of the maps by using different mod tools.
So I guess don't be surprised if some of the cut maps end up as DLC, but it isn't necessarily that they were cut just to be DLC, but rather to improve the maps so that they are playable.
