This. I've been wanting a ME1:LE forever. I preordered the ME2 LE. Wasn't going to take any chances on it. Going to do the same for ME3's LE.
 
ME1:LE goes for quite high. Someone got one for $35 from Amazon Warehouse recently, but I doubt that'll happen again. It's one of those LE that really was LE.

it only came out in a box set as far as i know. Its gone down in price too, usually around 20 bucks or so. I actually havent played it yet. It got really bad reviews mainly for technical problems I hear the load times are abysmal

this. Its really a limited edition not one of those fake LE's thats common these days. I regret never getting one back in the day since its one of my favorite games.. still havent played 2 yet though. Bioware pissed me off with never patching DAO

At first I thought this was a joke maybe, but unless it's GS pranking us, it's legit. I for one am pretty excited for this price.
 
So do I buy it on 360 or PC? hmmm... I think the 360 would have better resell value. I already own the game on PC (where I intend to play it).

Thanks man! I grabbed one as well as a Killzone 3 HE ($80) and an Endwar w/ PS3 Bluetooth headset ($40).
 
I snagged a Fallout:NV CE for 360 at my local Gamestop. They actually had about 5-6 left of various flavors. I was torn between PC and 360 but opted for 360 simple for resell value later on.

I'm going against my conscience on this one: FPS on PC only!!!

I did as well, but at least I played New Vegas a lot so I feel like I got my value for buying at full price, unlike some other Collector Editions I've bought.

exactly my thoughts. ME is the only one I plan on paying full price for.
 
Picked up a Fallout New Vegas today from Gamestop. Thanks for posting about it. There were quite a few in my area strangely, but the store I went too didn't have them in the front. You'll probably have to ask to even see it.
 
Grabbed the last copy of New Vegas CE (PS3) from my closest store, so of course it was opened. Technically, the game and the extras are still sealed but the box is opened. I also bought Warcraft III battle chest for $10, since I've been wanting that for a good while.
Being the cheapass that I am, I asked about the discount for getting the last new gutted copy of the games - the guy helping me at first said they don't have that policy, and then said even if he applied it, these were part of their "power sale", so it would have to come off the regular ($70) price. No big deal, fantastic prices and the games are *basically* new. Would have been nice to get another 10% off though :D
 
I picked up FO:NV CE, too. I was going to wait for the GOTY edition so that most of bugs would be fixed. But I'm a sucker for reasonable priced CEs.

lucky you. No ps3 ones anywhere, just 1 gutted 350 version here. I dont think id buy a gut for a CE, ever.

LOL @ trying to get a discount for it being open.. they seem to still consider it new somehow. I dont understand what logic they use for that. It wouldn't fly with any other company on the planet. Selling an open item with glue and stickers all over it that people have done who knows what to the contents as brand new

I have a few pictures on FaceBook of what I have but there is so much out there... it gets very expensive and also tempting. I bought the Lunar during the Black Friday sale (reg. version) but now the limited edition is on sale at Gamestop. Also, Mimana...had it regular but Aksys often has sale on the box set with the CD. Just traded the reg. version of Mimana in yesterday and all I got back was $6.

It was in excellent condition, and I would be opening and playing the game anyway. It sucked but in the end, not the biggest deal to me.
 
Watching all these CE's get major discounts is making me rethink buying them for full price. I'm such a sucker for CE's and LE's though!
 
Not sure if this is worth noting: I didn't have the money for LBP2 CE when it was released, and now it actually seems scarce. Sams Club seems to have it for $65. I don't have a Sams Club near me, and no membership, but you can order as a Guest for one day and 10% extra tacked on. Well, I placed my order and all I see in the total is the game, shipping ($5) and tax - no extra 10% charge. Came out to $76 in the end, but still cheaper than Amazon ($100 3rd party), and GS ($80), unless this is on clearance somewhere. Now I just hope it's not canceled.

When I bought the Peace Walker CE from Gamestop I got 10% off and I got the guy to swap the open umd case for a sealed one. That was pure win!

Yeah, i pretty much refuse to buy one at full price anymore. They all get heavily discounted anymore, within a few months.

Yup. The money you can save overall by waiting for price drops on the vast majority of CEs far outweighs the resale markup on the few that wind up actually being rare (Bioshock 1, Tales of Vesperia, Demon's Souls, etc.). At this point, I only pickup a CE/LE at retail launch if I was going to buy the game at launch anyway and the CE only $10 or so more.

Unless you do your homework and only pick up LE/CE that MAKE you money (i.e. MvC 3 SE and the upcoming MK Tournament Edition).

But buying overmarketed, overproduced collectors editions like Halo Reach Legendary and Black Ops (Prestige.. NOT hardened) at retail at lunch isn't the best investment

I've been stalking this one at my local Target - it's been sitting at $40 for the past 2 weeks. I figure next week they'll either mark it down or sell out. Or both, knowing my luck. :p
 
I picked up a sealed PS3 copy of Fallout NV CE from the GS in Cary, NC (Kildaire Farm Rd. ). They had a couple AC Brotherhood CE's for $60...tempting...

Give it some time. I haven't seen it anywhere in my area except at gamestop. Once these get picked through it won't be available anymore as it'll be out of production.

THIS. Of course you never know if it'll be like New Vegas and drop to $30 later, like Killzone 3 and nearly halve it's price in two months, or be like AC2 and disappear immediately to only live on Ebay for $200. That's the ambiguity which keeps me buying these and keeps me kicking myself.

I am still mad at myself for not picking up AC2 for 29.99 when they dropped at GS.

It was rare initially, I'm pretty sure they did a second run a few weeks after release and that's what caused it to show up everywhere and not sell after so many people slammed the game (unfairly IMO, I think it's a great game).

I thought I saw a ton of AC2 SE's at my gamestop when I bought Fallout NV. I had no idea it was cheap or worth anything. I must have seen something else, but I'm definitely going back to check.

If they do have them grab a few, but more than likely it was AC3 CE.
 
I've found the best way to deal with buying collector's editions early is just to never, ever look at the price of it again. Just enjoy the purchase. Knowing that I could buy something like Final Fantasy XII CE that I still haven't finished for under $10 today rather than $60 hurts.

On the other hand, knowing that the only time I preordered a CE (that MGS 3: Subsistence one) and STILL didn't get one and will never be able to purchase one at even the retail price again also hurts.

I saw one at target the other day but it was $40, not $20. I'll have to go check again - think it was for PS3 also.

Absolutely. In the end, even the recent Crysis 2 Nano Edition which goes for around $350 right now will either drop in value over the next few months or be something that i'll get when I somehow magically have that kind of extra cash.

The irony is a much prefer the smaller CE's that don't eat up a ton of space in my house.

I don't think the nano edition is in production anymore and nor is it avilable for order. So shouldn't it go higher in value? Like the first dead space LE which is 1000+
