ChromeHounds - Gen. Discussion & Info

Tuesday nights are bad for me (around this time of year). I think Wednesday is golden.

Sweet!! It sounds like we have Hound Wednesdays now. I hope to see you all there. Not to say we can't play on Tuesday or any other day but the big meetuip will be Wednesdays.

Also, if any others want to try to schedule a meetup for a weekend or other day please post and see who is interested.

Wednesdays have always been a much better night for me, hopefully I can actually get in a few more games with you guys. Mondays would probably be the best secondary night right now for me.

Wednesdays are busy for me, but I could probably make it some Wednesdays for a short while. My 360 is undergoing repair anyway. I can't wait to start blowing shit up again with you guys!

How many people total still play this game online? I'm talking about total players and matches during the evenings. Really thinking about getting it but then there's also AC4 coming out next month. Yeah, totally different game and the more I watch AC4 trailers (never played AC series before) the more it seems like a fighting game ala 1 versus 1 style like SSBM in which multiplayer is just like an "extra" option and not really good. So I'll be getting one or the other for now.

BUMP! Okay. So I got this finally, at a CAG price at BB. Does anyone still play this online? I'm pretty sure I'm gonna have to play through the single player first before I go online. My LIVE tag is my name. Feel free to add me.

I try to, but I usually work Tuesday nights during the basketball season.
HAHA! Stuck in chicago!

....oh wait.

DOH!
Nah Chicago's great, I'm currently in Downers Grove, we are 6 people sharing 2 rental cars, the Doubletree hotel were in, is big and confy but they charge $10 for internet per day, no complimentary breakfast, and they have fucked up elevators that act like they are possessed and stop at ever level and move up and down whenever they feel like it.

Just went down to the Outlet stores a few min away, pretty cheap stuff. Hoping to check out the Museum of Science and Industry over the weekend for the "Body Worlds 2: The Anatomical Exhibition of Real Human Bodies"...looks creepy and cool

That exhibit was in Detroit a couple weeks ago .
My friend's sister works at the Detroit Science Center and she told him 2 of the "bodies" were stolen .

Now that's even creepier. Why the hell would someone want to steal dead/stuffed bodies. That's fucking gross.

I can think of a few reasons off the top of my head. I got some work starting tomorrow, so unless you visit during the weekend I probably cant do much while you are here.

If someone hits me up with a message while I'm on, I don't mind getting in a couple games. A couple FFA nights would be a ton of fun again.

I have been talking with RX we would like to get the clan back together for some Chromehounds Tuesdays after the Halo 3 beta is over if anyone is interested during the summer drought.

We are also talking about playing some R6Vegas and GR2 if anyone would like to play on other days of the week.

Sounds cool. I'm in!

Hey guys,

Bummer Toper...I'll be seeing you in Shadowrun then...I'll be opening it when Halo 3 beta ends or bores me.

ive had ch for a while now, while i really like the game i just havent put much time into it.
that said if you guys nee another person and dotn mind walkign me through soem stuff, id REALLY like to play. one of the biggest reasons i havent played much is i dont know anybody else who plays.

LP,

You're gonna love shadowrun...I know it's getting a bad rap here (because of the bare-bones feature set), but out of the 3 games I've mentioned above, this is the one I've been putting the most time with lately (surprisingly to me).

The last 'Hounds game I played with some of you guys was pretty damn fun. Using the AIs' missiles to destroy their own base after I ran out of ammo was hilarious. I'll jump in.

Hmmm... This is one of the 360 games I picked up cheap and haven't played yet. If you guys don't mind a total noob I'd like to try it out. Should I muck through it first on single-player to get the hang of it?

I'm interested in playing some MP games, but am also a noob. If you guys don't mind playing with me, then send me a FR with a message mentioning Chromehounds.

Oh snap?!! Some interest in the old CH huh? I would be in for a few rounds some time. I'll go ahead and fire it up in a few minutes so the squad can join the current war. If you guys have a Nation in mind for the next war just LMK. I'll see if there are any spots I can clear out (Toper is 1 hehe) to make room for a few of the new guys. If anybody is still active or has interst that is already in the Squad (aside from those that already posted) let me know soon or I may drop you.
How about we join Sal Kar or Tarakia.
Sure. We were already in Tarakia since about a month ago and last night I changed it to Morkoj, but I'll go to Sal Kar when this war is over. So if anybody has any weapons or parts they need to buy from Morskoj do it soon.

I already have you on my FL so just let me know when you want to join the squad so I can be on and sign you in. Once you're in you can play the single palyer mode to get a feel for it so you will be ready for the squad night.

Same for you Cleaner7. Add me to your FL and I can get you signed up.

To the new recruits please send me a friend request as well. I am planning on starting to play either Monday or Tuesday night next week.

Not sure about Tuesday because I have tickets to see the Cubs at night.

It depends on when I get home so I might move it to Monday for the first time getting back on.

What he said. Sign me up.

Is Chromehounds worth getting from gameznflix or grabbing through Goozex? I've heard mixed things about it, but if there's going to be a CAG group going for it, I might look into it.

Ditto. I wouldn't skip on SP though, its a good training course and it unlocks items for your Hound that you can use online.

Battlefield 2 blows offline and I love that game online, so that's not a deterrent. Do you have to do the single player game to level up or anything like that?

Edit: LinkinPrime answered that question as I posted it.

How often do CAG's play? I sold my copy of Chromehounds because my squad members stopped playing when other games came out. If you guys play regularly, I'll buy the game again to play.

We used to play 2x's a week or more back in the day. Now were on and off type thing...We usually schedule games here ahead of time and we all try to make it at that specific time.

Hey, could you give us noobs a brief overview of how this game works online (the different nations/wars thing and what you guys do, etc).

Oh, and also what is the general timeframe for when you guys play? I got the Tuesday part, but what time and for how long (generally)? I'm on the West Coast and early evening on Tuesday is bad for me (though that will change in a few weeks), so just trying to see if I can even fit in. In general, for me, the later the better ;).

You'll start on one of these Nations: Tarakia, Sal-Kar, or Morskoj

The first screen will show you a map of all 3 nations and it will represent flags of what territory they currently claim.
Battle Map:

The Big Red Crosses represent capitals. Each Nation is going at it as a free for all. The goal is to capture all territories. Each flag has 2-4 cities within it. Once you win enough battles on each city, you get points, as you get more and more points, you will be taking over that area, soon enough your flag will take its place there and you move on to the next (you don't have to fight one location until you finish). You receive money for each battle won, the cities on the Capital usually pay the most, unless there's a big emergency where your nation wants everyone to go fight to try to save a city or take control of someone elses.

Battling:
Once you choose your mech, the host will start a game by choosing a location on the map, once the hosts chooses the location, he will give the heads up, then you look for open team games and join the room, once everyone is in the room, you will see the map and you can talk strategy. Once host launches game, there's no turning back.

Objective:
To destroy all enemy hounds or their home base. When you start the game you will not be able to communicate with your squadmates until you capture Combas (communication towers), or if you have squdmate who is a Commander (has a satellite). Once you capture a combas (you capture by staying near its location until the lights turn on), you will be able to communicate with your squadmates within the range of the tower, there will be lots of combas all over the map, as you move forward, you will need to activate them to keep in contact with your squadmates. Enemies can will also be activating combas and if they activate one that you have previously activated, it will deactivate it for you. As you go around the map with your squad mates, you will eventually spot either the enemy squad or their base. You can either decide to take the enemies full on or have a few of you keep em disctracted as the rest of the squad heads for their base.

End of Battle:

You will be compensated for wins, you will be required to pay for damages done to your hound, as well as ammo you used up. If you lose, you will just pay for damages and thats it. You go back to lobby, go to garage to rebuild/add parts to your hound if needed and do it again.

Note: Most battles are done Squad vs. CPU. Theres an option to choose battles with live players but most of those people are hardcore and we end up getting beat 99% of the time. Even though we play against CPU most of the time, its still a blast and can be quite challenging. You get more points when you battle it out against live players, but you lose more points as well, if you lose.

EDIT: We generally try to get games started at 7pm PT/9pm CT/10pm EST, but if possible some EST CAGs start earlier due to the time differences. Also it doesn't necessarily have to be just Tuesday's, we can change it up as needed. This is just what worked for most of us in the past.

im new to the game as well and live in san diego. if you wanna get into chromehounds a bit i certainly wouldnt mind a partner to get my feet wet with.
lmk, feel free to send me an invite with cag chromehounds in it or something.

I still own ChromeHounds, and would most definitely love to play it again.

Thanks for the info LP! That was way more than the brief rundown I was expecting!

I think I might pop this game in late tonight after I clear up some more work issues and get a feel for it (single-player for now). If the next online game is next Tuesday maybe I'll be able to get a good feel for it by then. (Edit - D'oh! Stupid work, had no time to play CH yet... Hopefully Thurs night).

Note that not only am I a noob to this game but a noob to online gaming in general. I've only ever tried a few things here and there, but have never gotten into a team-based game before (well, besides Star Wars Battlefront on the PS2). But you've got to start somewhere ;). I like that this is mostly against AI - I don't need to go right into human opponents just yet.

I sent out FRs to most of the people in this thread wanting to get back into CH, just in case. I did it the easy way via CAG, so no messages. Just remember, Odibee = Io ;).
