CAG Veteran
Got a flyer that advertised some deals on console trades:
PS2 system + 5 PS2 games = $150
XBox system + 5 Xbox games = $150
Gamecube system + 5 GC games = $100
GBA SP system + 5 GBA games = $75
GBA system(old one i am sure) 5 GBA games = 50
PSone Mini system + 5 PSone games = $50
PSX system + 5 PSX games - $35
N64 system + 5 N64 games - $30
DC system + 5 DC games - $30

Not sure if there are any exclusions as for as games. I plan on calling tomorrow and checking.

Not spectacular but I bought my PS2 for $70 and I know I have some games I paid a lot less than $10 bucks each. Plus I only play Xbox lately.
I could make my money back somewhat for a trade.

Just an FYI...Hope its not a double post, I looked back a couple pages.

DOH! sorry didn't realize I could still edit my original post.

Ok one more time. sorry. to answer previous posted questions since I have the flyer in front of me. This is the fine print:

"System must be in working condition. Trade-in credit must be applied to purchase in same transaction. Game boxes and instructions are required. Not valid on previous purchases. While supplies last. Case for Games program does not apply to this promotion. no substitutions can be made. No rain checks can be issued. Customer may be responsible for sales tax in some states. See store associate for complete details Typographical errors are not the responsibility of EB Games. Offer valid 10/3/04 to 10/30/04"

I traded in my Ps2 along with 5 old/crappy games. I traded in SSX, MGS:2, Madden 2001, Twisted Metal Black, and Rygar. The guy did not test my system, just asked me if the playstation works. All in all this trade in is GREAT! I did not have to spend anything getting a new Ps2. The guy even gave me a Penny back! No Tax rules and i'll probably buy the 1 year warranty, so that i am ensured that this will last until the new Gen consoles come.

Oh yea, Paramus Mall eb does not have any ps2-two in stock. They had to take preorders so mine will come in next friday. It sucks to not have my ps2 for one week... ah well time to get back to my cube for now.

I just took in my old PS2 and 5 used sports games that I got off of ebgames.com for 10 bucks shipped for the new PSTwo. So for 10 bucks, I got to exchange to the new one and get an enet adapter as well.
You bought an ethernet adapter or traded it in?
The enet adapter is included with the new PSTwo.

I gave them my old PS2 (which worked fine) and I got 85 for it. they said they hadn't heard of anyone getting 100 for an old ps2

It ends 10/30. Any game on the exclusions list will not apply to this offer. You can also get $100 store credit for a working PS2 or Xbox right now, the computer will bump it up automatically after the cashier hits total. I'm pretty unhappy because I traded mine in for only $70 last week towards the smaller one coming out in two weeks.
Can anybody confirm that a PS2 or XBOX system will get a 100 bucks by itself? If so, this is actually not bad ..

I am pretty sure that when the PStwo is released, the regular PS2 will drop in price to $99 or so .. so if you trade yours in now .. you can get a PStwo later for $50 bucks more or rebuy a brand new PS2.
theres no reason for a price drop on any system around the xmas season. the only system to ever drop around xmas was the DC cause it was dead and they was cleaning out the stock. YOu wont seee a price drop till May like every year. I dont play my xbox anymore , i would trade it in for 100 bucks but its got something wrong with the drive half the time so i wont. + i always keep the 2 year warrenty on all my systems so i will probally just got to BB and trade it in
Wrong you are. The GCN dropped to $99 the last week of September, 2003.

September isn't really the Christmas season

dang I traded my ps2 in with nhl hitz pro, madden 2002, tony hawk 4, tomb raider (something) times two and I got my pstwo

I called up and they said they would take everything except old sports games but they did :)

they were really nice also, gave me some demos and tried to give me that extra discount of an extra 10 for a ps2 trade in

Also when I called they said they didn't have any in stock but the guy said he would get the "last one" from the back, lol.

I haven't been to an ebgames store in years, very happy.
No Tax rules and i'll probably buy the 1 year warranty, so that i am ensured that this will last until the new Gen consoles come.
Remember, the new models come with a 1 year warrenty from Sony.
For anyone that bought the games from ebgames.com and then traded them in, did you bother taking the stickers off first or did you just trade them in like they came? Mine are coming in the mail today, and wondering if I need to take the time to clean up the cases first to at least make them look like they're my games.
I did what you intend, or intended, to do. I bought the cheapest 5 games at EBgames.com (old sports games at $2.99 before coupons) and traded it in with my Xbox (with fatty controller) for a $150 gift card. Even though I boxed my Xbox in it's original packaging and everything, the manager still tested my Xbox with a game and then a music CD (both worked).

I tried to reserve the Holiday Bundle but the manager said they wouldn't be getting them in at his store (I think he was misinformed). I'll just order it online, no big deal.

Thanks CokeCola. That is good to know. Now i dont have to shell out an extra 15 dollars.

Just want to say "thanks" to CheapyD and the gamers who post on this site...

Because of all of you, I learned about this terrific deal. I traded in my old ps2, 5 games I was never really into, and got a new PS2. I had pre-ordered it but it didnt come in till two days ago. The EB guy didnt even test my system...he just asked if it worked and I said yes (and that's the truth.) I can't believe I was able to get a brand spanking new PS2 so easily and without spending a dime!

My advice: if you've pre-ordered.....call your EB everyday. My EB had just gotten a shipment in shortly before I called...even though they had told me there wouldnt be any new pstwo's in for another week and a half....
Thanks CokeCola. That is good to know. Now i dont have to shell out an extra 15 dollars.
I still picked up the $15 warranty. If anything at all goes wrong with it you can just take it back to EB and get a new one without having to deal with Sony.

last week i went to trade in my dreamcast and 5 games for the 30 buck credit and they asked me if i had a workin one and i said yes (it was the truth) and they didnt tested it while i'm at the store for 15 mins after i traded it in. when u guys traded in ur xbox, ps2, gc, etc, did the eb employees tested out ur system b/c i have a broken xbox and i want to get the 100 dollar trade-in offer instead of 50 and also did they ask for exclusion list for the 5 games to turn in b/c i want to make an extra 50 bucks as well lol.

So you want to rip them off by pretending a broken Xbox is a working one?

H-Town,

You can still trade in your non-working system but you certainly won't get $100. Without the special they have going now, the usual trade in value on a current gen system is $70 for PS2/Xbox and $50 for GC.

Depending on the EB rep's , it would probably depend on what they wanted to give ya.

Good luck!

i got in on this yesterday. traded in an old ps2 and some crappy games i never play that were laying around, good deal. they didn't have any in stock but they told me they should have one on sunday. i didn't even have to pay tax either, pretty cool. I can't see why anyone wouldn't do this, unless you actually use the hard drive. network adapter built in is great too since i didn't have one.

Are you that incapable of reading? First of all, that is about the time that a lot of the big sales and advertising campaigns go into full swing. And even if it were not so. Look at the whole underlined and bolded section. It says: "YOu wont seee a price drop till May like every year" (bad spelling not mine). Stop taking things out of context and spinning them for your own glory (i.e. "Oh, look at me! I'm so smart! I can say something that has no basis in reality, yet those whose brains are as numb as mine will believe me!!!). Anyone who reads your blather can see you're nothing more than a fool when you do such things.

Picked up my PSTwo yesterday!

I "pre-ordered" it last week and received a call on Thur that they had it in stock - Sun was the best time for me to go.

The mall that I go to has 2 EB stores, one on the lower level and another on the upper level. I went the lower level one and I asked if they had the PSTwo in stock. The guy told me "Yes, but only if you pre-ordered it." Of course I did and he pulled one out from the back. He looks at my receipt and tells me that I have to go to the upstairs one because that's where I pre-ordered it.

So no prob, I go upstairs and I ask the same thing. She says "No." So I am looking at her and think about it for a sec and tell her about the message I got Thur. Then she says something like "Oh, ok we have it since you pre-ordered it." So I say "So you do have it in stock." She goes to get it and her partner is trying to "defend" her.

The conversation wasn't messy or anything just a little confusing. I mean she lied in front of my face and I pointed it out, but didn't push it. I was just glad to get it.

But now that I have it and tried it out, I'm wondering when that thin CD cover will break and whether I should have gotten that Warranty.

Just got back from EB in Saratoga, CA and they said they are getting 20 PSTwo's in stock in a couple hours. Traded my old PS2 and 5 crappy games (the total trade value would have been less than $6 for all 5) and I cant wait to grab this and then get GTA tomorrow! Thanks for the heads up on this deal!

Pre-played XB System broken - $50 trade-in value Expires 10/30/2004
Trade-in a pre-played XB SYSTEM BROKEN and receive $50.00 trade-in value. May not be combined with any other offer or discount. See sales associate for complete details.

i traded in a broken xbox, working ps2 & 10 games (8 of which i picked up at gamestop for 2.99) for the new ps2 & $100 store credit. a word of warning though, the EB Games guy said that they were told to stop selling the new ps2s until they got rid of the old ones. i called ahead to make sure they had some in stock so he let me keep mine.

wow, I bought my xbox working for that much :whistle2:/

anyways, THANK YOU! I got my hand on a new ps2 for an old one (that had problems with CD games and was SUPER LOUD) and 5 REALLY cruddy games. Like BOTTOM of the barrel, showed up at 75 cents each in their system games

my xbox has had some trouble with dirty disc errors. it doesn't happen often, but it happens occasionally with EA Sports games. Should I tell them it's broken, or is that no big deal?

Anyone know if they will do this deal for a broxe xbox with the seal broken? I would sooner trade them than try and sell it on ebay ot to the Llama.

when I traded in my ps2 the dude grabbed one of my trade in games to test with, but the manager stopped him and said "ALWAYS use an EA Sports game, it'll tell if it really works or not". You can take your chances, but odds are they'll use EA sports to find out.

I traded in my PS2 and it didn't have the warranty sticker on it, and the guy didn't even check for it. It really shouldn't matter because I'm guessing the warranty is up.

haha, nice... well I feel less like "should I try and hide it?" and more like "would that really be worth calling it broken?" I'd feel bad trying to pass it off as perfect. I guess if I can get $50 for it and pay another $100 for a brand new xbox and 2 games and a controller s (mine was pretty much launch, so it still had/has a big ass controller)... anyway... that'd be worth it, I believe. Even though I just spent the $100 I'd like to use on it on the TRU deals. I guess I can trade it in now and buy the new box mid november.

 They tested my PS2 with a blue bottomed EA sports game too.

They asked me if it worked, and I said it did. That was all!

Cool, I will just pack it back up in the box and tell them that it is broken. I am sure they will not even take it out of the box.

After calling around I finally found an EBGames with PSTwos in stock. Out with the old w/o network adapter and 5 $1.99 games and in the with the new PSTwo.

tried trading my broken ps2 w/broken seal in 2 different EBs. Both said that once the seal was broken they couldn't touch it at all.

One EB told me that I would also need to trade in a controller and the manual that came with the ps2 for it to be valid.

If the ps2's broken why would it matter if the seal's broken? The ps2 is still broken nonetheless.

Does anyone think they will check my PS2 for play testing if I have it in original box w/instructions and all? It will play most games, but the ps2 has to be upside down. Maybe I'll do a quick clean since the seal is already broken.

Thanks all!

I called 6 EB stores in La. and was told by all of them that the only way to get the new PS2 was to preorder one with $20 or use the trade in promotion to preorder one. This would flag the warehouse to ship one. A manager told me this was Sony's policy b/c of the shortage of PS2's available. I then called Gamestop and they have them in stock.I want to take advantage of trading in my older PS2 w/5 games deal. I also don't want to be without a PS2 for weeks possibly since I just got GTA:SA. I think the stores are doing this b/c of the trade in special right now that expires on 10/30 . Anyone else having this problem or a solution? Thanks!

I called EB and they said the trade-in value is only $70 for a PS2. Isn't it supposed to be $100? Should a call back again in the morning when a manager is there?
ok... I have to ask.

Why a EA sports title for testing?
Alot of them are blue bottomed. Alot of PS2's have trouble reading blue discs.

I e-mailed eb about this (my store said the same thing) and they told me that if you don't trade in 5 games with it, it's up to that particular EB on what they'll accept the ps2 for.

That's how much credit EB gives for a used PS2 right now. It's when you do the deal that they bump up the prices.

traded in my launch ps2 and xbox and various crappy games and got the new small ps2 and a sumsung dvd drive xbox over the past 30 days. thanx eb for updating my consoles!!!!! trade-in deal of the year......

Finally got around to going to EB and doing this. Didn't have any problems trading in old copies of Madden and NFL 2kx, but the guy did glare at me when he saw the games and mutter something under breath to the clerk next to him about all the "assholes" taking advantage of the trade in deal with games that had $.25 and $.50 trade in values. Unfortunately they didn't have any new PStwos in stock so I have to go back and get it with the giftcard, meaning I gotta pay tax on it now, but oh well. Still a good deal on the upgrade considering I didn't have a network adapter, plus the controller I traded in had seen better days.
