I just played through Crimson Sea 2 last month, I thought it looked pretty neat on the gameplay video I saw on my Samurai Warriors disc so I got it.
I dunno how close the Dynasty Warriors comparison is, unless Lu Bu has a plasma rifle and psionic powers I don't remember seeing.
Anyway it is a decent game, it has missions to do and after completing one you get a higher % for completing that mission, S rank (the highest ranking) and you get bonuses of money and special items, some missions it is super easy to do others you will gladly pass on and move on, none are required to beat the game, but it does make certain things easier.
Graphically it's nice to look at, however you will see the same dungeon area multiple times since there are only a few areas to play in (over the span of 3-4 planets.)
It's got pretty good VA'ing with Tony Oliver of Robotech fame as the main character, all of the Xbox CS1 cinemas are included in the game, just so you can catch up story wise and take at least an hour to watch them all and make for a better, more well rounded story.
It has two playable characters, and you are forced to use certain ones in certain missions, but this is because they get certain powers that are specific to them. The time freeze abilities are neat, and trying to rack up a 500-1000+ combo is always fun.
Anyway I think I beat it in 2-3 days of casual, semi-dedicated playing and clocked in appox. 14 hours I didn't go for all S rank or get enough energy to max out all my weapons, but it was a nice diversion that didn't get to long in the tooth and start to get tedious, if you have to get 100% on all your games, then yeah it might get boring.
I recommend it, but keep those things in mind, it's got a nice sndtrk (the opening music was pretty nice) but you'll hear your plasma rifle more than the music (at least to me)
If I were to rate it I'd give it about a 6.5-7.0, not totally medicore, but not exactly super great either, but then again I knew what to expect going in when I bought it.
Now you know...
