They'll be the new additions to Team Pac-Man, simply because they're black.

Spoiler tags please! C'mon!

Well, at least with Cryme Tyme they are a legit Tag Team that could hold the TNA Tag Titles instead of Killings and Pacman (Who can't even actually wrestle at any point while in TNA.)

I liked Cryme Time.

Just fucking cancel Smackdown vs. Raw 08. Geez. I hope they leave Cryme Tyme in but I doubt it.

Good to see that people like Val Venis and Big Daddy V are still employed, though

Val is an incredible worker, and Cryme Tyme was apparently canned due to an incident backstage with Murdoch and Cade.
I seriously think Cryme Time could have been huge.
I honestly think Vince thought that too, but unfortunately whatever the incident between them and Cade/Murdoch was just happened at the wrong time with Vince in the wrong mood with all the steroid happenings.
Shawn Spears is on heat.
I like him as a heel. He's a dime a dozen as a handsome babyface, but he really is great as a cocky guy who has to cheat to win every match. His feud with Cody Runnels/Rhodes has been my favorite of the year so far, and his feud with Colt Cabana is damned good as well - and all the credit can't go to Rhodes and Cabana in that case.

His problem? He's lucky if he's 170lbs, and from the few OVW shows I've been to, he's 5'11" on his best day and wearing wrestling boots with lifts.

I'm uploading the past three weeks of OVW right now, but I'm going out for the night in an hour or so - they won't be done by then. They may be up tonight, but worst case, tomorrow morning. Definitely worth watching, though I say that about all OVW television. My biggest complaint? Too much Major Brothers, and I don't like the "Insurgency" tag team gimmick at all.

I'm really bummed about the current state of TNA...

It just doesn't make any sense...

That four or five streak of iMPACT! being old ECW-caliber wrestling... what the fuck happened?

Really, the only thing I'm currently interested in is Steiner / Dudleys.

The inmates started running the asylum.

New thread?

Oh, and I know this may sound way dickish but w/e becuase I've had it on my mind for a while. Why can't congress just leave the boys alone?

TNA started to go downhill after Hard Justice last year. Samoa Joe should have won that match instead of Sting and won the title at BFG.

Bummer about Cryme Time. I hated their gimmick at first but the way they kept stealing and selling things was growing on me. It was at least more entertaining than most of what I was seeing on Raw. If they wind up in TNA they can feud with LAX and it'll be 1997 all over again.

Maybe Cryme Time was auctioning off HHH's steroids in the back.

Does WWE even have any wrestlers anymore? Kind of weird to release guys when you are already hurting as it is.

I can answer that.

Why deal with...

Hunger
Poverty
Health Care
Drug Abuse
Identity Theft
Organized Crime
Gang Violence
Domestic Abuse
AIDS awareness
Gun Control

When steroids affect so many more of us.

The government is a joke and the fact they can't deal with other issues with as much zeal is ridiculous.

PWTorch.com reports that the Cryme Tyme release stemmed from actions the tag team performed following their Terre Haute house show match against Cade and Murdoch.

According to the Torch report, the two teams had reportedly been developing heat with each other over the course of the past few weeks. That built into an incident prior to the match, in which Shad Gaspard told Lance Cade that "what happens in the ring happens," essentially implying that there might be some stiff shots exchanged. Cade mocked Gaspard's threat in front of a number of wrestlers backstage.

In order to get back at Cryme Tyme for what they perceived as a threat, Cade and Murdoch met with the referee and arranged a rib. Essentially, the plan was to "fast count" while JTG was out of the ring, resulting in a count out loss for Cryme Tyme; Cryme Tyme was unaware of this plan until it was executed in front of the live audience.

In what sources say was a move to save face, Cryme Tyme then decided, without telling the referee, to execute their finishing move on him (they reportedly did so safely, but it was still unexpected). They also tossed his belt into the crowd.

Words were exchanged in the backstage area following the segment, and WWE management eventually made the call to release Cryme Tyme, who were reportedly on thin ice with management anyway due to what some backstage perceived as an attitude problem. The tag team was reportedly unhappy and surprised with WWE's decision.

The increased scrutiny on WWE stemming from the Benoit tragedy, the Congressional investigation and the recent steroid controversy has resulted in a zero-tolerance policy backstage.

Well, judging from the Raw spoilers, they pretty much told who was suspended.
Jeff Hardy won the IC title, then they stuck Umaga in a handicap match against Triple H and lost. One sludgehammer shot later, they made sure that he won't be on tv for the next month.

As for Mr. Kennedy, they tell that he is not the son, even though he says he is. Just watch, they now write Snitsky as his son. :shame:

Dragon Gate's CIMA is the winner of the 2007 Battle Of Los Angeles. Fantastic match in the finals between El Generico, Roderick Strong, and CIMA with CIMA coming out on top. Afterwards, Bryan Danielson ran in to congratulate CIMA and tease an upcoming match between the two.

Tons of video and pictures to come, but it's Labor Day, and I've got BBQ to eat.

How did Danielson look? Did he have an eye patch or something?

What was the story with that Hashi/Ogawa match? I became such a mark for Ogawa in late 2000 when I would rent NJPW videos from the Japanese market - he was such an incredibly cocky heel, and the shoot stuff they ran with him was so well done that I still don't know how much of it was worked. I'd never seen the match w/ Hashimoto, but did see a lot of Ogawa's matches with Riki Choshu in 2000.

I don't get why so many people say that. Val is a sound in ring worker, and a great modern version of the Brooklyn Brawler/enhancement talent. You can put a new guy in the ring with Val and find out how the crowd reacts to him. Plus you can gauge if the guy can wrestle or not.

Now Big Daddy V on the other hand

Val is leagues above the Brooklyn Brawler. Val was a solid midcard guy who was way over as a face and he did a good job as a heel in the Chief Morley role. I do see what you're saying about using him to test out new talent, as those seem to be the only times we see him on Raw anymore.

I am going to try and gather some stuff for a Vader topic if no one objects.

Oh I definitely agree, I was only comparing their in-ring roles. Val kind of got the short-end of the stick, as he was pretty damn over as Val Venis before the PTC kind of jobbed him, resulting in the RTC gimmick.

Sucks, but Fix'd :whistle2:?
I love that Cody Rhodes looks nothing like his father and brother but wrestles in Black & Yellow like his father did.
He's only 18, right? Give him some time/sandwiches.

Zenithian Legend, what I meant is that Cody doesn't resemble his father like Dustin does which is funny because Dustin is way taller than Dusty but looks just like him in the face.

Oh I imagined as much. Are they from the same momma? I'm sure Dusty's had a few flings. Sapphire comes to mind.

Awesome article, great read. Ogawa is a maniac. Thanks for the vids but I can't get them to run. Anyone get them to work on a Mac? I downloaded the first one (from 20 or so posts back) but couldn't get it to run with the newest (I think) version of Quicktime, DivX or Windows Media Player.

Apparently Cody got all the looks and athleticism in the family.

Try VLC. That 1/4/99 match is a fucking monster.

EDIT: As for Cody's attire, he's taken a decidedly 1980's approach to his tights, with the solid color trunks with his initials on them. Like Flair, Dusty, Arn, Tully, and anyone worth their salt. Which is a right lot better than OVW, where he occasionally wore his "tribute" tights, which were (I kid you not), half black with yellow polka dots, and half gold lame'.

You're required to get a clip of him falling on his butt when he was getting out of the ring while helping Coach.

   I guess you can say that and I don't think they have the same mother.

He looked good, and yes, wore the eyepatch. IMO, a real class act as he sat in the crowd, shirtless and in gym shorts, watching the entire event and really getting into the show. Great to see him make the trip out even though he wouldn't be wrestling.
