gkleinman, founder of DVDTalk, will provide details at midnight tonight (6/16). I will update this topic as more information develops. Odds are that it is this weekend, but I don't know for certain. Sorry to jump the gun and post with so little information, but I know not everyone here reads DVDTalk, and I wanted to provide a heads-up.

Anyone interested in the sale should prepare their wishlist as soon as possible. DDD slows down considerably during these sales (at least, it has in the past), so it is best to have a list of what you want before it starts.

Calm down now, most of the gay stuff is for my g/f or mom. Such as Gilmore Girls, One Tree Hill, 7th Heaven, Dallas, Highway to Heaven & Everwood (not saying I wont watch or like some of those though  ). I'm pretty sure the rest is mine though. I did cut out the following from my wishlist:

beast wars s1-3
full house s1
dead leaves
west wing s3&4
buffy s4-7
milk chan v2-4
home improvement s2
murphy brown s1
la femme nikita s1-3
wise guy s1p1&p2
punk'd s2
cheers s3-5
azumanga (not sure what this is or why it was in there)
profiler s1-4
homicide s6
memories
radio flyer
buffy the movie
everybody loves raymond s2&3
beef 1&2
paranoid
eminem aka

my total was double before i made the final cuts
I cut out (going from memory here):

Just about every Kurosawa DVD
The Shield seasons 1-3
24 seasons 1-3
Six Feet Under 1-3
Nip/Tuck Season 1
Excel Saga Im-Perfect Collection
Inuyasha Season 1
Devil's Advocate
Ghost in the Shell SE
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas Criterion
Cat Stevens - Majikat

... and much more. I've been adding and subtracting to the wishlist for months in anticipation of this sale.
Radio Flyer -- great movie.
definitely...i wonder if id still cry watching it
this was one of my favorite movies growing up and ive been looking for it for forever...i threw it in my wishlist as soon as deepdiscount started carrying it....but it still didn't make the cut....reason being is that i can see it definitely going down in price

ive never seen six feet under, but you should die for cutting out the shield, 24 & nip/tuck...

oh yeah...and i think you forgot to order: http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=SRV099082

Yep. Cutting out 24 was a mistake. for punishment you must immediately go to a Sam's Club or BJs and purchase the first season for $20
I wanna get the Invader Zim House set for 65
I was thinking about that too... especially since it comes with a GIR figurine :)

Aww Damn it! Why does this sale have to be now. I've spent enough money as it is this month and I'm really stretching it now. Would have really liked it if it had been the weekend of July 4 like I was expecting it to be. Right now I'm running through my wishlist and trimming everything. Got it down to Dark Angel Season 2, 3 Aqua Teens, Clerks 10th Anniversary Edition (probably am going to take this one down), and Big O 2 (this one I'm definitely keeping). Aaarrgghhh decisions decisions.

Get Clerks over Dark Angel

Get shut the fuck up over not shutting the fuck up.

Wow. That wasn't funny at all. I'll go hide now.

Wow, the site is starting to bog down and a lot of stuff is starting to go out of stock. I put Stripperella in my cart just to see how much it would come upto, and then refreshed it and bam, it went out of stock.
and as far as the invader zim set goes...do what sblymnl did, buy v1-3 separate and then the box...its cheaper that way
Oh right, I forgot they sell the extras separately... I clearly don't buy enough animated series or anime.

btw, what are you guys' opinion on The Machinist? I noticed a couple of you bought it.
OK, what is the difference between these 2? I thought since this will be the DVD thread most everyone will be occupying, I'd post here rather than start a new thread. These are the Serial Experiments Lain box sets. Thanks!

The second one is the old box set, and the first one is the re-issue, with a less-impressive box. The discs are the same.

Yeah, i did that, in time. Now it's time for the Box. Anyone have the Gungrave box and Want the Noir Box. Just box no extras.

HOW THE **** DO YOU BUY $1000 WORTH OF DVDS AT ONE TIME.

I don't get the big deal, 20% off is pretty good, but you guys are going nuts over this. Is there something I'm missing?

Just bought Dead Zone Season 3......had to get that right away before giving it a chance to go out of stock....ill be back for more....thinking about Farscape Starburst Editions

Maybe they only buy DvD's at this time, saving all the money that they would spend to use at this time.

Think of it this way. The more you spend, the more you SAVE. 20% OFF of $1,000 -- $200! I only picked up 2 double-disc releases. $25 and I'm done.

As for the Machinist, judy, I rented it last week and I think it's one of the best films I've seen in a good long while. A lot of fuss is made about Bale's weight loss to play the role (63 lbs.) and it's startling to see on film, sometimes even nauseating. But it really adds a ton to the film, you really do believe this skeleton of a man, with his sunken features and heavy circles under his eyes, hasn't slept in over a year. Even if you're broke and unsure, give it a rent and see for yourself.

Man, if my mother's birthday, my sister's wedding, and father's day weren't all within 5 days of each other I would be all over this....

Personally, ever since these sales started occurring fairly consistently, I save most of my DVD purchasing for DDD sales. Some of the DVDs on DDD are already cheap, so 20% off cheap is usually the right price point for some of the DVDs I had planned to eventually get. The number of DVDs I get in between DDD sales aren't that much anymore (and usually it's a deal that's cheaper than 20% of DDD price).

1 - im a tv shows on dvd junky
2 - i have money to spend
3 - i dont buy as much btwn these sales any more
4 - i want to support such great sales like this
5 - they already have lower prices most of the time
6 - i can

I don't buy that many DVDs and not that often really. Most of the time it's just real cheap ones that I can find either new or used just to tide me over, unless it is something special that I must truly own. Also, DDD has great prices all the time plus free shipping. They're prices are 90% of the time cheaper than other retailers, so plus a 20% off discount is even better.

For those that have been following this sale, does anyone know if Outlaw Star (complete box set/series) went out of stock already? That's one anime that I missed last time around.
get dark angel over clerks

Jessica Alba is tasty but I've only watched my Dark Angel sets once each. Clerks is a better investment.

And seperate is the way to go, though the box+extras is OOS.
Maybe they only buy DvD's at this time, saving all the money that they would spend to use at this time.
That's the plan. I've been putting off buying stuff all year while I waited for this sale. We'll see if it works out.
someone give me ideas of tv shows to get
Dark Angel
Simspsons
etc. etc. etc.

Just think of what you watch/like to watch/what you have watched and DDDVD probably has it.

When Blue-ray and HD-DVD hits the fan and DVD format becomes obsolete, they will start all over again. I'll stick to games ;)

Didn't the companies that creating those come to a compramise and said that they would try to share technology. Eh..Whatever I dont' care. I have time until those come out and even when they do they'll still be expensive and DVDs will still be coming out.

I'm pretty sure that post was a joke, especially with games on a much shorter development cycke and dvda/sacd already having hit the fan

plus, stuff put out by criterion is a vintage that will be timeless, for example

It's tough trimming down the want list. I just spent ~$400 on the bn.com buy 2 get 1 free sale, so I'm hesistant to spend too much. Gonna try and keep it around $200. :whistle2:#
Yeah, well the more you spend...the more you spend.
Yes we already know this by now. It's one of the ironies/conundrums of being cheap. To save money, you must first spend money.

Oh God, more spending. And I thought I was just about done for this month. here I come Highlander: The Raven, ATHF 1-3, Harvey Birdman, Da Ali G Show, etc.
