I don't know, but the wiki/guide mentioned it, and the guy I summoned (who eventually killed it for me) did it.

Well got to play tonight after all, knocked off 3-1 as planned... I got pissed a few times. Those ledges come up on you pretty quick in the dark... Otherwise pretty easy level. The octopus guys are no joke if you get hit once or twice. Otherwise distance does it!

^ haha yeah, in 3-1 I was trucking away one time and just fell through the floor.

I think you do it by auto locking on and just firing. You don't go into snipe mode. It says since his head goes so crazy the autolock will make your camera go crazy, but to ignore it and hit when you can. Supposedly you don't just spam away, there is a "best time" to fire. Or this could just be people talking about the "safe" spot.

Well, I'm off to kill that Adjudicator bastard. This time I'll head all the way downstairs ASAP.
Well, I'm off to kill that Adjudicator bastard. This time I'll head all the way downstairs ASAP.
Yeah. I got brought downstairs by his tongue. Once you get the rhythm you probably won't get hit... have grass ready until that happens though!

Ugh. Blue dragon so easy it makes me sick I died and lost so many souls on him. I just
soul arrowed him to 50% (using ring of magical sharpness to boost attack in tandem with rat's ring). When he gets to second part I water veiled and flame resistance ringed and ran up the stairs with cling ring. I missed a few of my first attempts, but was protected enough to retreat and heal with regenerators ring. Once I made it up to the door way, I stood in the door way and had a perfect view of his head. I autolocked and soul arrowed the rest from down there.

I also lied about Scirvir. My tendency grew even whiter (thought it was maxed, I was wrong) and he appeared.

It's all good now, I found Demon's Souls at FYE and returned Flashpoint for it.

As for Demon's Souls, I am loving it! Really great game, with a fresh new take on the action RPG genre. This is definitely one of the biggest gems of this console generation and easily one of the PS3's crown jewels.

This game is fucking amazing. Definitely in my top five games of this year.

Anyone have any tips of what I should be doing next though? I've just been wandering around after I beat 2-1. Went to 5-1, got my ass handed to me by the boss (and it also doesn't help that stage is a giant clusterfuck :bomb:). Went to 4-1 next and the damn enemies there are annoying as all hell. Died there multiple times 'cause of a damn pincer attack in that underground tunnel, which I saw coming but just didn't know how to kill those dudes off properly in that narrow corridor.

I'm just collecting items and equips from all the stages, for the most part, but I'm not entirely sure what I should do next. Should I start upgrading some of my stuff to make the newer weapons? If so, where's a good place to farm ores? I think 2-1 was a good area?

Possible world tendency glitch?

So I'm reading the guide and apparently when you go into the pit in 4-2 that
Patches pushes you into where Urbain can be rescued, there is supposed to be a body that is inaccessible with the "Makoto" sword. Only in white world tendency does it become available. Well, the world tendency on 4 was near black (the gem is pretty dark in the Nexus anyway) and yet I got that sword. Very odd, but since that is the only white WT event in that world I guess I'm taken care of, so that's good!

Maybe at some point it was pure white WT and it stayed down on the ground. It's similar to how in 1-1, once you get Pure White WT the door to the execution grounds stays open even if WT changes.

Yeah, the dragon smasher sword is the same. The rubble clears once it hits white and you can grab it even if you aren't in white any longer.

What soul level are you guys beating it at? I don't know if I should go ahead and beat it or if I should grind and farm a bit before moving on to +. Boss 1-4 is it...

I beat it at Level 97. Technically I was at 101, but I was a little stupid in the 1-4 final battle and...well you can guess what happened.

Toughest bosses for me would be 1-4, 2-2, and 3-2.

Just beat 2-2 in NewGame+, it was a pretty big jump in difficulty. I still one shot guys in 1-1, but they do a lot more damage this time. I'm really not having a problem on normal guys, its usually the bosses that are noticeably tougher.

Keep in mind SaintNoir, I've seen guys as low as 70 beat the game. If they were good enough to beat the game I'm sure they aren't having too much trouble in +, but more levels can never hurt. It's your call really, like I said, starting at 97, I'm having little to no problems.

I hope I don't get hammered on 1-4 an lose too much...

I can't remember where I am right now. I think I am about SL 90. Probably will do a little building.

Wow - you guys are talking about levelling up more at 70+? I think I just hit the upper 20's!
Maybe at some point it was pure white WT and it stayed down on the ground. It's similar to how in 1-1, once you get Pure White WT the door to the execution grounds stays open even if WT changes.
I seriously doubt it as it is near black right now and I haven't done much there but go into 4-1 repeatedly to get levels and eventually beat the 4-1 boss (which I just did last night). It's been pretty dark every time I've looked at it and would have done nothing to make it darker anyway in the times I've been in there.

Then again, when I beat 4-1 I suicided in Stonefang tunnel and didn't seem to effect that at all - it is still near white (though not enough to be pure white).

How do you all get it up to pure white (I know getting to black will be easy because I can just suicide in a world and become a blue phantom to gain my body back)
How do you all get it up to pure white (I know getting to black will be easy because I can just suicide in a world and become a blue phantom to gain my body back)
Killing bosses, black phantoms, and primeval demons is the way to move towards white. Primevals only appear in black tendency. So, to go to pure white it is easiest to be in pure black. Beat a primeval and the world's BT black phantom. Then beat a boss. That world should be in pure white then. Guide says to beat the first boss in every level, then leave the second for when you are trying to move the scale up to white. Just make sure you don't die in body form in a world when trying to move it up.

Also beat BP and primeval in one sitting without going to Nexus or it may screw up the count. Others can probably guide you more directly, as I haven't started doing this.

I would try to hit World 4, it really is the easiest IMO bosswise, so you should get easy access to 1-3 for beating World 4's archdemon. I'd save 3-2, 3-3, and all of World 5 to the end cause I think they're the hardest.

ahhh, that feels good. Just finished (1-4 boss was a bitch until I decided to get my bow). Level 81. Now to decide if I'm gonna take a break for a while, or (more likely) dive right back in for some NG+ action. I prolly shoulda farmed the crystal gecko's in my first game though, that's my only real regret (well, that, and having 160,000 souls I can't upgrade my stats with until I beat NG+ 1-1)

Can someone give me advice on which equipment to shoot for that DOESN'T involve missable content? I love the game, but there is no way I'm going to nerd camp missable spawns, restart my game to kill particular one chance only enemies, etc...

Can I build a decent set of equipment without carefully orchestrating various events?

I don't think any of my "everyday" gear is missable stuff. It was just good items that are strewn about the levels that I upgraded with ores I gathered along the way. Most of the weird items that are WT dependent are just being sought after to get them... for completionist.

Most aren't recommend for average use, I don't think. Least not by me (do want to get that talisman of beasts though). Just decide what kind of stuff you want and upgrade from there.

EDIT - example... I use a dragon sword often. Does fire damage. Can be upgraded from lots of regular swords with dragonstone and you even find a decent one as is in a level.

My impression is that playing style and stats are much more important than specific pieces of gear. I'm wearing my monk head scarf thing primarily because it looks awesome (although it makes it hard to see in tunnels). Things that seemed impossible before are suddenly pretty easy because I know how to avoid attacks/time my attacks (the knight hanging out in a corner of 1-1 is a perfect example, he destroyed me at first and now he can't hit me - which is good since he gives 2k souls and good healing items)

What is bothering me is this:

I'm happily trucking through 1-2. I get a fleeting glance of a particular creature as I'm exploring. I look up said creature. Said creatures are important for /upgrading/ various things, as they drop items that otherwise very very rarely unless you do various things to world tendency.

These upgrade items (trying to avoid spoilers) seem to not only be for uber completionist objectives, but to upgrade most any weapon to something close to it's upper potential.

Up on until this point I figured I coud happily ignore the event orchestration and strategy guide reading, but now I'm not so sure. As far as playing style, I hate missables because they specifically punish mine: I like to look around, which often causes one time only events to go off, or in this specific case, something to flee until New Game plus.

The enemies aren't driving me up the wall, the difficulty isn't bothering me, but this sort of thing /does/ bother me. It's 'hardcore' in that it's annoying and expects me to walk on eggshells with a guide in hand at all times.

... and now I'm reading more about tendencies. All because something interesting dashed away from me...

You talking about geckos? You will get more chances to hunt those. It takes a bit of practice. They exist more than once. Use ranged attacks or arrows... or you can run up on them and hit them on their backs. Use the thief ring to get into shooting range.

Geckos start with a 1 counter... it's there one time and if it gets away it's gone... but when you beat a boss etc it adds one to the counter for geckos in that world (beat one boss they have a 2 counter etc). At first, they seem hard to get. But you get better at it. Plus you can put yourself in a better spot to snipe it (as long as it has more on its counter), go to load game, load your profile and the gecko will respawn right there. Snipe away (best not to be right on top of it as it goes buck while you are respawn animating). And that one in 1-2 is nigh impossible to grab. There are tons that are easier.

ALSO, very few ores are available ONLY in geckos and you get lots from lots other places. If you LOVE to explore and do everything, this game has lots for you. If you don't you can still enjoy it and just play it as is.

World tendency events aren't as one time and you can get back to the world tendency and some stuff stays open once the tendency is hit.

Dang guys I must have wasted 5 + hours today on Flamklurker and tehn the 4-2 boss.... i know it ownt matter in the end but I lost 160,000 souls at one point and i am low, like soul level 42 or something..

Pisses me off that would have probably been 12-14 levels.

I may actually summon someone on this guy.. I get him down and then get my behind handed to me... it takes soo long to wear him out on 4-2.

Some bastard invaded me while I was trying to gain souls to level up. :bomb: Luckily, he was spamming the Fire spell and I had the Purple Flame Shield or whatever it's called, so I won pretty easily. Being invaded is intense, hahahaha.
Wow - you guys are talking about levelling up more at 70+? I think I just hit the upper 20's!
I'm SL 210 now on my 6th playthrough and #4 in the US for souls collected lol. I thought I was bad with 100 hours played, but some dude in the pantheon has me beat with 150+.

I just got all four gold trophies tonight and getting the Foe's ring was so easy I did it in like 5 minutes flat. All I have left now for the platinum is farming some of the rare chunks and I've been really avoiding doing it lol. I might have to give this game a rest for Uncharted 2 tomorrow, because I'm starting to burn out a little. The game is getting ridiculously easy at this high of level to the point where I can clear a game without dying, too.

Only idiots rely on magic only, unless they can gib you with a strong spell quickly. The one time I fought a mage, he was just casting blindly at me so I whipped out my dark silver shield, absorbed the dmg and sweet spot killed him. People who PvP in this game are very, very bad lol.

Rather disappointing because PvP was a big factor for me in playing the game. At higher levels, you never get invaded because there's just no competition. :(

Man... Yurt...
what a disappointment. Based on his appearance and the fact he kills NPCs if left unchecked, I thought he would be a monster. I free him and can't target him since he is non-hostile. I walk up and a single stab in the back takes him out. His look and voice reminds me of the mouth of Sauron though.

All the NPCs are pretty weak. I went pure black CT tonight and not a single person so much as dented me when I was killing them.

anybody know where i can find a great axe? I want to do some upgrading..

oh and I took a shower and came back and 22 minutes later the old hero is history.. i even resurrected myself thinking there might be a blue orb, but no one was there.

Can we see the orbs in spirit form as well, or do I need to be in body form to even see the blue orbs and offers from Friendly phantoms?

I am in soul form and trying to lay a blue eye stone to help.. it wont let me... Am I doing it wrong? its on a level I have already passed.

maybe no living players are playing that section now? So it wont let me waste it.

Well just took out flame lurker.... not too bad.

Well, you can't waste it since it has infinite uses. I know you can't summon players on a level you've already beat so maybe you can't be a phantom on a level you've already beat either.

Yeah, this is correct.

I have been messing around and hoping for pure white in world 3. Doesn't look to be happening. May just go ahead and beat it... any good 1-4 boss strategies to share?

Can someone give me an idea of what the guy (scirver) wants in
the back section of 2-2
I didnt catch what he said.

Nevermind figured it out..

I think I am done for the night.

Equip
dragon smasher sword that you get in pure white just in front of big dragon boss (2-3) - it's to the left instead of to the right which is the fight
.

You can poison him, but I don't think it did enough chip damange to make it worth it. Up to you. Death Cloud doesn't work :bomb: He has insanely high magic def. so don't even bother with other spells (though wiki says firestorm works, I didn't try it). Arrows work great, because you can keep away from him. He has a nasty combo up close. I was doing ~110 damage with my long bow +7 and normal arrows. Gotta learn the timing when to roll though, as he has an attack where he quickly glides accross the state and smacks ya and it takes a good chunk of health. Thankfully the level itself gives you tons of great grass. Killed me twice before I could learn the timing to dodge (and learn that my moon spear doesn't do more than tickle him...).

That depends: do you want to cheese him or fight him normal?
Normal fight, just have warding on and go in swinging; he really doesn't hit that hard either way, but you can stay in longer with it on. Just beat on him until you have to back off when he drops his sword in the ground. By back off, I mean run all as far away as possible.

To cheese it, keep the Thief's ring on and just hide downstairs until his back is to you. Creep up behind him and cast poison cloud. He will not react and you will just have to recast it every 8-10% of his health when it wears off. Takes about 20 minutes to kill him this way, but it's the safest method since there's 0 chance of losing a SL. I personally cheese him because if I fuck up, it's going to cost me ~320k souls.

I thought you could use magic no matter what class you were as long as you had the wand. Where does one get this and how do you get the magic or healing spells?

You have to be level 10 in magic and intelligence to start learning spells from the NPCs in the Nexus. Level 10 Faith for miracles. You can
get a wooden catalyst in 1-2. A silver catalyst in 3-1. And a talisman of beasts that cast magic and miracles in 2-2 if you have pure black world tendency from BP Scirvir.

So my copy from Amazon shipped last night! Hopefully that means ill be playing by Wednesday at the latest! Before the game gets here and starts making me feel like a lip wristed nancy does anyone have any survival tips.

As long as you go slowly and keep your shield up surviving isn't that bad. Also using magic (or arrows I suppose) from a distance doesn't hurt. Read messages on the ground too, they can be very helpful (sometimes)

I just found one in 2-2. Just search the lava section of the level. I think it's in the lower section (after you go down the elevator) and somewhat near the entrance.
