Flame arrows are either begining of 4-2 or the shady merchant in the nexes between archstone of 3 and 4....
Ah, yeah, I think it is Bilge in 4-2. Patches (in the Nexus) definitely does not have them - he just has the heavy arrows.

Any suggestions for offensive magic? Right now I have soul arrow, warding, poison cloud, and firestorm, with 4 slots. Soul arrow doesn't really seem to be scaling up all that well in terms of damage.

It sounds like Poison Cloud and Firestorm are two spells you can take with you until endgame. If you really want to acquire more spells, I hear Death Cloud has benefits, tho' not as much as Poison Cloud.

Oh, forgot God Of Wrath. :p

I would recommend poison cloud as well, it seems to work on most bosses, and it's really useful on black phantoms and some of the tougher bosses (the 2 kings, etc.)

Anyone have any dragon god advice. I made it to the first machine thing but the fire spray seems to kill me on my way to the second. Sometimes I can line myself up to use flamethrower on a pillar, but not consistently enough.

Edit to add: I beat the flamelurker which was awesome, and apparently I'm pure white because I got the giant sword at the start of the dragon god fight

I use soul arrow as much as possible to break down the rubble... if I can't line it up I just wait as soon as he looks away and floor it and slash the rubble.

Well I used warding to get through the first section, then used my new dragon sword in the second which stopped me from moving quickly but took down any wall in one hit and with a little playing around that did it.

Now what spell to get with my new soul... Also what does the message that the fog has cleared mean? Can I still return and get that world to black tendency to do all of those things or should I have done that first?

You couldn't go past 1-2 before because the fog was too thick. So, it said you needed to defeat an archdemon to get past it which you just did. So, now you can go to 1-3.
Get world 2 to black tendency? Yeah, you can still do that.

Well I found scirvir and showed him the sword so I guess next I can make it black tendency - although I should probably beat some other worlds/level up a bit first.

Beat 1-2 red dragon just now. Before that, farmed a little on the blue knights at 1-2 archstone as Jodou suggested to quickly ramp up my arrow stock and grab a couple more soul levels to put into STR. Killing the dragon at Soul 22-ish only net me 7K souls, but I was able to grab the winged spear and will go back and get the purple flame shield later. Yeah, it's hard to tell if you're doing anything even zoomed in with the bow, although you can see the times you miss. Took me a little adjusting to get the timing and zoom right. >_<

Hopefully I'll fare better against the skellies w/the new shield and pumped up stats.

Corpses, bag miners, geckos... everything is fresh. NOC dialog is reset. Pretty much everything. Only you keep your stuff and the guys are tougher.

Man this game is as hard as Castlevania: Simon's Quest if not harder T.T I died like 15 times in 1-1. And quiet many on 1-2 lol. Got so much souls from failing here and there I got to soul lvl 20 already and still hasn't finished 1-2 lol. Anyone here got any tips for thief?

Ummm I just killed the vendor in the first level and died later on and went back and now he is gone and I can not buy the armor I was eyeing. Is there any way to get that from another vendor? I only killed him because I saw a blood splatter and it showed a guy fighting him in there and I just wanted to see if I was better but now I do not have him selling me stuff....Its the vendor in 1-1 when your making tour way up to the top and if you go right there are boards that you have to knock down to get to him and afterwards you have to go up the wall with archers and a knight at the top....

The vendor disappears after you beat the level.

If you kill an NPC, they're dead. They don't come back.

1-2 question. I'm at the very beginning and I have a question and a concern. I've finished 1-1 and 2-1.

At the VERY beginning of 1-2 after clearing the room with all those slime creatures that shoot spears there is a large hallway on the right with a gate. IGN's guide is telling me some guy named Ostrava is supposed to be back there. I'm not seeing him. (That was my concern)

My question is HOW THE HELL do you get across that first bridge? I've tried running across it several times only to get caught in flames EVERY TIME. Usually I'm only about halfway. Is there another pass I'm missing here?

Nope, there's no other way. You just have to time it so that you run just as behind the dragon. Also, if Ostrava isn't there, its probably because he died in 1-1.
If he died in 1-1 is this a bad thing?
There's a little path on 1-1 that you can go rescue him but I'm sure you will be able to find him in 1-2 too. If you pass that first part of the bridge there will be an underground way on the side of the tower if you head left after entering the underground way and follow it to the end you will find a solder dude there he will help you kill some stuff but most often he's slow and useless lol. I just finished 1-2 at lvl 23 lol >.> talking about over leveled lol.

Yeah I'm about a 23 too. I'm having no trouble defeating anything just can't get across the bridge. Hopefully I can find this Ostrava guy and if not hopefully he's not important.

from reading on the net it seems he's dead because I have the Mosoleum Key in my inventory. Is this a bad thing if he's dead? Do I need him for anything?
Not sure if that was a spoiler or not.
You don't need him for anything. You'll just miss out on a couple items.
OK cool, I'm glad he's dead then.
Well I found scirvir and showed him the sword so I guess next I can make it black tendency - although I should probably beat some other worlds/level up a bit first.
OK, well I had some wierdness happen tonight related to that section. I decided after taking out Leechmonger that I would follow the "all events in one playthrough" part of the guide. First off, Leechmonger - yeah, I upped my dexterity a bit (more damage with the bow), got flame arrows, and used the clever rat ring (I let one of those flame spear guys beat on me a while till it activated). Took down Leechmonger in like 2 minutes ;).

Then I played around in 5-2 for a bit and got annihilated by a black phantom in there - some dude with a big sword. I tried it a few times but I couldn't take him down. I ended up getting all the treasure he was guarding though anyway. I then proceeded to lose a few times on the club dudes as well and finally just gave up on that.

So, OK, on to the black WT events in world 2. I had to use ephemeral eyes/suicide about 4 times to make it dark. Then I went all the way down and no Scirvir. So, OK, I did it again - the WT didn't look any different graphically but when I went this time he was there. I almost screwed it up because I let him heal (didn't realize it wasn't just a one-time heal but a long lasting healing that he casts). Eventually I beat him down though. So I got the item he has, then made my way to the primevil demon and killed him without leaving the world (by the way, remember when I said I might have killed him earlier - NO WAY. I didn't realize he was a huge fat slug thing - if someone had mentioned that I would have known I hadn't seen him before!). Anyway, supposedly that puts the WT back near white again. The guide says to take out Flamelurker next and it should go to pure white. So I took on Flamelurker and got slaughtered the first two times. The good news is that I'm getting good at taking the back way ;). Finally, I just held up that purple flame shield and nailed him with soul arrow over and over. I still had to heal a few times though. Then, when I had him down to one more shot I was pretty hurt but I thought I could get the last one in on time. Big mistake - we killed each other simultaneously!. Has this happened to anyone else?

Now, this is where it gets strange. I really thought I'd be screwed because what it did is this:

1) It said I failed and died
2) I got the trophy for beating Flamelurker
3) I got sent back to the 2-2 archstone I believe (forget exactly - maybe it was the Nexus?)
4) However, I was back in body form!
5) Crystal geckos were back
6) No souls for beating the boss

So I didn't know what to think - it's like I failed and won at the same time. But the WT seemed the same and I didn't have the 2-3 archstone available. So I went to 4-2 to commit suicide first (didn't want to fall on my way to 2-3 and die in body form on world 2 right now and mess up the WT). Then I went to 2-2 and took the shortcut again. I thought I'd have to fight him again, but no, it was clear. Luckily I got Flamelurker's soul from the archstone (my big fear was that this would be gone). Then I could warp there later. So that's a relief.

However, white phantom Scirvir is not where he's supposed to be. Even though I didn't die in body form I guess I didn't get the credit for killing a boss (though it worked in every other sense - resetting geckos, etc). So now I guess maybe I can proceed to 2-3 and kill that boss and have it turn white? The guide says to talk to Scirvir first and then go get that sword from the 2-3 boss. But will it be OK if I kill the 2-3 boss (to hopefully make the WT pure white) and then get that sword and just bring it to Scirvir the first time I talk to him (assuming he shows up)?

I will be travelling all week and would like to wrap up the events for that world in case the WT goes on the fritz while I'm away (since it is affected by online stuff). That means trying the 2-3 boss tomorrow I guess and I don't even know what that is .

Make sure you aren't starting at the very beginning, you are safe a little ways into the bridge (there will probably be a message saying it's safe here). And run right as the thing passes by. A warning, don't run across the second bridge, go downstairs (or just kill the dragon from the top of the first if you have time and magic or arrows).

Any of you guys know how to get those trophies that says get the best weapon on shardstone, spiderstone, etc?

Also, make sure your equipment is light, it makes you run faster. I always get caught at the flames everytime too before.

If your talking about the one in 1-2 how many souls do you get? I never gave it a thought about killing it but if it is worth it I might go back and kill it.

10,000. Personally, it was worth the 10 mins it took just for safe passage across the bridge.

If you're a royal (or got the magic regen ring some other way) it's worth it, just stand at the top of the tower after the first bridge and shoot it through the little hole when it swoops down. It takes some practice to get the timing of hitting R1 then the right trigger so it aims correctly, but it's satisfying. You can also get weapons from where it was on 1-1.

In terms of just getting souls, there are better places to go, even running through 1-1 a few times is probably more efficient - and provides a good supply of healing items.

Can you use the red dragon demon's soul for a spell or weapon or anything (it gives one of them as well).

Does anyone know if this game supports 7.1 Surround sound? I have the Turtle Beach X41 7.1's and would love to take advantage of these. BTW 7.1 on Uncharted 2 is Amazing.

Upgrade a weapon to the best it can get using those types of stones.

No.
Crazy WT problem.
I read up on your problem and check this out: http://demons-souls.com/wiki/

It explains there may be a bug when killing a demon and dying simultaneously. Very similar to what you experienced. The bug there was regarding a different demon (the 2-3 demon I think, so you better be extra careful! ;)) after which a future game event won't trigger and the game won't progress, but it is similar to your situation because your WT "event" didn't trigger after dying at the same time as killing the boss.

I am unclear about the other ways to get white WT "points" but they seem dependent on having a boss left (e.g., killing invading black phantoms, successfully killing a boss with other blue phantoms you summon).

Killing the last boss should get you there.

For the 1-2 dragon, I only got 7K souls at soul 22-ish for killing it.

You can easily run across the entire length of the top of the bridge using the same strategy you did for the first part. It's actually easier to do this than to go under the bridge due to
some difficult to target dog-like critters towards the end of the passage.

Man, I have been trying to farm for chunks of cloudstone forever with no luck. I did so much in my first play through with no results, I said I'll get it next go round. Still no luck. Have black WT and sword of searching. I have been chucking out shards by the hundreds. Think I need 1 or 2 more chunks. Hope I don't have to wait til next play to loot them off that corpse (again).

On the plus the baby rays are easy and give lots of souls. I also got a pure darkmoon stone this go, which was great.

Killed the 2-3 boss Saturday and the WT problem resolved itself - when I came back in the debris was gone and the sword was available. Then I went and found Scirvir and he asked me to find it and then I just talked to him immediately again and he gave me the pure greystone (I think that's what it was). That was actually easier than the guide method where it has you go to see him, then beat 2-3, then visit him again! I also got a pure clearstone from the crystal gecko near the 2-3 boss. I was a bit freaked out to see a crystal gecko right at the start of the boss fight seemingly within inches of the dragon's head, and right where he looks. But I was able to run over and blast the gecko with soul arrow and the dragon didn't attack me there. That was a relief as I almost chose to ignore the gecko (but got that pure stone from it instead!).

So then my boys wanted to see some of the bosses I beat earlier. At first I thought they were out of luck until I did NG+ (which I'm nowhere near getting to yet) but then I remembered the blue summon stone! So I put it down by flamelurker and had someone summon me within a minute or two. Then I did it again at the Adjudicator and someone summoned me and another guy. Man, do those boss fights go by SO MUCH easier with multiple people!

It was nice to clear about 30K souls with very little effort though. But then I went back to the giant spider and the Tower Knight and no one summoned me there. I thought that was odd as I figured more people would want help on the earlier bosses. And Iw as playing Sat night around 11pm Pacific so I thought a fair amount of people would be playing then. Oh well - guess maybe I should try it at Leechmonger.

In any case, it was good fun and a nice way to show the boss fights off to the kids fairly quickly.

So I finished up the world 2 BT/WT events and am starting to work on world 4 as per the guide. But now I have to go out of town for a week . Man, I wish I could somehow work on my character on my DS while I was away! I'd be a sucker for a handheld version of this game if it allowed that (yeah, I know if such a thing ever happened it would be for the PSP probably but I never bring that with me on trips).

Now that I have the dragon god soul, do I want firestorm or God's Wrath? Or should I take fireball because I can cast it more than twice...

I also beat 1-3 - that boss fight was easy
Biorr should follow me into all boss fights
The level took me a lot of tries to get through though.
Where can I sell items early on?
There is no selling items. You can leave extra items with the storage guy in the Nexus so they don't weigh you down. I actually like the lack of selling items, it seems more realistic, I always found it silly that you can walk up to any person in an rpg and just unload thousands of useless items for tons of cash (Fallout 3 which limited the cash supply of sellers made sense in this way, although ends up being somewhat annoying because there are so many sellers you never really run out of a cash supply).

I hope more rpgs take this economic model of mixing experience and cash, it makes decisions more meaningful.

Unrealistic if NPCs take all your items, yes, but we should be able to sell items none-the-less. I'm sure in the game world someone could use my extra Bastard Sword or Claymore or Shield, no? So basically my inventory (storage) is going to be uber cluttered soon enough...lame.

So I made a barbarian should I make something else? So far I have like no ranged weapons at all not even magic. Took me FOREVER to get to the first boss. Not sure if I suck or what.....

Anywho I think I'm Soul level 10 or so. I'm using the plate armor from the shop guy inside the first level, using the heater shield, and the battle axe.

It was a shock to me at first that we couldn't sell items but now it makes sense. Being able to trade items for souls would make items the same as the "storied hero" type of souls we find which act as soul banks to use at our discretion. Using items as a source of souls too would erase the risk of dying.

What soul level are you? I think if you hit a soul level and place a blue stone where similar soul leveled players wouldn't be then you probably won't get summoned. Basically out-leveling an area.

I plan on playing NG+ but I have a concern about raising my soul level too high and not finding players to join anymore. At some point I will artificially cap my level.

You just suck, for now. I started with a non-ranged character as well and I died multiple times on the front steps of the first level. Now I'm much better. Still die a lot though.

I tried a ranged character too but I find the melee combat much more fun. You also learn to judge an enemy's range and attack pattern much faster when you have no choice but to hit it with a stick.

You will find a bow soon and you can always learn ranged spell attacks. There are times it's helpful to have them, like when you want to snipe at a gecko from far away, but the vast majority of time I am fighting up close.

In the game, people need souls in order to survive. Why would they give you souls for a dozen slave shields or whatever? It doesn't really make sense to be able to sell. As for things becoming cluttered, just drop stuff if you aren't going to use them.

I have to admit I've been spoiled by RPGs where I unload a dozen short swords and shields for a few GP. Baldur's Gate was one I remember. It definitely makes sense to not be able to sell junk.

But with rare items, it'd be nice if the game recognized you already had a thief ring, so instead of getting a second one later in the game, there would be a soldier's soul on the dead body instead. It's a very minor complaint, though. I'm loving the game. :D

Yeah... it was hard to just start dropping stuff constantly. In fact, I need to go through my bank inventory and drop loads of stuff... like slave shields.

It does make sense though. Perhaps not the slave shields but a Bastard or Claymore sword, an upgraded shield? Surely lower level characters would like to buy those. I mean, the whole point is upgrading your weapons throughout the game. Do what Fallout 3 did and limit the amount of souls each seller/NPC has. This would keep players from abusing the system but allow them to get some extra souls and unload useless (to them) items.

where do I get a talisman so I can cast miracles? there's an explanation in the guide for 2-2, but it seems way too complicated. i just spent 20000 souls on evacuate, but now can't cast it!!
