I don't play on Crucible often unless I have something specific I wanna get out of it (bounties, exp, etc).

So my kd is at a p. solid 1.0

 
Kd isn't really that important. I feel like all that matters is if you break even or are around that .9-1.1 range. Because at that point you are contributing to your team without hurting the team.

Whats odd for me is that there isnt really one map in Destiny that i really love. But games like Halo 3, Black ops, MW1, Gears all had some maps that i really liked and enjoyed playing on. Destiny pvp maps all seem cluttered, most are asymmetrical, and easy for shotgun users to just use them anywhere on the map. I hate to say this but maybe this game needs a little stopping power to the rifles so shotgunners cant run through bullets and one shot you. I really didnt like that in Gears 3, but that was a different type of game. The new map Cathedral of Dusk, whenever i get that map i just leave. The map is way too big, and i spend more time running around than shooting my gun. They need better map designs for Destiny 2, and better servers or matchmaking.

 
Yea destiny has always had close quarters maps and almost every map has one spawn that's way better than the other. What's even more laughable is that all of TTKs map additions were all leaned towards extremely close quarters and Imo heavily favor shotguns.
 
Dedicated servers... abso-FREAKIN-lutely!

And the whole hunkering-down playstyle has been a problem since TTK dropped. 

Don't know if some streamer made a recommendation or what, but it's gotten ridiculous.  Seems every match I'm in has groups of players never leaving their spawn-side.  Just a bunch of idiots crouching around corners waiting for some to come to them.

-need to capture a control point to take the lead??? NO-OOPE, gotta protect this corner. :roll:

-need to backup a teammate??? NO-OOPE, gotta wait for heavy to spawn in 2 minutes. :wall:

Really has sucked the fun out of PvP.

But then again i usually end up on a team full of terrible players, so i end up losing a lot since this new matchmaking system has been put in. I just got done with the daily PVP, which was Rift, and i was able to clear the room, grab the spark, and went to run and got killed. Then i look behind me and my whole team is back in their spawn. I mean dont people realize that playing defense is just going to give you a loss?

Nothing beats running around and netting 30+ kills a game. My win percentage is pretty shitty. Could care less about that. I also always run into streamers and it's fun playing against them. I despise iron banner. That shit is laggier than anything else on destiny. And I don't even understand why iron banner is always so laggy. It's just control.

I think what separates 7 and I is the fact that you want to have every single drop in the game and I'm sure you're striving to be max light. I just wanted my pvp gear and the few things that are reasonably attainable, the rest I could care less about. Already have a full pvp armor set for each class. I kind of weigh my options out, for example, the slight chance that a nightfall will give me the one thing I need isn't worth it to me to run three characters through a week for 4 months in hopes that I finally get that one thing. And I know you complete any activity that has a "chance" for something good. I'm done having hopes of getting that random lucky drop. It's not worth the time to me and it's not fun. That "chance" is what keeps the addicted people playing pve and I'm sure that's what bungee is doing. This game feeds on the addictive nature of people lol.

Yeeeeeessss getting those Guardian kills are what makes it fun. Last night even after loosing I got a double snipeagainst two other snipers that had their sights on me. It felt soooo good I was happy even after all the crappy games I had.

I enjoy the PvP a ton especially with friends. Actually that is the only reason I play the game, if you guys were to say we are no longer playing this until Destiny 2 comes out then I would leave the game completely since it really is not a ton of fun (we even know where the enemies spawn in most maps, that's how many times we have done things)

I have all the sets that I need to get all guardians to 311, I'll do Raids just cause its fun doing them with friends (even though we will all get shafted :bs: ) , but after not seeing anything come out of the NFs for the past weeks I have 0 desire to even go into them

 
Since people are talking PVP, Halo 5 is excellent in that regard. I got back to playing games again this weekend and decided to finally spend some real time with that and it really was a nice change of pace. But I know I'm not going to be giving up on group/clan activities on Destiny anytime soon.
 
Since Taken King is $35 at Target I'm hoping it is that price elsewhere (and in particular, Best Buy).  I might just pick this up for PS4 after sinking 1500+ hours into it on X1.  Maybe you guys can help a "newbie" (with tons of experience) through the Raid using a strange controller who has no idea how chat even works on a PS4 (do I even have a headset - did it come with one?  If not, any recommendations?).

Though I will have to say that there must be some networking differences because Iron Banner on the X1 was pretty solid - saw very few laggy people there last time it ran.  I like how it is so much easier/faster to run through it now than when it first came out.

Trials has been frustrating as usual especially now that we have to depend on RNG to get drops there as well (since just like before getting to 5 wins tends to elude me - get so close, like 4-0, then just don't get the 5th).  So gold drop last night was the exact same Warlock boots I got from my only successful run to 5 wins last week.  I haven't gotten a single other piece of armor.  Though still that was better than the 304 artifact drop I got from a gold package last week :bomb:.

PS4 controller is great and yeah it came with an earbud headset.

Or any headset that has a mic and works off a 3.5mm jack.

I've been using the Silver PS headset (and yup, mine finally cracked in the middle of the headband). These can work wired, thru USB, to your console or off the 3.5 jack straight to the controller. Nice in that regard and usually pop up on sale around $20. But, the durability is a problem. Mine were fine for 6 months, then they developed a stress fracture on the headband. Eventually broke.

They still work, but they sorta just rest on my head all loose and floppy-like. Might be time to bust out my Gold headset

 
Some days I really like crucible and others it makes me want to completely quit the game. It doesn't even matter if I'm doing good or not. What I can't stand are the idiot teammates. 7, what you said summed up a rift game I had earlier. I grabbed the spark, ran as close as I could to the rift and literally no one on my team was pressing forward. Another time I let someone grab the spark, I killed the entire team, and we didn't manage to ignite the rift because the spark runner just wasn't moving. We ended up winning the game, but I had 8200 points while my team barely did anything.

Another thing I don't understand is why whenever there's a new player with a super low grimoire, they're always on my team. I know they could be good but 99% of the time they're acting like they've never played the game before.

If there was a way to just not get paired with idiots, crucible would be a lot of fun to me. That's why I love rumble so much after hating it for the longest time. At least in rumble if I lose, I know it's because I did something and not because I was on a team of five people running back and forth between A and C rather than just holding one down and bottlenecking like a good team.
 
Ok and I finished my trials bounties on two characters and I'll be one game short of finishing on the third so I'll just finish him next week.

Got a 308 auto rifle (is it any good or should I stick it into something else?), a 309 RL and a 310 Hereafter.

On my hunter I was in a decent group. We made it to six wins, mercy intact, but then lost 2 games and we were all done with our bounties so we didn't feel like playing anymore or starting over. Got the helmet, but if course it's 300 and my current is 310. I don't want to end up with a 306 when I have that 310 so I'll hold onto it and hope I get another one someday to infuse into it. All the trials gear for the Hunter looks awesome.
 
It's funny that the whole package is $35 when you see people in the code trading threads still trying to get that much or more for just TTK and the expansions.
 
How much longer before vanilla Destiny becomes free to download and all you pay for are the expansions (and emotes)... hmmm.

I mean, I got the digital CE for TTK off of a trader here on CAG for 20 bucks. Should try to aim for somewhere around that price, no?

To clarify (and I guess I left this part out), $35 is the Black Friday pricing that just came out for Target (https://www.cheapassgamer.com/topic/350724-target-black-friday-ad-2015/). But it seems like most stores have the same games for the same prices on BF, so I expect this to be an Amazon lightning deal and hopefully Best Buy has it as well.

If Best Buy has it and I can order it online (I stopped going to stores on BF like 5 years ago) with GCU it could be as low as $28 and for that price I'd probably snag it.

And yeah, you'll have to download a buttload of patches. Taken King is just the base game plus a DLC code for the expansions. Then there's all the updates since then. I'm not sure if the Taken King expansion includes all the updates that happened to Vanilla and TDB/HoW but I would hope it does. So maybe it wouldn't quite be 70GB. For the X1 I already had the game digitally plus whatever patches were current when TTK came out. But just TTK by itself was pretty big from what I remember. I bought the full game + DLC, used the code for TTK, and traded the disc in to Amazon so that TTK only ended up costing me about $12.

Edit: It looks as of right now that Best Buy does not have Taken King on sale for BF. But they still may match the Target price at some point.

You are not going to want to do everything again are you? I'm still in the microsoft is dead to me camp. Halo 5 didnt do anything to change my mind.

 
FYI if you are restarting: sub classes gain xp at a crawl. Got my Hunter to level 40 and still had 5 nodes to fill on Gunslinger. Never even touched Bladedancer. 

 
Alright I did two nightfalls and got a 294 fusion rifle and 10 3oC. I think I'm officially at the point where I'm done doing nightfalls and weekly crucible bounties. Right now all I can really hope for would be a weapon or armor with a good roll and they're not really worth it to me.

So I guess that just leaves hard raids and trials bounties for me. Might have to start looking into another game to play for a little bit.

I heard post apocalyptic Boston is nice this time of year.
 
Yeah thats why I bother with trials bounties even though my KD in trials is shameful...need to practice sniping I guess...

I never got any exotics but heard tales of mighty awesome gear drops...all my items dropped at 305 from the gold package...kind of annoying but better than nothing.

I wouldn't mind starting from the beginning. I'm not sure how much I'd have in me for getting 3 characters maxed out again. But it's been a while since I ran through the main story.

I got a 313 Light Beyond Nemesis from my very first Silver package and then nothing but blue engrams in the 4 since then. It was nice, at least, to get a helmet since the Raid has only given me one (normal) helmet in many, many runs so far. I can't see ever going over 310 on the helmet slot by depending on the Raid.

Going through the story again is pretty cool with the new quest system. A lot of content is ignored though. Devil's Lair strike is the only one that's required to complete the main story. And Will of Crota is required for TDB quest. All other year one strikes don't factor into any quest lines. It's kind of a shame because some of those strikes are awesome and I'm sure a lot of new players are just ignoring them.

The only thing that always bugs me about the quests is when you get a step that's go back to the tower and talk to so and so. Why do I have to do that? I've been talking to Cayde through my comm device the entire mission, so why do I have to go to the tower and talk to him in person? He's not able to tell me where to go next over the radio?

If the Warlocks had just rezzed a few seconds earlier it probably would have been OK. I really hate wiping on the final Oryx stage - has happened once or twice to my group. One time it must have been lag because we were all shooting like normal.

Wow you single handedly made us wipe. I would have revived myself earlier but i figured it was a wipe and i didnt think his health was that low.

My raid runs started bad. My hunter has 320 and 315 gloves. Needed a chest or boots as those were 308 and 310. So we beat golgoroth and he drops me 314 and 305 gloves. WTF! My cape is 310 also, and the daughters refused to drop me a hard mode cape. But later i was able to get some 313 boots from oryx. My titan made out well, he went from 309 boots to 318, and i also got a 315 helmet to complete the hard mode raid set. Warlock got boots i think that went from 314 to 317. Got a 319 shotgun that ill probably infuse into my 1000YS. So it wasnt too bad of a week. I also got a Helm of Saint-14 from my weekly crucible bounties. Nightfalls i got 11 three of coin, ghost shell, and alchemist rainment. or whatever its called.

 
uh oh. Couple times now the past week when i turn my samsung tv on, it shuts itself off and back on again. Might be signs of it dying soon, and i dont have a backup tv at the moment that can use hdmi devices.

Yup, got it downloaded and ready to go. Might wait until I beat more of Lords of the Fallen.

Did 3 NFs with Wii & Pork and got 0, nothing, nada, except the Strike gloves that the boss wears. On the other hand one lucky bastard came out with 39 strange coins :drool: . Friends playing Destiny has gone down to 5, so yup I think we are going to start moving forward (about freaking time)

That sucks man, there are some decent deals out there for TV's, heck I think BB has an Insignia for $159 today just in case. It can also be a sign to that it no longer wants to play Destiny with you :whistle2:

It's so hard for me to get the strafing and sniping thing down. I just want to stand in one spot, but obviously that isn't a good idea. Once I actually get decent at knowing where head level is most of the time, I'll have to work on getting faster with aiming so I'm not just constantly looking down my sights.

When i snipe i usually stand still and move RS to aim. I cant seem to strafe and shoot consistently.

I know Tukai wants to hard raid so send him a message if you still need people. Maybe Jem too.

 
Got 310 Helm of Saint-14, 20 strange coins, and a spare change pulse rifle from weekly crucible bounties. Also bought a special weapon engram hoping to get a sweet roll on a 1000 yard stare and got a 310 Hereafter instead. Also im up to 48 wins in rumble thanks to it being the daily. Only need 2 more for grimiore but i dont feel like putting me under that pressure of having to actually win. But with my hawksaw i was dominating.

 
I've been playing other games but I am always online after 4pm CST. I'll raid HM anyday of the week, I just want to fight Oryx. the game isn't fun to me to just get to Oryx and bail only to see others with the check point attempt or complete it the next day. I'm stuck with 310 primaries until I get more kills/drops. That is the only thing I haven't liked is the lack of ways to get over 310 primaries. It's either a HM Oryx kill with a chance of a drop or beat a bunch of try hards to get to the lighthouse.

I killed oryx 3 times this week and didnt get 1 hm primary to drop. -_- Sucks when you go through all that trouble to kill oryx and get nothing useful. Sometimes its not worth the time. But yeah, it was frustrating early on when we would get to oryx and then stop and not finish it.
