Diablo III / Diablo II Battle.net Thread
Anyone else give blacksmith crafting a shot? My friend is making millions by crafting 6 property gloves. It's crazy..
The blackmsith is so expensive and random, don't see how anybody could make money doing that.
Stuck on the Keep Depths right now. Not much room to run around and I seem to get elite mobs of those tongue lashers with extra fast(they are fast enough with that bump up...)
I got really lucky on my Keep Depths layout and champ/rare enemy rolls when I was there for the first time. I think I only had to refresh using resume for the later part (post-siegebreaker) two or three times because of abhorrent champ/rare enemy rolls.. Ghom should be pretty simple for you when you make it to him. Just don't touch the putrid cloud shit and you'll more or less be fine.

And yes, fuck Soul Lashers and any of their kind. They are my #2 hated enemy next to anything that leaps.
Glad the commodities auctions are finally back up. However, with announcement that gems are going to become cheaper to craft (up to a certain level) I don't really want to buy any now. Ugh...
Selling anything up to the last three tiers of gems, are being sold at a loss for the seller and only a marginal increase in cost for the buyer. Which is honestly pretty nice for the buyer. Wonder how long it'll be before idiots realize that the AH takes a 15% cut on items sold and they're losing money because they spent more on crafting the gems than the money they got back from the AH.

So right now it's a buyers market for anybody in the market for gems.

And god damnit, now I wish I kept my top tier recipe for Emerald. I could have made several million instead of using it. I would have much preferred selling it for money to buy gear with instead.
What's the highest level gem that can actually drop? I can't remember seeing anything above Flawless Square.
I believe you are correct, that's a tier 8 gem.

01 - Chipped
02 - Flawed
03 - (No Prefix/Suffix)
04 - Flawless
05 - Perfect
06 - Radiant
07 - Square
08 - Flawless Square (Best drop-able gem)

^^ Crafting costs lowered for the above if I remember correctly. Selling this aren't a big deal because they drop and don't always have a cost attached to them since you don't absolutely need to craft/upgrade them.

09 - Perfect Square (Sold at a loss after 15% fee)
10 - Radiant Square (Sold at a loss after 15% fee)
11 - Star (Sold at a loss after 15% fee)
12 - Flawless Star (Sold at a loss after 15% fee)
13 - Perfect Star (Small profit margin)
14 - Radiant Star (Large profit margin)

This explains it a little bit more (referring to the chart, not the post):

http://www.reddit.com/r/Diablo/comments/upjew/economics_gem_sellers_are_losing_money_and/

I more or less verified it this morning before I left for work. So buying a Flawless Star is better than buying lower gems and crafting one. The only thing cheaper for a buyer would be to find all the gems and craft them themselves.

EDIT: Market might inflate a little bit after the commodity rush dies down a little bit possibly. Though it's hard to say and I wouldn't count on it based on the other markets. So I don't recommend trying to make money there.

My friend got the Radiant Star Amethyst recipe last night, but he can't craft it b/c he (or anyone we know) doesn't have the recipes in between :'(

haven't found any jewel recipes yet - only a few Exalted blacksmith ones. If you can sell them now, ill have to see if worth anything.(have doubles of one, actually).

I have 5 perfect topaz's that ive crafted up myself. Have 4 slots in inventory though, so not worth upgrading to Radiant quite yet.

You'd have to get very lucky on the rolls, but I can see how gloves would be in high demand given it's the only body piece with IAS. Roll high INT or DEX with IAS and anything else like crit or crit dmg would sell for a couple mil.

Friend was wearing Tal Rasha chest armor and that had 16% IAS i believe ;)

Gloves, bracers and shoulders you can make a profit from. 87k to craft, and the mats are relatively cheap if you've been salvaging.

Obviously for shoulders you've got high Life % and AR to sell. Bracers it's a bit tougher but nice ones will be worth millions.

Legendaries (and sets) can have IAS on them even if that slot normally can't have IAS.

Tal Rasha's Guardianship, Inna's Glory, Andariel's Visage (BiS helm), Boj Anglers, Lacuni Prowlers, etc...

OK, only RARE items with it. YOU KNOW WHAT I MEANT.

I'm just waiting for 1.03 to level my BS all the way and use the recipes I've been saving. I really need gloves and shoulders still, but I've been getting a few frequently just doing chest runs so maybe I'll get lucky. I'm curious with the commodities back up now if it's worth breaking down your own items or vendoring them for the cash to buy them still.

Well, my hope that I'd be able to progress to the end of act 3 quickly dwindled. It feels like there's a huge difficulty spike after Siegebreaker, which isn't helped by poor terrain and the abundance of licker and phasebeast elites that clutter the small area. With the impending nerf to inferno, I wonder if it's even worth trying to grind my way through the rest of act 3, as doing it for the challenge isn't worth it if I don't have a reasonable shot at making it to Diablo before the nerfs hit.

I guess I'll do some farming before I decide whether or not to go on hiatus until 1.03. Which gives out a better RoI for time spent, 5 stack NV resplendent chest farming /w magic find set or 5 stack NV Siegebreaker?

I need an act 3 chest farming buddy or buddies because I'm quickly losing heart in farming. Been doing the same chest for the past 2-3 days with absolutely nothing to show for it but the gold drops along the way. The nail in the coffin was getting a 1h bow with 900 LoH, 220 DEX, and. . . wait for it. . .400 motherfucking DPS. This game just loves to shit on me with RNG and you know the very next rare bow I got was 800 DPS with shit stats.

I'm about to go down to Blizzard and strangle someone lol.
I guess I'll do some farming before I decide whether or not to go on hiatus until 1.03. Which gives out a better RoI for time spent, 5 stack NV resplendent chest farming /w magic find set or 5 stack NV Siegebreaker?
Right now I'd have to say if you can farm siegebreaker easily, do it for the 2 guaranteed rares. I'm still stuck on Ghom because my gear just isn't there yet and being melee is a big FU for that boss. Chest does not guarantee a rare, but I'd say 75% of the time you will get one. And you wouldn't want to stack NV just for the chest since you can farm it VERY easy in a matter of seconds if you know the spot. Just use the MF gear with 200%+.
I decided to install D3 since I couldn't find a buyer at the right price. Will be playing hardcore exclusively as soon as I get a character to 10.
Here is a warning. The enemies can come quick in packs and wipe you out. It is not like d2 when you can stand there and fight/run away when things get tough. Even if you take it slow you can be overrun pretty easily. I haven't died yet, but it is different than what I was used to in D2.

someone posted this in chat...

legit?

Once you reach Nightmare in HC, lemme know :)

That fist weapon is not legit. Some Redditers figured out how to mess with tags and link random shit.

@Jodou, I usually run with 2 others, sometimes 3. You're welcome to join us when we have room (assuming your MF is good enough).

Got my new laptop today, installed d3 and I've been playing around in single player for a little while. Got a demon hunter to level 8 so far. I gotta say, I really miss the days of frozen orb sorcs and javazons.

Well, I'm officially stuck at Inferno Belial for my DH. I cannot for the life of me kite properly. I always end up auto-attacking when I should be running. Plus the highest DPS I could go is 25k, not enough to one shot those annoying Snakes. Looks like I'll play other classes while waiting for the upcoming patch for a chance to get some better gear.

I have been playing a short while and love the game (just like the first two) the playability is fantastic, my Demon Hunter is up to level 30 and I'm now facing Diablo himself. He is proving a tough cookie to beat but i will persist and triumph. Happy Gaming

This fixes that problem:

Hmmm... I thought Diablo didn't teleport in Phase 3...? Asshole caught me by surprise 12 minutes into the fight and then back to back fireballed at close range. So close.

Word. My MF is a little low, 190-ish so let me know what I need to get it up to. I'm slowly building a better set from blue drops because people on the AH want to be retarded and charge 2 mil for a 20% blue. Yeah, not wasting my money on that lol. Also, I assume you guys farm the act 3 depths chest, right? That's all I have access to until I can overcome Ghom.

Learned from D2 some tips for hardcore that have served me well so far. Never play HC while distracted, always exit if you experience any type of lag, and never play when getting sleepy.

I also learned to alt+f4 at any sign of danger.

So, in D3, if I kill the program via task manager do I actually exit the game or will my character be standing there getting beat on for 10 seconds?

I haven't tried, but I'm pretty confident it would be the latter.

I'm too in love with Path of Exile's approach to hardcore mode to ever go back to the traditional implementation. (when your character dies it simply becomes a normal mode character rather than you losing hours of work due to some lag spike)

PoE's is interesting and great for some people who just want to play mostly safe since you might as well always start off as a hardcore character, but for people who actually like to play hardcore, they're just going to delete the character when it becomes normal anyway.

The other awesome thing that PoE does though, which I think is way cooler than their hardcore, is their custom league events. The cutthroat league, where everyone has to make a new character and the game suddenly becomes an open world PvP gankfest is fantastic.

For me, I expect to die at least once before beating normal simply because I don't even know wtf the monsters do yet, but thats fine. I like going back and learning from my mistakes and the idea of the very harsh penalty of making your character unplayable is motivation enough to attract a certain type of player and keep others away.

Depends on your class and how safe you play it. Some classes will have a far easier time of it than others. Also if you do group play with people you're familiar with or not will make a world of difference.

And yeah, in Diablo 3 there are no real "easy outs" like Diablo 2 had. Teleports to town take time and can be interrupted. Logging out takes 10 seconds, so closing out the game will leave you in for at least 10 seconds. It's possible hardcore has its own servers so latency is less of a problem there, I don't know for certain but I personally don't get much lag. I plan to shoot for level 60 hardcore sometime after I finish Inferno on my Wizard.

For me it's the always-online nature of these games directly conflicting with what makes hardcore mode fun and exciting rather than cheap and punishing.

Wasting hours away and having it be my fault is just fine but eating a shit sandwich because of server issues...not so much.

But yes, PoE is rad...until you look at the skill tree. But then you cry for an hour or so and it's right back to being rad.;)

playing a monk. nothing difficult so far. i am learning what the different monster skills are so thats about the best i was hoping for out of normal. jailer is going to suck when things actually do damage.

wouldn't some of the teleporting attacks help you escape jailers? I haven't run into jailers yet w/my monk but in theory it makes sense you would be able to get out of many situations such as these.

found my first 1000+ weapon, but was only a 2-hander with no too great stats. Oh well.

Made it to Arreat Crater though from being stuck in Keep Depths, down to the tower before I gave up after some ridic. mob blocked me on tower stairs.

So... with the economy getting worse every day, I think I'm just gonna cash out before the RMAH and 1.0.3 go live.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NUQTATy5dc&feature=plcp

Anticipating billions of gold being flooded is making me cringe. Gonna just dump my 50 million on the official Blizz forums for now and I'll regrind it after the patch hits.

Try using Tempest Rush as a monk if you can spare the skill slot. That, or Fists of Thunder/Thunderclap for the quick teleport. And save Serenity for Jailer and such if the mobs are nasty.

I've been dumping my gold for the past few weeks. The rate is pretty low now but still better than nothing. I'm getting sick of chest runs
Cash? I just sold 15 million for $180 PayPal/Amazon Payments.
Sorry, I meant what is the exchange rate?

Or are you guys selling it on the down low?

It's like $10-$15/mill.

You can make a thread on the official Diablo 3 Trading Forums, Blizzard doesn't give a shit apparently. As long as you're doing PayPal it seems like.

Oh, Ok. I didn't know if blizzard had a 'bank' (so to speak) set up for the auction house. I am playing on a guest pass, so I haven't seen the new stuff yet. Thanks!

So that guy farming 60 mil gold an hour is making roughly $720 an hour? Wonder what the initial investment is on that...100 keys x 60, 100 PCs? :D

The Real Money Auction House is supposed to go live next Tuesday. But know that if you use the RMAH, they're taking a 15% Auction House cut (if you want it to go into your "Blizzard Balance"), and if you want to cash out to PayPal they're taking another 15% cut on top of that.

So you might be better off selling outside of the game, if you want to take the risk of getting a charge back.

---
From what it sounds like, it seems the farmers are hording gold until the RMAH is out. Which is why I think prices will tank hard on gold, and there'll be hyperinflation. So they haven't made ~anything~ on their initial investment (yet).

Wondering if Blizzard will try combat outside selling of gold at some point once the RMAH is in play, since it cuts into their income.
Not sure how they would since it seems like there would always be some kind of workaround.

Holy shit $180? But IIRC Paypal doesn't cover digital goods due to it being harder to prove.

There's no seller protection, nope. They'll always side with the buyer on stuff like this, so you need to be very careful about who you're selling to.
