Diablo III / Diablo II Battle.net Thread

The servers are more stable now, but it still happens according to some people. I couldn't even play last night because I would get kicked off as soon as I logged back in.

I've been having mana issues with my WD (my main) so I shelved her this weekend for my barbarian. I switched him too pure fire as well and even with my cinder coat and andariels having intelligence rolls, I'm much more viable in T1. Now I just need some magefists and a strength roll maximus.
If you are having Mana problems there is something wrong with your build. WD is my main as well, gear dependency is making us a dying breed.

Add me and message me in game so I can check your gear and spec. I can T4 solo pretty easy, so I wouldnt mind running lower torments with you in order to help you gear up / farm for shards.

Word. I've got plenty of shards but aside from the jade harvester shoulders (a downgrade over my skeleton king pauldrons), and a uhkapian serpent, nothing WD specific has dropped for me. Lots of two handed swords with intelligence and a crap ton of mediocre jewelry seems to be my destiny.

My skills are black widows for mana, acid cloud, spirit walk, soul harvest, gargantuan and BBV. I've mucked around with different passive so I can't remember what they are currently.

What's your in game ID? I usually only play on Friday and Saturday nights.

I am also a weekend warrior so we can grind it out. My first lvl 70 legendary has been my best drop, Starkmetal Kukri, all garbage since then.

Kadala on the otherhand seems to want the D, cuz I get everything from her.

Pretty much my same problem on my Wiz. Most of the legendaries I get are crap. I also crafted the Helm of Rule because I got the plans luckily. For all I wasted on that, the combination of random stats it rolled were so crap, I could not even use it.

I've only crafted Skelon's Deceit and they were only a slight upgrade over my barbarian's pants. Big waste of resources.

I don't have any Mana problems on my WD. I have one of each class and it seems like to me of all the resources mana goes back up the fastest for me.

That said, I need to get her damage up. I seem to have trouble getting as high a DPS as everyone else here seems to get. My Crusader is at 300K right now and that's with a two handed legendary as a one hand with a shield (the Crusaders have a skill to do that). The rest including the WD are all around 200k. I'm doing it wrong. :fridge:

I think maybe me splitting time between all the classes isn't helping either. I've got them all to 70 now though and so I earn Paragon levels no matter who I am on.

For WD I did a pet build and basically run with a small army but lately I've been running my Crusader mostly.

Oh my user name is Motoki#1433 if anyone wants to add me, play, give advice, poke me with sticks and laugh etc. ;)

My advice for early gearing is to do normal difficulty split bounty runs on Act I as a full party (inc. public groups if there are not enough clan members/friends on at the time). You get a chance to get a Ring of Royal Grandeur and it is a great way to build up rift fragments as well. Each run generally takes less than 10 minutes depending how good everyone is. There are plans for horadric caches to get a legendary drop boost very soon.

With early gearing and having mostly rares (yellow), look for trifecta equipment (especially if it has your primary stat) or that can be rollable as trifecta (critical chance, critical damage and attack speed) which are found on rings, amulet and hand slots. You of course need survivability as well which can be focused on with other slots. I would say focus more on resists and armor if you are melee than vitality or life % based gear. For example, I was able to survive fairly easily with 300k life in T2 difficulty. Also focusing on a specific elemental build that has +% damage can dramatically help your damage output but it won't look as good on your stat sheet.

I notice there are a lot of soloers in the clan myself included previously but I have found legendary drop rates are way higher in a full party and clearing generally takes less time. My gear pretty much changed completely in 2 days of fairly heavy play in public groups where it is now all sets or legendaries. It would be nice to eventually get constant clan groups but everyone is still leveling other classes.

I am by no means an expert as I only can do T3 and have yet to try T4 but hopefully it gives an idea what to do for the early stages of gearing up. I just want a thunderfury to drop now.

My WD was fine prepatch with mana. I had a bears build with a Thing of the Deep, 4 piece Zuni and nice axe. I've really been struggling since my pick up radius went way down after dumping the TotD and tying to up my DPS. I relied on health globes and killing within my radius for mana and can't seem to sort it out now.

A socketed weapon with an Emerald is essential.

I have some decent weapons that aren't socketed but with the legendaries I hate wasting a Forgotten Soul on Myriam for a just a chance at a socket. That said I do have a Flawless Imperial Emerald now but it wasn't cheap crafting that darned thing so not like I am sitting on a pile of them yet.

Maybe it's because I'm soloing but I don't get an amazing legendary drop rate. I guess I should try grouping more. I know some people poo poo normal but you can get a ton of stuff really quick that way. Most of it's junk but still more quantity means better shot at decent stuff. I know there are some Torment specific items but you still can get legendaries on normal.

I guess I should go back to grinding on normal for now until I can find a group. I still don't love the idea of PUGing.

*Edited to add: I do use elemental damage bonuses and it does seem to help even if it doesn't show up in the main stat #s. I try to keep resist up high. My suitability on some of my characters is good even in T1 but it takes me longer than I'd like to get through enemies so I'd definitely like higher damage.

I poopoo Normal but I've spent a half dozen hours this week speed farming in normal (both solo and split-bounty), and I have to say speed farming Normal seems quite effective for gearing up.

I'm thinking I should apply this speed farming lession to my Wizard (who can speed-farm T1), and just speed through T1 stuff on her (outside of mat farming... that I like to do in T4).

The other thing about grouping is, I have to be honest, I'm kind of neurotic about analyzing all my items to death and trying to figure out if I could improve them with Myriam or use them on another class or on a companion etc. I always feel rushed in groups. Like I can't really take time to sort through my junk properly. :whistle2:/

Here's how I speed sort lv70 rare gear:

1) 1st Scan item level, looking for de-leveled items for lowbies. (I do this for all new items before moving on to step 2.)

2) 2nd Scan all items by price... cutoffs vary a bit depending on where you are on your gear.

* 4000 g and under is junk

* under 5000 is unlikely but maybe

* above 5000 is possibilities, especially around 5700+

* 6000g+ items are well worth considering

If the price is above whatever cutoff I'm looking for, then start looking at the specifics... what stats does it have? how well do they suit my needs/current gear? Very importantly, do they have at least four primary stats (sockets count as primary stats). Tip: stats with and orange diamond in front aren't factored into Blizz's oversimplified dmg/toughness/healing.

Sell* everything that doesn't make the cutoff.

*you could shard if you need mats, selling is nice because you can buyback on a mistake

If it doesn't have at least four main properties is likely isn't worth rerolling.

Joined the Rift It Forward and Hell Rift communities. First one is an easy way to get shards/Souls, 2nd is easy XP/Gold. On T6, a hell rift might take 3 mins and you get either 65/90mil (depending on cursed chest spawn) and 420K gold.

I threw you a friend request last night. My in game name is danaconda something or other.

Yeah, I always assume that if you're playing, you want to be left alone. I've been known to log on for 1/2 hour or so just to compare my gear and sell/craft.

What's the protocol for joining someone? Send a heads up message 1st? Jump in and just get to it?

Someone jumped into my game a few weeks ago and I was like cool! But then I had to pick up my kids from gymnastics so I had to jump out pretty soon after. Sorry to whoever that was...

Got my first real set piece today. The Gloves of Vyr's and it's the only fuck ing part of the set where I already have a legendary already slotted for my Wiz. Also until I get a 2nd piece of the set, the piece I have now is better.

I swear, the only pieces of legendaries that drop for me are areas I already have slotted with a legendary.

Don't go hoping for any particular item. It'll feel like forever until you get it. Or maybe it's just me.

Right now not even looking for a particular item. Looking for gear that is not yellow crap in my slots, lol. Playing on T1 now so I have a chance to get the Torment only stuff. I am clearing at a ok rate (would like to clear a bit faster), just need some more either DPS or Survivability before I climb up the Torment chain.

I'd go for survivability. At least that's what my Crusader is lacking, severely. I have plenty of DPS for T2 (500k+ vs regular mobs; 700k+ vs elites), but good grief, I get killed a lot.

Well, still can't get that witching hour =]
I got a Witching Hour while hunting a Harrington Waistguard from Kadala. I was sad, but hey at least I got one... concidering their .9% drop chance.

Here is the link for all the possible legendaries and their drop rates if the game decides to roll a particular legendary...

Like if the game rolls Legendary Belt... there is a 0.9% chance it'll be a Witching Hour.

Finally got a decent legendary weapon with a socket last night. Boosted my DPS like 10-12% which is nice, and it's also nice it only took 1 roll to get some added +vit to the mix. Now if only weapons would stop dropping and other gear would start, lol.

I'm still using a socketed 2H mace on my monk. Every legendary I've had so far hasn't been socketed and the DPS drop-off is just too severe if I try an dual-wield.

I finally looted a 1H axe last night which had a socket, +1000ish fire damage, and +15% fire damage. Only one problem - I'm using a holy build (which I'm finally happy with!).

Guess I should probably save it for my wiz or WD. Are there any EZ mode fire builds that people recommend?

i feel ya on this. i had a nice drop that gave +20% physical dmg and had to adapt my monk to that. Not that big of a deal, but still a bit of a hassle.

Have a fire build going for my wiz. Been trying to craft a decent Devastator for a while. Last night i finally got a decent enough roll to give it a shot. Dmg and int was pretty much close to perfect, but fire dmg was only 15% =[ . Didn't come with the socket so had to enchant that from the cooldown stat that came with it. Was a 10% sheet reduction in dps, but im thinking the 15% fire makes up for it.

that's a common misconception. Two 1H weapons will almost always be better than a 2H weapon, unless it's a BiS 2H.

1. Two 1H weapons means two Crit gems... 260% Crit Damage FTW.

2. Some 1H weapons have some neat effects, but they seem to be more beneficial for lightning Monks.

3. Attack Speed. As a monk i'm guessing you are trying to proc all kinds of things like LoH.

As for your fire weapon.

Fire gear is OP on Diabloprogress... Not really viable in game. Like people pop all their DPS gear on their toon and log out lol.

WD are better off running Poison or Physical over fire.

I don't know much about Wiz, but i think fire builds are good for them, but kinda glass cannon-y

I have a question that I need some clarification on. My weapon has Arcane Damage. Now is there any way to amplify that damage? Like do +x% arcane damage to skills factor into that, or is there any other way to amplify that?

Been trying to figure this out because it wouldn't be hard to just change a few stats to go full Arcane instead of fire for my Wiz.

Also fire is a Glass Canon build but with enough DPS it's not bad. Especially when your hitting meteors every 5 seconds, lol.

I don't think the weapon dmg type really matters that much anymore. It would factor into the elemental dmg passive, but i think thats all you need to worry about for the wiz. The +% elemental skills go towards your skills. I think i have like 100% +fire dmg on my wiz now.

% arcane would be the only way to boost damage.

You can check your REAL DPS on DiabloProgress.

Just put on the gear you want to check and log off. Head over to DProg, find your profile and update it, might take 2 minutes tops. DProg shows displays your real DPS. It shows your sheet DPS, which is your in game DPS before buffs. Shows elemental DPS, which is sheet DPS + % fire/arcane or whatever you have. It also shows your Elemental & Elite DPS, which includes elemental DPS + % damage to elite gear.

Pretty neat stuff.

also tells you how much damage you'd gain from 1% attack speed, Crit Chance, Crit Damage etc.

You. Yes, you lovepig78.

I like you.

*raises hand for high five*

Edit: had an idea. Here's my main - http://www.diabloprogress.com/hero/flowette-2947/Swan/2257198 Any suggestions as to where I'm going wrong? Or what I should aim for? I'm using a full Holy DPS build (pretty standard, nothing special)
aww chucks :3

I don't know anything about Monks. I have only played WD, I have buddies that main Monk so i'll try my best.

1. By holy DPS build, i'm guessing all your attacks deal holy damage. YET! you have 15% fire damage and 16% physical damage... those will only scale with attacks of their respective trait... so if you are using skills that deal holy damage you would want to stack +% Holy Damage, you can get this on bracers, ammy, and certain Rings.

2. SOCKET SOCKET SOCKET. Your 2nd weapon..... socket that sucker.... 130% CD... nuff said

also socket that helm, %life from purple gem is nice.

3. Your Crit Chance is kind of low and lacking in lots of you gear: Rings, ammy, helm, gloves, and bracers can roll Crit Chance. This will boost your DPS fat.

The main issue here is that you are going to have to sacrifice survivavility. But look at this way, if you kill them faster they can't kill you.

You're going to want to be hunting and enchanting items in order to get trifectas: Attack speed, Crit Chance, and Crit damage.

You ideally would want trifecta rings, ammy, and gloves.

that would mean you can focus on toughness on all your other gear.

4. REMOVE THOSE TOPAZ FROM YOUR CHEST YOU NOOB!!! /mean

add Diamonds if you want survivabilty or Emeralds if you want DPS

So that's it....

From my understanding Monk's really shine with +% Lightning or +% Fire, just due to the accessibilty of those items, all classes shine with that actually, outside of WD... but then again, that's all based on RNG and your drops. Aparently monks have lots of lightning skills, Thunderfury procs lightning on hit, Odyns Son also has some sort of lightning effect.

At the end of the day, play however you are having the most fun. This game is about the grind, so make the grind as enjoyable as possible.

tl:dr D3 sucks

Question on Blacksmthing two items.

Basically looking possibly crafting some of the Born's Set, and some of the Captains set. I know they are hell to get the mats for, and I am debating is it worth it to try and farm those mats for a chance at a good roll or just hope for a good legendary drop. I done crafting before with easier plans and had partial success but these mats look like a bitch to farm.

Massive community buff for Diablo 3 anniversary

Pretty much 2x legendary drops, gold, blood bards, keystones, experience and goblins come in pairs now

A lot of class changes, mostly to crusaders. I'm no expert, but Crusaders might be ridiculously overpowered tomorrow with Heaven's fury - fires of heaven build with the right gear.
