They can't ban people for using a glitch that's in the code.

In other words. Someone please find this glitch for Demon Hunter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes they can. It's clearly unintended functionality.

Cheating is done at your own risk.

Cheating and exploiting are two totally different things. If they banned for people using exploits, virtually every single person who has a level 60 character would be banned since the majority used various leveling exploits.

It's within their power to ban for any reason, so as I said, doing anything that might be construed as cheating or breaking the game or exploits are grounds for bannings.

Honestly, I kinda wish Blizz would ban all these damn cheaters. Why play the game if you can't play it right?

The people who knew about the glitches for months and got away with it are lucky dogs! Probably sold some nice stuff on RMAH and will never get punished. The only upside is probably some nice stuff got cheaper in price but I have my doubts.

Guild Wars 2 needs to hurry up either way.

It may be in their power(not really), but i doubt any company would ever ban people for using something that's natively in the game. Imagine if Capcom banned Street fighter 4 players for using Seth too much. >,>. It just wouldn't happen.

And would they even know if you used it? I would be surprised if their stat tracking knew if you used two spells at the same time. Maybe if they checked deeper and had access to dmg dealt vs dmg taken over time or something - but even that isn't conclusive.
I don't see anyone flipping out. Its just a bummer that here we are a mere two months after release and the game is pretty much dead. D2 held peoples attention for like 5+ years (in many cases way longer) and D3 couldn't last for more than two months. Kinda sad.
People all over the internet are flipping out.

Also, I have friends who still play Diablo 3 like it's the only game on earth.

understand, D2 had an expansion that added a lot of content and extended it's replayability. Also if you look at the quality of games like D2 at the time, there was virtually no competition or outlet. ppl still play this game like it's the only game on earth. my friend's 2 pc bangs attendence is proof enough to me.

that said, system shut down booted me at 75% into butcher's health (not that he's ever dropped note worthy since they upped boss drop rates w/stacks) w/5 stacks. I ignored the system shut down warnings because they used to announce it but I was never booted...after the boot, I literally was able to log right back in. meh.

I haven't gotten into a serious session of farming in a while on D3, but I did reach $900 today, made from RMAH sales ever since it came out. I'm selling my wiz gear right now because I feel a nerf coming to the CM/WW build.

if the nerf means, build diversity...im all for it. til then, I'll be CM/WW til i get better gear. now to work on my sad AR.

Well I did my first ever trade today and got scammed for a million gold. I wasn't aware that the other user could change the qty of an item after you hit accept.

FYI don't trade with Yourgawd#1126.

Sorry to hear that bro. That was a classic scam back when Diablo 2 (that's TWO) first came out.

TOtally unsurprised to hear Blizzard didn't realize that would be a problem in Diablo 3 and didn't address it.

bawls...i've been hearing ppl scamming for certain prices. the trade will take longer than it should, they'll continue to put in the agreed price usually like 55,000,000 or something. say it's not letting them trade. they wear you down mentally and eventuall you click accept as they spam in 5,500,000.
100xp, you are running CM/WW build right for your wiz? Do you have a link of your gear?
CM/WW has been unsuccessful in Act 2 since I gave a good chunk of my gear to my WD recently. While her dps is 42k unbuffed, her AR are all 300ish. I'll try and get a screenie of her gear...but I'd need to rebuild her from what I gave my WD who know boasts a 35% CC/110% CD. In short, i started getting tired of spamming 2-3-4 keys.
Just sold for $85 lol.
i have something similar in my inventory but the damage is not nearly as high sadly. if i used it from my current source i lose 5k dps, but i gain 7% crit and 10 APoC. It might just be worth it since I'm not running blizz/hydra.

i hope when I start using the RMAH, i never "add" funds...it'll always been from the blizz bucks pool. nice sale.

Longtime D2 player here just finding this thread...

I'm about to crack open one of my CEs and start playing III, but browsing this thread I saw (before quickly averting my eyes) references to
a Secret Cow Level-like place called Whimseyshire
. In D2,
getting credit for killing the Cow King
would keep you from opening the portal again in that difficulty level.

So my question is: Is there anything related to this new location (or anything in the game, for that matter) where you can screw up and permenantly lock, hamstring, discombobulate, etc. something for a character (as in the example above) that a new player should be wary of?

No.
Keep in mind that if you needed to use reduced lvl gear to get though hell, inferno is going to be...
Well, I'm doing ok, but I've had to rage quit a lot. DH is too squishy.

Was talking to a Barb who helped me get through Act 1 (I'm not sure his HP even dropped at all, even against The Butcher), and he said I need about twice the HP I have now, and a lot more Resist All.

So it's a little annoying, because I just dropped like a million on gear yesterday. Prob was my priorities- I kept increasing my ability to do damage, instead of my survivability.

If anyone wants to join me, my battletag is Supremacy#1337. I don't run with any MF, just from NV, so if you don't mind that, then hit me up.

Speaking of partied-up MF, I read once somewhere (maybe even in this thread) that your MF in a multiplayer game is actually an average of everybody's MF value. So if you have 100 MF and your buddy has 0, both yours and his MF are 50 when you play together. However, in my character stats/details tab, the MF value reported is the correct value for me and all my gear (it reads the same in multiplayer as when I play alone).

Does that mean that MF is not actually averaged when playing with others? Or does that details tab just show "your" MF according to your equipment but really your actual in-game MF is the party average?

It's averaged and is a hidden multiplier. Just another reason why people play solo. Blizzard really fucked up MP in this game lol.
It's averaged and is a hidden multiplier. Just another reason why people play solo. Blizzard really fucked up MP in this game lol.
if you goal is to get the most out of your MF yeah, otherwise i don't think it really affects the enjoyment of the game. if I have 200 MF and my friend has 100, I'm helping him and enjoying the coop experience...esp since we have basically a shared stash.

...if you're in it for yourself? yeah, solo is the wtg fo'sho.

It goes both ways since the person with the lowest MF is dragging down the team and might feel shitty because of it. It's the wrong type of barrier to put in a game that should be MP oriented. Why, when the drops are all independent to each player, would they average MF? In reality, it should be either your personal MF or a team average, whichever is highest.

It's stuff like this that blows my mind how fucking retarded Blizzard is. I spent two seconds coming up with better design than the millions they spend on development.

It really does make zero fucking sense to average the MF, but give everyone their own drops. Like, who even came up with that bullshit?

While I don't agree with the current system, the nerf on MF with mp is pretty obvious.

It makes the game easier to defeat elites while in a party. Especially when someone is wearing mf gear that is usually hampered in stats to include MF. When someone is wearing MF and another is wearing their primary, they'll just do all the work for you.

agreed.

before they fixed it, ppl used to idle in town while getting power leveled by everyone else. having a MF mule idle even in the same zone as you while everyone else did all the work seems broken. ppl would probably start offerring MF idling services for gp...and that would open a whole new can of flaming worms.

Well that's an issue with going from team loot to independent drops. Right from the get-go that was going to be an issue because in D2 the person who did the most work, reaped the rewards in Hell cows. Nobody minded having the leechers there who just wanted the exp and left-overs, so it worked just fine. People also respected the guys clearing the game in 3 minutes or less because if they stepped out of line, you'd find yourself flat on your ass from a red player.

Blizzard has become so paranoid and carebear now that they want to police and control every, single little thing. It's pretty pathetic but hey, it was their game to ruin and they did an amazing job driving players off after just two months.

No significant changes since the last time you played.

My wizz is running a budget WW/CM build, my friend and I did Act 2 inferno last night. Ran into some problems with some mobs, like arcane enchanted, but otherwise it went pretty well.

I see them nerfing WW to not proc CM as often. They did the same thing with Living Lightning, didn't they? People were using it to proc CM over and over?

I just don't know that I have the desire to even make it to inferno. I've just lost any and all interest in the game.

I'm only in Act 2 Normal with my lvl 24 monk, and I'm having a hard time trying to motivate myself to play anymore. The only thing that gets me to come back is the RMAH. I've made $9 (after blizztaxes) selling pure crap...
I just don't know that I have the desire to even make it to inferno. I've just lost any and all interest in the game.
Same here, I'm level 53 I think and the champion packs are already stupid, I don't even want to think about how dumb they will be in inferno. They totally fucked up with this game, poor Blizzard. And they were doing so well for so long.

The reward you get for playing for 230 hours is virtually non existent. Even after all those hours you still get completely destroyed by champ packs on inferno. While at the same time losing gold, AND not picking up any loot worth even 30k gold.

The only sense of progression comes from the Auction Houses. However, once you realize this it makes playing the game even more difficult.

For better or worse the carrot on a stick mechanic is just terribly done. This is why i personally have stopped playing.

I stopped playing D3 ever since the Steam Summer Sale happened, even a few days before. Seems like I am not missing anything. I can't say I hate the game because I don't, but it's just kinda poorly done endgame wise.

I don't think they can fix this mess, it's done for. Hopefully this RMA doesn't make it into any other Blizzard game.

I've been saying they announced the RMAH that this was a test so they could implement it into a future WoW expansion or Titan. I fully expect to this come into other Blizzard games, which fucking sucks.

I was actually shocked they weren't implementing it into the Mists expansion. I actually like RMAH in the sense it gives you the opportunity to make money off a video game. Yeah you could sell items thru Diablo 2 years ago (before everything started to get duped) which I did, but it was quite a pain to set up the game, set up a time and then hope you didn't get reported for not selling something when you did. Personally I rather pay the fees then go thru that again.

Hey if people want to waste money for virtual items I say let them. Thanks to RMAH Diablo 3 will just end up costing me time rather then money. I can say I really enjoyed the game till Inferno. Hell was just the right difficulty for me.

Anyways nothing is selling for much on RMAH anymore that isn't uberly godly. I was able to make money off some so-so items but not anymore. Maybe come the holidays when people get this game as a gift?

Doubtful. There won't be another rush of players to this game or to the RMAH and by then the novelty will have long worn off. If anything, pandas will cannibalize sales for this and players driven away will likely return to D2 or w/e they were playing previously.

It's a funny concept designing a system driven by farmers and then shitting all over those players in every respect possible. Problem is, they're not fooling anyone.

Yeah. I beat Diablo on Inferno and haven't played since. Game does nothing but punish you for playing it after act 1 Inferno. The game is great up to that point, and I can't really complain since I got 200something hours out of it.

Tried Path of Exile and it's not bad, but I don't think it has much lasting power either. But at least they let you farm in that game. lol

Guild Wars 2 is out in a month and I'll probably check out Torchlight 2 at some point.

Don't get my hopes up :( /sadpandaface

That's fine anyways. Got one more character to max (Barb is at 49) and 100% done unless like I said before they come out with a real good patch which they seem to be taking their sweet time with anyways.
Yeah. I beat Diablo on Inferno and haven't played since. ...

Damn you beat Diablo on inferno? I don't know if I could suffer that much. Go to a point in Act 3 Inferno and just gave up.

I pre-ordered Guild Wars 2 last week for the early access (though I have a feeling servers are going to be rough) and $5 amazon credit. Less then a month to go :)

Haven't heard much on Torchlight 2 but I loved the first one. Bought it on PC and even got the XBLA version when it came out. Good times.

I think the RMAH was pandoras box in that it totally screwed up everyone's perception of the game once it was implemented.

The hardcore farmers and Chinese slave drivers saw the game as nothing more than an investment or source of income, no different than buying stock or running a business. They dont care if it's slaying demons or petting cats it's just a vehicle to earn money to them.

The average Joe player got marginalized out of the equation as a result of the hardcore farmers and feel left out/left behind. They got robbed of a gaming experience at the cost of the farmer.

The cynics and skeptics couldn't see the forest for the trees and just focused on bad mouthing the AH even after putting 200+ hours in the game, and can't step back and realize D3 was probably pretty high on the dollars/hr scale for any game in recent memory.

The fact that the economy was tainted with real money meant for some reason everyone stopped treating it as a game and started treating it like something else. All of a sudden everyone thinks they're clever and can game the system somehow and play D3 and earn profit too. And ultimately that's a failure for Blizzard because as a game it is not without merit, but the RMAH is the 800-lb gorilla that is the only thing people see.

I also think expectations were way too high as well. The result of both factors means people hate on D3 just to hate on it. Not that it is without faults or flawed design, but people can't accept that it is just a mediocre game. Either it's awesome because you can farm and bring in $1/hr or its the worst sin of the century.

Path of Exile felt like a really poor attempt at the genre to me. The skill tree really annoyed me because it's gigantic just to be gigantic.

Like most, I haven't played in awhile. I made my final cash out a few weeks ago, then reformatted last week and haven't even had the game installed. Nothing to do after Inferno Diablo but farm, and Blizzard just wants to find ways to punish people who have fun farming.

Combine that with the fact that Torchlight 2, Borderlands 2, and Tony Hawk HD are coming out soon, on top of the fact that I've been ESEA'ing CS:GO a lot recently, and I really feel there is zero reason for me to go back.
Same here, I'm level 53 I think and the champion packs are already stupid, I don't even want to think about how dumb they will be in inferno. They totally fucked up with this game, poor Blizzard. And they were doing so well for so long.
Yeah I'm somewhere around mid 50s, can't remember exactly. I've already had some trouble in a few spots, and the only way I can get better gear is to buy it on the AH, which means I need huge sums of cash, which means farming, which I don't care to do anymore, especially since they seem intent on punishing people for farming by ruining the best spots.

About the only thing that would get me back at this point would be if people started buying complete crap gear for large sums of cash, and even then that isn't playing the game because I enjoy it.

revisited the WD again after finding a few AR pieces to kit her out, wow...with a #$%'in difference 600 AR makes from 300 AR.

I've been using wall of zombies/pile on and getting close to 300k crits...and I'm far from geared. 765% dmg on a crit is just silly...now all i need is more CD, a better wpn, and able to always hit w/the pile on.

why is everyone saying they have to buy everything from the AH to progress in the game or farm successfully? MF does wonders for act 1 and act 2 farming, maybe you don't want to put in the hours to farm but it sure hell beats giving some random 20 million for a single item. the only large purchase i've made on the AH is the helm of command, because that doesn't drop...and I paid well under the crafting cost for it. everything else im using has been drops and/or eq shares w/friends.

Because it's a choice between having good MF gear or gear to keep your ass alive, at least it always was for me. Trying to do both is expensive.

you figure, doing act 1 is pretty standard at this point...some face rolling it with one hand. a lot of crap gear that doesnt work for act 2 + has MF on it, you get enough of that and you're getting legendaries every other run. what you decide to do w/that is up to you but selling them can certainly get you some nice pools of gp which you can do whatever you want with. while some legendaries aren't very good for inferno, some of them are amazing in the right kit.
