Diablo III / Diablo II Battle.net Thread
I read that as being able to equip 2 handed weapons, I didn't see anything about dual wielding them.
Lol, it would be a huge fuck you to barbs if they did something dumb like that anyway.

Sorry I might have mis-read then.

Anyways, I hope legendary drops are increased because they are sounding more and more awesome. This is what D3 should have been at launch.

Puzzle Ring (Ring) - This ring gives heroes a chance to summon a Treasure Goblin when they’re hit. The tooltip will be something along the lines of: "This ring sometimes calls forth a Treasure Goblin when you are hit."

i think the 2H wpn thing w/Monk is they will have new animations when making attacks vs. just having it sit pretty on their back the whole time.

My CC is high w/WW, the sword I have even has +5% CC for WW...if the build doesn't perform to my liking in Act 2 I'll just play a WD. haha. I think the ppl who are complaining the loudest re: CM/WW just like how easy it is to tap 3 buttons to get gear. It is easy, the enjoy is purely retribution from dying so many times before to the same packs...and of course in the end the reward for something decent in drops.

Interesting. So they're possible adding a prestige system for gaining MF/GF bonuses, which isn't a bad idea except it would make more sense for the bonuses to apply to the gear you're wearing. Why not create a system that over time applies MF or GF to whatever gear you're wearing when you kill bosses/elites? The tougher the boss/elite, the more prestige exp you gain. It wouldn't devalue any gear that drops with the stat since it's ahead of the curve and it would actually give you a secondary reason to kill bosses/elites.

IMO that would go a huge way towards making your time feel valuable in the game, because even if your drops are shitty, your gear is growing more powerful in finding better drops. That was one of the biggest problems I had with farming, was because I realized I was doing exactly that -- wasting my fucking time. People who struck it rich with great drops all the time were having fun, all the while I kept getting garbage and having none. Another problem solved, compliments five minutes of brainstorming.

JFC, I swear I should just get into game design because I'd blow away some of these so-called veterans who suck dick at it.

sounds like a Kickstarter waiting to happen...

I might have to revisit the game after the patch. Some of the changes made to DH I like. The sentry for example, they doubled the damage, and I use the sentry quite a bit.

we all think our time is valuable and farming becomes more of a chore everytime we go in our best MF gear or act X gear. if you don't find anything better than what you have or for an alt, it's frustrating...however if you're already geared finding better gear is going to be harder. 998.0 dps hand crossbow with 1.68 attack speed, 48% crit damage and 152 Str. highest dps 1 handed wpn i've found let alone a ranged one. dropped my dps by a ton as well as 5k hps over my bow. I sold it then made some gems. frustrating the str wasn't dex, vit, or a socket...but at this point I'm looking for something very specific.

the motivation for killing bosses is, w/stacks they guarentee you a drop or 2...sometimes more and usually a generous amount of vendor trash. They are predictable, sometimes they're flat out easier than half the packs you run into, and always in the same spot. Plus when they take out enrage timers some bosses will be worth farming again or even beatable.

the one thing I don't like about the prestige exp for MF/GF on gear over time is ppl who can smash bosses in mere seconds would be potentially be hording and flooding the market faster w/higher end gear and/or legendaries. Can't really do hours played since a lot of ppl idle in town looking at their stash or absorbing exp from friends...or ppl just idling.

w/the addition to the 61-63 wpns all able to have the same range of damage, new legendaries, and promoting coop play I think the majority will start to find the gear they were looking for.

trust me farming at this point is more like grinding dailies, but I still enjoy coop play a lot. skype helps immensely...but if you already are geared decent, you're really hoping to get gear that is even greater than what you have. the probability of that grows smaller everytime you find a better piece of gear.

You completely missed my point. The idea is to give the player a clear goal, a reason to keep playing even if they're getting crap drops. The current design is nothing but gambling with your time. I'm not a gambling man. If I don't have a clear goal or challenge to strive for, then fuck you; you're not worth my time.

After a month and a half, I had maxed my character level, killed Diablo on Inferno, geared up reasonably but with room for improvement, and what epic legendary item did I have to show for it? fuck all. That's a fundamental flaw in a game designed around gear. My best-selling items were all shoulders from crafting. I didn't buy an AH/crafting emulator, I bought a dungeon crawler.

That's why Diablo III failed and will continue to.

Yep - Portal is the only way out of the glitches :(

At what level do you start to identify items?

I think our ideals are just different, you've already tbagged big D and from comments previously posted your barb is frightening. I'm still limited to farming act 2 w/moderate MF. That will likely change after the patch, not in the effectiveness but who will be more efficient and enjoyable at farming act 2. likely not my CM/WW. (no complaints re: it since a minor nerf on 1 skill vs an entire buff on every other ability is huge...my wiz cannot kill goblins unless I corner them, I've played piano for X years I don't want to trill 3 keys to stay alive as a wiz anymore. I miss the archon but my gear is not good enough yet to make it work in act 2 alone)

Act 3 farming is not cost effective for me yet, once they add the carebear patch for coop play I should be able to tank or dps for my friends who can only do it solo.

what do you do once you have the pefect set of gear (both uber and MF)? or good enough to be able to kill big D before she can even finish a sentence? Likely, stop playing D3 and start playing the RMAH. Yes...the end game needs help.

maybe our expectations are too high.

...but I see your point and understand where you're coming from. I just haven't been there yet to want the same things.

Hmmmm, i havent played in a long time - but i think i will try it out again now with these changes. Wife starts back teaching next week, so will have more free time anyway.
I can see the game becoming a cakewalk after a while though if you can get 100 more levels(for those it isn't a cakewalk for already, of course)

That's something certainly to strive for...if not something to do whilst farming. while it may not solve a lot of issues some players are having, it is another form of "progress" and "challenge."

We understand that some players feel frustrated once they hit level 60 because they no longer feel like they’re making progress. It can be demoralizing to play for an hour, not get any drops, and also be out a big chunk of gold from repair costs. Your play session may not only end without an upgrade, it can wind up being a net loss. Everyone wants to feel like they’re making some progress when they log in, even if they don’t get that new sword.

. . .We wanted to find a solution that was not only very forgiving of gear swapping, but one that would ultimately help us slowly and gently move Magic Find off of items in the future. It’s such an intrinsically important stat to the core purpose of playing the game that tying it to gear -- which is a customization system in many ways -- is ultimately an approach that would continue to cause problems. We need to transition away from it, and do so in a way that doesn’t flip the entire game end-over-end.
We have a Blizzard spy in here, I swear. They don't understand the problem until I spell it out!

OMFG, and they're capping MF at 300%, another one of my ideas. I DON'T EVEN GET PAID BLIZZARD!!!11LJSALFKDJFAP;F
At what level do you start to identify items?
What do you mean? If you are implying waiting until you're higher lvl in hopes of getting higher lvl rolls on your unidentified items, it doesn't work that way. The stats on an item are determined (baked in) at the time of drop- ID'ing it only reveals them to the player.

I think the paragon system is treading on a slippery slope. It once again pushes the game further into the enclave of the extreme hardcore players (people with several hundred hours on the game already just in a few months), or more realistically, the botters- who just run the game 24/7. Most regular players probably haven't even hit lvl60 yet, and here we basically have the equivalent of increasing the level cap to 160+. The built in MF bonuses mean the botters will have better efficiency at farming gear than the average joe, and will only abuse that position on the AH.

Has there been any mention of improving crafting? Right now the economics of crafting vs the AH make it pretty useless, but I think it has the potential to be a very useful and rewarding game mechanic to non-botting, non-extreme hardcore players since people tend to have greater attachment/pride in something they crafted or found themselves vs. something they bought on the AH.

"you made the fastest selling pc game of all time"

Seriously I hate that defense...it's like when FOX News dudes say 'we have the highest ratings ever!'

BRET BAIER: “Why then are we the best rated cable news show?”
JON STEWART: “That’s a very interesting point. I was not aware that ratings equaled quality, but now that I know that, I’m going to reassess my feelings about the show Three’s Company […] I’m suggesting…not that it’s not popular or powerful – so is crack.”

if anything the paragon system does in a way encourage you to focus on a single character again, no doubt whichever you find the most fun to play, or easiest to farm w/. There's a progressive reward for clearing trash mobs again...while most simply ignored or teleported past them, the chance for them to drop gear has been upped according to the preview and the xp that goes towards your paragon level.

I can't wait to shed some of my MF gear for the better gear sitting in my stash.

the only thing I can think of re improvements in crafting is, all the 4 and 5 stat plans you learned or stockpiled have some value now. Should you decide to forgo the AH experience or simply want the pride of crafting something w/your hard earned materials...lvl 61 and 62 wpns at least have the chance to have high min/max damage ranges as 63 wpns do. You might get lucky more than once and just sell anything you made for a decent amount. Though just farming will likely yield more frequent and more cost effective wpn drops than crafting.

end game crafting really seems to reward the ones w/legendary plans. due to the high demand and potential in the new buffs, it'll be a bigger market than before.

I for one can't wait to unearth my first useful post patch legendary.

holy crap, i loved Hellgate London...

Jay Wilson will probably have a blog video soon saying "I am not a role model." with all the negativity he gets from the d3 community I'm surprised he hasn't punched a baby yet.

Dat's me! (Although, if you combine the levels of all my started characters, it might = 60). I'll jump in just to check out the Barb changes, maybe try some multiplayer (anyone, anyone?), but this upper, upper level stuff is years away for me.

Stat increases which come from slotted gems will no longer be factored in when searching for equipment. Instead, your search criteria will only take into account the base stat values for an item.
fucking finally.

Well, since Blizzard is watching my comments like a hawk, the next thing they need to address is how to handle companions in a MP game. Their added bonuses are more than just perks and have become a baseline buff for certain builds. These bonuses need to apply in a MP game, even though they're sidelined in town. Also, fix the damn IAS buff from the sorc when she's knocked down. Dumb as hell how the armor buff works uncontested, but if she's incapped the IAS buff wears off.

:( I got a few but I can not use them yet.

NO. NO. NO. NO. NO.

Keep companions outta my multiplayer.

They would be sitting in town just like they do now. The difference being whatever companion you have selected would still apply their buff(s) to you. I'd have friends join my game and fuck me over by accident because my companion would take off and I'd lose my armor buff. When something like that becomes mandatory, it's just another reason to play solo.

you realize the IAS buff from the enchantress has a range of 40 yards...if she's down for the count, it's likely you're not close enough to her or it's just an active skill mechanic vs. a passive one. If she's incap'd often, all the more reason to stack Vit on her. My templar has 82k hps. Belial can't kill him, he only dies when a bunch of accursed death proc poison around him for more than a few seconds.

Maintaining the follower buff in MP is not issue, your friends joining your game w/out warning is the problem. I'd advise turning on the invite only feature or telling your friends it's mandatory to give you fair warning before jumping into your session.

...but let's entertain your idea for a moment.

check this out. you have a decent geared barb w/shout, monk w/the armor mantra, and a wizard w/pris armor. they all buff up, your armor is likely going to be near 13-15k, the wiz is probably around 18-20k. You want to add the enchantress follower buff to that too? That's a bit unbalanced wouldn't say? especially with the dmg reduced to all elites as well as their hps.

The patch is encouraging and making cooperative play easier and more rewarding. we really don't need any more static buffs, paragon levels is going to give us inherit buffs across the board. Permanently. It's your choice to go solo or multi and utilize the benefits of cooperative play or the follower(s). There are clear advantages for playing solo, but at least to some cooperative play can be a lot more rewarding.

patch is live...some of the stuff that's dropping is rather sick. no doubt there will be ppl complaining how easy it is to get high dps wpns.

a blue lvl 59 handcrossbow with 780 dps...that's pretty high.

Lol, only people who paid millions or $250 on one. Weapons are the most important piece of gear though, so having the price come down on the godly ones is not a bad thing.

nice! have to wait a couple of days and start shopping for better gear in AH. hopefully more people go online and sell stuff they find with the new patch.

Played for a couple hours. Was just in Act one, and I did get better item drops. Nothing great dropped, but at least it was stuff that I had to actually check stats abit instead of being like "nope, obvious trash".

Managed to get to Act 4 Inferno... was not possible for my weakass prior to this patch. Things are a lot easier to say the least.

Paragon leveling is slow and is stuck to 1 char, so maxing them all will be a pain if your aiming for that route.

WD pets can definitely solo inferno even though It's a bit slow. Overall the nerf stick has hit them a bet hard besides that.

I was still able to do a lot of damage with my Wiz and she was built around CC.

Didn't get to test out DH much.

Barb still tanks like a boss.

Drops are a lot better but haven't seen any of the uber uniques yet.

Overall patch is a big step in the right direction, but not enough to keep me away from Guildwars. At the very least will come back to play this here and there when I get bored of it.

Found one of the new version's of Zunimassa's Vessel. Seriously probably the 2nd best thing I've ever found in playing this game:

agreed. i've been fire selling all the wpns i've been finding that aren't upgrades to me or my buddies. I have no interest in paying RM for stuff on the AH or millions on a single item unless I can flip it. turn and burn.

some of the artifacts in the AH are trying to be sold for a few billion, it's laughable...seriously, the Grandfather sword does a lot of damage but unless it summons Tyreal and Chuck Norris no one's going to pay 4 billion for it.

my group found Logan's Claw, great for the level you could first start using it...not so great at lvl 60. the new set items are pretty sick, in fact all the high lvl artifacts are. I upgraded my belt slightly and found a sweet MF ring w/functional DH stats.

game feels like it just got an expansion.

I really must say, this patch brought me back. I was already frustrated midway through hell that I got all my characters to the same point...mid 50s hell act 3. Inferno just made it worse.

However, after the patch, it's just fun again. Finding items, continued leveling, prices "sort of" leveling out in the AH. With the current set-up, the game almost feels like it can maintain some Diablo 2 styled legs. The only problem with it now is the shear boredom of repeating the same Acts 1-4.

I really hope in the future they update the game with a diablo 1 - like dungeon. You start at the top and infinitely keep going deeper. Could have leaderboards to whoever makes it the furthest softcore and hardcore.

Yeah I really wish there was just a bottomless pit of a dungeon, one that you could just grind away on, like an endurance test almost.
Yeah I really wish there was just a bottomless pit of a dungeon, one that you could just grind away on, like an endurance test almost.
Inferno ponies in pub games would have been that pit, but they fucked everything up with the NV buff.

I hear this game just got completely reworked, I may just come back.

Sort of funny though, really says a lot about all those big review sites that heralded it as AAA at release. Some corrupt shit.

I played for the 1st time today in over a month, first mob in Act 1 hell gave me a rare item that was better than what I had lol. I think Blizzard knew I hadn't played in forever and wanted to entice me to keep playing.....and after the changes in the patch I just might do that.
Is loot supposed to disappear? I TP'd to town and went afk for a bit, and when i went back all the blues i left there were gone.
After a while I think it does, yeah.

edit: maybe some other time.

I'm on right now if anyone would like to play

Just found a unique axe. The new patch has brought me back into this game. Right now I'm just clearing out the Act 2 crypts if anyone feels like playing.
