Did Anybody Recieve The Apocalypse Now Complete Dossier Bonus Disc From CC?

hiccupleftovers

CAGiversary!
Did anyone get the bonus disc that was supposed to come with the Apocalypse Now Complete Dossier? I was there today and they didn't have any of it. The lady said that they usually get shipments of bonuses and the like (which I can attest to), but there wasn't any of the bonus disc in-store. This is seriously pissing me off as the only reason I rushed to CC during my lunch hour was to pick one up (oh and I was nearly late).

Is CC having a snafu with bonus discs like Target had a couple weeks ago?

I got it. It has the sticker on the front saying it has the exclusive bonus disc. It's inside the DVD in a seperate, loose paper slip. The only snafu I had with it was the computer said it wasn't on sale so I had to point that out to the cashier.

Riverside, CA store BTW.

Yeah, it's INSIDE the set. A guy in front of me bought it and opened it up to make sure the bonus disc was there and it was. I too had the set ring up at $14.99 and had to tell the cashier it was on sale.

I got one today at the sale price, but couldn't find any with the bonus disc. Usually you can feel if there is a bonus disc attached to a movie, but I couldn't feel/see if there was any. I'll go check my copy now.

Damn it! My AN doesn't have the disc. Any chance someone could take a photo of how the box looks like with the bonus disc/also a pic of just the disc itself?

So let me get this straight-I gotta ask someone here because I keep getting this "too good to be true" feeling about this-

Apocalypse Now: the complete dossier - available at circuit city for $12.99 - includes the original theatrical cut of Apocalypse Now AND Apocalypse Now: Redux?

Yeah.

And I didn't get one either.

Here's an ebay listing with pictures of the set and bonus disc.

I totally forgot about this and there seems to be a shortage on the 3 disc set so I think I'll haul ass tomorrow morning and see if I can find one still.

That guy is a douche. Why they put it spanning two discs I'll never know...

This is bullshit. I went to *TWO* CC's this afternoon to try and find a copy of Dossier that came with the bonus disc but didn't have any luck. Apparently, most stores only got 2-4 copies that comes with the bonus disc.

This really pisses me off. Why the hell would CC advertise the bonus disc offer in their Sunday ad and send so few of them out to the stores??

They took my name down on a raincheck in case they get any more in but I doubt that's going to happen.
I just opened mine up after reading the last few posts...sure enough, there was the bonus disc right inside.
So wait a sec. Did your copy have the 'bonus' sticker on it or not?

I've been reading around on a few other sites about the CC bonus disc and it looks like all the copies that have extra disc have a different UPC sticker on the outside of the shrinkwrap. Guess everyone that bought the version with the bonus disc are saying that their copies are being rung up as $14.99 instead of $12.99 like they are supposed to. Apparently this is because of the CPU sticker.

(BTW, it's on 2 discs because the movie is 3 & 1/2 hours long and too fucking big to put on 1 dvd with a decent bit rate with extras, just like the LotR extended editions.)

Again, this is why I'm getting tired of the "exclusive bonus disc" shit. Its getting the point where i only care if it comes with a music CD. In terms of bonus crap, just give me something that doesn't go inside the case.

So, what's on the bonus disc exactly? My nearest CC isn't exactly close and I'd rather not make the trip unless its actually worthwhile

Edit: Nevermind, I found it. fuck I want that extra disc, but its gonna cost me more than I want to spend in gas to get it.

Yeah I picked mine up yesterday around 2pm maybe. There wasn't many copies left but there was a sticker on the shrinkwrap that said "exclusive bonus disc". It did ring up 14.99 but was fixed after I showed the circular. I got home and it was in a paper CD sleeve inside the dossier pack (like others said).

I am surprised that others are having problems not getting one in theirs.

Yeah, it had the sticker on the shrinkwrap. Man if I knew these were that hard to get I would have gladly picked up a couple more to sell or trade to fellow CAGers.

Alright, I finally managed to score a copy with the bonus disc. I actually found it at one of the stores I hit-up yesterday. Originally when I went, they had all the weeks new releases placed out on a table and I just looked there. Today when I went back though, I checked the shelves and saw 4 copies (marked with the 'bonus' stickers) sitting there.

Anyway, if you can't find any copies in the new releases section, check the shelves and you might get lucky. People said they've been finding this in the 'Adventure' section too, so be sure to look there. I was tempted to pick some extras up since I saw that people are getting $25-$30 for these now on Ebay, but considering how pissed I was yesterday at not finding any, I thought I'd just leave them there for people that actually want it.

(BTW, these are ALL ringing up as $14.99 for some reason, so make sure they adjust the price at the register)

The film being on 2-disc doesn't bother me and the packaging is very cool as well.

I ended up running to CC again today on my lunch break and exchanging my copy with one of the AN: DC's that had a CC sticker saying exclusive bonus disc on it. fuckers....I was there in the morning and they didn't have any like that. I looked and so did the employee helping me at the time. They told me that they might get another shipment in later, so I guess the did. There was only one other one with the bonus sticker left after I took mine. Also managed to find a Jarhead 2-disc copy. All I need now is to find a Munich 2-disc and i'm golden.

Yaeh, the bonus disc is totally sweet. Makes the collection that much better.

I ended up picking it up today. There were only 2 copies that had the bonus sticker on it (well 1 now that I got one ;)). I love the packaging on it!

On a side note, it rang up at $14.99 for me too initially. You know this is kind of shitty of them. When there's a price error that costs them money they fix it in a day tops, sometimes as quick as a few hours. Then you've got this, which is only $2 so its not that big of a deal truthfully, but there's a lot of people who will go to buy it and not notive the difference at all.

got it.

-Sorry, posted via PSP. Go check your stores again. Mine had 3-4 sitting on the shelf where I got my non-bonus copy yesterday. I already had opened the non-bonus, but the cashier was cool. Even had the $14.99 thing come up, and just showed her the ad. Picked up HL2(Xbox) as well. Good trip.

The whole ringing up as regular price happens to me quite often. I've had it happen about 3 or 4 times now. When I tell them that its on sale in the ad, they look at me like I'm about to rape them, then stare at the ad for what seems like 5 mins...

You'd be suprised how many people will waltz in trying to tell me what's on sale that really isn't, or what they thaught was in our ad but it was actually like office depot or something.

As for length of time, have you actually looked at a CC week after week? They are some of the most poorly designed ads ever, seriously it's a giant cluser fuck, not to meniton the huge amount of errors each week. I actually wrote an email to our distrcit manager about this once, never got a reply, which didn't shock me. The guy is never around and seems to be very aloof as to what is happening at the store level (like all of CC corprate to be honest). Plus we get reamed if we sell something we don't have or at a falsely reduced price. So don't blame the employees, the ads create more issues than anything for me, day to day, I believe.

I bought the normal 2 disc one from BB yesterday. Just because the nearest CC is 30 mins away. Apocalypse now may be my favorite movie, but it aint worth driving an hour to find out a store has no copies.

If someone can hook me up with a copy with the bonus disc, I'd greatly appreciate it.

My local CC is totally sold out.

I went and checked a CC near my job and they didn't have squat. Later I drove to one that was farther but they had like 12 in stock. So in the end I found one with the bonus disk. Then I went to BB and bought Xmen 2- 2 disc for the CC price of 7.49. Not a bad trip.

Awesome, I was worried since I waited until today that I might not track down the bonus disc set but the second CC I hit had plenty of copies.
If someone can hook me up with a copy with the bonus disc, I'd greatly appreciate it.
(BTW, it's on 2 discs because the movie is 3 & 1/2 hours long and too fucking big to put on 1 dvd with a decent bit rate with extras, just like the LotR extended editions.)
They could've just as easily arranged it so all the supplements were on the second disc and not risk fucking up the flow of the film. I believe Lawrence of Arabia and the upcoming Limited Edition LOTR films do this and the films are about the same length or longer. I suspect they did this to thwart people from giving away or selling one version of the movie and keeping the other. It's not a dealbreaker for me, but it would've been nice if they had gone all out with a true 3 disc set.

Just opened up mine, and am impressed it's actually made by the studio (with matching dvd art and all) and not a crappy 3rd party bonus. Nice. Just wish they would have gone the extra mile and made it a 3-disc case.

I just got back from my CC. They must've had a new shipment of this because this was out of stock before and now there was a big stack of the set with the exclusive disc inside (sticker was on cover). And they were marked $12.99 on the placard but had a $14.99 price sticker. Myself, being an idiot however, didnt think to check the receipt until I got home and realized they charged me $14.99 instead of $12.99. Just a heads up if anyone was still looking for this.

I bought mine last Saturday. I specifically asked the clerk about the bonus disk and showed her the circular ad. She claimed that the bonus was inside the packaging.

I opened up my set, and it is plain version with no bonus. The extra features look pretty skimpy too.

I got the complete dossier today with bonus disc. I went in there and initially didn't find any. After some searching I found it. I'm pretty stoked.

I already have the redux, so I think I'm going to put it in my TL.

I jsut got the regular edition from Wal-Mart a couple of weeks ago. I knew about the CC edition witht he bonus disc, but I'm not going to drive 50+ miles to CC just for it. I hate special store exclusives when those stores are far as hell away from me :(
