I am just curious on the percentage of CAGs that vote. I dont care who or what you voted for just whether you voted or plan to vote. Also if a mod could not move this to the Vs forum since this thread is about the act of voting not the politics behind it.

Voted in the primaries in September, not voting today. I am registered in RI and I'm in OH. I suppose I could have gotten an absentee ballot, but I didn't. The general election doesn't really matter as much in RI as most other states, so it's not a huge deal.

I wasnt going to since it didnt seem a close race and I didnt like either canidate. But as usual the more i learn about the Republican side the more I dont want them in office(true of the democratic side too but ill take them over reps in most situations especially here)...and its now looking like this is going to be a close election....so im on my way to vote right now! Later guys!

I voted yes because I'll be going later about 3 p.m. (est)
Never got a chance to register.
You know you get more then one chance...

Actually you can do it at anytime. You still wouldn't be able to vote this year, as I think most states make you wait 30 days.

Maybe someone can help me clear this up. I have a NY drivers liscence, and my permament address is in NY. But, since last August I've lived in Washington. Where would I need to register, NY or WA?

Where ever you reside at the time. So register in WA, and get a new driver license while your at it :) It will definitely be an all day trip.

Also most state websites should have a link to register for voting.
Republicans and Democrats are all the same!!!!!! Wake up people!!!!!!!
In the sense that 99% of them in politics are evil. Yes true. However the way they spend money is different. Democrats/Liberals tend to put money more often in worthwhile things such as schools and health care programs while raising our taxes. Republicans on the other hand spend all the extra money democrats saved, cut those great programs and then spend it on national defense and themselves. Both steal money, both raise taxes....its just that Democrats/liberals tend to put more of it into worthwhile projects and forming a budget THEN line their pockets.
Not Registered. Turned 18 like 3 months ago and I just didn't take the initiative.
I look at it like this, if you don't vote you can't bitch about anything going on in America. For example the political thread we have here at CAG, I don't think you should go into that unless you've voted last time around.

Can't bitch if you didn't try to make a change (vote)
Even if you think your vote is insignificant its not, you could be one of the people helping change your country for the better or worse depending on who you ask.

Ok what if you feel your ignorant of the facts and choose not to vote because you dont want to make the wrong choice? I think in this day and age its very hard to know the facts about the canidates because there is so much bias and spin. It doesnt amtter if you do your research online, offline, through the media or through a message board....everything is spun like a top.

I doubt I'll go out and vote. The only issue I really care about is net neutrality, and I don't know who supports it and who doesn't.
I am looking forward to the live Daily Show and Colbert Report tonight.

I only made decisions on the stuff I'm totally sure about. I still can't figure out what the difference between my mayoral candidates are... they're both Democrats, but I think one is more conservative than the other (and one sends me phone spam while the other sends me email spam, grrr).

You should have voted so you could have said NO to the Casino.

:D

I would, but in my state of MA, I am a registered minority. Democrats rule the state, and the republicain canidate for gov was getting her ass handed to her. Just seems stupid to go wait in line to vote for her, when she is down by as much as 30 points

Nope, forgot the deadline to register last month. Still registered under my old residence, but that's 50 miles away and I don't have a ID with that address.

oh that's not biased at all... i can see you're a democrat.

yes, i did vote. straight republican except for when there was no republican candidate, where i voted for the democrats.

Thats nothing more then an excuse. The truth can be found, you will never get all the facts however the truth can be found. I'll leave it at that.

Actually im an independent. Iv voted republican before, and there are cases where I would again. And its not biased, if it was Id have never mentioned that liberals and democrats steal money/raise taxes more frequently.

The difference between them like it or not IS largly that Republicans have a much larger chance of filling their pockets from horrid sources like the NRA and Enron while Democrats do the same but from better places like teachers unions. Less often this leads to horrible laws and spending on the democratic side.

When someone like Clinton is in office we see a nice fat surplus, kids doing better in schools, more art programs and less problems in areas like Welfare and homelessnes. On the flip side when a republican is doing their thing we see more war toys then we ever could need and money dissapearing left and right that no one seems to no where its going....because its going into tax cuts for the rich.

Man, this thread makes me sick.

If people wonder why issues you care about get blown off, this is why. If you wonder why video games get picked on by politicians, this is why. It's because, come voting time, the people who like to see video games get banned vote, those that don't, don't seem to bother, because they don't care about the issues.

Really, it's ok to skip issues. If you could truely care less, leave that one blank. If you hate the candidates, feel free to go in and write in Mickey Mouse (I actually wrote in a headless chicken for senator today, since I didn't like either candidate offered). The fact is, if you vote, it shows that you are willing to go to the polls and cast a ballet. You matter. If you don't vote, you don't matter.

I honestly think this is one of those things that you should bend over backwards to do. You need to make time to register, make time to see where the candidates stand on issues you care about, and make a decision. I'm not saying you have to spend hours on it, but honestly, in the last 6 months, how much time were you on CAG? Take an hour of that, and spend it reviewing candidates. Decide issues important to you, and see where you go. Honestly, it isn't that hard (the candidates push where they stand on most issues so that it's hard to miss).

Also, I wouldn't worry about "screwing up". Who cares. Honestly, what is really run well? Maybe your Sec of State, maybe your Attorney General, but most other positions are run terribly in most states. If you make an error, you can make up for it next election.

But, let's be clear here, candidates spend millions forming opinions that will win them votes. If they look at you as a non voter, they won't care about doing stuff that makes you happy.

The worst thing to do is, oh I hate both candidates, so I won't vote. That doesn't make sense.

Sorry for ranting.

You just want to vote for the party that makes it easier for you to sit at home and not have to get an actual job. :D Have fun living off ot others hard work!

I was a bit taken aback by the light turn out in my district. Usually I have to wait in line to vote, but I was in and out in under five minutes. They changed the polling place this year, though, and I'm wondering if that's a factor.

Also, no punch card ballots for my district this time around. My district was still using the punch cards for the '04 Presidential election and the '06 primaries. With the new ballots, you just color in the circle next to your choice. The new ballots are a lot simpler, but I never had any trouble with the old ones. (Seriously, does it take that long to look over your ballot and make sure you punched the thing through completely?)

I appreciate your frustration. I always wake up and get to the poll first thing in the morning (got there at 6:10AM, by which time the Diebold eletronic voting machine was already broken! ). This isn't something you should have to think about.

If you don't vote, then shut your fucking mouth and don't have an opinion for the next two years. If you don't care about putting down your controllers or mice long enough to help maintain or change the direction of this nation, then you shouldn't care at all the next two years. After all, if things are going bad, it's your goddamned fault for fucking off instead of voting or registering.

The only thing that makes me more sick than Republican voters are nonvoters. And, might I add, by a wide margin.

I maintain that those who count the votes are more important than those who vote. I encourage anyone with 10 minutes of free time to google their Congressperson's info, call or email them, and ask for legislation that eliminates computer voting.

If you have seen me say before that im on SSI and thats why your being an immature jackass you should realize.

1. Iv been in school for over a year now, despite how hard its been with panic attacks and not having a high school education iv done it. Unlike some people im willing to work to give myself a better future. So good job, again you showed like most people that feel that way you dont understand that poor people are not always looking for a hand out but just a hand to help them stand up on their own.

2. I'm getting married anyways. Our wonderfull wonderfull system takes what your spouse makes into consideration and then cripples your finances. I currently get $530 a month which isnt enough to live on(so you saying living off others hard work again shows your ignorance)and even though my fiancee doesnt make enough for us to live on our own, when we get married ill compltly loose my funds. Again, thanks in part to republicans but largely just the greedy fucks in power a couple is only allowed to make $900 a month COMBINED before they penalize you. Since she makes $17,000 a year....it means that my month payment will be reduced to about $40. Again God bless America(but she stole the b from bless)!

Thanks for playing. Come again!

He could be referring to the OH ballot, namely issue 3. The Special Interest ammendment that gives 9 locations the right to have slot machine gambling.

I always vote. As others have said - if you don't vote, you aren't entitled to complain. Michigan voters had to deal with some important topics like a constitutional amendment banning affirmative action - people who stay home when there is such a huge issue on the ballot are idiots.

I'm what you might called a disenfranchised voter. No candidates stand out enough for me to suppport them. I especially can't find any that agree with my stance on information policy and privacy.

Nope, RI ballot.

Question: I heard that when you sign up for the Secret Service, which is something you have to do, that you're registering to vote at the same time. Is that true, or do you have to do it another way?

How did you vote on that BTW? Seems everyone is voting no(I did)which shocks the hell out of me.
