Do any of the Guitar Hero Bundled Guitars(PS2) work with Rock Band(PS3)

I am planning on getting a PS3 in the future. Do any of the Guitars for the PS2 work with Rock Band PS3 also?

I had a USB adapter for my GH1 guitar and it didn't work with Rock Band. The error message I got sounded similar to when you try to use a PS3 GH3 guitar, so my hope was that if they ever release that compatibility patch, it might get PS2 guitars to work as well.

The adapter did get the guitar to work perfectly with GH1, at least.

I need a couple of those. Where did you get yours from? GS, EBGames, BB, CC, and RadioShack don't have them. Some GS employee told me that Sony stopped making them. Then I said what about third party adapters, he said he wasn't sure if anyone else made them. BB and CC employees tell me they don't think that exists. RadioShack employees say they don't carry them anymore.
 
I got mine from Fry's. It's a third party adapter and I don't remember the brand, although I'm pretty sure it wasn't Pelican. I've heard stories about the Pelican ones not working with GH2, or just plain not working at all.

Harmonix actually produced a patch that would enable the Rock Band guitar to function with Guitar Hero... but Activision refuses to let them release it. Not a fan of friendly competition apparently.:roll:

kinda backwards... the patch would allow the guitar hero guitar to work on rock band.

I just got RB for the PS2 as well and they look identical to the PS3 instruments. They even have the PS3 home buttons on them (although they are inactive on the PS2).

Hooking them up to the PC, they are recognized as PS3 guitar controller, so I'm assuming they are compatible with the PS3.

yup, read the rockband forums and this is what was determined from both company's press releases. There will be some 3rd party instruments released later this month that will work on both games. I'm sure someone here will point you in the appropriate direction. (one's by Nyko, don't remember the other).

awesome! i didn't know that TAC made this ps2 to ps3 converter. i have their ps2 flying v wireless controller and it works great, and their customer service is really good. has anyone ordered this adapter? i think i need some feedback on this befor i bite...

d'oh, I was thinking of the 360 version, where the Les Paul does work with Rock Band, but the Stratocaster doesn't work with GH3 because Activision won't let them put out the patch.

Curious that Harmonix dropped the ball on compatibility with the PS3 version...
