Do you unplug your Wii?

What are you guys spazzing out about people who disconnect WiConnect because they don't wanna piss electricity away?

Even if you have relatively cheap electricity (10 cents per KW... and some areas are more than twice that), it's still roughly 75 cents a month. 8 dollars a year for nothing is a waste. Even if you don't care about the carbon emissions, it's pissing money down the toilet at the moment.
I leave everything plugged in. Fat PS2, 6 years old, constantly plugged in and never had a DRE or any other problems (I leave mine horizontal, if that makes a difference). So with Nintendo's track record of nearly indistructable hardware, I leave it plugged in.
Same here.
I have the slim ps2. My first slim ps2 I left plugged in all the time and it died in less than a month. That's why I'm worried about leaving my Wii plugged in.
That's like saying you were eating potato chips one day while near the PS2 died, so you no longer eat potato chips near gaming systems. Leaving it plugged in had nothing to do with it.

If it worries you, just get a surger protector so that you can flip it on/off whenever you're not using it to at least save some power.
And this comes from?
Most audio/video electronics have recommendations in the manual to unplug the device if not being used for a relatively long time. I think they mean time spans of months, not days like people here are talking about.

I just unplugged mine because it was extremely hot when I felt it on the side. I have no idea why it's getting that hot when it's off.

WiiConnect24.

When the system goes into standby mode, the fan shuts off. It's still using a bit of energy, and without the fan on, it actually gets hotter than when its being played with the fan on.

It does get pretty warm with Wiconnect 24 on.

You don't have to unplug it though. Just either turn off Wiiconnect 24 in the system settings, or turn it off by holding down the power button on the Wii (not the Remote as it won't work) until the machine shuts off and the light turns red.

Only tapping the button on the Wii or using the button on the Remote puts it in standby with Wiiconnect 24 on (orange light) and it will stay pretty warm as the fan doesn't run.
