Dreamcast power cable question

So I managed to dig out my dreamcast which I purchased back in March of 2001 out of my parents basement...haven't played it since 2004 (it got pushed aside in favor of the gamecube...sorry). I was able to find the controllers and the av cables, however I couldn't find the correct power cable. Now I was able to find something that *fits* the back of the unit however I am not sure if this is safe to plug in as I am afraid it might blow out my dc...on the cable it says 7a 125v. Is this the correct/suitable cable or do I risk a blow out?

Your good to go. My friend lost his cable a while back and has used anything from the PS2 cable to his battery charger cable. Any figure 8 cable will work fine.

Using the wrong kind of cable/cord can potentially cause damage, but what you have will work just fine; that's the same voltage that the DC uses.

The Dreamcast uses a non-proprietary cable for power, so you can easily find others like it that work. The one for slim model PS2s (that connect from the wall to the box) and one from the original Xbox work just fine with it.

thanks for the input guys... however at the bottom of the dc it says AC 120v 60hz 27w...will this 7a 125v cable be a problem?

As long as it fits and doesn't have a power bar, it will be fine. My DC cord is the exact same voltage as that. If it has a power bar (looks like a big brick on the cord), I don't know if it might potentially cause a problem, but I don't think it would.

LOL, back in the day I used the same cable for two or three things lol. In fact the cable I got sitting next to my dreamcast now is probably a 9 year old ps2 one.
