According to another website, a poster with connections to a District Manager let him know that starting October 20th through October 29th all used games will be buy 2 get 1 free. Will obviously confirm this tomorrow, but this gives us something to check out on Friday.
I didnt get time to read this part, but I think I also saw that you can stack the Buy 2 Get 1 Free deal ontop of the DVD Sale currently going which is

3 DVDs for $10.00 if priced $5.99
3 DVDs for $20.00 if priced $9.99
3 DVDs for $30.00 if priced $12.99

and also use your 10% discount card.
This is how it's worked in the past, from my experience.

This means I might have to go in and look at some movies...:)

i read this thread title and was stoked until i realized there's nothing i really want that bad. i'll wait till their black friday deals, which are always good, and usually have a buy2get1 deal.
You realize it's for used games? I doubt they'll have used FF12 or Splinter Cell and you definatly can't pre-order used games.
You realize he's going to get the used games cheap to take to FYE and flip them in their trade 4 get on new game free deal?

Sorry, but I am slightly retarded. So, for example, I wanted to purchase 3 $5.99 DVD's for $10, how much would that cost me now with the B2G1 ?

"tank u so muc jew giiiess."
It's starts today (Friday) in my store. I hung up marketing materials towards the end of my shift last night...
What kind of a discount do you get? I got a seasonal help job with them, and my discount starts immediately even though I won't be actually working in the store until around mid-november.

I didn't want to ask them what my discount was during the job interview because I didn't want to sound pretentious, and it doesn't seem to say anywhere on the sheet they gave me that explains how I can use the discount and merchandise borrowing policies.

So how much of a discount do you get?
This sucks for me. I just bought three used DS games yesterday.
Most employees are nice and will let you return the DVDs then rebuy them to take advantage of the deal. Did it twice in the past w/ no problem.
I just bought Donkey Kong Jungle Beat + Bongos online from gamestop.com a couple days ago. Does anyone know if I can print out the receipt email
and bring it into an EBGames B&M and use that as part of the B2G1? Would I need the game/bongos with me if I can (they haven't come in the mail yet)?
from what i understand, no, you can't bring them in the stores, and get a refund, or store credit for that matter... there's something on the site that says that, i believe

When you did this did you need to bring in the reciepts and the games? Or is only the reciept required?

15% off on everything but new systems. Unfortunately corporate isn't letting us use our discount in combination with the B2G1 sale. Yeah, it's BS. It does stack with the Edge card though.

With the DVDs and the buy 3 for 10, you'll get them for about $6 change. What we do is discount it like normal, and then give you one of the DVDs for free.
I work at EB Games and we have no such sale coming up.
You sure you don't work for EG Games. This has not only been confirmed by employees that post here, but I've spoken directly with spectreon. Maybe your just too low on the totem pole for this kind of info:rofl:

can anyone think of somethin' they have for around $25 that has a decent resale value to them? i only liked tomb raider and hitman: blood money, and i may consider sellin' the 3rd thing back for store credit
Umm, the discount is 15% on everything EXCEPT new systems. He probably got the 25% from using the edge card, however it's already been said that employee discount DOES NOT work with this.

It depends on the manager, though.
Well he does get 25 percent off.

BOOYAKASHA!!!

Just walked out of the 30 Rock store with the following:

Starfox Command DS
DQ Rocket Slime DS
Megaman ZX DS

total after b2g1+10%off+tax = $58.51

I also grabbed the first and third Shadowheart games (I already had covenant) and Samurai Champloo all for the PS2, total after everything was $68.27

I hate getting raped over NYC taxes tho, its like 9%. =( I'll hit up some Jerzee stores on my way home today.

If anyone is in my area the store also had Valyrie Profile 2 Slimeria, and Yakuza, but at $45 each used, they were a little too rich for my blood, but they were in like new condition.

Happy hunting people!

Boo Hoo Hoo  It is 9.5 in Tennesse. I would expect it to be higher in the Northeast, but I guess our congressmen and women love raping us down here in the south. Only good thing is I can hop over to Kentucky, 15-30 min drive, and the rate goes down to 6%.

I picked up:

Magna Carta:Tears of Blood
FFVII: Dirge of Cerberus
Disgaea 2
Romance of 3 kingdoms VII
Romance of 3 kingdoms IX
Romance of 3 kingdoms X
Mario V DK2: March of the Minis
Mario Hoops 3on3
Metroid Prime Hunters
Me & My Katamari
Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike
Stella Deus: The Gate of Eternity

For 199.53 plus 12.97 tax = $212.50 - 24.20 (trade credit) = 188.30 for 12 games. that's $15.70 per game.

Ouch! Thats rough. Ya just have to figure 10% on top of anything you want to buy.

I work in NYC, but live in NJ. In NJ our tax is 6%, but... in my county, theres this 'urban improvement zone' initiative, and our tax rate is halved to 3%. Which is a big difference when your buying more than $100 worth of games. Thats why I never buy systems in NYC, I wait till I get home. ;)

I'm not sure what to do about this deal... I amassed $402 during the Trade 3 + $10 deal, that I was saving up to buy a 360... I really want to wait until the new ones come out in the 1st quarter 2007, but with this deal, I'm not sure that I can wait that long...

This is so strange. The fact that a 360 is exactly what I wanted, and now with the fact that I can pick it up used with a used HD and get 2K7 for free, I'm hesistant to bite on this deal...

Do you guys think that this would be a good deal to jump on, or should I wait for the cooler (Temperature wise) 360 to roll out in a couple of months?

If your gonna get a 360 no matter what, you might want to stock up on some games for it now. I saw nearly every 360 game used today, including that Zombie Mall game. This deal wont really help you get a 360 any cheaper than if you bought it on a normal day. I also dont know what your money sit is like. Do you need to pay for the entire 360 with store credit? If so then you might want to hold your credit for that.

I'm waiting on the new model 360.

EB will run this deal again. They seem to do this deal every 2-3 months. I might stop by and pick up a couple DS games and other Christmas presents. It's tough choosing between this sale and the TRU sale starting this weekend.

As long as you have enough space to give the 360 room to breath you should be fine. Not all, but many off the problems associated with them getting overheated were because of people putting them in cramped spaces like they used to do with every other prior system and the systems today generate a lot more heat.
Is B2G1 at EB/GS considered better than the TRU B2G1 that starts this Sunday?
It's Apples and Oranges, TRU is new games, EB/GS is used games
Is B2G1 at EB/GS considered better than the TRU B2G1 that starts this Sunday?
depends on whether you want new or used games. EB/GS is only for used games and TRU is only for new games. so you can potentially get currently released games for lower prices at EB/GS since they're used, but there is one advantage to the TRU sale - you can pick up 3 games and then come back later when games that haven't been released yet are released and then exchange the games. hope that helps.
Is B2G1 at EB/GS considered better than the TRU B2G1 that starts this Sunday?
Well the TRU sale is for new games. So you'll be spending a little more per game on average. But some people prefer new, sealed games. The EB/GS sale is on used, so the condition and completeness of the games will vary. Plus EB will have a larger selection of games, cos I doubt TRU has many new games that are over a year old unless they are GH titles.

If all you care about it playing the game, the EB sale is better. If your a collector, the TRU sale is probably the way to go.
So...this sale is confirmed then?!
lol... just called to make sure, and yes, applies to used games, dvd's, and apparently, accessories, too. did not know that... and yes, this works for used dvd's that are 3/$10 or 3/$20, which would come out to $6.66 and 13.33, respectively... edge card will help, too.

does anyone know if ebgames store credit's like gamestop's gamebucks? 'cause if i remember, gamebucks are tax free on what you buy...

Not entirely true. It is going to be very YMMV on the return/exchange this year, with the new return rules implemented.

Cool, thanks for the info.

What are the new rules? Exchanging sounds good but doesn't make sense to me as I can't see them allowing you to do a straight exchange after having taken advantage of this kind of sale. Usually you'd have to pay the difference between the retail price of the new game vs. the sale price of the game you're exchanging.

Yeah i was wrong, apparently my store didn't recieve any marketing materials, just talked to my boss and he didn't even know lol.....

I'm not sure about TRU's return policy, but I know at EB we have 7 day exchange/return on used games. 7 days unopened on new.... It really is YMMV though on returns some people care and some don't.

Tip: In the back of the month's GameInformer there is a coupon for an additional 10% off 3 used games... which means B2G1 + 20% off with Edge card. Everything should stack depeding on store manager, I know my store will stack it.

I'd consider the EB/GS deal better assuming you don't mind buying used copies since you save some money over buying the same games at TRU (which sometimes are higher priced too). I may swing by TRU to see if I can pick up the games that my EB/GS did not have though (Metal Gear Acid 2 and Mario Advance 4).

It's confirmed. I just got back and got....

Beatmania w/ Controller (very obviously mislabeled) 24.99
Desperate Housewives Season 2 24.99
Deep Labrynth DS (19.99) Free

I specifically asked about exchanges and they said 7 day exchanges are a-ok. I may bring Beatmania back if it's as horrible as everyone says it is.

Holy monkeys!!! Check out this haul. All complete and mint condition. They look brand new!

Shadow hearts: covenant
Shadow hearts: from the new world
cubivore

All for...$66.00. I already had 40.00 in store credit from flipping. So I paid around 30.00 for the 3 games. A winner is me!!!

Whenever this sale hits I usually do the store locator to figure out which store has the used games I want.

Now gamestop.com has changed their damn system! I can no longer do store searches for used games if they are not "instock" at gamestop.com, that sucks.

What do you mean? They only have 4 used DS games but I've been checking locally for games I want.

I just used gamestop.com to find used copies close to me using the check store avalability.

Yeah on instock used games at the .com site.

Use Lego Star Wars 2 for 360 for example.

In the old layout, even though it wasnt instock at the website I could still do a store search for it. Now when you do a search it says "Not instock. May be available at your local store".

You can no longer search for ANY used games. This is terrible for me because I have like 23 gamestops within 50 miles of me. Most of them in upper income areas where the kids are brats and trade new releases in constantly.

Example:http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product_id=200212

its slow at work today and Im reeeally fighting the urge to go back to the EB near here and look for more games. Im gonna hit up like 3 more stores on my way home today as it is. And I was hoping to save some money for the TRU sale.

Question. Has anyone seen Futurama for the PS2 anywhere ever? Ive been looking for this game for like a year now. Once in a while I'll see it for the xbox, but I NEVER see it for the PS2.

I went to the EB close to my work at lunch, and picked up some decent stuff.

DS - Cooking Mama, Advance Wars DS, Tony Hawk Sk8land 17.99 each
GBA - Riviera, FF Tactics, Sword of Mana 14.99 each

Thanks for the heads up OP

Man, good luck finding THAT game. I've worked at Gamestop over a year now, and I've seen ONE PS2 version come in. And that was the first in the district in a while. So of course I bought it because a gigantic Futurama fan. I was at a GameCrazy, and I managed to find an Xbox version, so I got it because it's BC.

I just came back from an EBGames where "I" informed them that the sale was on. He had to call 3 different stores to confirm. So as he was ringing me up, the power went out and I have to go back later. Guess I wasn't meant to get DOAX, Otogi and Kung Fu Chaos.
