According to another website, a poster with connections to a District Manager let him know that starting October 20th through October 29th all used games will be buy 2 get 1 free. Will obviously confirm this tomorrow, but this gives us something to check out on Friday.
We're sure this includes accessories, right? And theoretically I could get 2 games and one, yes?

Side question - is it worth it to pick up a Gamecube BBA?
Strell, it does include accessories and you can match them up with games, which is what I ended up doing.
We're sure this includes accessories, right? And theoretically I could get 2 games and one, yes?

I was allowed to use an accessory. I got Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Xbox, Zelda Collector's disc GC, and a Game Boy Player.

The broadband adapter seems pretty useless to me. As far as I know, only Phantasy Star is playable online. The only good thing about the BBA is that supposedly if you have multiple BBAs and GCs you can play Mario Kart and Kirby Air Ride in LAN mode.
I had a guy take all my games and started scanning them willy nilly. I told him you have to scan them in groups of 3. He started arguing with me that the system just marks off the cheapest games, working up. I had like three $45 games and three $20s and would have wound up paying $20 more. I was about to tell him he was a moron when the manager turned around and said, "No, hes right, its every third game free." He just went ...oh... and started scanning them in the order I laid them out. :D

Also, the last GS I went to, they had no problem letting me group them. But then I had 4 piles...
Same thing today, 9 games, he said it was every third game but it ended up taking off the cheapest three of course. So he had to scan them all again, but at least he said he won't make that mistake again.

Was able to get Enterprise Season 3 at 39.99 with two other 39.99 games for the roommate, don't even remember what they were though.
As for Resevoir Dogs, it was the original DVD release, and any true fan probably has the 10th Anniversary Special Edition.
'nuff said

Well tomorrow I will start my journey to 8 different GS/EB stores in three different cities and see what I can find during this sale. I usually end up with about 15-20 games (not including any movies I find) when they have this sale. Then I also need to check out TRU for their B2G1 sale. Man, my credit cards are loving me.........

You could also try those two games online using Warp Pipe

I've never done it myself as I don't have the broadband adapter for my GCN, so I don't know how well it works or how many people are still using it.

Any LAN enabled game can also be played online with Warp Pipe

I wish I could find someone to play with over Warp Pipe. I bought a BBA over a year ago and have yet to find anyone else with Mario Kart and Warp Pipe.

sorry that im not going back to read the rest of the thread, but its confirmed that this deal is going on until the 28th?
sorry that im not going back to read the rest of the thread, but its confirmed that this deal is going on until the 28th?
Yes, it's been confirmed.

I just got back, I got THPS4, THUG, and Metroid Prime plus I preordered Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin for a total of $20. What's the deal with GC used games not being as cheap as PS2 and Xbox used games? I was really hoping to get Super Smash Bros. Melee, but $26 used and $30 new? Please. Why is it still that expensive? There were like 7 used copies too.

The smash community even outnumbers Street Fighters, thanks to smashboards.com. Heck, I think the smash community is as large as Halo - and that's saying a lot. It was PC and 19.99 for a while. But Nintendo realized that SSBM was only starting to be discovered (which is odd) so they bumped it back up to 29.99 as a Best Seller.

Grabbed Prision Break Season 1, Sopranaos Season 1, and Tomb Raider: Legends for XBox 360. After 10% off MORE! card, 10% off coupon from GI, I managed only paying $56...not bad, not bad at all.

Buy 3, sell 2. Keep yours ~ free.

This has held value very well. I guess it really is that good. Thanks for reminding me, need to pick that up too.

Yeah that's how i was able to get Super Smash Bros Melee...Got Deadwood Season 1 & 2 & planning to sell it & get SSBM free...
Yeah that's how i was able to get Super Smash Bros Melee...Got Deadwood Season 1 & 2 & planning to sell it & get SSBM free...
now this i don't get... so can you clarify how tradin' in those expensive boxsets (which i assume you got earlier from this deal) for SSBM is good, for lack of a better word? could you have gotten SSBM as a free game if you spent to get the box sets?
Deadwood Season 1 & 2 can get you about $100 on ebay...I only paid $51 for Deadwood Season 1 & 2 + free SSBM...
Ah, see I just got season ones as season two wasn't doing so hot on amazon in relation to teh stickered price at GS. (I'm boycotting the 'bay.. sort of)

Thats wy I spent about $1000. B2G1 means (to me) get everything you want free by buying 2 things you can resell for what GS is selling it for. Box sets work great b/c of their desirability, value at gamestop (allows one to get more expensive games as the free item) and resale price. Oh yeah, and they sell FAST, too.

Carnevale season 2 is also selling for about $10 more on Amazon used than GS is selling it for. Last year Star Trek sets and star wars 4,5, and 6 were good fodder as well, but doesn't seem like that is the case now.

There are a lot of Zelda collector edition discs at my GSes... I'm not sure how fast they move online but they seem to also sell online for what they are stickered at GS.

I came up with the same idea last night before checking the thread. Did a little research and bought 6 games with the intention of keeping two for little to no cost. The only thing that sucks about it, is that I want to keep more than I can afford to and its hard to let them go. Usually I try not to resell unless the profit is noticable, but I can -not- turn down free games. :D

I think this is why I don't do this (well, along with the fact that I really don't have the time or inclination to sell my items on ebay right now, maybe once I'm through the MBA program). It's not "free" games if you can't bring yourself to sell the other ones.

I would think it would be easier to have a plan before you go into the store (what games you want for free), and try to buy the stuff your going to sell as duplicates to what you already have. That should make them easier to sell (since you can still play your copy of those games).

I used to do similar on Ebay with Dreamcast stuff. I was looking for certain items here and there. While I may find the one I was interested in, the asking (or final) auction price (+shipping) would often be more than I really wanted to pay (even thou I could afford it). So, I would look for larger lots of stuff where it might cost me $100 or so for the entire group. I would take the items I wanted, regroup and resell the stuff I didn't want to keep on ebay.

Most times I would end up just having a couple of dollars paid for the stuff I kept. A few times I got more for the stuff than what I paid for it...making my stuff LESS than free. :} Many people just don't want to hassle with the big lots as they see $100 here and there as a lot of money to spend just to get one or two things. However, you often can get a lot more for that same $100 than if you purchased the items you wanted individually.

It's good to be a CAG. :}

picked up some more games at my local GS. grabbed a ps2 version of psychonauts since they didnt have the xbox version. and i was in a rush and grabbed unlimited saga instead of something i might have liked.

PS2 - Psychonauts $19.99
PS2 - Wild Arms 4 $17.99
DS - Meteos $17.99 (free)

PS2 - Wild Arms 3 $7.99
PS2 - Dark Cloud $7.99
PS2 - Unlimited SaGa $5.99 (free)

so for like $50 bucks after my 10% off to add some more games to my colleciton that i have no time to play.

i sitll have about 7 unopened games, and another 20 or so ive not played or played less than 5 minutes of. I really need more time.

Yeah but I bet thats the one hes most tempted to keep.
Yeah but I bet thats the one hes most tempted to keep.
LOL yeah!

Actually it ranges form $60-$90 or so on ebay. Amazon's lowest is about $87.
that's why you use a credit card and buy lots, then sell it before the bill comes due.
credit cards are bad because your limit can be over 5000 dollars while debit cards are limited to what you put in it which is a good thing for budgeting. but of course if you forgot how much you have then, your pretty much screwed.

If you stay on top of your finances, Credit Cards are awesome because they allow you to earn free points towards things you may never be able to purchase. They can also be used as a major cash flow tool (accounting wise). Just make sure not to put on more than you can pay off at the end of each month. I often rack up close to $2,000 on my bill, but lots of it is stuff I intend to resell, purchase for others (in return for them giving me cash now that I can use to earn interest/make more money), or would have paid for anyways (utilities, car payment).

My Gamstop here only ran this deal from friday(10/20) to sunday(10/22). I am very pissed as I had the games I wanted picked-out to pick up on monday. I did get Eternal Darkness for 12.99 on my return though.

Used properly they are a 25 -day (or 30 day) free loan w/ % back.

I get 1% on my cards in the form of amazon GCs. Most of the stuff I bought ot sell sold within 48 hours, so I alrady have the money back.

Picked up
:ps2:Maximo vs Army of Zin (8)
:ps2:Tony Hawk Underground (7)
:ps2:Frequency (7/free)

I had 4 more games and was looking for more, but somehow I reined it in (for now).

Ran by a GS again tonight after we went out for dinner. I picked up a second copy of Project Snowblind for System Link play, as well as, Dead to Rights and Genma Onimusha. $15 for all three. Love them B2G1Free sales. :}

Today I got:

Disgaea 2
Rule of Rose
Kingdom Hearts II - Free

and

Quake 4 w/bonus disc
Samurai Champloo
Grandia III - free

At the same store they allowed me to combine the 3 for $10 deal on DVDs + B2G1 + Edge discount.

That took the cost of these down to about $2 each:

Ghost in the Shell: SAC Vol. 1 - Vol. 5
Resident Evil: Apocalypse SE

I read two guys rumbling about Reservoir Dogs earlier in this thread so I picked up Reservoir Dogs 10 year 2-disc SE for $5.7x with 10% off. Sadly, could not find 2 other $5.99 DVDs to get B2G1 free. Hope it's good but even if it isn't, it was $5.99. Basically same as a rental but I get to keep it.
so is this deal now ymmv for the rest of the week?
I hope so, I have to stop spending... but now I want to try to find Enterprise Season 1 since I have the rest of the seaons thanks to the sale.
I love EBs in the mall.

Bully: $30 (with various discounts)
Loco Roco: $30 (with Edge card + coupon)
Okami: Free
Now thats a sweet haul if Ive seen one... new release trade ins ftw

My friends went today to do what I did. Apparently the GS cashier told them the buy2get1 used expired over the weekend. They both picked up 4 games each though.

They were able to get G-dfather and a preorder for Marvel UA at F.Y.E., both 360, and the other kid got NBA 2k7 and a preorder for Marvel UA.

Gamestop was in Merrick, NY. - F.Y.E. was in Freeport, NY.

edited for lack of info

This is slightly alarming. Anyway, 2 of my local stores are still doing it, and one manager told me it is running until the 30th.

Condemned Criminal Origins and Far Cry Instincts Predator(360) and Shadow Hearts from the New World(ps2) for $76 total. Not too shabby.

That's a really impressive haul. Makes me want to get my PS2 back from my friend. All she does is play Dance Dance. Although I haven't bought a PS2 game in a long time, Bully actually interests me. And Okami, now there's a game that wedges a stick up the asses of those that piddle around art=games.

Picked up DDR Mario Mix w/ pad for $25 and a couple other games. Had no intentions of getting DDR, but 5 minutes earlier I saw one in Sears, so when I saw a used one in EB I figured what the hell.

I found 3 $9.99 DVDs today and went up to the counter to combine the buy 3 get 1 and the 3/$20 deal and my 10% discount. I bought DVDs at this same store a few days ago so I brought my receipt just in case whoever was working tried to say the deals couldn't combine. Sure enough, the guy behind the counter didn't want to combine the deals, but decided to combine them after I showed him my receipt from a couple days ago.

The movies SHOULD have been $4 each after discounts, but he coouldn't figure the math out so I ended up getting them for $3.33 each instead. Now I wish I would have taken a bigger stack of $10 DVDs up there.

I got:

Dark Crystal (Superbit)
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (
Pee Wee's Big Adventure

What sucks is I also had 3 $12.99 DVDs I wanted to buy as well, which would have been $6 each after discounts, but he couldn't find the 2nd disc for the Mary Poppins 2-disc Special Edition, so I left the other 2 movies at the counter (Final Destination 3 and the Jackie Brown 2-disc Special Edition). Maybe I'll go back in a couple days and grab them once they find the other disc (the guy said they were watching it the day before so they did have it somewhere).

They had the Indiana Jones box set for $30 and the Eerie Indiana box set for $20, but I couldn't really find anything to go with them as my free box set.

I'm surprised the 10th Annv. Edition was marked at $5.99. It should be a $9.99 movie in their system. My guess is a clueless employee rang it into the system as the original DVD release of Resevoir Dogs, which is a $5.90 movie. Regardless, I still have a sealed copy from back when it was $4.00 brand new at Blockbuster during their buy 1 get 1 free sale on $8.00 DVDs.

I went to GS needing a memory card. I thought they would be like $12.99. They were $17.99. With my way of thinking, I thought, "hey, might as well get something else for $17.99 to get something else free." Makes sense, right?

Well, here's what I got:

God of War: $17.99
Shadow of the Colossus: $17.99
Sony PS2 Memory Card: $17,99

Not too bad. There are only a handful of games that I am willing to pay money for. I now own 3 of them (Psychonauts is the 3rd).
