Fallout 3 - Gen. Discussion & Info - 'GOTY' Edition w/All 5 DLC Packs 10.13.09

I am SO glad I made a new save for the pitt and didn't save over my master file. That would have sucked and I am sorry for anybody who's file was corrupted.

Wow that was...SHORT. Pretty much over before you know it but at least you can play it again with different choices and collect 100 steel things. Gut reaction is to say don't buy. Just too damn short to be worth it.

Over that quick, huh? That stinks. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt, because Fallout 3, in my opinion, is such a great value on its own. Nonetheless, pretty disappointing these first two pieces of DLC have not been that great.

Seems to be working well now that I went and played another game and then tried it again. I am searching for the ingots before I do anything else, I am at around 75 of them, but they are becoming annoyingly difficult to find at this point.

Just finished the Pitt. MUCH better then the last DLC. I am one who actually enjoyed Operation Anchorage, but ultimately it was more of an amusing 2 hours then an actual Fallout quest. The Pitt, if you actually try to get all the achievements, for me at least was a solid 5 hours. The whole quest was amazing looking, the story was interesting, there was multiple ways to finish it, and lots of killing. If it was part of the original game, it would have been one of the high points. Easily worth 10 bucks.

SHORT? The last DLC took me maybe 2 hours? This took me at least 5 hours, esp. to get all 100 ingots.

Yeah, I just finished The Pitt. It took me close to four hours to complete everything and attain every new achievement. I enjoyed it; the visual look of The Pitt is what grabbed me the strongest. The Pitt has a distinctive look that sets it apart from every other area in the Capital Wasteland.

If you are interested in playing more Fallout 3—I sure was, especially after getting the gauss rifle from Operation Anchorage—then The Pitt is probably worth the ten bucks. Hmm, I guess my biggest complaint though is that it ended; it would be awesome to have an expansion as large and of the same quality as Shivering Isles.

The Pitt was pretty good, like anchorage it was short You get some good guns by collecting those metal pieces, finding all 100 is the hard part

Spent three hours on it, including getting all the ingots. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Much better than OA.

Stealing that baby was pretty goddamn funny, too. Hahahaha.

I think the biggest disappointment for me was how small everything was. I think the amount of new areas could be counted on one hand and it didn't exactly live up to the description of what I thought would be a "city" environment. And it took me an hour and forty five minutes to play through the missions on hard (I didn't do the 100 grab mission). Five hours seems to be stretching it quite a bit.

If you're on Facebook, check out Fallout 3's page. They keep randomly posting codes for OA. In the last two days, they have posted three, two for XBL and one for GWL.

In The Pitt is there a good place to store some of these items? I got all 100 ingots but I'm encumbered by the weapons and armors, i want to store it for a time i can bring them back a few at a time back to my home in megaton. Or do all those items stay in The Pitt?

There is a mailbox next to a army truck in front of the entrance gate to the pitt, thats where I stored my weapons cause I thought I wouldnt get them back

Is there any recommended areas inside the slave area? I'm not sure if i can go back out the front at this moment

I used one of the lockers outside the Arena, just somewhere you know you'll remember works.

Overall it was pretty nice, definitely worth the points. I can't wait for Broken Steel.
How do I use the ammo press machine in the Pitt, I cant find where I put the raw materials/other ammo
Anyone??

Also, I am having trouble getting into Fort Independence(Outcasts home). I am a friend of them and Protector Casdin said he will alert the patrols that im cool but I cant go through the door of the fort. Casdin is always watchin and the only way I can get in is to pick the lock, what am I doing wrong???

Man, I was just reading that the DC ruins were originally planned to be twice as big. Also, there was going to be a mission where the Enclave launched a massive assault against Rivet City, and you had to escort the citizens to the Citadel.
Hey guys, I just picked up the collectors edition for $30 at bestbuy. That is a good deal, right?
Yes? Do you like all the shit you got for $30? If so, then yeah it's a good deal for you.

So for those wondering how to make ammo, basically you find a terminal for the ammo press and next to it (well, nearby really) is a machine that presses up and down on a hot piece of metal (it's bright orange) and just beneath it is a container that you can place bullets into. Once that is done, go back to the terminal and convert it and poof you'll find your brand new bullets right where you left the last ones. Conversion can be weird. I put a thousand 5mm and only got 80 .44

How are you guys playing the Pitt? Every time I enter the door to downtown the xbox freezes. I've tried about 3 times now even with the patch. This is ridiculous!

Have you tried deleting The Pitt and then redownloading it?

I got The Pitt and am enjoying it (although I haven't found any ingots (?)) but is this the DLC that also includes the graphic improvements to the textures or it that on Brotherhood of Steel?
Have you tried deleting The Pitt and then redownloading it?
I haven't, I will try that tonight and see if it works. Thanks!
So I have a save where I killed Ashur and one where ti drove out Werner, err which one do you think is more fitting for a good type char?
I don't think your decision affects your karma. I'm a good character and I decided to
convince Werner to leave the Pitt, I didn't gain any negative karma. It's a matter of who you want to fight. Either the Pitt Raiders or Pitt slaves. I chose the slaves since they seem to only carry Auto Axes while the Raiders actually have guns and they're all over the place. If you choose to help Asher you gain access to the Mill's arsenal.

Btw, I began collecting ingots, did anyone's game start lagging after finishing the last quest?

Whew, I finished all of the DLC last night, ingets included. Pretty good but I'm not sure if it was worth $10. $5 for sure but I suppose the Auto AX is pretty awesome. Oh well. I'll probably still get Broken Steel as raising the level cap is going to be awesome.

Its Official saw it a few Days ago.

FALLOUT 3 2008 Game of the Year.

a well deserved honor, I think now Microsoft flips the bill for a DELUXE GOTY Edition which should included codes for or The Pitt DLC and Operation Anchorage DLC on disk or codes in box.

Can not believe it beat out Gears of War 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4
is the Pitt worth getting?
The Pitt alone for the $10 adds like 3 hours of gameplay which is a good value for the 2008 Game of the Year.

Aside from that, it adds a bunch of new weapons and items.

But for me mainly it adds that Yellow Chainsaw weapon, and a M4 carbine type weapon with Scope and Silencer

for those 2 weapons alone I am getting The Pitt, which can then be used in the rest of the Fallout 3 wasteland Game.

They are also adding a Patch where once you finish the main Story Quest the Game can continue on.

The Pitt is short for Pittsburg,PA so you leave DC.

To me, something like The Pitt is definitely worth $10, especially in this day and age. You have companies putting out crap like skins for a few bucks. With The Pitt, you're getting three to four hour of extra game play, as well new weapons.

Hey, I bought those skins!

So far the only DLC I've bought has been:

 • 4 SFIV costumes packs (JEKKI sent me the other one, thanks JEKKI!)
 • GTAIV: Lost and Damned
 • Fallout 3: Operation Anchorage and The Pitt
I'll pretty much buy any DLC if I consider the game one of my favorites.

Yeah but rember oblivion DLC it was 800 points for 10 hours of game play ,30 hours for $30.they gave away a 3-4 hour qwest for chrismas

Which Oblivion add on was 800 points for 10 hours? Knights of the Nine? I got it but it was so long ago that I don't remember how much it cost. I never finished it either. The final kick in the nuts is that I sold my 360 copy of Oblivion for the PS3 GOTY version so now that money is pretty much gone unless I decide I want to play Oblivion on the 360 again.

I guess that's my biggest gripe with DLC and the reason developers like it so much. It can at least partially tie you to your purchase. I'll probably never get rid of GTA4 now that I've downloaded The Lost & Damned to go with it.

Remember guys the Horse Armor was $5 400 points, and that was for 2 pieces of Armor.

The Pitt is $10 800 points, but has 200x the content Horse armor did plus actual weapons and items

The DLC efforts so far sound unbelievably terrible. It seems like one of those "good on paper" concepts, barring the obvious exceptions (Rock Band).

If you are referring to the glitches, you are right, if you are referring to the quality of the game, I think it was well worth the 20 bucks for both DLC.

I have greatly enjoyed the DLC except for the fact that while playing the Pitt, it RROD'd my xbox...Obviously not a Fallout problem but still infuriating...The game also froze three times before that. Ugh.

I can't say I really enjoyed this DLC. Seems like most of the gameplay for this involved getting the ingots, as everything else could be done in under 2 hours. The ingot-gathering also seemed like it had the largest and most interesting area there. Spending most of my time on an easter egg hunt doesn't exactly endear this dlc to me.

finished the pitt tonight. It was pretty awesome I must say, much better than Operation Anchorage.

For some odd reason when Mickey stepped outside the Megaton city door he dropped dead :/. I didn't give him a purified water while he was inside Megaton. I suppose that was a glitch.

What are the chances of them releasing a disc with all this DLC on it along with the original game? Like the oblivion version. I haven't bought any of the DLC yet and sold my original copy.

^^
Maybe later down the line I would assume there would be a similar game of the year addition

I was playin the game over again, and was thinking what was Commonwealth?? I looked it up and it up and found it is Massachusetts but post apocalyptic, and wondered why wasnt it to be a DLC? You could help the Androids or the regular people, but then it would be a Pitt replica with new things. Just an interesting idea
