Fallout 3 - Gen. Discussion & Info - 'GOTY' Edition w/All 5 DLC Packs 10.13.09

Maybe later down the line I would assume there would be a similar game of the year addition

I was playin the game over again, and was thinking what was Commonwealth?? I looked it up and it up and found it is Massachusetts but post apocalyptic, and wondered why wasnt it to be a DLC? You could help the Androids or the regular people, but then it would be a Pitt replica with new things. Just an interesting idea
People are thinking it might eventually become DLC, as sales have been doing well for the Anchorage and Pitt add-ons, or it could eventually become a GOTY edition add-on, or it could be in a sequel! So many possibilities.

On a side not, are we still getting Broken Steel this month?

I just finished the main storyline last night (65+ hours) and although the ending was very dissapointing, the game itself was fantastic.

I loaded up a previous save and I am roaming around the wasteland with Fawkes at the moment - discovering new areas. I'm thinking about picking up The Pitt soon since I am going to run out of stuff to do.

Well, at the very least, we know Obsidian knows what they are going with RPGs. Sith Lords was very good and could have been great if Lucas Arts didn't make them rush it the door. Neverwinter Nights 2 was quite good. And Alpha Protocol definitely looks interesting. I am confident they will knock one out of the part with Fallout.
Cool. I'm guessing it will be a huge expansion instead of the little bits we've been getting.
It's not DLC...it's a new game.

^ Exactly. I was hoping it'd be released this week, but it looks like it won't. Hopefully we'll get an announcement by the end of the week saying it'll be out next week. They already delayed it enough and better not do it again!

I haven't finished The Pitt yet, so I'm cool to wait for Broken Steel. I'm using a save that hasn't finished the main story yet either. I missed a few of the side quests and I want to eventually go back and finish them. I'll have to do that before Broken Steel since you have to have finished the main quest.

For those of you who have already played Anchorage & The Pitt...would it be worth for a newcomer like my self, which I'm currently at level 8 to play either, or both now, or wait till I level up some more?

Also Broken Steel sounds like a definite must buy.

I recently picked up Fallout 3 and am about to start it up but I had some questions about the various expansions. Are they seamless to general game? In other words is it a situation where I could buy them and experience those portions as part of the normal game structure or does it play more stand alone. (I hope that make sense). I also keep hearing that Broken Steel blows up the ending. Does it make sense then to play through to the end then buy Broken Steel as to experience the ending?

The content found in the first two DLCs can be experienced at any time during the game. And the thing about Broken Steel is that the game had multiple endings, so now, the way certain people played the game will not be canon, but that's generally always the case.

they are not stand alone, you play through your regular file. and with the fact that broken steal allows you to keep playing past the end, i made a second save file right before the end. hope that helps

Thanks. Maybe I'm being dense or it's the fact I'm trying to get information without getting too much detail to spoil anything but...There are multiple endings, OK, I get that but with Broken Steel they don't exist at all or they are just significant events (for lack of a better expression)?

Thinking about it, it might be possible that NONE of the Fallout 3 endings are canon. Who knows. At the end of the day, it will be impossible for them all to have taken place, because they are all pretty similar. It's just a bunch of deviations. The ending has been the one negative thing that mostly everyone has had to say about this game, and that's because they pretty much had something like this planned all along, you have to think.

Anyway, more importantly, a new screenshot I just saw reminded me of something that could be significantly different about the Capital Wasteland...

...fresh water! I just saw the screenshot of water flowing out of the Jefferson Memorial. If Project Purity worked, I am guessing there will be some minor changes to the immediate area, at the very least.

Damn it...I just finished Riley's Rangers mission and like a dumbass I went to the underworld to meet up with Riley and turns out she's at the ranger camp...it's so far away and the closest area to get there is infested with super mutants :bomb:

FINALLY we get a release date. Time to finish up the campaign. I was holding off for the level cap increase, but it looks like I'll need to beat the game for it to matter.

Anybody catch that little preview on Live? At the end, Major says BS is available, which it clearly isn't. I wonder how many people went and took a peek at the game's download list.

damn, can you control liberty prime? When he does the scanning part it looks like there is zooming in on the door like your controlling. Would be pretty cool to do

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Oh wait, you were serious? You do remember Bethesda makes this right?
I'll catch it tomorrow on my day off. (and there better not be any glitches...)

I totally forgot that this lands tomorrow. And I'm off. It's fate.

//edit: That trailer just totally raped my wallet of money. Holy crap, this will be amazing.
That trailer was awesome! I guess there's no point in me buying this though since I haven't finished the game, but when I do, I'm so there.
I think it'll up the cap regardless of whether or not you've reached the end.
