lately i have been noticing that Firefox has been saying download complete, when I never requested a download in the first place. It would seem that it has been downloading the trailer from DoAX2..according to the download logs it has done it 8 times :O

My internet has been acting slow, but I've been checking the download monitor and it doesn't show any download activity them BAM it says download complete at random. Do you think its spyware or something messing with firefox? I can't stop what I don't know is being downloaded. This is with Firefox 2.0.0.1

Suggestions?

yea...

ok I was off to watch the Serienty DVD, and my computer was idle, no firefox or anything, just got it out of screen saver mode and now its trying to download 3 trailers/videos from gametrailers.com and project mars vid from another site.....WTF is going on here?!?!?!

I imagine someone else uses your computer? In all honesty do you look at porn sites? Even the freebies can fuck you up,not that I'd know ;)

I would run some spyware software like adaware or spybot maybe some hijackthis and see what you find.

www.gametrailers.com is a porn site?
Hmm... use Internet Explorer instead.

Firefox is probably the worst browser ever created.
Why?
Firefox is for porn surfers. I have always used IE and never had any problems.
The only problem with IE is that it's easier for spyware and other malicious programs to be installed on your computer. But if you run Adaware on a normal basis, and have a capable anti-virus, you shouldn't have any problems.

One thing I dislike about Firefox, is that it uses a ridiculous amount of RAM, even more so if you have tabs open.

No tone of voice on the internet, can't distinguish between sarcasm and real statments.

Yeah, Firefox does use a lot of RAM, but I like it due to the ability to have plug-ins. Also IE7 is pretty decent.

Yes, that's true.

I haven't been able to use IE7 yet, but I'd like to see how much memory it uses on average. That is, to compare it to IE6, and the current version of Firefox.

OK stop the IE vs FF debate...... is there any program I can download that will allow me to monitor anything being downloaded to my computer?

Sorry to get off topic OP. I suggest you clear your cache, cookies and etc.

I also suggest a reinstall. Just back up your bookmarks from :
C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ivmz98c6.default\bookmarkbackups

And reinstall.

I think that will do the trick.

Download:
SpyBot Search & Destroy - run it
A good firewall - install it
a cookie - eat me ....
clean browser cache - do it
hire a technician - optional haha
