Fox Hunt (PS1) - Worth the $28?

I saw a complete copy of this game at a local store this weekend and was tempted to pick it up since it is one of the rarer games on the Playstation. I know it is a FMV adventure, but is it worth playing?

I know eBay prices for this game generally end around this price as well, but it's always nice to just pick something up without having to go through all the eBay hoops.

I found this GameSpot review, but it just makes me more intrigued:
If you didn't know Fox Hunt existed, don't be surprised. Originally released for the PC (it bombed so badly the explosion could be heard on Jupiter), Fox Hunt touts itself as a "comedy spy thriller." And it's about as funny as a double homicide and about as thrilling as a presidential debate.

Fox Hunt throws three gameplay segments at you: Explore modes, where you walk around and pick up items; Fight modes, where you battle opponents in hand-to-hand combat (of the Three Stooges variety); and Maze/Tunnel modes, where you steer a vehicle through a confusing series of paths. All of this is shown with jumpy, blurry full-motion video clips (the footage might very well have been shot on 16mm, but that doesn't mean anything when it's mangled by a terrible compression algorithm). The clips try to be funny, via an endless barrage of 1970s TV parodies, but they wouldn't make you laugh even if you were on nitrous oxide.

The cast of unknowns and has-beens, including Timothy Bottoms and George "Worst James Bond Ever" Lazenby, provides a classic case study in overacting. It's simply horrible. The original musical score (co-written by Devo alumni Mark Mothersbaugh) is OK, but sounds as though it was written for a blue movie.

If nothing else, Fox Hunt proves why companies like Digital Pictures went bankrupt. Simply, players don't want to "play" cheesy movies from Spielberg-wannabe "designers." Game players want to play GAMES, and Fox Hunt is neither a movie nor a game.
I picked it up at a Gamestop years ago for $5, just for nostalga purposes, I used to play it as a kid. The only reason I'd think anyone would want it, if they never played it, is if you're a collector. This game didn't age well, so i don't imagine anyone actually wanting to play through it. Also the game takes up like 9 blocks of memory card space, so you'd have to devote an entire memory card to the game. And it's hard to say if it'll be worth more in the future, cause it's not really a "good" game. Honestly, I would pass.

With that said I actually thought the game was funny, but this was 10 years ago and I was 15 at the time. The main character used to be on Mad TV, I think he was on for only 1 season, but I see him every now and then in commercials. And it always makes me think of that crappy game. I'm not sure if Fox Hunt was good or bad for his career.

EDIT - I went to gamefaqs to see the reviews and some idiot gave it a 10/10.

I wish you would've mentioned this a week ago. There was a copy for like $2.99 at a local Gs I could've given to you. As for the game itself,......not so sweet.

Hmm... wonder if that's the same copy I saw at BuyBacks. I would have definitely bit on it at $3. :)

^I wouldn't' bother if it only goes for $3, seems like a huge loss paying $28 in my opinion.

Speaking of rarer PSone titles, please help me remember the name of this title.

It was similiar and based on the Advance Wars games being a war strategy game. I remember while looking on half.com for Advance Wars and it was a PSone game that was recommended at the bottom of the page, you know where they try to recommend other game of similar taste?

The problem is coming across a copy for $3. Fox Hunt is extremely difficult to just happen upon for $3.

Nectaris?
Hogs of War?
Tactics Ogre?

I guess if you really want the game $28 will be a good price since you won't likely find it at most GS/EBgames anymore.

Thanks Shipwreck, I think it was Nectaris: Military Madness! :)

The coverart on gamerankings for Netaris looks like what I was trying to remember, while I was looking at how much Dune 2000 was going for. Yikes this game is expensive on half.com, $45! I remember checking digitpress and it was pretty rare though.
