That's not Gamer's Gate though, that's either your bank or paypal doing something. It's pretty lame or random either way. Luckily I have not had that issue so far, but I know Skype started charging me a conversion fee suddenly one day. It was quite annoying too. In this case, it was Skype though, they changed the way they billed so that Paypal only recognized them as an international site so they charged conversion fees everytime.
I know Paypal gives you a warning if you pay through them by credit card that your bank may charge a fee, but I think that's just a generic cover their asses warning like an ATM stating that you may get charged an additional fee by your own bank.

I know if you pay directly through your bank account via Paypal you aren't supposed to get charged any of those fees and in fact Paypal point blank suggests doing that instead to avoid any fees when you go to select pay by credit card.
Heard back from GG support about Sacred 2 Gold

"I know that Sacred 2 Gold is not available in the Gamersgate US store but is available in the Gamersgate UK store. I was wondering if I buy the game from the UK store, will the game show up on my Gamersgate US account? Will I need to log into the Gamersgate UK site everytime I want to download Sacred 2 Gold or can I do it from my US account?

Also, any chance "A Vampyre Story" might get discounted in this Summer Sale? Thanks in advance! "
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"It will be available on your account on both sites actually. I dont see the game on discounts now, but they are updated each week - so maybe.

It's nice that they got back to you but that doesn't address the issue of them supposedly being out of working CD keys for the game.

*Edit: I noticed that "Gamersgate" marked the issue as solved with no comment. Does that mean it has working keys now?

Don't know if they have keys (assume that they did) but its a digital item and keys can be easily generated by the publisher . My backlog it so big that I can buy the game when its discounted and just wait for the keys. I think that GG is waiting for the publisher to give them a new stock of keys and since the GG had marked the issue solved, it probably means that a new "shipment" of keys are in stock. My main issue was whether or not the game will show up on my US account if I buy it since the game is technically not sold in the US.

So, I ordered Sacred 2: Gold Edition (UK) through the Gamersgate UK site.
And yes - once ordered, it WILL show on your GG account's Virtual Game Shelf, whether you're on their USA or UK site. ;)

It was $8.16 USD after the conversion (via PayPal).

They're out of FA keys (UK) and have requested more from publisher, as it says where the key is on your Virtual Game Shelf.
Though, I got a I&B key (UK). :)

I'm going to download both UK versions of the games; install both; and see if my (old) USA Securom Key will activate FA UK up. ;)
Hopefully, it thinks "a key is a key."

I'll report back, much later. This is going to be a LONG download (at least 46 min left for FA UK)...

You can download the games, even if you don't have the key.

To avoid Paypal/bank currency exchange fees:

- Login to your GG account on the US server (gamersgate.com).

- Buy Blue Coins under My Account using US funds (e.g. Paypal).

- Login to the UK GG server (gamersgate.co.uk).

- Buy the game and pay with Blue Coins.

For example:

Sacred 2 Gold Edition - £5.08 or 7899 Blue Coins

which translates to $7.90 USD.
Stupid bank dinged me for $3.00 currency conversion fee buying off Gamersgate through PayPal.. *sigh

I bought two games through Gamer's Gate, months apart, because of some great deals. Then I got dinged at the end of the month for, "SURPRISE! Sorry to hear about these. Did you try contacting GG? Technically they're not obligated to do anything but it's maybe worth a try to see what happens. seamoss posted a great tip for the future, if you're interested.

Thanks for the info, guys. I'll add this to the FAQ later when I have time and give credit where it's due. Appreciated. :applause:

Glad to hear. Though they don't always respond very quickly there's usually not any follow-up needed, which is nice.

As for today's deals...

Two Worlds II GOTY is really tempting. I don't think I've seen it this cheap before, but I'm not sure. I actually picked the strategy guide up for $5 shipped so it might be nice to have the game to go with it.

Alpha Protocol is a gem. I had a ton of fun playing it and nearly started playing through it a second time immediately after finishing. I still plan on doing so in the future. Yes, it released with a ton of bugs but I think they squashed most of them. The only one I encountered was enemies not respawning when reloading an older save (which was fixed by restarting the game or not being a pansy and reloading).

I believe it was that price at one point during the Steam summer sale and Steamprices.com seems to be backing that up. For those who really want it on Steam it will probably go that price again on the winter sale but otherwise I imagine this is the cheapest you will get it for some time, if not for good, and it's not a bad deal at all.

Alpha Protocol is a gem.

I agree but I kind of feel bad how cheap it's been put on sale at times. I grabbed it when it was $2 on Steam. I know it's a bit strange to complain about a sale but I almost feel like anything sub $5 for an AAA game is almost insultingly cheap to the game.

Yeah, I bought that today from GG (USA) in USD - since it's available in my country. ;)
I was missing the expansion, so I bought GOTY just to get that expansion.

To start the Pirates Expansion, you MUST Start a New Game and select Pirates gameplay.
You may Import your character from TW2 base game into Pirates, BTW. :D

Only thing about dealing w/ any TW2 Steam-versions - you'll have both Steam DRM and also Reality Pump's Crappy DRM to deal with.
I understand some people want to put all their games in one basket on Steam, but ewww @ double-DRM whammy. Reality Pump's Crappy DRM is enough.

Alpha Protocol is underrated and great.
I bought it for like $30 (Retail at Best Buy), not too long after release - and at that time, I was glad I did. Awesome underrated and under-appreciated game.
So glad they removed the crummy DRM, as well.

Bought Sacred 2. PayPal said 8.16. Awesome that I found the deal, so hard to keep track of so many bundles, sites, sales, etc. Super bummed when sacred 2 went off steam, but this is great. Even cheaper than steam ever had it. Hopefully it's fun, I'm excited to finally have it for cheap.

Didn't do blue coins as I could only buy 10$ worth which would end in wastes.

Does anyone know if anyone is hosting wanderlust group buys?

Awesome! :)

Keep in mind, Sacred 2 on GG UK is the Gold Edition, which was not released in USA.
Ice & Blood expansion is included in S2: Gold Edition.
Ice & Blood was not released in USA.

Sacred 2 on Steam was only base game, Sacred 2: Fallen Angel.
Sacred 2: Ice and Blood was not released in USA, thanks to CDV & Deep Silver never ironing the USA distribution matter out and especially with CDV going insolvent.

Also, we need both Sacred 2: Fallen Angel + Ice & Blood to run the Community Patches.

Wow! Even better! Thanks

Is this the lowest price Sacred 2 has been anywhere (not just Steam)? I'm tempted to get it, would be $5 after my blue coins and IGN discount.

On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness 1+2 are both for sale. Does anyone know if those include steam keys? Or the Sega Megadrive bundle?

Wow thanks for the Sacred 2 information, was totally in since it is no longer on Steam and you get the expansion. I was shocked to see the download size for the base game at 13 GB which is quite large for a game from 2008.

Can't speak on S2:FA alone, but this is the lowest I've ever seen the complete Sacred 2: Gold Edition.

Keep in mind, w/ Sacred 2: Gold you're ALSO getting the Ice & Blood expansion here.

I&B was NEVER released in the USA period, due to CDV and Deep Silver having distribution rights issus.

We're talking at least 10-20 hours of more content in the expansion.
Oh, and you can turn into a Dragon, if you are a Dragon Mage.

EDIT:
Actually, I think the original S2:FA game was around 20GB, if you had also installed the high-res texture pack for S2:FA.
That extra texture pack disc (DVD Disc 3) came w/ the S2:FA Collector's Edition [USA] (which, yes, is the old edition I have on disc).
I am not sure if that high-res texture pack was released as a download. Would have to look around and dig the Internet.

EDIT 2:
S2:FA alone is 19.4 GB w/ high-res texture pack installed.
Have yet to install FA patch 2.40 and then I&B.

Added Sacred 2 to the highlights in the OP. Sorry I waited till the last day but I didn't want to lead people in the wrong direction and have it not end up working.

I assume the reason why there's no hints for tomorrow is because it will be a new week. Get your wallets ready.

It gives me the option to buy in amounts as low as $1. In fact I just did it the other day to top off my amount for TQ.

Ooooh, another summer sale week? Wonder if it will be shooter week? That would be fun :)

Not sure if this is going to stay as a deal past this week, so I bit on Gothic II Gold for $2.49,
which with the IGN 15% discount and the 106 Blue Coins reward comes out to $2.00.
It's old but I never played it when it came out and for $2 it's a huge hardcore old-style RPG.
Didn't this first week start on Monday? Maybe tomorrow will be a repeat day or somethin.
True. Slipped my mind. GG usually starts a week of deals on a Monday. Then they'll have "Midweek" deals on like Friday. It's weird. Maybe they're finally fixing that now.

Yeah, this week the midweek was like 2K games. So maybe tommorow will be a recap? Sometimes they have random and multiple deals running at the same time too.

For those of you in the US buying Sacred 2 on the UK site - are you having to create a new account? I'd like to purchase on my existing (US) account for the blue coins bonus (or whatever they are called)....

Thanks

No problem.

Once you order a game from any GG, it'll show on your account's Virtual Game Shelf.
It does not matter what GG site you're surfing on (GG USA or UK) and no matter of where you bought it from (GG USA or UK).

Same goes if a game's say "gifted" to you over GG, as well.

Good to know.

BTW - you sold me on Sacred 2 Gold. ;)

If you like Diablo series, TQ series, and ARPG's - yes, Sacred 2 is definitely must-play stuff.
I thought S2:FA was really awesome & addictive as can be, back when I bought it, years back.

So glad I got my hands on S2: Gold and can finally check out I&B content and run the Com Patch.

You can grab the patches from Sacred Wiki's Download section.
A lot of other info on that site about Sacred games, as well.

Just, make sure you install everything right for Sacred 2: Gold UK.

Here's how I did the whole entire install:
1. Install Sacred 2: Fallen Angel UK base game (version 2.02).
2. OPTIONAL - If you have high-texture pack for S2: Fallen Angel, you can install that now.
3. Install S2: FA Patch 2.02 to 2.40 UK.
4. Install S2: FA Patch 2.40 to 2.43 UK.
5. Install Ice and Blood UK expansion pack (version 2.64).
6. Install Ice and Blood Patch 2.64.0.0 to 2.65.1.0 UK.
7. Install Ice and Blood Patch 2.65.1.0 to 2.65.2.0 UK.
8. OPTIONAL - Install Community Patch Version 1.30.
9. Boot up Sacred 2: Gold game for the first time.
10. Pop-up box wants you to input activation key for Sacred 2: Fallen Angel UK, so do so and then let it activate up.
11. After game boots, front screen might linger -- so Alt+Tab over to see another activation window has opened, so input Activation key for Sacred 2: Ice and Blood UK and let it activate up.
12. Enjoy the game.

You're very welcome. :)

I figured I'd make everybody's life easier here and list what order to do the whole long-winded install in, since I got it going and everything.
Especially since there was A LOT of patching and installing to do here.

One more question.. ok, maybe 2 more before I'm sold on Sacred 2. Are there any regional restrictions if I live in the US and get the UK version from GamersGate (as in, issues with using the keys in the US, or having access restricted in game)? Also, is there any chance it'll be a daily deal for their summer sale? I'm assuming no because it's not even on the non-UK store, but maybe it could be a UK exclusive daily?

I live in USA, by the way.

I have Sacred 2: Gold (UK) and it uses Securom DRM check.
Yes, it activated online fine and is running fine here.

Who knows. [shrug]

Keep in mind, this particular Gold Edition is a VERY-VERY hard find for USA gamers, in the first place.

Second off - 66% off is a pretty good price for this.
Probably is a good idea for them (Deep Silver and Gamersgate) to discount this, since Sacred World announcement is coming soon around the corner on August 7 from Deep Silver.

Also, let's take into account the amount of content this game packs.
I.e. XFire had me logged in at 49 hours w/ S2:FA (one run-through).
This was a while ago, long BEFORE that I even put the Gold Edition in - which supposedly packs another 10-20 hours+ worth of content with Ice & Blood installed.
Ok that sold it for me. I bought it, I'm blaming you if its on sale for 90% off tomorrow!
Sure, blame me if that insane-sale happens, why don't you... :(

I doubt that'll happen at 90% off.
I mean, they ran out of keys a few days for this and they had to request more from the publisher (Deep Silver), so the game at 66% off has to have been selling well...
If it's selling well at a certain price, why drop it down more?

I didn't even have a key for FA this morning, when I bought it.
Though, a little later in the early afternoon, I was supplied one. :)

That install order list gives me a headache. ;)

I still don't understand why Deep Silver doesn't obtain the US rights to S2 particularly if they are (I assume) going to release the 3rd game here.

Yeah, if there's anything nice about Steam - it keeps your game normally as much up-to-date as possible. Don't have to worry about having having tons of different patches and what order to install them, either.

I still don't understand why Deep Silver doesn't obtain the US rights to S2 particularly if they are (I assume) going to release the 3rd game here.
I don't know - maybe they (Deep Silver) are afraid to put CDV back into business by buying the USA distribution rights from them?
Who knows. [shrug]

Fixed the thread title.

Very doubtful it will go lower. You can always buy the game and not show the serial key or download it until you see it won't go lower. Then just buy lower and contact customer support for a refund. Probably won't happen but the option is there (and amazing).

See, I don't think Steam pulled it. CDV (USA distributor for Sacred 2 products) went insolvent, so I think it's possible Steam just ran out of (Securom-DRM supported) keys....and Steam can't get any more, since CDV is toast.

This is why I really want Deep Silver to somehow get the distribution USA rights to the entire Sacred 2 game. Deep Silver is selling in their territories the Sacred 2: Gold Edition, which contains Ice & Blood expansion - which was unreleased in USA b/c CDV & Deep Silver never came up w/ a USA distribution deal for Sacred 2: Ice & Blood and Sacred 2: Gold; and then CDV went insolvent; and plus Deep Silver owns the Sacred franchise now for making future Sacred products (such as the upcoming Sacred World).
Deep Silver's territories for distributing Sacred 2 products include UK, Portugal, Sweden, South Africa, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Spain & France). Plus, Deep Silver is doing well and is still in business - they published PB's Risen series & Dead Island.
