Just a heads up, I found out a little trick on GamersGate.

If you see a price you like during the sale, but can't decide on it yet, you can "lock in the price" by starting the payment process, but not paying. The order info will be sent to your email BEFORE you pay, and the link in that email will have the order page that you can go back to later and pay.

For example, I went to buy Front Mission Evolved, but wasn't sure, so I didn't pay yet. Now it's off sale, and I went back to the order confirmation email and clicked the link to finish the order, and I was still able to buy it for the sale.

Not sure if that helps anyone, but I thought it was interesting.
Really good tip for future sales. Thanks. Wonder how long you have to finish the payment process?

Ooh, that's interesting. Thanks! Might be informative to do that with something one sale now that you are ambivalent about just to see how long the lock stays valid.

GG seems to be loading the new week of sales, looks like adventure games... which reminded me I also missed out on Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island :(

I just noticed another zany simulator for Motoki! Hot Dog King $5 75% off ends midnight PDT.

Hot Dog King is a fast-paced strategy simulation with a fresh approach to fast food. You will set out to dominate the fast food industry city by city, using talented staff members in each franchise as your secret weapon to lure customers away from the competition. Play in your own style – start and develop your business using superior marketing techniques and great food, or build your empire quickly by employing the mob and using shady tactics against your competition.
Can you become the Hot Dog King, or will you be just another wiener?

A word about your franchise staff -
These women are your front-line troops in this corporate war and will be making all the difference, they are the ones who not only prepare and serve the food but also give the bright smiles, sway the hips, and show skin that will either make or break a business. These women hold no illusions about the seedy nature of the industry or what their job exactly entails, and they are willing to do just that. However they will also hold little reluctance to leave a business in their wake if they find no reason to stay, you will have to treat them with the utmost priority.

I love this screencap:
Can you provide more details about what you like about the game? I was going to get it but then the metacritic rating really scared me off.

I'd love to hear more details from you about Krater! :)
Sorry for the late response guys.

The easiest way for me to explain this game is by comparing it to others. So its a funny little loot based RPG like a Diablo or Torchlight but taking place in a post apocalyptic Sweden. Its got a cool art style that is a mix of Borderlands and Fallout. Its also got a pretty sweet soundtrack that reminds me of the first Mass Effect.

Its a competent dungeon crawler complete with classes and colored loot. The only other game of this type I played extensively was Torchlight and that game did a good job of making want to keep grinding and getting loot. Krater doesn't really do this as well. It can get a little grindy without really rewarding you properly for it. I think the reviews were harsh for that reason, and the fact that it doesn't really do anything new or impressive gameplay wise.

Still, I think the atmosphere is pretty neat, the characters are funny and endearing, and also the game looks pretty slick so I thought it was a worthwhile experience. I definitely recommend watching some videos of it if you're on the fence (especially the Giant Bomb quicklook). You'll be able to tell if its your jam pretty quick.

Also a note if you're thinking about picking it up, the game is a work in progress. Its got a steady stream of patches (last I checked anyway, haven't played for a couple weeks). They also promised MP which should be neat.

Might be worthwhile for a couple people to "order" a game on sale right now and see how long the lock lasts. It may not be the same every time, but if a few people do it, we might be able to get a good estimate of how long it lasts.

EDIT: Just started an order on Krater, so we'll see how long it lasts.

My haul:

 • Gothic II Gold Edition
 • The Guild Complete Collection (Guild Gold / Guild II)
 • Hamilton's Great Adventure: Retro Fever
 • Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands
 • Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island
 • Ugly Prince Duckling
Would have been more but my backlog is killing me (and also not many great deals on the games I really wanted...)
GG seems to be loading the new week of sales, looks like adventure games... which reminded me I also missed out on Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island :(
Got Vooju, now looking at Ceville, Mata Hari, and possibly the Runaway's that I haven't played - hopefully more adventures will be added to the sale tonight.
Thanks for the info.

BTW - how long/short is this game?
No idea really. I'm only a few hours into it. A friend of mine has 8 or 9 hours on it and still has a ways to go. I've seen several people online say they got bored around hour 10 so I'm assuming its double digits at least. After that I don't know.

I just did this for Krater too. I even got an achievement for ordering in the last hour of a sale.

Oh well, Thanks Gamersgate for the month of deal watching!

I'm terrible, just terrible at not spending too much. ;)

I only bought Sacred 2 Gold and now I feel like I should have bought more after seeing everyone else's list. Damn you all for giving me cheap game envy.

P.S. I probably won't regret my lack of purchases some day in a galaxy far, far away, but I still feel something is wrong with the CAG-Force in me. Screw midichlorians; I have all 'dem currencies circulating within my bloodstream.

My key for The Precursors showed-up today.
So, for all y'all that bought it and been waiting for keys...CHECK your game account and game shelf for Precursors serial key!

Also, what's up w/ the game only giving us 2 activations allowed?
I don't even know if there are allowed revokes...

They really need to ditch this DRM sometime, on this SP-based game....especially when it gets old. Well, which, you know, it kinda IS old, by now...
Adventure games are on sale right now.

Best deal I'm seeing it The Whispered World for $3.74. Cheapest it's been elsewhere is $5.
Yeah, that's been the sale since Sunday, but I think amazon had The Whispered World for $2.99 a few months back. Weekend sale is Supreme Commander so here's hoping next week's sale will be more enticing.

By calclif @Gamersgate

why don't you parasite tutor campers get a real job, instead of working for gamersgate then you wouldn't be cralling around in every tutor question looking for your next blue coin meal

Capture.jpg

The quote in my reply was something that I copy/pasted from HIS user profile at GG.

Another gametutor answered , another PM by this guy. Its actually making visits at GG more interesting now. Wondering how mad I can get this guy over blue coins. :D

EDIT: Seems that I got him riled up a bit. :)

I'm regretting not getting Krater: Shadows of Solside - Collector's Ed for $10 during the GG sale.
Hopefully, it goes on sale on GG or Steam again soon at that price...or cheaper.

How many days until the Steam Winter Sale?, Krater looks promising and I hope it goes to around $5-7 in a sale soon

BTW: Anyone with some time should head to the GG gametutor forum this calcif and I are going at it a bit and it's quite entertaining
How many days until the Steam Winter Sale?
Yeah, good point...

...But Krater might be one of those games...I might want to play ASAP.
I've been playing too many shooters of late.

Those are some pretty good niche titles, which is what I use Gamersgate for primarily anyways. Tiny and Big is probably the most well known, pretty amusing game.
So basically don't buy until the last week? What's a maximize slot? Is it for void?
Yeah, the maximized slot is for void. It's a combination these:
Empowered slots

Gives you an extra slot for a game from the same publisher.

Quickened slots

This upgrade reduces the slots cooldown 1 day for every 1 000 Blue Coins spent - up to a maximum of 10 000 Blue Coins.
It does seem best to wait until the last week to buy the bundle. BTW, it launches on monday. Seems like the "unconfirmed" list of games that I originally posted may not be all that accurate (the tweet included 26 games, while the bundle supposedly only has 15).

I hope they add new games to Void soon (including some indie games). I was part of the beta so I've pretty much played all the games that I want to play. I wonder if they're actually making money out of the ads...

I've been waiting for a deal on Tiny and Big... Any of the other games worth it? These wouldn't unlock on Steam, I imagine.

The Ludocraft site linked above has been down for hours. I'm not sure if the bundle went live and they had too much traffic or if there is some other problem. I don't see any mention of the bundle at Gamersgate's site.

Many of these have Linux ports - not that it'll ever happen, but I wish they'd either offer Linux downloads or at least keys...
Thanks for the info. Hmmm, wasn't 3079 in the IR Alpha Bundle? Passed on it then, but I wonder if that's one they will likely bring back?
Several of these, including 3079, Will Fight for Food, Cardinal Quest, Hacker Evolution Duality, Girl with a Heart of, and at least one of the Decklin's Domain RPGs (unclear which) have been in various bundles before.
Ooh, lots of games I've looked at often but never seriously considered buying. Anyone have any picks?
Great price for some pretty good-looking old-school RPGs, Devil Whiskey and Demise, along with Telepath RPG (on the fence about this one). I was also intrigued by the descriptions of A Sirius Game and Girl with a Heart of. I think Sweden's getting some of my money. . . .

I'm personally unclear about why they're running this contest starting in two weeks. What incentive do you have to pick up a bundle early if you might be able to get those games cheaper by waiting until after the contest closes?

Yeah, I have WFFF, Cardinal Quest, Hacker from other bundles. Missed out on the Girl With a Heart of and 3079 bundles though. Fixed the 3079 problem, but Girl with a Heart of still looks intriguing, but yes there is no incentive not to wait until the third week unless you just really need to play some games.

Interesting lineup... Air Buccaneers looks worth it for the price it usually is at, while games like Telepath RPG and DEMISE are like... what? Those games actually sell for around $30?

Project Black Sun looks amusing, but it's usually $1.99. Seems like a waste.

I will continue to dig through this pile of games... It's a bit overwhelming. >.>
