They sell at that price because they're niche products that generally only sell to a dedicated fan base. It's actually pretty prevelant among indie RPGs particularly ones aping older games. Strategy games and Point and Click Adventure games as well. It's started to fade away, like how you can find Spiderweb Software's game for super cheap these days.

Grabbed the smallest bundle size with Demise Ascension, Dark Survivor, and Devil Whiskey. The two Decklin's Domain games likely won't end up on Steam, and even though Dark Survivor's on Greenlight it's not doing terribly well at 0%, and I'm interested in all three so what the hell.

Really pumped for Demise Ascension though.

Edit: Son of a bitch, Gamersgate tells me they're out of Demise Ascension keys after I ordered. Main reason I bought the bundle and now I can't play. Damn you Gamersgate!

Wow. I was going to get this. Did they say if they were going to get more?

IIRC, Demise Ascension had some horribly stupid way of activating the game. Not sure if that got changed. That alone would put me off from buying it lol
Wow. I was going to get this. Did they say if they were going to get more?
Nope, the message from Gamersgate is just a canned "We're out of keys message" as follows.
Edit: Whoops, you said "If", not "When". I guess that nope should be a yep.

Unfortunately, we are out of serial keys. The developers have been contacted and we will supply keys as soon as they are delivered to us. We apologize for the inconvenience. [2]

I tried downloading and installing Demise anyway, thinking maybe the key was only needed for multiplayer, but nope it's required to install. Strangely enough during the installer it specifically mentions sending their support (Decklin's Demise) an email if you don't have a key. I normally would've waited for Gamersgate to make good on the order, but since the installer specifically mentioned that I sent an email over to Decklin's telling them what happened and with a screenshot of my Gamersgate receipt.
I'll throw a post in this thread when it gets resolved one way or another. Just kinda bummed out I'm not crawling dungeons tonight.

Dark Scavenger is pretty amusing. It's sort of a hybrid between an old school turn based RPG and a bit of point and click adventure. Good sense of humour. Each little area you investigate tends to have one mandatory encounter, usually solved by fighting, but some can be worked around, and also has a few things to investigate which can lead to more fights or items. When you transition areas, you're taken back up to your spaceship so your crewmates can craft the loot into items. One guy does weapons, one items, and one finds you allies. You'll generally get 2 loot items per area, and you can only use each crafter once per area, so you can't stalk up on 100 weapons for example. Each item has a limited amount of uses. So you're constantly making choices about your arsenal and constantly getting a load of new toys to play with.

You'll use items mainly in battle, and the battle system is fairly simple turn based stuff, elemental or attack type weaknesses, etc. There are a TON of items in the game so you'll have a lot of fun combos pretty early on from summoning a vicious poodle to heat rays. The adventure game aspects also use the items. If you for instance, fall into a pit you can quickly save yourself by using a Sharp weapon to stick into the dirt and hang from it. Try the same action but use say, a gun and you'll find yourself falling into the pit. So it's all about managing your inventory of weapons, allies, and items so you don't run out. The game is broken into chapters though, which recharge all of your items to full (even if you used it all up) so you're pretty free to expirement as chapters aren't too long.

It's pretty simply but the constant feeding of new loot to turn into new stuff makes it fairly addicting, and the humor and general oddball story helps in that regard too.

I picked up the 9 game bundle with Tiny & Big, Star Prospector, Project Black Sun, Telepath RPG, Sentinel 3, Oribitron Revolution, A Sirius Game, Will Fight For Food, and Zombie Football Carnage. I've got my eye on a couple of others, but none have reviews, so I'm hoping people will buy them during this promotion and post some reviews.

Review functionality has been pretty spotty since the 1c pack abusers ran it into the ground, so people might just not be reviewing much these days.
You can't really post reviews on Gamersgate anymore, that functionality was disabled thanks to the 1c pack abusers.
What? I posted a couple reviews that were accepted about 2 days ago..

EDIT: Ah, nevermind.. you edited your post lol.

Update on Demise Ascension, got an email today from Decklin's Demise support with a "Promo key" which let me install the game and register on their webpage, which also gave me the actual key the game uses.
Gamersgate is still saying they're out of keys, but it almost seemed like Decklin's was used to Gamersgate not having keys, so I'm not sure if everyone who buys the game has to contact their support and Gamersgate is selling the game without keys or what.

Whatever the case, they were pretty quick about supplying a key.

Finally bit on:

3079 (Fallout + MineCraft? I'm not expecting much, but it looks like mindless fun.)
Air Buccaneers HD (Probably the biggest no-brainer of the bunch.)
Black Market (I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but I love this genre.)
DEMISE: Ascension (I'm not sure I'm hardcore enough for it, but it's hard to pass up.)
Telepath RPG (Voiceovers and hand drawn watercolor maps? I judged this one too quickly.)
Devil Whiskey (Looking forward to a nice, updated Bard's Tale clone.)

I sort of wish the discount for buying bigger bundles was a little better (like the Groupees Build-a-Bundle), seeing as in the 3-game pack you're getting each game for $1.33, 6-pack $1.17 each, 9-pack $1.00 each. Would also have been nice if there were custom sized bundles, since if you want that "one more game" you are forced to buy another two that you may not even want.

Still, it's an interesting selection... Looking forward to trying these out! :)

EDIT: Funny enough, the 6-pack ends up actually costing $7.02. Now I'm just sending in an email to Decklin's Domain to get my DEMISE key, and downloading the 3079 installer in the meantime (oddly enough, it doesn't come with a normal download link, but instead there's a link in the "Extras" tab that says "Installer for PC and Mac).

GamersGate seems to be down for me now.

I'm confused; you guys didn't get DEMISE keys?

My page says I have a DEMISE key but I don't have a Devil Whiskey key.

For what it's worth, I'm pretty sure Devil Whiskey is more hardcore than Demise Ascension. Demise Ascension definitely isn't afraid to kill you though, and it has a lot of interesting and fairly unique systems such as character aging (If you hit your age limit, that charcter's dead for good) and your dungeon is shared among all your characters so if you have a character die and know you can reach his body with another, you can run over there, carry the character out of the dungeon, and have him revived. If you can't manually drag a dead PC out you can wait and get auto-retrieved by NPCs which generally takes a good chunk of time. I had my party of 2 wipe on the second dungeon floor and it took 8 weeks to get revived.

If you've got the time and inclination these videos are pretty handy to get started on Demise. The hour and 40 minute video is fan made, the shorter one is an official intro from Decklin's Demise.

Played a couple hours so far and I haven't even finished mapping the first dungeon floor. The game's pretty huge.

I didn't, no. If I go to Demise on my Gamersgate list it says "Unused serial keys" and if I click "Show serial key" I get the message saying they're out.
Under Devil Whiskey I don't see any mention of a key anywhere. I haven't downloaded and tried installing yet to see if it actually needs one though.

Could be you ordered earlier in the day while they still had Demise keys, whereas I (And I guess Idiotekque) ordered later.

No, that's what happened to me too; I just checked and I got the same message (because the listing says "unused serial keys" I took for granted one was there). Did Decklin's Demise send you a key for Devil Whiskey too or does it not require a key?

I went ahead and ordered today because an earlier poster had said something about not getting a DW key and I wanted to have an order in for when the dev sent GG a new batch of keys(!).

As far as I can tell Devil Whiskey doesn't need a key. Though as I mentioned I haven't tried installing yet to confirm that. Seems possible it might not have a key since it doesn't have multiplayer, whereas Demise does.

It doesn't look like Devil Whiskey needs a key or even has one... The page says it's DRM-free, there's no key in my inventory, and there doesn't seem to be anything about an activation procedure on the website for it.

Pretty sure it's simple, DRM-free. Can't be positive though, I'm downloading it now.

EDIT: Damn ninjas. ;)

Does anyone have any idea when the "All Games" pack mentioned on the Air Buccaneers (Ludocraft) web site might be available and how much it might cost?

There's really only 8 or 9 games I'm very interested in, but if the whole pack is available for not much more than $9 I might end up holding out.

Thanks!

I was wondering the same thing. In the leaked info they said there would be an option to buy them all but that doesn't seem to be the case :(

Same I was wonder too and that is why I didn't buy anything the first couple hours it went live. Oh well.
According to this news entry by the AirBucaneers devs, the option to buy all of the games won't give any real savings. They say that it will cost 24 euros, which probably means a $25 price tag for U.S. customers.

Haven't found any info on why the option hasn't been added yet though. Maybe technical difficulties?
Thanks for the info. I guess that's intended to be a way to support all of the developers easily because buying the 9 game pack is cheaper per game.

This already had to have been asked but I have been following so many threads/bundles I've lost track:

Are all these DRM-free or are there Desura/Steam keys among them?

I'm not sure if they're all DRM-free, I know that many of them are though. None of them come with Desura/Steam keys.

So the $20 entire pack is live and the voting for the top 3 pack starts in two days.

Does anyone know if the Championship Top 3 bundle will go live prior to the build a bundle ending? Or will it be offered only after this one ends?

Interested in some games that probably won't be top three so I want to be sure I am able to buy those and the top three bundle too since I want the extra void slot.

I noticed a normal GG price that beats the Steam Daily! X-Blades.

I enjoyed Blades of Time ($10, steam summer sale). I want to pickup X-Blades for $5 or less. X-Blades seems to have a 3-activation limit (the same topware DRM goodness as TwoWorlds). Apart from the Steam Daily, GamersGate has X-Blades for $4.95 ($4.20 w/IGN) and boasts a key replacement policy similar to Amazon. It was in a $15 Amazon bundle recently wasn't that compelling beyond X-Blades and TwoWorlds (which can be had at $5 each).

There's no official information on when the championship bundle will go live, but I suspect it will be between the date of the start of voting (tomorrow) and the date the bundle expires (10/1). It just depends on how long GG keeps the vote open. I doubt they would sell it after IF3 closes, though.

I was tempted to wait on the championship bundle but the void slot's not worth the hassle with my bank, so. . . .

You've never bought anything from GG? I use paypal and never had a problem with them.

Also, this weekend Prince of Persia sale, all games $2.49 each, cept for the collector's edition of one of them and that is $4.99.

Resident Evil for $9.99 over the weekend... It's on sale everywhere right now. Kinda waiting for Steam to follow the trend.

(Remember that if you're unsure of a GamersGate sale, you can start the checkout process and then back out once you hit the PayPal screen. The order should remain for a couple weeks, so you can still pay at the sale price AFTER the sale is over. All you have to do is find your order notification email and click the link to the order page to finish your transaction.)
Has anyone figured out how to vote for this Indiefort? I can't see any links?
I thought it was going to be by how much each title was chosen within the bundle, but there is also a poll on their facebook page.

lol there's 3 seperate polls. The way GamersGate made the polls is very sad. 3 seperate polls, no advertising for the polls, and Tiny and Big isn't even in the top 3. They should've just put a poll on the main GamersGate store page. This is by far the worst method of setting up a poll that I've ever seen.

I don't know how to link the polls. It's on their facebook page, scroll down until you see all 3 of the polls.

EDIT: Nevermind, figured out how to link them:

I'm assuming they were split up due to facebook restrictions. I don't know what clown decided to post them on facebook and not the main site without any advertising, but it was obviously a very bad decision.

Thanks. I was afraid they'd use Facebook votes where most people wouldn't see the polls instead of actually putting it on their site or doing something logical like basing it on sales.

The top voted game only has 40 votes right now and the vast majority have under 10 votes!

The Ultimate Pack is now up. Includes Tiny & Big, Star Prospector, and Dark Scavenger. Kinda wish Dark Scavenger wasn't included, but it's not a bad bundle overall.

AP surely is an underrated gem.

Looks like Skyrim is below $30 if you have the IGN discount plus the ~1500 BlueCoins reward (and it's Steamworks, obviously).

They are not as good as the summer sale, but Morrowind and Obvlivion GOTY are cheaper at GG after IGN discount.

If you are looking for Skyrim PC (base game) and you live in the USA, go call your local Toys R Us and see if they have it.
It's $10, if they do - since they're dumping out A LOT of PC games the last few days.
Also - see this thread.

No Tower Wars in this sale? I bought that a few weeks ago with blue coins and its surprisingly a really good multiplayer tower defense. Also probably the best looking tower defense, that I have played anyway. More people need to play that game.
