CAGiversary!
ALL INFO AND DEALS FOR GAMERUSH (pm/post with any suggestions)

If your in the Oklahoma City area stop by my store at Nw 50th and MacArthur (for now). If your a flipper/scammer at least spare my store the crap titles unless its for presales...thanks. If your good I may hook up with with a special "modification" to a current deal that you may greatly enjoy...

Please note in the next few weeks I will be changing stores to Hefner and Rockwell. They needed the help and while I like my store the pay raise was justifiable and my current sm is moving to pittsburg.

Current Deals

Trade 3 games get an extra $5 per game (LAST DAY IS MAY 16!)

Beginning March 15th till May 23rd, trade 3 games get an extra $5 per game. PSP, NDS, GBA, Xbox, Gcube, and PS2 only. No sports games before '04 and no Freestyle Street Soccer, or minigames/demo discs (the usuals). Also be aware some titles that sell for $4.99 may not work either (Haven, Project Eden, etc.) So don't get upset when they don't.

You may be limited to 10 per day though YMMV.

Trade 2 games and get New Releases and Pre-Orders for $29.99 til September 5th (subject to change)

Should go till September 5th. New releases and Preorder games only $29.99 with 2 game trades (see exclusions above or aka the usual).

Buy 1 get 1 50% til close of business May 16

This works on all preowned games including retro/n64. If any employee disagrees they can call my store at 1-700-22-40049 (not many people know about it but it calls the store in the company by the last 5 digits store code).

Buy 1 Preowned game get another 1 for 50% off. Takes off lowest priced title so separate and make sure employee scans your groups and barcode seperate.
Price and selection will vary by location and quantities are limited. Offer not valid on previously rented movies, sale items or in conjunction with any other discount or offer. Discount taken at register and will be applied towards lowest price games(s). Customer responsible for applicable taxes. Limit 2 per title per customer per day. Maximum of 20 Pre-owned games per customer per day.

1 out = $14.99 the first month....$19.99 thereafter
2 out= $24.99 the first month...$29.99 thereafter

You must have a credit card/check card to signup. Checkcard must be visa, mc, amex, dc, or diners club. You can also do it by getting a prepaid visa, mc, dc or amex card with at least $1 on it so it will clear the authorization and just pay for it each month (very tedious though). You can cancel at any time. Good on any rental game (gamecube, psp, nds, gba, xbox, ps2).

$0.99 Retro Games

All Dreamcast, Snes, Genesis, and Nes games are $0.99. Games available depend on which store you go to. Games may not be marked as $0.99, but they will ring up that price. Trade in value of all games on these systems is now $0.25.

OTHER INFO

They also have coupons in magazines for great deals, so be sure to check EGM, GamePro, and several other magazines.

GameRush is starting to expand, so check the store locator every once in awhile to see if one is coming to an area near you.

All BlockBuster's should now accept trades, so the trade in prices for BB and GR should be similar, but normal BBs will not always have the deals that GameRush has.

GameRush accepts game trades without case and instructions and the games can be in poor condition depending on the employee.

You must have a BB account and sign a trade agreement to trade at GameRush.

Please be careful if you scam GameRush (by flipping games) they do have the abillity to ban you from all GameRush locations if they want to (and as I have done but that was only because I was tired of crap PS1...).

Release dates - Go by the shipping date. 9 times out of 10 it is not what the Blockbuster computer says. The computer date is when traditional stores can expect to receive their rental games.

Game Rush receives games typically on Tuesday and Wednesday of the games release. Only reason EB and Gamestop get them a day before is because they get special shipments or their dm picks the games up and brings back that evening (or they are near distribution centers).

Some games have street dates but this is few and far between (outrun 2, halo 2, star wars episode 3, doom 3 are it in the past 6 months).

HAHAHAHAA! XBOX 360 here I come! Flip, Flip, Flippy!

Before you guys jump down my throat, I have friends who are Managers at Gamerush and I have their cooperation. I haven't paid for anything game related since Gamerush opened, it's all been credit!
Corey, do you have any specific info on what these coupons are?
I can but it probably won't be till Saturday. I looked at it today but I can't remember a single one.

oh god,

5 for $25, trade 3 get one for $5, and trade two get new for $30 all at the same time?

and does the buy one get one @ 50% still apply?

This is going to be madness. Its a damn good thing I just got a job today.

Even better: apparently it's getting replaced by buy two, get one free

I hadn't even thought about trading in games from the 5 for $25 towards the others. Wow. Good way to pad out the deal and get the games I want cheap plus have trading material. Best to have my friend trade in what I grab though just incase.

the deals will be epic. if my gamerush lets me double dip (probably will), i will make $200 easy, and be an owner of 2 next gen systems

what kind of double-dipping are you talking about? i'm pretty sure its going to be stated in our MAP that we can't combine offers, but i just want to know what kind of double-dipping you are thinking of?

$200? I made close to $2000 with the double-dip. This was with the "Trade 3 get a used game for $10" they had a while back.

with the current deals, in the fine print it says only 1 deal per transaction. my GR employees are really cool. they might not let me double dip, but i think they will

its easy to make $2000, but it takes a bunch of time. i will probably buy some cheap games and trade them in once or twice a month. ill have enough for a ps3 after this deal if my GR lets me double dip.

It did take me a while to make $2000. I think you and I have the same strategy (which we don't need to go into detail here) that involves Gamerush employess and double dipping in the same transaction.

dont really think im on the same page as you, but ill just assume that we are. on a good trip, i will save $80 on games with spending around $40. with the 2 new deals, i can make around 60-70 in a transaction

I can usually make $80-$90 in one trip while spending $10-$20. I guess it depends on how cool you are with the GR employees and how desperate the store is for trades (since they all compete with each other).

damn. i gotta give you props for that. thats easy money right there.

Yeah, hate to be the person to rain on your parades...but flipping is a big no-no, i've had several peoples account closed due to it. (Blockbuster higher-ups frown on it as well)

I'm not a hard ass or anything, but it pisses me off when people try to "fight the system" and get more then what is due to them.

Sorry, but dont come into my store and expect any deals out of me....i'm doing anything to risk my job for anyone.

Desperate for trades? My GR is overflowing with used titles. It seems they have way too many and don't know what to do with them. Wouldn't surprise me if they suspended all trade-ins for a while! Where does the "desperate" come from? Of course I live in an area with only one GR so it doesn't compete with any other GR (just a nearby Gamecrazy and the usual assortment of lame-ass EB's and GS's that give a fraction of the value GR gives).

I'm still curious as to how being cool with the GR employees helps you (and how them being desperate for trades helps)? Some stores allowed double-dipping with the current deals, regardless of how "cool" you were, and some didn't, regardless of how "cool" you were with them. I suppose there might be some stores that allowed only "special" (define that how you want :D) customers to do so.

By double-dipping I mean get the extra $5 bonus and also be able to preorder or buy new games for $29.99. Basically I made out much like spin03. Let's take one example - spend about $40 on 4 new games at Target or TRU or Fry's or whatever that trade in for $20 each with the bonus (some like Echo Night were better, many were worse). Get $80 credit, and spend $60 on two new games that cost $50 each normally. So, you end up with 2 new games and $20 credit left over - or if you want to consider the overall savings, you got $100 worth of games with $20 left over - so turned $40 into $120. Though I don't really think of it that way because I would never have bought the games for the full $50 anyway (usually can find them from $35 - $42 at Fry's, BB, CC, etc). So maybe considering the games as worth $40 you get $100 from $40 - about what spin03 said.

Now, you seem to be hinting at some other way to build up credit besides that. And I'm sure I speak for many of us when I say I'm very curious and would like to know what the deal is (not to copy you, just to know!).

And spin03, how can you make 60-70 with the 2 new deals per transaction? I'm just not seeing it... If all of this involves multiple GR's then I'm not used to thinking in those terms and that's why I don't get it (like you buy 5 for $25 from one store, trade them into another store to get more expensive PO games for $5, trade those back to the first store, etc).

first off, i dont do any deals with employees.

second off, if blockbuster allows it, why shouldnt i be able to do it. i never trade more than 2 of the same game per day. if i buy the games, i will keep them for a few days and play them, then trade them. if blockbuster corporate had a big problem with these deals, they shouldnt do them. if i find a way to exploit the deal without breaking the trade agreement, then there is nothing wrong with it.

Yeah, I guess the definition of "flipping" is open to debate a bit anyway. I mean, if you play a game for a few days (say you even beat it) is that really flippng to trade it back in? I've never done this simply because I don't ever play anything just for that short a time and my kids will usually want to keep playing it anyway even if we do beat it. However, I did trade back a NDS Ashpalt Urban GT that I got in a buy 2 get 1 deal (got 3 DS games for my then new DS). I didn't touch it for about a week, then played it a few times and really didn't like it. So I traded it back in while the $5 bonus was still in effect - it was about 3 weeks after I bought it. Is that flipping? I dunno... BTW, I still haven't played the Urbz game I also got at the same time - saving that for a long trip...

The one clear-cut no-no (and maybe what MegoW64 meant by not risking his job) would be to buy those cheap games and then TURN RIGHT AROUND with the same employee and trade them in. Obviously that is bad, and would require the cooperation (and risk of job loss) by the employee. But I don't think anyone here is talking about that, are they?

When I was in GR the other night around 10pm some young kid (re: late teens to early 20's - I really can't tell anymore) came in and the girl there kind of stayed off to the side and let the guy deal with him. He told him his trading account had been suspended due to abuse. I'd really like to know what happened with that - should have asked but they (the 2 BB employees) were talking in hushed tones about it to each other and I didn't want to be nosy - she said something about being glad she wasn't there alone).

While I understand where the 'flippers' are coming from, I just don't have the energy or the time to be driving around town trading in games for a mound of credit. I'm glad the new trade deal is on it's way, but I wish it would start juuust a little sooner. seeing that I'll be at E3 when the sale starts (Oddworld Stranger & Devil May Cry 3 are mine when I get back though!) :)

The thing is, I never devoted any time to flipping. I would only do it on my way to work/school and on my way back from work/school. I wouldn't just leave the house for the purpose of flipping and I still made a boatload of credit. If someone truly dedicates themself to this, then the sky's the limit.

Oh, and one more thing - could you give any details as to the specific offenses of those whose accounts where closed? As kaji7p56 says, I figured most flipping would occur between different stores. Were they caught doing that, or just at the same store? Were they dumbasses about it, or did you guys monitor very carefully to catch people? There's probably some interesting stores there and it might also be educational and serve as a warning to all of us reading this thread.

I would also like to hear that story. The only way I could be caught (not that I'm doing anything illegal, mind you) is if I specifically tell a store manager what I'm doing and at what locations I frequent. Even then I doubt they could do anything.

I suppose this is a key point here -- I know that I've been able to do things like trade in 10-20 copies of things like Echo Night or SD Gundam by doing 100+ miles of driving in a day and stopping at over a dozen different gamerush stores. That may not fit within most people's definitions of a "shopping trip", though.

I had my first strike-out at Gamerush yesterday. I had some hardware to trade in.

PS2 USB headset? - Won't take it.
GBA Wormlight? - Won't take it.
PSOne LCD Screen (Sony) - Won't take it

I was devestated. I would have taken a penny for the first two items, don't really care about those, but I felt sure they'd take the PSOne screen. I bought one during the TRU rush to use with other systems but I've decided it pretty much sucks.

Any ideas for the screen and headset? I figure I'll just take the wormlight to Goodwill.
I would also like to hear that story. The only way I could be caught (not that I'm doing anything illegal, mind you) is if I specifically tell a store manager what I'm doing and at what locations I frequent. Even then I doubt they could do anything.
You be surpised, some of the stores are starting to call each other to break the flipping cycle and compare notes, BB is not dumb and is starting to catch on to the scams

from a GR employee...there are numbers of ways to check if people are flipping. so those of you who think that if you do it at different locations...you are wrong. many times if an account is on hold or closed we can call that other store to see what is up with that account. just trust me...there are ways to find out who is flipping. i would suggest not to do it to a point where it is really noticeable that you are flipping.

Are Gamerush stores getting Cold Winter in? I was looking for one to buy last night but they said they'd only gotten one rental copy in, none for sale. Is this the case for every GR?

I also use diffrent accounts (friends/relatives/girfriends) and I never trade the games I bought back into the same account I bought them from.

if my GR lets me double dip, ill be getting halo 2. sold the game a few months back, but since there are new maps out/coming out, and the patch really did make the game more balanced, ill be rebuying it. i am going to trade RE4, viewtiful joe, hotshots golf fore, and a cheapie.

I preordered mine and it was the only copy in for sale
I suppose this is a key point here -- I know that I've been able to do things like trade in 10-20 copies of things like Echo Night or SD Gundam by doing 100+ miles of driving in a day and stopping at over a dozen different gamerush stores. That may not fit within most people's definitions of a "shopping trip", though.
Wow, I wish I had a DOZEN GR's within my area... I guess I should be happy with the one, though, since many have none :D. With a dozen GR's I'd be able to find things like Lego Star Wars for GBA, which my GR got ONE of and someone else snagged it. The selection availability alone would be awesome, let alone being able to spread trades around (edit: just to be nice to the GR's if I get multiple copies of a game elsewhere, NOT to use for flipping between GR's!).

attn. Midwest CAGs,

Meijer has KOF: Maximum Impact PS2 back in stock at $10 and Blockbuster still gives $25 credit before any bonuses for it. I have no idea if the trade value will drop sunday or not. I personally didn't feel like taking the risk of waiting and traded in a pair today, though if the trade value doesn't move this will be close to a unbeatable deal come tuesday.

Also a employee mentioned something about how I got more credit than another guy because my copies were complete. I don't know if this is real or not but you should probably use the UPC on the outer box.

My only stance on this is that I will not let this happen at my store. I do have access to a district wide voicemail and was responsible for the massive list in our district last time. Hate to be like that but I do like this Game Rush and would like it to stay that way.

Also last time I did hide all the expensive titles when I came into work and they were on an ask only basis. Just as I do with theives I will do with "flippers".

I just find it annoying when I have normal everyday people like for a game and we don't have it because someone thought it would be cute to get an x360 by taking advantage of the system.

Yes Blockbuster does have it set up this way and of course theres the the if they didn't want it the shouldn't have had the deal.

Well, Currently blockbuster does not have the technical means to block this flipping with out extensive coding of their pos. Yet they still do the deal. Should be happy for that but I guess everyone would rather Game Rush be gone and let GameStop rule the US and drives prices up and trade in values down.

(I shop frequently at all stores as I find company loyalty to be retarded, even when you work for them as you can almost always find something better anywhere and no matter how good a business as you'll get screwed by them at least once, whether it be pickles on your no pickle burger or your tape is not rewound or whatever trivial silly thing it is)

I'm glad to hear that. Sometime the selfishness and sense of entitlement people pick up through these threads gets a little vexing. I think you're more than entitled to take steps against it (especially with all of the latitude the trade agreement gives you). People may want cheap games, but you have to be concerned about protecting your margins and keeping your job.
Not to mention that flipping and glutting stores with eb reduction trade-ins usually leads to a lackluster inventory, and thus a loss of sales.

Also last time I did hide all the expensive titles when I came into work and they were on an ask only basis. Just as I do with theives I will do with "flippers".

Seems more than reasonable. Not only that, it should keep your frequent customers happy. They won't have to drive across town to find the other gamerush the flippers dumped it off at.

I just find it annoying when I have normal everyday people like for a game and we don't have it because someone thought it would be cute to get an x360 by taking advantage of the system.

I couldn't agree with you more. More power to you for taking a few agressive, though not too agressive stances.

Yes Blockbuster does have it set up this way and of course theres the the if they didn't want it the shouldn't have had the deal.

The good thing is that some of your policies allow you a little wiggle room to try to protect the viability of your store.

Just because it's legal doesn't make it right. :)
Had to throw in a cliche eventually :)

so you are saying you wouldnt let a customer buy a game unless he asked for it. that does not seam right, and if i buy the games they are mine correct, and if i decide to sell them thats my buisness correct.

on a side note for corycube if your account is suspended do you get the money for your preorders or can you still pick them up

Man Cory, I feel sorry for you a bit. After all the wonderful help you've given this community you basically have to watch people bragging about seriously screwing over the corporation you work for beyond the point of just getting a good deal.

I mean when I first found this board I tried the flipping thing, and what not and have basically decided that it just isn't worth it to me.

Perhaps if the discussion of flipping techniques should become sort of like how hoarding is handled on this board, if you do it you don't brag about it, or (gamerush to gamerush) flipping techniques should be done in PM conversations?

I don't know if any of this is really necessary but I would hate for the various Blockbuster employees who help out this board so much, to feel like we are just taking advantage of their kindness.

Unless of course some employee has a vendetta against the company they work for.

Right, it IS your business until you bring it BACK to GRUSH to flip it. Then youve made it their business again.

Cory's not an idiot. He knows all about flips and whatnot and he did what he could to defend against that. Personally, I feel like it hurts browsers like me (since I often chose when shopping) but what else can he do? At least the people who know what they want and ask will be able to score their games they wouldnt have had a chance at otherwise.

from what i have heard employees abused the most last time not customers, also cory i have a question for you, if your account is suspended can you still get any preorder you have with a store

Abuse is abuse. Who did it "more" doesnt change the fact its wrong. Its a lot easier for Grush to keep tabs on the employees vs. the public, wouldnt you say?

And why somebody who seemingly has been suspended (by asking all these questions about it) is going to try and argue the employees are the bulk of Grush's problem is beyond me. Deflecting blame? Oh I think so.
well most of the gamers i know already know what games they want and dont browse like ladies looking at shoes.
I obviously have some idea but if nothing I am looking for was on the shelf, Im not going to assume they have it, its just behind the counter.
and how long are you suspended for
and

Why dont you PM him instead of cluttering the thread? As most of us ARENT suspended, this info is of no importance to us therefore doesnt need to be plastered all over a public thread.

Uh oh... I feel this thread deteriorating a bit...

I just want to hear the stories about how/why (specifically) people have had their accounts closed - strictly for the entertainment value, ala the "Employees of ALL stores - Stories about 'special' customers" thread in the Deal/Shopping Discussions forum. I bet there's been some real bonehead moves on the parts of some flippers (like trying to bring back 5 games they just bought the same day to the same clerk, etc).

I'm pretty much done trading until new preorders get added the the system anyway, so hopefully reading these stories will tide me over :D. It certainly seems like everyone else is in a holding pattern anyway (judging by the lack of posted trade values recently). I don't have much interest in the $5 PO sale since I have just about all the new or relatively new games I can handle now! (Though if a used Star Wars III for DS shows up I'm all over that).
Uh oh... I feel this thread deteriorating a bit...
Not really. We're just not going to let people of questionable morals give corey anything but the full admiration and respect he deserves.

Do you guys even realize how unbelieveably cool this man is? He tells us all the deals ,specials, etc beforehand even though he knows full well there will be people who will abuse it. He believes in the good people of CAG rather then the bad.

Gamerush is awesome, no doubt. But there is a great responsibilty that comes with frequenting there. DONT rape the place, or it will go away. If you need money, get a job (far more moneymaking than sitting on your butt and GRush flipping) Buy games you truly want, not just anything because you can get it/make a profit later. Take it from a guy who lost a Gamerush, the alternatives SUCK. Abuse the place if you want, but when it goes the way of the dodo, dont be surprised and dont you dare complain since YOU caused its demise.

I went and traded in 2 games today and got a pre-order (she said that deal MIGHT end Tuesday....we'll see)

She told me about the buy 2 get 1 free and the trade 3 get one for $5. She was like, "This is going to be a mess"

I may have to take a small advantage of it...we'll see. I'll have to pick up some CHEAP games.
