CAGiversary!
ALL INFO AND DEALS FOR GAMERUSH (pm/post with any suggestions)

If your in the Oklahoma City area stop by my store at Nw 50th and MacArthur (for now). If your a flipper/scammer at least spare my store the crap titles unless its for presales...thanks. If your good I may hook up with with a special "modification" to a current deal that you may greatly enjoy...

Please note in the next few weeks I will be changing stores to Hefner and Rockwell. They needed the help and while I like my store the pay raise was justifiable and my current sm is moving to pittsburg.

Current Deals

Trade 3 games get an extra $5 per game (LAST DAY IS MAY 16!)

Beginning March 15th till May 23rd, trade 3 games get an extra $5 per game. PSP, NDS, GBA, Xbox, Gcube, and PS2 only. No sports games before '04 and no Freestyle Street Soccer, or minigames/demo discs (the usuals). Also be aware some titles that sell for $4.99 may not work either (Haven, Project Eden, etc.) So don't get upset when they don't.

You may be limited to 10 per day though YMMV.

Trade 2 games and get New Releases and Pre-Orders for $29.99 til September 5th (subject to change)

Buy 1 Preowned game get another 1 for 50% off. Takes off lowest priced title so separate and make sure employee scans your groups and barcode seperate.
Price and selection will vary by location and quantities are limited. Offer not valid on previously rented movies, sale items or in conjunction with any other discount or offer. 2 out= $24.99 the first month...$29.99 thereafter

OTHER INFO

They also have coupons in magazines for great deals, so be sure to check EGM, GamePro, and several other magazines.

GameRush is starting to expand, so check the store locator every once in awhile to see if one is coming to an area near you.

All BlockBuster's should now accept trades, so the trade in prices for BB and GR should be similar, but normal BBs will not always have the deals that GameRush has.

GameRush accepts game trades without case and instructions and the games can be in poor condition depending on the employee.

You must have a BB account and sign a trade agreement to trade at GameRush.

Please be careful if you scam GameRush (by flipping games) they do have the abillity to ban you from all GameRush locations if they want to (and as I have done but that was only because I was tired of crap PS1...).

Release dates - Go by the shipping date. 9 times out of 10 it is not what the Blockbuster computer says. The computer date is when traditional stores can expect to receive their rental games.

Game Rush receives games typically on Tuesday and Wednesday of the games release. Only reason EB and Gamestop get them a day before is because they get special shipments or their dm picks the games up and brings back that evening (or they are near distribution centers).

Some games have street dates but this is few and far between (outrun 2, halo 2, star wars episode 3, doom 3 are it in the past 6 months).

Bummer! no more Constantine?! Hopefully they have more at the other fry's stores. Is this game at least decent to play?
These trades are from the 11th with the extra $5 added.

GBA - Metal Slug Advance - $16.00
GBA - Pokemon Sapphire - $14.00
GBA - Wing Commander: Prophecy - $17.00

I can't believe they give so much credit for these GBA games. I'd trade in more but I want to keep everything I have left. I'm going to weed out some more PS2 and GC games next.
Yeah, while their console game trade-ins are good, their GBA trades are *excellent* (with 2 exceptions shown below). I can't believe some of the prices I've gotten.

Since I just recently got a DS and a PSP I'm really thinning out the GBA games that my son and I have. Most of them I got at the CC $5 sale last summer or at Target on clearance and never played. I have gotten the following GBA deals (note that some date back to Jan):

- Dora Super Spies: $17.50 with bonus ($4 at Kmart)
- Frogger's Adventures Temple: $7 with bonus (bought for about the same last summer at Target, played once)
- Madden NFL 2004: $11 with bonus (CC $5 summer sale - intended to play while on business trips, never did)
- Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3: $6.50 with bonus (bought for about $10 at Target last summer and played a few times - the normal value for this one is pretty crappy actually considering that it is a highly rated game. I jumped on the trade-in for this when the $5 bonus started)
- Matt Hoffman Pro BMX 2: $6.50 with bonus (CC $5 summer sale - never played, same crappy value as Tony Hawk for what is supposed to be a good game)
- Virtua Tennis: $10 with bonus (y'all know where this came from for $1 - just wish I had gotten more than 1)
- Hot Wheels World Race: $6 w/o bonus (CC $5 summer sale - played once)
- Lord of the Rings Two Towers: think I got about $7 or $8 w/o bonus (got at Target for $7.50, played it through once as Legolas and beat it on a business trip - had enough)

I'm almost positive I've done more but I don't have the January slips any more. I've considered dumping the following but since I've been able to buy so much cheap trade fodder I haven't needed to: Rock N Roll Racing, Powerpuff Mojo Jojo, Hobbit, Space Invaders, and Spyro Rhynocs. That still leaves plenty of GBA games I'll never have time to play (still have unopened copies of Sword of Mana, Advance Wars 2, Zelda A Link to the Past, and Zelda Minish Cap - all but the last obtained cheaply, ~ $10, thanks to CAG).

I did actually buy Mario vs Donkey Kong (used, looks new) from GR for my son (I figure that makes up for the crappy games I got rid of that he occasionally played like Dora) and plan to buy Lego Star Wars for GBA for him when they get their 1 and only 1 copy in that they ordered. I had to stop myself from getting the Final Fantasy I & II that I saw someone trade in yesterday. I simply won't ever play it.
I think LE is the only version Jade Empire came out with. If you go to EB's website, they only list the LE version. I know you are getting yours at GR, but if there was another version, EB would have it listed.
Actually all of the Best Buys in my area have only the regular edition. GameRush, EB and such have the limited one but the regular version does exist.
SOS--did you get a chance to try out Arcadia?

I went by today and saw the same guy working, so I didn't even bother to get out of my car.

Also--Industry Frys has no more Constantines, I was able to get 1 of each and there were no more to be found.
No I haven't been there in over a week. I've been busy with school stuff and tests. The guy that you encountered, does he have a name? I recognize about 5 guys and 4 girls that work there. Also you can try the Glendora/San Dimas GR if you want to try double dipping again; it worked as of last Friday and I got Lumines off of it.
Actually all of the Best Buys in my area have only the regular edition. GameRush, EB and such have the limited one but the regular version does exist.
Oh sorry, my bad.

I think that if GR only gets the LE version, they should give it to you. Also, doesn't the LE version sell for $49.95? If so, it qualifies for the trade 2 get a new game or pre-order for $29.95.

NineH

My local BB didn't carry Regular JE version they endup give me LE version. If they don't you have to do Return & Exchange for LE version ;)

The guy I dealt with last time doesn't wear the normal black GR shirt--but he was in his late twenties with a light mustache and blondish/brown hair. Either he's new there or I've seen him ONCE before--but I thought I had their schedules pretty much pinned down.

James is the taller mexican guy with black hair, thin and always wearing the black GR shirt...it seems that he is the main "game guy" there, and he can be a bit picky about alot of things so I try to avoid him as well.

Everyone else in the store are usually really cool--especially mike and anton--but I haven't seen those guys working there for about two weeks now so I don't know if they are still there or not--it seems like they switch staff fairly often. There is also a dude there who wears squared framed black glasses and never wears any kind of BB/GR clothing, usually a hooded sweater--depening on his mood that day, he's cool as well.
Oddly enough we got our map in today and while the trade 3 for extra 15 ends May 23rd they are now saying 9/5 for the Trade 2 get 1 for $29.99. Yes thats September 5th. I'll be looking into this just to make sure.
A month ago I had asked an employee about this and he had told me the same thing. I didn't think the 2 get 1 for $29.99 deal would last for so long. Thanks for veryfing this Cory. It's good to know that I'll be able to get all the "big" holiday releases with this deal!

Seems to be a lot of confusion over Jade Empire at Game Rush.

Game Rush is only receiving the limited edition one for sale. While this could change at a later date, for now that is all that is being received for sale.

There is no price difference and it does work for the trade 2 get 1 for $29.99 deal. Any store that says otherwise is in the wrong/misinformed.

Yes Game Rush does have the regular for rental. Still not sure why this is but that is how it is.

Has anyone else had trouble buying Jade Empire from GR? I went in yesterday to pick one up, and they told me they only received the pre-order copies. Why would they only receive those and not their entire shipment?

Alright guys is there a promo code or something. I have no Gamerush stores over here but we do have 3 BlockBusters within 10 minutes.

They all seem to not know about the trade 3 get an extra $5. each.

Can someone help? Or is this strictly for Gamerush stores only?

That may have been them being an asshole and not putting the rest of the games out in an attempt to get you to preorder. I've had a couple different stores try numerous things to convince me to preorder. I always end up getting the game (and no big deal to me if I don't on release day) so I don't see the point.

Well that could be the reason, except that I aske dhim if I could just pre-order it, and he said, "No." ?!?!? I didn't want to complain too much, though, because he did let me double-dip. The last GR in the Tampa Bay area to allow it. (sniffle, sniffle)

I just don't understand how any of the stores allow double dipping. They end up giving you $35 plus the trade in value of the 3 games. These stores are losing their asses on those deals.

My thought is that they probably don't have any Jade Empire copies left for you. Or all the preorder folks have not picked up their copies yet. They want to be sure to take care of all the preorders first.

Actually my GR had both regular and limited editions of Jade Empire for sale. The guy tried to give me the regular one, but I insisted on the limited edition.

After they scan the title have them hit PF4 (that is a P). PF4.

It should bring up a menu like this (loosely based on memory)

1. Competitive Price Match
2. Trade 3 get an extra $5 per game
3. something else

have them hit 2 and if its a valid title it will bring it up $5
Anyone know the trade-in value for:?

all i know is FF X2 gets $8 before $5, same for FFX

I checked today, no luck. It seems like slim pickings for PSP cases and memory cards.

corycubed- the trade 2 get one for 29.99 will go until september, but what about the trade 3 get an extra $5 on each game? will it still end on the 23rd? if so, what deal will replace it

i am quite interested in the logitech case too, i'd say slim picking for all things psp (i've been waiting for ridge racer for a while)
whats the GR trade-in value of MGS3?
they sell halo 2 used at the same price as MGS3 used, and halo 2 gets $23 before the extra $5. id guess around $20, give or take a few bucks. the 20 is before the extra 5

OK, here's a few more values as of 4/15, all with $5 bonus:

Xbox - Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines: $10 ($1.99 at CC)
PS2 - Hobbit: $6.50 ($4.98 at Target - didn't quite get the profit I have been accustomed to, but at least it was still on the plus side)
GBA - X2: Wolverine's Revenge: $7 ($1.99 at CC)
GBOY - Harry Potter & The Chamber of Secrets: $7 ($1.99 at CC)

...this one shocked me - I didn't realize until after I opened it that it was a Gameboy Color title. The box was the same size but the cartridge was not in the convenient place GBA ones are and then when I pulled out this big bulky cart I was a bit surprised. I've never owned any handheld before the GBA SP so, although I've seen the old GB carts in used stores, I never payed them any attention.

But what *really* surprised me is that this qualified for the $5 bonus deal (and, frankly, that it got $2 normally when GBA titles like Tony Hawk 4 and Matt Hoffman BMX only get 1.50). I assume she rang it in with the promo code and it was accepted. She didn't even hesitate after checking the box and cartridge out. I bought 2 at CC - one for the kids to play with and one to trade in. Now that I know its a crappy "GBOY" title I may just dump the second one as well (crappy meaning graphics-wise).

I'm tapped out on preorder possibilites so I just bought PSP Ridge Racer and Jak III with the $29.99 deal. I know Jak III will be $20 soon, but I still got it for less than that out of pocket, so no biggie - figured I could throw my local GR a bone since the same number of Jak III's have been sitting there for months.

I am also going to return some of the GH titles that I got at TRU during the 2 for $30 deal and just rebuy them at GR for $20 each. As with Jak, I figured my real cost is only half that, and I'll be throwing GR some truly full-price retail business to help their bottom line (or at least help make them look good to the company). I'll be using the trade credit from non-GR BB's to pay for them, so hopefully that will make GR look good (I want it to remain and stay well stocked and cared for!).

Earlier at a regular BB I got:
Xbox - Constantine: $23 (there had been some question as to this being $18 with the bonus. Well, as of 4/15 I have confirmed that the $18 is pre-bonus. Whoever said that it was after the bonus better check their receipt and see if they got the bonus at all!)
Xbox - Powerdrome: *still* holding at $16
GBA - Wing Commander "Prophecy": *still* holding at $17

I opened up a new trading account at a BB in a completely different town (but near the CC and Best Buy that I sometimes go to) just to spread around some of these titles. I really didn't want to give my local BB (the manager there knew about the $5 deal the day it started and knew exactly how to ring it up - plus they have the best selection of games I've seen of any regular BB) or the GR more than 1 Wing Commander Prophecy each. So I'll be bringing thirds of anything to the second regular BB. Once again the employees there were aware of the deal but didn't know how to do it - they eventually overcame that though :)

By the way, I went into another TRU today and Wing Commander was $10 there. Not as good as the $8 I got it for (or the $5 others have), but still a nice profit. It wasn't orange-tagged at this TRU either, just the regular price was low. I didn't feel bad buying three at $8 because I have seen them there for months - no one else wants them. But just a heads up that these might be available in many TRU's for a YMMV (but probably low) price.

I was at EB today getting FFX-2 for $10 (planning later to return my $15 one to TRU). Does it make any other CAG's cringe when they are in a place like EB and they see people paying full price for games? I know I've always been like that, even before CAG (since it seems you can always get the newest games for no more than $40 if you look around), but since I've been on here I find it almost painful to watch - like I want to let them in on the secret or something. This is especially true when I see fellow parents doing it, or some kid scrounging all his saved up money from his pockets.

I'm with you on that one. A while ago I was at EB in a mall trading in my TRU stuff. And there was this one kid, maybe about 12 or 13, buying a copy of Champions Return to Arms. So the guy ringed it up and told the kid the total would be something like $54.xx. So the kid took out a bunch of crumpled bills from his pocket, and he only had $53 total. So he looked at the EB guy and the guy said "$54.xx" The kid kept on look at his pocket but nothing came up. So the EB guy said "sorry" and the kid took his money back all sad and said "damn" and left. I almost wanted to tell the kid Champions is on sale at Fry's (which is very close to that mall) for $36.99. I felt bad for the kid.

Also whenever I'm at Gamestop, I see some poor families (I could tell by their kids' clothings and their clothings) buying the gayest games that the kids picked for a really high price. And when they trade in used games, GS would give them like $15 for 10 games AND a GBA system. It's painful for me to watch so I usually avoid GS and EB unless I'm REALLY looking for something that only they have.

That's why I used to carry around extras of the "stash-for-cash" coupons when those were active -- I'd give them to parents who looked clueless whenever I was at EB.
corycubed- the trade 2 get one for 29.99 will go until september, but what about the trade 3 get an extra $5 on each game? will it still end on the 23rd? if so, what deal will replace it
Nothings been announced yet. Blockbuster is having tons of internal financial issues currently so they may just try to ride the summer out with the trade 2 get 1 deal. Though they may try another PPG trade in deal too as many stores are overflowing with stuff.

Still scheduled to end on the 23rd though.

When I got into EB or Gamestop and seeing people buy the new releases I always try to catch them as they walk around the store and tell them it's cheaper elsewhere.

Circuit City is like right next store and they often have new releases for like $40, sometimes CompUSA will have them for $37.99

I would recommend more people to Fry's if there were one closer to my area. All new releases are always $36-$37
they sell halo 2 used at the same price as MGS3 used, and halo 2 gets $23 before the extra $5. id guess around $20, give or take a few bucks. the 20 is before the extra 5
mgs3 will get you 15 b4 the extra 5
Does anyone know the trade-in value for these games:

DoA: Ultimate
Ninja Gaiden
Fable
Dead to Rights 2
Fable got me $20 before the $5 additional on the 4th of April.

Trade prices with the extra $5 :

GBA Space Invaders $14 ($4 at TRU)
PS2 Powerdrome $12 ($5 at CC)
PS2 Black & Bruised $6.50 ($3 at TRU)

Total, 32.50, double-dipped and pre-ordered Xbox Conker for $32.16. So basically Conker cost me $12 out of pocket!

One Game Rush (Glendale, Ca) told me they were not taking any more Constantine.
May be l'll try another Game Rush.

Plus, the guy would not let me "double-dipp"

Any Gamerushs in MI still allow double-dipping?

Also does anyone know the trade in prices for:

Tony Hawk Underground 2 (PSP)
Untold Legands (PSP)

My second copy of the Gameboy Color Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets worked today ($7 with bonus) at a regular BB, so it wasn't a fluke.

Why on earth this gets even $2 normally when some highly rated GBA titles get $1.50 is wierd...

I also picked up Kingdom Hearts and Dark Cloud new after returning the $15 copies to TRU. The cool thing was that Dark Cloud actually rang up $14.99 (marked $19.99) so I ended up getting it for even cheaper than I expected (less than $7 given my trade-in profits). Unfortunately they don't have Dark Cloud 2, except used. I've looked at their used copy in the past and it is all beat up...

I traded 2 Constantines in the Fountain Valley, GR and they let me Double dip for 2 new PSP games. Yes I blew all my hard earned credit on a PSP.

Call of duty - xbox - 30
Oddworld Strangers Wrath - xbox - 31
2x Constantine - PS2 - 23

traded in

powerdrome (PS2)-12
powerdrome (Xbox)-16
Stuntman-8
Unreal Tournament-12

all prices with extra $5

i preordered jak and dexter:pSP and unreal championship 2. i got a tshirt for POing UC2 :)

Just a heads up:

These GBA games are dropping in price this week, and the trade-in values will drop as well. So if you've got any of these laying around, trade them in before Tuesday. Kind of sad to see some of old favorites go down! Note: The new trade-in prices are just an estimate from myself.

Dark Arena (was $5, now $2)
Galidor (was $9, now $3-$4)
Operation Armored Liberty (was $11, now $6-$8)
Razor: Freestyle Scooter (was $5, now $2)
V-Rally 3 (was $5, now $2)
Wing Commander: Prophecy (was $12.50, now $6-$8)

Oooh, thanks. I just picked up another Wing Commander Prophecy yesterday since there's still a pile of them at TRU for $8. I will try to take it in today to my tertiary trade-in store :) I guess that will be the last one of those anyway...

On another topic, do you know when they will drop the price of Zoo Keeper DS (new) to $19.99 as all other stores (including even CompUSA for pete's sake) have done? I'll pick it up then for sure from my GR. Right now it is marked $34.99, and rings up $29.99.

Also, do you know of any other PS2 GH titles that actually ring up less than $19.99 (new of course)? I was surprised to find Dark Cloud for just $14.99 (it was marked $19.99).

And thanks again for the inside info and heads up!

Don't know what this is worth but I heard from a good friend of mine that works for blockbuster who said that they are going to eliminate GameRush. He said he overheard his district manager talking about it. He didn't know when though. I'm guessing it will still be at least a few months. I also don't know how reliable this info is either.
