Do you guys think this Collector's Edition will fetch high in Ebay later on?

As someone here said Ninja Gaiden Ce is going average more than the retail..
If the other LE contents photograph (poster, stickers, etc.) is merely a fan's rendition, I wonder why EB/GS would risk using it on the order page (what with the potential for false advertising and all).

Speaking of the big daddy figurine, the one that is being sold as a stand-alone figure looks like shite compared to the LE figure:

LE Figure ("Pretty, ain't I!" - might have to click past team xbox ad)

Stand-Alone Figure ("I'm the LE figure being rendered on a Geforce2 series card, circa 2001 - where did my textures go??")

:)
Heh, there isn't a stand-alone figure being sold. That's a life size model that they made like 6 of and sent to some stores. The measurements should give you a hint, 221 centimeters is like 7 feet tall. :p

Very cool, but...I'd rather carve out a wooden spoon with a dull metal spoon and then use the wooden spoon to carve out my eyes than shop at Gamestop.

Warning to those getting the pre-order: you will be charged tax, as well as be taxed on the shipping charge. Madness, I tell you...

And after I hit "Place Order" for a $59.99 game, $10 overnight shipping, and 9.25% TN sales tax on the total, I couldn't help but feel a sad, emptiness inside...
Finally bit on this CE. Tax free weekend here in MA, so I got it tax free which was the deal breaker.
I knew you would!

Here's to hoping we don't regret the CE... even though I'm pretty positive we won't.

The packaging for the Bioshock CE sealed it, especially since they have it all included together, figure and all.

Word bitch, word. The packaging looks great.

I got suckered into the Lost Planet CE and :bomb:. A little part of me died inside knowing I paid 10 bucks extra.

I have the Rainbow Six Vegas limited edition. The front cover is slightly altered and there is a making of dvd inside the case.

Luckily I didn't pay full price. I bought it perfect condition in december used from Gamestop, they don't change the used price between a LE/normal game. So it only cost me $50.

If your going to see used Bioshock LE's at GS it's just going to be the contest winner case and game inside.

I'm going to GS now to return my used copy of Resistance. I love that 7 day no questions asked return policy on used games. I feel like the game is too generic and isn't as much as fun as I think Warhawk will be. No need to spend $55 on it, I'll put that $55 towards my Bioshock LE preorder.

Preordered my copy last week. Here's hoping that gamestop actually has enough copy to fill the preorders at my store.

Umm... don't you mean to say the deal maker? :)

I just want to point out one thing.

The box that Corvin posted has the EU/PAL age rating, so it is possible that the packaging in th states will be different. Hopefully the only difference will be the ESRB "M" instead of "18" but there is the slighest possibility our sets won't be in those nice boxes.

Not sure where other pix are coming from; some say customer renderings, some say deeper into the eb/gs site. For my money, even if all you get is the advertised dvd, cd and figurine, that's one of the better LE's I've seen (but I might be biased considering I think this will be one of the best games).
At this point would it be a better idea to pre-order in store instead of online?
Yes, it would.

Most likely it'll be in a box with the only difference being that it has

instead of
18.gif
. But just in case we get VERY different packaging in the states, y'all might want to wait until we have official US pictures.

Edit: Actually, it's not even the PEGI eu/pal rating, it's Englands' BBFC. But the same issue holds.

$69.99 for a video game. Come on now.

Why is everybody so excited by the packaging? I bet that once you open it up, the game will be in this cheap ass cardboard sleeve, like the Gears of Crap LE.

What is the last day we can pre-order this? I'm moving and want to use credit but won't be in the area until Saturday. Could I still get it then you thik?

guinaevere, I think we're trying to get the same point across, i.e. don't get too hung up on anything other than what's advertised on the main eb/gs web pages; that way if there's anything more, it's just icing.

megalith, I forgot how the Gears disc was inserted, though I did really like the tin itself, plus the booklet and making of dvd. frankly I think it was a great LE but everyone's entitled to their opinion. (so, yeah, imo preorders can be worthwhile.)

munch, I called the store today and was told they thought today might be the last day to preorder through them (not sure about the site), as they expect it to ship as early as tomorrow (though they could just be trying to sell me the LE; wouldn't put it past eb/gs).

That sucks. I wanted a PC CE but I won't be able to get to the GS in Austin to pay with credit. Oh well, I'll just get the regular I suppose.

Chrono Trigger for the SNES was between $70 and 80 when it came out and that was over ten years ago. Phantasy Star IV was around 90 and was even earlier.

For the most part the whole, "Development costs are going up!" argument is invalid because of the much larger potential videogame market but as long as I'm careful about what to buy, I have no qualms with the current standard pricing.

$70 is the most I've ever spent on a video game, but this game just looks awesome and the packaging, the toy, and the custom stuff just seems so awesome. The entire company there has done a great job listening to what the fans wanted in the CE, and they delivered on almost everything. The only other game up and coming I would spend this type of money on would be a similar package for Mass Effect

Cool little addition. When they were figuring out what stuff to put in the CE they had a poll on their webpage and took the top 3 items people voted for (Big daddy figure, soundtrack and making of DVD). Then just because the game is pretty and looks neat, they tried to get an art book in but couldn't make it, so they made it a PDF and have it free to download on their webpage.

What the hell! Just played the demo. Blows away every FPS I've played away. Atmosphere, atmosphere, atmosphere.

Aight. Let's see what I can trade in for this.

I hate seeing these threads of people being so shocked(no pun intended) about how awesome Bioshock is. It definitely is awesome and has met my expectations and then some but have these people watched a single video since that sweet 7 minute walkthrough by Ken Levine last September?

The Gears LE packaging is Ace compared to the PREY LE. The PREY disc was set against the Metal of the Tin and was all scratched up. I tried like 3 copies and they were all scratched. Best Buy employes could not believe how fucked the packaging was.

I was very pleased with the Gears packaging, as long as the disc has an individual space to safely sit. Im happy.

The Halo 2 LE was also Ass. the Play disc just sits on top of the bonus disc.

I've been debating back and forth whether to buy or rent Bioshock, and even after playing the demo and loving it, I still cannot decide. I have 4,000 in debt, so it's so hard to decide.

Interesting. My Prey LE had no problems. At least the tin came in mint condition, unlike my GoW, which had a million dents on it.

But I think I prefer the Lost Planet LE case. The artwork is in all the right spots, and the texture of the case itself is pretty cool.

I pre-orderd the 360 CE version a couple days ago. Im a big fan of deluxe, box or ce/le's as long as they are good.

And my GoW came all F'ed up as well. But I liked the FFXII CE even though it really wasnt CE :whistle2:/ spend 60 bucks and like 3 months later was $30. but i like how the disc an manual were also different not just the case which was also nice qaulity.

I read somewhere that the soundtrack CD is actually just a "mini" soundtrack, with a few game songs. Can anyone confirm this? It's actually the major reason why I would get a LE, but if it's only a couple of songs, I'll pass.

If you pre-ordered ins tore, You might have to pay tax when you pick the game up. I pre-ordered 99 Nights last year on tax free weekend in full and I had to pay tax when I picked it up.

My PREY tin was fine, it was the disc that was all scratched up.

The Lost Planet Tin is great as is the Perfect Dark Zero one.

As long as the Game Disc sits in its own place seperated from the bonus disc, Im happy. The Gears LE , original Viva Pinata case, and the Oblivion CE were also all great examples of this as well. I really hope the Bioshock CE takes the oblivion style inner case where the case folds out and there are two seperate disc beds. Anything will work though as long as the disc is not sitting up against the tin like the PREY CE was.

the mini cd soundtrack was in the fan made mock up. The official LE has a full CD.

Anyways, I have my copy pre-ordered. Last time I pre-ordered a game was Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin for all the 20th anniversary stuff. I can't wait 'til next Tuesday :)

I bought Super Mario RPG for the SNES on release day from some store (Strawberries??) for $85, and it was worth evey penny.

BioShock will probably be my GotY so $70 for the CE is nothing to me.

I'm also in MA, and I do think you still need to pay tax when you pick it up regardless if you paid for it in full when you pre-ordered or not.

Will they have the limited edition available to buy in store even if you don't preorder it? I would assume that they would, but I just want to make sure.
