My wife just picked up my LE and said the figurine looked intact. The Gamestop employee said that they realized they screwed up the packaging and there are apparently a lot of reports of stores getting broken "Big Daddy's" so you may want to open it or at least inspect it before leaving. He gave her a number to call if there was any problems with it.

I picked up my LE copy this morning and the guy there told me if I got home and the Big Daddy was broken at all, to call GS and they would give me instructions on how to get a new one. Apparently 2K would send me a box, I would send the Big Daddy back, and they would send me a new one with a free artbook for my troubles. I haven't opened my game yet.

I could have sworn I read somewhere the LE had a metal case for the game. Does the box art at least look cool? I'll be picking my LE up tonight after work.

I'm just jealous I'm 360-less at the moment and have to wait on Bioshock. If the HDMI/Wireless/free arcade game Core pack comes true I'll be getting that immediately to go with my HD left over from an old system, though.

Persona 3 makes it a little easier to wait on Bioshock. Hope you guys all enjoy the game. And good job on the ebaying to get Bioshock free, to those of you smart enough to do that.

Broken Big Daddy figure here. The drill arm fell off. The EB guy said to check 2k's webpage for instructions on what to do next. Oh, I also used the 10% off email coupon and it worked fine. No discount for the broken figure, but figured (heh!) I'd ask anyway.

Didn't Pre-order but walked in and got me an LE complete with Broken Arm Big Daddy figure. Funny thing is it's not the drill arm it's his left arm and it's completely broken from the shoulder. Used the 10% off coupon as well and got the web address linking to the page posted before by kendro:

Hope everything works out and we all get our non-broken figures.

wow...everyone on ebay is posting the wrong picture of the LE  I think I'm the only one with the PC version who has the right description and picture up.

According to Kotaku 2K Games didn't set the field of View correctly, so if you are using wide screen you lose a little bit on the top and bottom.

Exchanged my $9.99 new copy of Eragon last week for $49.xx in store credit at Wal-Mart; went back today and was happy to see BioShock was only $48.00.

Total for my copy of BioShock = $8.xx, and I still have some money left over in store credit.

Oh my god you just bragged about this on FW, then you copy and paste it to CAG? If they don't approve over there, what kind of reaction were you expecting from us?

WOW!

you've been here for how long now & advertised a FW ...'deal' but in reality it was nothing more than a walmart return fraud.

Furthemore this is a thread for the EB/GS bioshock LE run...
if you wish to brag your 'deal' of acquiring a 'regular' bioshock game - please do so appropriately in the 'deal/shopping discussions & bragging rights' thread.

Dude, that's not cool, and it's definitely not something you should be bragging about. It's straight-up fraud and is seriously frowned upon here.

BAck on topic though, I'll probably be returning my LE and just getting my cash back. No metal case no real soundtrack and it ends up not being what I thought I was paying for...:booty:

I've been hearing that the game doesn't handle widescreen resolutions well... instead of increasing the horizontal view, it stretches the horizontal view and cuts off the top and bottom parts... like looking through a knight's helmet.

I preordered the limited edition version... I may just turn around and sell it on ebay (you guys seem to be getting good prices for it!) and then wait until they fix the display.

Dude, that's pretty much stealing.

eBay it; they're going for $120+ right now.

My only complaint about the LE is the music disc sucks. I thought we were getting a soundtrack, it's just 3 crappy remixes.

I can't believe I'm disappointed that my preorder wasn't broken, but I am. None of the LE's that this GS had were broken. I really wanted that art book. Maybe 2K will release the printed version for everyone else (I know about the PDF, but I want something that looks good on my shelf). And maybe while they're at it, maybe they will release a proper soundtrack. That Bioshock EP was truly execrable.

The 10% off coupon worked though. Got it back in cash, which I didn't know they did.

oh yea well I just stole 2 copies from the display case when the clerk wasnt looking, then I proceeded to take his wallet out of his back pocket.

Im hoping my Big daddy isnt broken since its later in the day and i still wont get it for about 45 minutes. But then again I might just sell it on ebay and buy the regular version.

Now that's a real cheap ass gamer.

Anything good in his wallet?

Just your mom's number.

FOAD, scumbag.

Ebay is going to be interesting with all of these broken figures. The only people buying them on ebay are collectors. If you spend $100 or more on the LE you probably want it in pristine condition.

Can you imagine fighting a Big Daddy, and then all of a sudden a hand comes out of his head to grab you? AWESOME! Also, if I knew it was going to look this cool I would've pre-ordered.

Just picked mine up. Perfect shape.

I went ahead and got the guide with it, due to the extra 10 percent off if you buy the game + guide (in addition to the e-mail coupon to save 10 percent off a purchase), plus I wanted it for collector's purposes.

I am loving this Big Daddy figure, and so is Sydney.

I don't think the LE is so bad. I just wish the game disc case inside had that cool shiny slipcover that the regular edition has. If anyone picked up the regular and doesn't want their slipcover, I'll pay well for it. ;)

pm sent....

Bought the LE with 10% coupon and store credit (no tax) $62.99 out the door...couldn't pass up the cheap ass profit just sold it on the Bay....

At GS also bought the Strategy Guide for 20% off with store
credit (again no tax) $15.99 out the door...
over to BB and bought the regular version with the 110% PM from CC....$59.99 - $11.00

Don't really care about any of the Limited extras accept the Daddy...hopefully I'll find him for a reasonable price some time down the road....

Congrats to all and thanks again CAG!

I got the Limited Edition Bioshock, and am wondering if anyone has any idea how much the Big Daddy Sealed Figure would/should go for on eBay, based on previous LE figures/games.
I asked this in the other Bioshock thread also:

Is the Big Daddy suspossed to be missing a finger?
Mine is missing the middle finger as well. I wonder if it's a sign.

Anyway, is that considered broken?

Dunno. Mine's just missing the tip of the drill - I wouldn't even have noticed, except one of my coworkers has one that's perfect.

Weird.

Same here.. Tip broken.. urrg..

Picked up mine, and Big Daddy looks intact. In any case, since I fully prepaid mine, douche bag said I couldn't use the 10% off coupon. I told him about returning it and instantly buying it again but said I couldn't because it was pre-ordered. What a douche, does he not now how much it pains a CAG to not save $7???!!!! Douchebaggery I say!!!!

Nice, I'm glad those idiots like to punish their customers for giving them more money before the game comes out. You should go back, bring up this point with them, and ask to speak to the manager. That is ridiculous.

Argh, why'd you have to say anything? I read this, looked at mine, and sure enough no tip. :whistle2:(

EDIT: The tip was in the package, and thanks to the wonders of super glue, it's now good as new. Actually, better, since it was broken new. :p

Mine is missing the tip too and I couldn't even find the original tip! I hope I can send it in. If I never noticed the tip, I wouldn't care, but now I'm focusing on it and its annoying me
