4/26 Update

I have been informed that final clearance will begin 5/3. I should have information concerning titles and prices around 4/30. Stay tuned.

4/5 Update

Sale is live!

:wii: Wii
:ps2: PS2
:pc: PC
:ds: DS
:psp: PSP - UMD Movies

* Note: Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection is not part of this sale. It was apparently a mistake, one that has not been fixed. It's still listed on the site, but no discount has been applied to it.

4/4 Update

Thanks to (radio edit) for supplying us with the lists and prices. He also confirmed that the free wired 360 guitar promotion IS still valid with the purchase of Guitar Hero Aerosmith!

The lists were previously posted on GameStop.com at the following address. More than likely, when the sale does go live, this is where we will find the pricing.

http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/gamedays09/

And here is a scan of the 10% off coupon that was in this month's Game Informer. Thanks to xycury! Coupon is in the spoiler.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Is this sale for new or used games?
A: New games only. In the past, there have been B2G1 sales on used items associated with Game Days, so keep an eye out for that.

Q: Will all of the games be "gutted" or opened?
A: YMMV. Some stores I have been to basically open everything up and dump it into the bins. Others will only open a few copies and leave the rest behind the counter. If you want a sealed copy, make sure to ask.

Q: Is this in-store or online?
A: Both.

Q: Will the store accept a print-out of the 10% off coupon?
A: YMMV.

Q: Does the coupon work for one item or the whole purchase?
A: It works on all Game Days items bought in a purchase.

Q: Is there going to be a B2G1 on used games and accessories?
A: As previously mentioned, there could possibly be one later, but as of now, nope. There is only a B2G1 on used PS2 games when you buy a new PS2 system.

I have been seriously considering getting MLB Power Pros for the Wii for some time, but I couldn't pass up the PS2 version for $3.99. This will be my first baseball game since playing Bases Loaded on the original Gameboy (Wii Sports doesn't count).
Don't forget Thoroughbred Village (near TJ Maxx, the shopping center where Circuit City used to be), too. I didn't go there, so I don't know what they had. I only stopped by the other one because my wife had to return something to Ross.
i've completely lost my mind ;) ...of course there's that one where the roof caved in on TJ Maxx and no one seems to go there. 3 GS all within a 3 minute drive each other. Thanks again.

One of my local gamestops had Persona 4 marked down to $20 during the regular sale, instead of Persona 3 FES. Used the coupon in Gameinformer and got the game for $18. The girl behind the counter couldn't figure out why she had to manually override the coupon.

I wonder if it's down to $15 now or they caught the mistake?

Tomorrow I'm going to any of the 5 Gamestops in a 15 minute radius that supposedly have FES. I'm not sure if the region just hasn't updated or if the game just isn't selling well around here.

I was tempted to pick up a copy or two of Hidden & Dangerous for the PC for $.29 each just to have some coasters for the house, but then I realized that .29 is .28 too much for that game.

Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy it. It's obviously dated, but I thought it was certainly worth a dollar.

Finally got around to picking up a copy of Namco Museum and picked up a Wavebird while I was down there. The clerk commented that the Wavebird lasted a total of 2 hours. =P

Got a sealed Namco Arcade Museum for $10.

Anyone have any thoughts on that game? $10 is fine, but the games... do they justify the $10 purchase? I've already got the Arcade Unplugged disc ($5) a while ago.

I too bought it (two copies) for $.99. While I haven't got around to playing it yet, it's hard to complain about a $1 investment. For $.29, it may just be the best gaming value ever (shy of free) lol!

I didn't buy a copy though, I thought about it, but I don't play PC games enough to bother with buying one.
hey is civ revolution for ds any good?
I'm generally not a fan of turn based games, but I *love* Civ Revolution on the DS. The graphics are nothing to write home about, but the variety of winning conditions is extremely compelling.

Cool is it like any of the Civ games on PC?
Got a sealed FES without even needing to ask.
! I envy you.

I nabbed the last copy at the Denton, TX Gamestop. I even asked the guy about a sealed copy and he said he had no more sealed copies. Was kinda bummed but I wasn't about to turn down a $15 RPG that claims to have 100-something hours of gameplay.

I'm still not sure how I'm going to get 100 hours out of it...but its one of the best and more obscure and unique RPGs I've touched in a while. It reminds me of TWEWY for the DS....

I went to GS because I was going to pick up Resident evil 5 Limited editon for $45 (50% off), but they pulled the copies off the floor and told me the game days sale is over. The one guy said it is supposed to go until Saturday closing, but their manager told them to remove the sale items. He scanned the RE5, but it rang up at 89.99.
Huh? Where is RE5 on sale?
I was at gamestop 2 or 3 days ago and they had the collector's edition of RE5 (yes with the figure/bag/etc) as well as Brothers in Arms collector's edition for 50% off. Both on the PS3.

I didn't want to wait in line, so I went back today and they were full price again. The game days display was down as well. They also had Valkyria Chronicles for 29.99 (gutted) but it was also not on sale anymore.

That really sucks. You would have saved $75 if you just spent the time. Oh well. When things are too good to be true it is good to act right away.

YEah.. those of you that are saying they saw REs 5 CE for 50% were either tripping or fooled by the fact that people do put things int he wrong places.
I have worked for gamestop for 6 years.... A game like that for that price was never put at 50%.... It may have been in the bin... but it was not $49.99.

NOw... About this metal gear geadset... where did you hear this?

It had a 50% off sticker on the front of it and the employee acknowledged it was 50% off the other day. I can not seem to find the limited edition on the gamestop website either. There is proof of the metal gear bluetooth on another thread (ie: receipt).

Oh and there were 3 in the tight fitting bin all with 50% off stickers (not one that had a pile of games in it like other gamestops I went to. I remember thinking "is it worth it?" because these were $90 to begin with, so it is still pretty expensive for a game that didn't do as well as expected. I figured it would drop again since itis supposed to be a final clearance sale.

Sounds like the RE5 price was a mistake... I can wait on a better deal in the future...
Picked up FF 1&2 Psp, and the Namco disc

wat are your thoughts on command and conquer?..i was thinking of getting it but i didn't hear too much about it.

So this is dead now(?) The website is back to regular prices. Good thing I grabbed the last of what I wanted yesterday.
I wish gamestop still carried older video game stuff. In the mid-2000's they started selling again, then they got rid of it all. Sigh...
Play N' Trade.

I recently picked up a beautiful copy of the seriously underrated "Sheep Raider" for PS1 at a Play N' Trade, and I finally grabbed a copy of "Adventure" and "Astro Blast" for my Atari 2600.

I can confirm the CE's were indeed 50% off at my local Gamestop. I picked up RE5 CE, Fallout 3 CE, Saint's Row 2 CE, Brother in Arms CE, GTA 4 CE for X360...and Resistance 2 CE for PS3. Helluva haul IMO.

I just picked up a copy of Chrono Trigger for $29.99. But I did notice a few other games that were on sale not on sale anymore. I.E. the guitar hero games, and FFT for the psp.

So i dont get it.... is this final clearance everything is 50%? because alot of those mentioned items wernt even in the gameday sale, so they are just random 50% off items that werent previously included in any sales?

They were clearing out collector editions for the titles I was able to grab. I was surprised, given how popular most of these titles are (RE5, Fallout 3, GTA 4, Resistance 2!). Turns out the CEs are apparently discontinued, hence the sweet price..doesn't make much sense to me either..

I think this is where I say "I told you so" to the people who didn't believe me when I reported this information on 5/6.

Got excited reading the posts above about the Collector's Editions. But I just tried my local GS and NONE of the CEs mentioned were clearanced. I even had them scan them and press total to make sure it wasn't a promo that had to kick in. Sucks as I was ready to grab a few.

Guess it's YMMV even though I thought GS was pretty consistent nationwide on this sort of thing.

I should have mentioned that I picked up the 50% CEs during the "game days" sale. I haven't been back since, so i'm not aware of their current offering. I do recall they had to manually adjust pricing at checkout. I guess I was just lucky with the timing. What was surprising was the majority of people passing on the bin, ignoring it completely.

The bins had a sign that said Final Clearance 50%.

Define 'sweet' price. I paid $31.79 per copy for two copies of the GTA IV SE from the Blockbuster clearance last month sometime. Mind you, $45 and change for it this year isn't bad since the game is still $60 new by itself.

GTA IV went down to $39.99 MSRP a while back.

I didn't realize the clearance was still going on. Stopped in a local GS this evening and they still had a lot of leftover games. In fact, it looked like they had even more than when they started. Either way, picked up Obscure for $12.99. Might go back and grab Tomb Raider for the same price.
