4/30 Update

The final clearance prices are in. Not quite as good as I hoped, but a few deals to be had. Thanks again to (classified) for the information. If a game is not on this new list, it is going back up to its old price. So, if you want something from the sale, get it now with the coupon.

4/26 Update

I have been informed that final clearance will begin 5/3. I should have information concerning titles and prices around 4/30. Stay tuned.

4/5 Update

Sale is live!

* Note: Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection is not part of this sale. It was apparently a mistake, one that has not been fixed. It's still listed on the site, but no discount has been applied to it.

4/4 Update

Thanks to (radio edit) for supplying us with the lists and prices. He also confirmed that the free wired 360 guitar promotion IS still valid with the purchase of Guitar Hero Aerosmith!

The lists were previously posted on GameStop.com at the following address. More than likely, when the sale does go live, this is where we will find the pricing.

http://www.gamestop.com/gs/landing/gamedays09/

And here is a scan of the 10% off coupon that was in this month's Game Informer. Thanks to xycury! Coupon is in the spoiler.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Is this sale for new or used games?
A: New games only. In the past, there have been B2G1 sales on used items associated with Game Days, so keep an eye out for that.

Q: Will all of the games be "gutted" or opened?
A: YMMV. Some stores I have been to basically open everything up and dump it into the bins. Others will only open a few copies and leave the rest behind the counter. If you want a sealed copy, make sure to ask.

Q: Is this in-store or online?
A: Both.

Q: Will the store accept a print-out of the 10% off coupon?
A: YMMV.

Q: Does the coupon work for one item or the whole purchase?
A: It works on all Game Days items bought in a purchase.

Q: Is there going to be a B2G1 on used games and accessories?
A: As previously mentioned, there could possibly be one later, but as of now, nope. There is only a B2G1 on used PS2 games when you buy a new PS2 system.
Does anyone expect a significant discount on Chrono Trigger? It's like $40 right now. Hopefully it drops to like $20-25, but maybe I'm expecting too much.
Well the discounts are UP TO 50% OFF, so the most it would be is $20 off. Your guess is as good as mine as to the percentage that they actually take off.

BTW, your avatar pick made me chuckle.

Depending on the final sale costs (I'm hoping for half-off on both), I'll probably bite on Valkyria Chronicles and Castlevania for the PSP.

Thanks for the list! Any idea when GS will actually apply the Game Days discounts on the website? It'd be nice to plan this stuff out ahead of time.
Actually it's a crappy list with some really good highlights. Better than last year IMHO.
I agree. I think there were more quality titles last year, but the highlights of this one are quite stronger. There are some really big name titles here. As others have said, the strength of this sale will ride on how much the better titles get discounted. If stuff like Valkyria Chronicles, the PS2 boxsets, and Umbrella Chronicles are the right price, that's stuff that is simply too good to pass up, especially with the coupon.
Thanks for the list! Any idea when GS will actually apply the Game Days discounts on the website? It'd be nice to plan this stuff out ahead of time.
I highly doubt the sale prices will be on the site until the sale is actually live. But hopefully, someone will be able to get a little inside info for us before then.

The UMD movie of Stealth comes with a free copy of Wipeout Pure, excellent game. Only 4.99 listed right now, I wonder if it will be discounted further. 4.99 is an absolute steal for Wipeout Pure.

So I guess there hasn't been any news on a b2g1 at the start of the sale? Looks like its just gonna be Valkyria Chronicles and some DS rpgs for me :)

Hmmm, "up to 50% off"?

Haven't all the games on the list in previous years all been 50% off? Not "up to"?

Damn, it would really blow if some of the incredible standouts on the list (Phantasy Star Portable, Valkyria Chronicles, Chrono Trigger etc.) were only slightly discounted. But it would figure, because 50% off on those would simply be too good to be true. Ah well, here's hoping they put them at 50% off (or 60% off with the bonus coupon!!!).

Even if they aren't heavily discounted, if I recall correctly, the games are further discounted as time goes on, so in the case of the discounts on the good games being weak, hopefully that will also allow them to remain unsold until they drop further...

I know last year's sale was also up to 50% off. I think the lowest was like 20% or 25%. And yes, towards the end of the sale, a lot of the stuff will get discounted further.

In previous years it was up to 50% as well. Some were 30%, 33%, and 40%. I think some may have even been 25%.

It was likely an oversight on their webmaster's part. Listing the fact that a game will be on sale a couple of weeks down the road can only hurt their chances of selling it today for full price.
Based on how people are posting on this thread, they probably got tired of people saying "THESE PRICES SUCK!!!!! FAIL!!!"
Kinda difficult, since we haven't even seen any prices yet. ;)

Does anyone have the list saved anywhere? I was planning to go through it and make a list of what to look for on Sunday.

Wow, I guess they really didn't mean to let the list out a week early. I wonder if they may change up the selection a bit based on the lackluster response.

Doubt it. Besides, considering it's GameStop and the Game Days sale, I think the response has been pretty positive overall. Though there is a lot absolute shit in there, the gems have gotten people excited, at least...if the price is right.

Can someone post the list for those of us that missed it?

Also, would they do another B2G1 just a couple weeks after the last one?

Ya, I said that, but I got ridiculed for confirming the list was leaked.

Note:A number of GameStops will be opening at midnight for DSi launch, I've semi confirmed at least at the one i've got my two DSi's at that GameDays prices will be active on opening, so if you want any of those DS games..you better be ready to stand in line with the launch people.

Really no need to stand in line... just go the first few weeks of the sale. It took the '2nd discount' to get most of the games to move last summer... these titles will not sell out.
they will have another b2g1 free during the game days sale. it was confirmed by my buudy who works there
My god, I'm going to maul their shelves when this sale hits...
they will have another b2g1 free during the game days sale. it was confirmed by my buudy who works there
sweet...but why put up valkyria chronicles new since with the b2g1 it would be ~$33 + tax (~$37) ?

So I am guessing the game will be discounted at 30% and then the coupon will give you another 10% hence ~36+tax (~39)

I, personally, was fairly disappointed at the 360's selection. It may be my sense of taste, but there were tons of great games that had been released a while back that would of been much better to put on there then those. Incredibly dissatisfying for me.

The PSP looks like it may have some luck, though. I'm not sure on how good Dungeons & Dragons Tactics is, but it seems interesting. Final Fantasy I and II are definite must-buys for me, though. (At one point, I wish they would do this with new releases, as well. But that is deceptive and wishful thinking.)

THANK YOU BAHNKE 1. time to use some store credit. YES B2G1 FREE. this is perdect. man J7 u r so right gamedays is gonna be doomsday

Me too. The only 360 game i will probably pick up is Tomb Raider. But other then that the 360 list is crap. Call of duty 2?
ITS 100% Official Game Day Sale Now starts Sat, night at 9:00 pm, managers were instructed today
Technically the sale starts at 10pm. At least at my GS it does. We close the store like usual at 9pm and open back up at 10pm. We are doing a midnight launch for the DSi and luckily I will be working it, so I can get all the games that I want from the list and keep them sealed.

My manager told me that we have 1 hour to get everything ready for the sale and the DSi launch. We have to gut all copies of the games and put them in bins. I don't understand why we just don't gut a few and leave the rest sealed.

So far my store hasn't got a list of games that will be on sale. Thanks to this site I was able to view the link before it was removed. There are about 10 games I'm wanting. Most of the games on the link we have about 20 copies of each, so people should be able to get what they wanted. We have everything in stock that I want right now besides Castlevania for PSP. Hopefully we get that in before the sale starts.

If i buy val chronicles the day before (brand new sealed) and keep it sealed can I go back and get the price readjusted? Or can I return/rebuy you guys think?

The only reason is I dont want a gutted val chronicles

I'm thinking its highly YMMV because I'm fairly sure that only the copies put out for gamedays are sold at the reduced price, all other (normal) stock of the same games offerred for gamedays will keep their normal prices. If anyone knows for sure please do tell.

or why you cant just leave them all sealed and throw them in the bins...?

and then maybe have one employee stand by the door, or spread the employees around the store and not all stand in one spot so you can watch the customers? i doubt in such a small store anyone would snatch any games if you just watch them. thats my idea at least.

Few things I bet. One, many employees are too lazy to care to watch for someone stealing, corporate would rather just gut games then take chances. Two, they're going to be too busy with trying to take care of customers, esp ringing them up, esp with DSi, this and B2G1. I wish they'd just gut 1 game but then corporate knows that game might not get put back in the bin right away or at all and customers would not be aware it was for sale.

Seriously, of all things to be mad at GS about, I can't blame them for not wanting to put sealed games out in bins. You're just asking for trouble as a store if you do that.
