Do you guys ever fill out surveys? One of the Gamestops I go to has this really obnoxious trigglypuff-type manager that I don't have good experiences with. I buy at local discount stores when they are clearancing out titles as well as local Facebook game lots and whatnot. She seems to want to interrogate me like "where did you get this? Why do you have two copies of this? Where is this coupon from?" Always acting like I'm doing something shady. Thinking of leaving some feedback asking someone to tell her to calm her tits.

I would expect you to take the survey, unless you enjoy the constant criticism as long as you do business there.....

But your account will be under a scope going forward

3 metroid fusions gba I bought were fake. I had such high hopes after getting some legit(I think so anyway) copies of rarer gba games.

If you plan to trade in for the long run I would just avoid the store for the time being. In my area they rotate managers every so often or managers end up quiting or getting fired. If she wants to she can make a phone call and get your account banned. And if she's harrasing you already over nothing save yourself from more bs by taking the store out of your trade in rotation.

Is it worth the risk to buy an item like an Xbox One and ask for a gift receipt? I want to turn my trade credit to cash because I don't want to wait for PS4 Slim deals. A store has already refused to give me gift receipts. I'll just go to a different store and get one there.

Pretty sure you answered that yourself

I'd recommend against that. It's better to buy things that are in-demand and sell them for cash. In the last 6 months I converted about $1500 of credit to cash by selling 3ds' and switches. It's not that hard.. and much less fraudulent. Gift receipt nonsense is just trying to exploit an employee who makes a mistake or oversight.

Interesting but the shipping and fees would cut into my profits. I'll just get a PRO if Gamestop won't be doing PS4 Slim deals anytime soon. I really want to play Persona 5. I already have the game for PS4.

Hey blackbeard, how can I check last stealth bumps TIVs and is there a possibility that most games Will have the same stealth bump TIV this month?
No there isn't any way to check last month's TIV's. There is no guarantee that games will have the same TIV stealth bump. It all depends on the extra trade in promo's and other factors. I was watching NSMB2 so I know his for sure. NSMB2 was like $34 with February's steal bump including the 50% extra trade in credit. In March's stealth bump, the TIV was $32.50 including the extra 20% trade in credit. It all depends if you get lucky YMMV

Ahh i see Well I'm talking about just the base credit without the bonus and I know there's a few games that the trade values don't change at all but they still give out good enough credit if you find them for cheap.

Ok then. I assume Gamestop takes trade in bonuses into account so you will probably get around the same base credit each stealth bump.

Yeah thinking about picking up red dead GOTY I know it was about 17 last stealth bump but it went down to 10 hopefully it goes up to 17 or so agian. BB has it for 11.99 with gcu.

It was the Xbox360/Xbox One version. The TIV is obviously higher because it can be played on a new console. YMMV tho so don't expect it to be the same TIV during the stealth bump. Amazing Spiderman 2 PS4/XBOXONE was a lot higher during the stealth bump so you might have a chance.

YMMV:

I just traded in my PS4 500GB vanilla that was on its last legs and got $195 for it instead of the estimate $170. Even the girl working did t know why but neither of us was going to question it. I can confirm both Spidey 2 and Ezio traded in up according to the spreadsheet too!

Good time to upgrade a PS4 folks!

It's useless ranting and this is the gamestop thread.

Out of curiosity, how does one tell the difference between a real and a fake?
Easiest way is to open it up with a triwing screwdriver. Almost all fakes use a battery in the cartridge when very few legit games actually do. Metroid fusion is not one of those games so it was easy to tell. Other ways to check is inspecting the label for quality, comparing it to legit copies, checking how good the label authenticity looks, comparing the logo on the back of the cartridge to legit cartridges, checking to see if the motherboard has Nintendo printed on it. One of the fakes was fairly convincing, using all the other signs but once I opened it up it was apparent it was a fake.

I also like using the imprint on the label. I found that most fakes do not have the imprinted code on it.

I had a manager here that acted the same. The passive aggressive accusations of "theft" were rediculous. Any time I would bring in a game without a case the questions just came flooding out. If any redbox inner ring residue was left on the disc, she would deny it and she always tries to charge a refurbished fee for disc only games.

Anyways, not wanting to shine a spotlight on my account I wrote a pretty scathing review on Google and yelp for the store specifically talking about her. Completely anonymous and since then she has calmed the fuck down a lot.

Hope you didn't use the presence of a battery to be the sole determination of whether your Metroid Fusion games were fake as that one can come with or without a battery.

Hmm my research said it didn't have a battery. Strange for it to both have a battery and not have it as well. 2 of them were obvious fakes, the third one was convincing enough that you have me doubtful. But I'm just going return them all just to be safe.

Just curious, did you buy a new system in the same transaction? If you did, that's what caused the extra $25 bump.

I can confirm that metroid fusion did come in both a battery save version and chip save version. Typically the board and battery look much cheaper if they are knock offs.

Easy way to spot fakes is if they have those black circular blobs on the board, like this: https://www.reddit.com/r/Metroid/comments/33gfu0/i_bought_a_well_made_fake_zero_mission_cartridge/

Most games that have those are fake, only exception I can think of are some cheap NES games that wouldn't be worth faking anyway, like SMB/DH

Another giveaway is that the ROM chip on the board will have the game's code printed on it. In the case of Metroid Fusion, the code AMTE should be printed on the ROM chip

Labels and cartridges can vary, so I don't go by those much. Unless it's blatantly obvious like with discolored Pokémon cartridges, or someone printed the wrong label entirely. The Nintendo seal of approval and the number stamps on the label can wear off easily, and labels can fade in the sun. Much easier to check the board for the obvious giveaways

And yes, Metroid Fusion can have the battery or not have the battery and still be legit. A simple Google search tells you that... not sure what kind of "research" would tell you otherwise >_>

It does have a battery. I can confirm because I have one.

Wow, that's lame - it says right on their trade-in page online that they give the same value with or without the case.

I've been lucky in that my area has maintained I'd say around 80% really good employees for the past several years. They almost all friendly & honestly helpful, and learn me quickly and then stop trying to push the extras on me. I asked the manager of my closest store to hold one of the P5 marketing posters for me, and then forgot about it. Went in on Friday and she handed me a cardboard marketing container with pretty much all of the P5 stuff they had. Other girl that was working there said that if there's ever any other marketing stuff I'm looking for just let them know.

And fwiw, I never trade in cases to GS unless it's a game I'm 100% sure I either already have a spare case for, or will never own again. And they don't care at all.
