For those with Bulletstorm epic edition, i started it up today and got an update. Took about 12-15 minutes to download. Now i can click on the gears of war 3 beta button. But it just takes you to a screen saying its coming soon. Also you need around 2.0GB of free space, and xbox live gold account.
 
Is Bulletstorm worth the price tag it's at now? I was thinking about getting it so that I could have early beta access, but I don't know if it's worth the current price tag.

it looks like bulletstorm beta owners will be able to unlock bulletstorm gun skins, though i personally wouldnt want another games gun in my gears, i probably wont use em.
I did like seeing the chrome hammerburst listed. ive always wanted a chrome or platinum color of gun ever since i learned about golden guns.
 
Besides the addition of chrome I'm overjoyed to have the Boomshot and Gorgon confirmed. There is nothing funnier than downing someone with a single active Gorgon clip at any range. The spread was so wide I've downed groups and freshly revived players at close range with it off host. It's the ultimate highly underrated troll weapon. If they haven't nerfed the ridiculous damage to hell and back the fact it has a special execution now is icing on the cake. Myself and a friend of mine are going barbecued ham-hocks in the beta with it for sure just to piss people the f*ck off.
 
I was always a fan of the Boltok because if you hit someone anywhere on the body, the next headshot would instantly kill them. Good times with confused dead enemies.
 
Just checking, but I can use the regular version of Bulletstorm to access the beta if I have the code insert that was in the epic edition correct?

yeah the beta and veteran medals are huge compared to the other medals. I wonder if there will be medals added to the retail game. Ill be using the Veteran medal myself. ;)

Anyone willing to set up a dummy account if they get access to the early/expertzone beta? It's not locked to the Gamertag that downloads the beta. If that would be allowed on CAG, that is.

Alright, sorry if its been asked a bunch but I keep seeing conflicting reports. I have a used copy of Bulletstorm without the online pass, can I play the Beta early or not?
 
Im not 100% sure but i would say yes you need a online pass to get into it.

Man ive been trying to win a beta code on twitter for the last 4 hours and nothing. Shit is serious.
 
Well guess I'll be playing the beta tonight! Too bad the damn update is 500MB and can't background download it while at work.

Finally got around to playing a few games and man, I am fucking awful. Besides that though it is ALOT more fun then I remember Gears 2 being simply because everything feels more frantic and faster compared to the first.

I actually like the slower pace... it took me about 2 hours to get used to the gameplay. I don't really like the iron sights for the hammer burst. the longshot is also meh though I only used it a few times

for some reason I didn't get the veteran medal (whatever medal for getting rank 100 in gears 2).
 
I Think the hardest thing I have adjusting to so far is when someone is revving the lancer at you they can take like 3-5 shots (I was using retro lancer) before stopping.

And I think I'm just digging the frantic pace of it all so far, but give me sometime I may change my mind too. Who knows. Eitherway enjoying the beta overall.
 
well I enjoyed gears 2 even with out the fucked up shit that went on. maybe when I play after some rest the "faster" pace won't throw me off.

my kd is terrible but got it up to .75 after getting only 2-5 kills a match in koh... last several 15+ to low 30s so I'm adjusting. I wonder if there's a wiki for all the unlocks and stuff for the beta (not just the stuff that will stay for gears 3)
 
Wow, the game is a blast!

They really need to tweak the press "x" to pick up weapons/grenades though. It doesn't seem to trigger very well often.

Yeah it took me a while to get into it. I havent played gears 2 in forever though. Im still getting adjusted to it and ive played about 26 matches.

Retro lancer was difficult for me to shoot steady, and im still getting used it that gun. The bloom gets so big i have a hard time trying to figure out if im shooting at the guy or not. Ive hit a few enemies with the retro lancer charge and i would bounce off of them. Kind of annoying.

Yeah the hammerburst iron sights is just ugly. It even looks a little cheap, like im playing some awful first person shooter.

Sawed off gun is kind of annoying already.

I didnt get the Veteran medal to unlock either. Must just be locked. I did notice that i think as you rank up the medals actually grow bigger. So they will end up as big as the beta/veteran medal. Which i think is a cool thing. Now only if i could scroll through the players names in the lobby and see a medal they picked to show off when highlighting their name. I hope they do something like that. I mean whats the point in choosing a medal, i never see anyones medal. Am i missing something?

For the most part there was no lag. A few times it seemed like i would roll behind someone and then die, but that could just be my terrible connection, or maybe i really wasnt. IDK. I did have one match where it felt like my A button was broken, and sometimes when i would press A to slide into cover or roll, it wouldnt work. But it only happened in one match.

Has anyone gotten the chrome hammerburst to work? I have it unlocked and selected, but it still looks black.

Anyways, I still have to wait a week to join in, but I'm really excited for it. I'll be playing the ShaqFu out of it.
 
The chrome hammerburst should be called glossy hammerbust 'cause that's what it looks like. The urban skin makes your gun look like its covered in bird poop.

I'm also pissed that the "old guard" medal is not unlocked, even though I have the achievement :mad:
 
It would be nice if they'd open the beta up for Epic Edition owners of Bulletstorm already. Otherwise this is a pretty huge slap in the face for those of us who bit the bullet. Not the end of the world of course, but still very insulting.
 
I love the faster pace. But holy shit. Getting used to the new reload for the guns is annoying. I keep trying to reload the hammerburst as if it's Gears 2 and keep jammingg! Lol
