Gears of War 3 - Release Date Sept. 20

What level is the last in Horde? I haven't tried that mode yet. Would like to know how far we need to get to finish it. Also, about how long did it take Linkin?

50 is the last wave in Horde.

So I decided to go through Hardcore in 4-player co-op. The last boss is probably the worst designed boss I have ever seen in a game. No damage, way too much stuff going on. Nearly impossible. Probably Impossible on Insane with 3 others on Insane. I really hope they fix it in a patch to make it less terrible.

Matchmaking sucks in this game. I have an open NAT and it takes 10 minutes or more to find a match and when I do there will be just a couple of players and a bunch of bots. It wasn't like this during beta.

In no particular order the top 5 things that get me killed:

-Getting stuck on cover I didn't want to be on.
-Running out of ammo for ALL my weapons except the pistol.
-Picking up the gnasher.
-The game respawning whole teams behind me.
-Shooting a charging/chainsawing enemy in the face, it not registering after I clearly got the shot off, and me still getting impaled/chainsawed.

A buddy and I played through on Hardcore and beat the game last night. If this is any type of spoiler please let me know and I'll remove it but - our strategy was to use the hammer of dawn on groups of adds. It probably took us 15 tries before we did that - then using that strat it took us 3-4 more times. It was still insane, though.

Took about 4-5 hours....but we died a lot on wave 40, once we started communicating and staying together in one main area things moved a bit faster...and we had 4 out of 5 guys from waves 30-50.

The lasts 20 waves are ridiculously insane, items should be cheaper or money should be awarded in larger amounts.

One good tip is to switch to sawed of towards the later waves, 2 shots will take the big guys like boomers and grinders down to chunks...made a huge difference and it's the reason we finished.

I haven't been playing with a bunch of bots, but sometimes it is slow finding a game with a open nat. I usually wait 2-3 mins and if it doesn't find anything I search again. That seems to work best just to exit out and search all over again.

I've been playing the mp. I really should start the campaign.
You're supposed to use scorchers on the zerkers
On regular zerkers, sure, but on
lambent zerkers also? Didn't seem like it did a thing when I tried it on them last night.

I haven't had a problem with matchmaking. I hit 'quick match' and it takes about 20-30 seconds to find a match and I'm in. Sometimes there are bots in the lobby. If you check the lobby again a minute later, the bots are usually replaced by real people. At least that's how it is for me.
4 to 5 hours. Wow. And you have to do that in one sitting? I think I'm too old for this. Doesn't mean I won't try, though. :)
Horde in Gears 2 kept track of the levels you had completed. So, you could play up to level 30 one night and do the last 20 the next night.

I'm assuming horde works the same in Gears 3? I haven't played it yet.

I might play some horde this weekend. I still need to finish the campaign, on act 3, but I might just power through it tonight and Saturday afternoon.

It tracks it in waves of 10. Matcmaking only starts on wave 1 from what Ive seen, but if yougo to the Horde menu you should be able to start a specific wave, but from what I gather you have to invite people in to it or youll be on your own.

I'm so confused about executions still. Can someone explain or post a link to what needs to be unlocked and how to do the executions?

Several times last night in campaign I used Y with various weapons and it always just does that face punch.

You have to do X amount of kills with each weapon to unlock them. Check the stats page that has all the character and skins unlock list, its in the same tab.

I played on Casual with 4 other people and it took 2 1/2 hours to beat 50 waves.

And FYI, Casual also gets pretty damn hard for the last 15-20 levels.

Not sure where to post this now but I really need to get a savage grenadier code very soon to trade to another cag on here cuz my code was invalid and I have been unable to get a replacement. I'm trading a dirt 3 steam code for it and need to get the savage grenadier very soon to trade to this cag. Thanks

So is it jut Y with each weapon then, once unlocked?

Also, after playing about five hours last night and testing each rifile extensively, I am ready to proclaim the Lancer a tad overpowered. It needs either it's accuracy reduced, more bounce, or smaller clip.

Another thing - Is it just me or is the retro a lot different (more accurate) in the campaign vs MP?

We played last night with 4 people for ~35 waves and had a fifth person for the last 15. Took us a little under 2 1/2 on casual. Only one that gave us trouble was wave 50.

Shouldn't take anywhere near 4-5 hours, even on normal.

Actually thinking about it, I think we were on the same boat. We had 4 for about 35 waves and them JimmieMac came on and played out the rest.

I guess by hard, I mean shit got insane, but I think in total, we all died maybe 11 or 12 times total.

There was one wave where we had a Lambent Beserker single handedly kill 3 of us in 1 round and another where a single grenade killed 3 of us.

don't cover when someone is on the other side....

All the executions are unlocked in the campaign. So just hold the y button, don't just tap it. Also, looking for some people to do hardcore on campaign. The ribbon I have the most is The double with 37 of them.

I would encourage it, considering it becomes a race to who can jump over and stun the person first and reward them with a sweet embrace.

By reward i mean kill

and by embrace i mean sawed off shotgun

Microsoft told me they would call back with a solution for my problem in 24-72 hours...
I guess that means a week to them, because I called last Friday, and I still haven't gotten a call back.

Got all of the Collectibles/COG Tags now, so I'm good. Getting the Bronze Force Multiplier Medal is going to be a pain. 2-7 is your best bet, but it's still completely random at the end if you get it or not.

I had a great round of Beast Mode on Drydock just now. The Wild Ticker has some great uses early on, but man...saving up for a Beserker in the final round is just oh so satisfying. 7 Kills at once including Prescott was GLORIOUS! GLORIOUS I say! The Savage Corpser and Giant Serapede were really good as well.

Hardcore is fairly easy even by yourself, but I'm up for whatever.

Im one butcher execution away from that achievement. Anyone remember a campaign chapter i can load that has a Butcher? Otherwise ill have to unlock it and do it in horde.

lol man you are really good at giving bad advice.

It has nothing to do with that, it has everything to do with the fact that I can be on cover at the corner of a wall, push the left stick forward and press A and then my character goes to face the wall, gets stuck, and doesn't move forward at all.

Act II - Chapter 2. Shortly after you take control of Marcus in Act II, you'll be swimming in Butcher's.

EDIT: Anyone else have a Flaming Retro Lancer? Or am I special? =P

Yeah its supposed to be removed in TU2 but I'm not gonna take it off as my skins hopefully it stays

I didn't see it mentioned but the ribbon page seems to have a glitch where it tells you that you have a new ribbon even if you've already looked at all of them.

It annoys my OCD.

Thanks, Achievement Unlocked. Now i have 35 of 50 done for 415 points. 5 of the achievements left are playing campaign either co-op, arcade, 4 player, and harder levels. So i guess i should play 4 player co-op, arcade, on insane and go through campaign. LOL. 2 are in horde, beating horde, and doing 10 horde challenges....i think ill try that now.

God, i love this game. But some of the idiots online are going to make me go into early retirement.

Something is seriously wrong if in a room of level 20-30's, im the only damn person who touched the Goal in King of the Hill. Or a Leader getting captured in under 30 seconds.

Yeah it happens for me too. I think there may be an occasional mic/voice glitch where people can't hear me, I don't know. I was talking to people one game, then the map changed and no one could hear me, then it changed again and people could hear me again. Very odd.

Gears is everything I expected though, enjoying the relatively long campaign.

Haha...ditto for me.

Does Adam Fenix look like Walter White to anyone else, or have I just been playing gears and watching breaking bad too much? :p

Got up to level 29 in horde today. I guess its going to take some time to actually beat the whole thing because you need to level up the things you can upgrade? I have like level 4 for the spikes/barbwire/laser fence. But other then that i have level 1 for everything else. I assume it makes them stronger? Not really sure how that works.

Played a horde match today on drydock, the host quit right away, then it gave us a new host. I made a command post, and wave started. We were walking around for 2 minutes or more and couldnt find anyone, so i left. LOL

Took me 4 minutes to find a horde match.... hope it doesnt always take that long.

I have a open nat and tonight is the first night I've had any issues. It took forever to find a game and then finally found all the players and froze. So I restarted the router and I'm trying it again and its still taking forever when it didn't before.

This game is amazing. I'm strictly a solo-gamer, but it's getting me into MP. I had a blast in horde mode, got to wave 20. Now to try Beast mode online!!

I might even buy some of those stupid weapon skins!
