Gears of War 3 - Release Date Sept. 20

Wow I fucking HATE the last mission. It's near impossible on Hardcore.

I've hammer of dawned this bitch like 4 times now and then it keeps climbing on the tower, I managed to get it off like a 5th time and then the fucking theron guard chainsaws me, that was like the 6the time I've tried this shit. Why is it so ridiculous??! It's non stop getting downed and having the AI pick me up, shoot some more, kill some stuff, get downed, have the AI pick me up, repeat, very disappointing and I haven't even beat it yet.
 
Beat 50 Waves of Horde on Casual tonight. For the most part it wasn't that bad. Wave 50 was a BITCH though. We finally managed to beat it when they gave us a Lambent Beserker, which managed to get itself stuck at point, but we had to pry it free. That thing's annoying as hell.

Yeah no doubt. The
infinite respawning Guards
are a real bitch. That fight is 100x harder than anything else in the campaign.

New Horde mode is amazing. I'd love to get a group of CAGs together and go for all 50 waves. I've had the most luck on Checkout so far.

try using the hammer of dawn on the adds. It helped me out A LOT. Just don't use all the ammo. Hit down the adds that are near her when she drops with one shot, then hit her with it, and repeat.
 
I cannot wait until MW3 and Battlefield 3 release so the noobs will disappear and vets will crawl out of their dark Gears 2 caves to start showing up in my games. I'm already pretty damn bored and growing slightly irritated. Being forced to use the Sawed-off 2,000 times for Locust Gold characters is making it worse. My god am I starting to hate that gun. Nowhere near worth the risk regardless of your skill level choosing it over a Gnasher or Retro. Outside of KOTH and CTL it truly is garbage.

Yeah I don't see why anyone would use the Lancer when the Gnasher has nearly the same range. ;)

I'll be one of those noobs that will leave when BF3 comes out; I'm already getting bored with Gnashers of War MP.

I got to Level 25 and got to the Consecutive Match Score Achievement. I still need to get a kill in Beast Mode with both a Wild Ticker and a Boomer. I've gotten a couple more Medals today as well.

Agreed slows down the mode too much. I love all the new changes to Horde but christ the quitters are still out in full force, like clockwork around wave 30 people start quitting. Worst was the host leaving at wave 40.
 
I'd like to play Horde or Beast on Insane if people are trying to go for it. I played with randoms and we got to Wave 46, but 2 guys went idle by Wave 36 and eventually were dropped from the game. We just could never get through that wave with the 3 of us, especially since 1 guy insisted upon never reviving people, even when we were next to him.

Somehow, during that game, we had 6 people in it. I know that could happen in Gears of War 2, but I swore they said they addressed that issue for this game. Unfortunately, the 6th player was like the other 2, and just idled until he was kicked at wave 12. Seriously, if only they had played, 50 Waves would've been a joke.
If people are trying to go through Campaign Arcade on Insane let me know as well.

And this is really important. I setup a 360 Voice account and joined the first CAG group for the Gears Challenge days ago, but absolutely none of my achievements are showing up on that site. What am I doing wrong?

I've been in several games where people literally quit at the beginning of Wave 10. Thanks for helping us fight that Boss, asshole.

Worse is when they quit, were host, and the game doesn't host migrate, so we lose all progress. Social Horde should've been avaliable at launch, and I still can't understand why it's not there yet.

Wow I haven't played much Horde and jumped into your game last night on level 29 and it was a insane even at level 29. If you want to make a run 1-50 let me know. I will probably be doing 4 player co-op tonight as well if we can get a group.

One game we had 2 beserkers on level 10. I could see 50 but 10?
 
I saw a see-through weapon skin on a picture at NeoGaf. It looks like something I'd want to buy. I kind of want a Farmer Don Skin too. Why? FARMER DON!
 
Just went through act 1 and 2 on insane, arcade, with 3 randoms. Nothing too hard, we did get crushed in a few areas that had to be played over but so far so good.

Had a couple of weird spawns where it would put us on the top of metal containers, or on top of a little house hut, and we had no way to get down, unless you had frags to kill yourself. LOL.
 
What a fucking letdown of a game.

Not only did I think it was medicore in comparison to the campaigns of Gears 1/2, but:

- Why has it still not explained why the Queen is human?
- Griffin is going to get revenge on us, but is never seen again?
- What the Hell were Baird/Cole doing that whole time they're gone?
- Who were the guys that showed up with Baird/Cole at the end?
- What was on the disc that Adam gave to Baird?

I know, it'll all be answered in the DLC! fuck you, Epic.

The Campaign drops the ball A LOT.

Does anyone have any Insane Beast Mode Strategies? A group I was with earlier got to Wave 12 on Checkout, but we failed because we were out of cash. After that we went to a Primary Ticker Strategy, but it always phased out on Waves 8-11.
 
First 3 acts done in arcade, insane, 4 player co-op. Only need 2 chapters in 4th act, and then the whole 5th. I wish you could search for a certain chapter, right now i just select an act on insane and pray its the chapter i need. But ive been lucky lately, getting a group of guys and doing a full act with them. Once im done with the campaign achievements im probably gunna go back to horde. That seems more fun than vs right now, and i still have a lot of leveling up to do in horde.

Playing 4 player co-op has some spawning issues. I have spawned on top of a house hut, and couldnt get down. Also in another chapter i spawned on top of a long metal crate and couldnt get down. Then in another chapter i spawned in a cave that enemies come from, and you arent supposed to be able to reach. Then the other 3 guys died and spawned in there too! The funny thing is that this helped us beat the area we were stuck on LOL. Then i was playing and died as dom and my body froze and stuck there. I think it helped because the enemies seemed to get stuck on my dead body, or maybe they were trying to kill him? I dont know but i respawned and my body was still there.
 
I've had more bugs/glitches in this game more than any other. I have a slim 360 and this is the first game that's locked up on me in as far as I can remember. It locked up on the stats page where it always seems to move sluggishly. And of course, as I already mentioned there how it won't take away the new ribbon notification.

I've also climbed ladders past the top and onto a roof where I'm stuck until someone else gets to a checkpoint.

On the truck/on rails section I wasn't even in the back of the vehicle. I was inside a mountain somewhere off the map. It was annoying because I could still get hit, but couldn't attack.

I've also seen numerous graphical glitches such as the wrong lighting effects and multiplayer characters that were entirely their tram color.

None of these are consistent though. So I hope it's not just a poorly made game.
 
I can't get the achievement for playing 10 vs games in a row because host always quits after I smash his team. Why the hell are there hosts anyways? I guess Epic couldn't fund the dedicated severs since no one bought the weapon skins ;)

Wow, I thought the exact same things, but assumed I was just in the minority.

Not only that, but I got bored of the game after the first Act. I really expected Act 4 to jump back to what Cole and Baird were up to, and was so surprised when they just "showed up." I was stunned that 3 of the original 4 were were so forgotten in this game.

And Dom's death was so fucking lame. It's not just the lousy use of the song, but the fact that it was so absurd. He literally was fine to fall from the building, and could've easily made it to the others, but instead they force a self serving jerk off session on us to show off an explosion that we'll never get to actually create in game, and then try to have these lame ass reflections by the others on such a weak death. No symbolism or bookends (Marcus could've been forced to shoot a Lambent turning Dom, similar to what he had to do to Maria; Marcus could've been unable to hold onto Dom from a Raven, reflecting the ending to the first game), instead it was just him driving a truck into explosives, rather than escaping with the others.

And I was extremely disappointed by the lack of Griffin. I can't be the only one who thought Ice-T was the best voice actor in the game. Everyone else just felt...off. Like, really bad. I can't believe that after all of the interviews and exposure they had with Ice-T, he was in the game for less than 5 minutes.

At the end of Gears of War I wanted more. The campaign was far too short. At the end of Gears of War 2 I was bored by the Worm segment. The game was really more of the same, and I was expecting a sequel to expand and add to the series. The beginning was fun, especially while defending the transports, but once they went underground (again), I found myself forcing my way through chapters to get the achievements.

This game just disappointed me with it's expanse. That doesn't make sense, but everything was so drawn out, from levels to boss fights, and even to cut scenes. I foolishly only beat it on Normal mode, and am dreading playing it again on Hardcore and/or Insane simply from the lack of interest I had in Campaign. That's why I'm looking for Cooperative games, I just want other people to play with to hopefully make it 'interesting.'

It's a shame because I found the controls to be very fluid, and the game play really is smooth for me, but the game itself is garbage. Also, Karen Traviss must be a shitastic writer if this is the best story they had to use. I'm so glad I didn't buy the books over the summer, as the people on the Gears Forum made it seem like she was a genius story teller. Gears of War had the best story simply because it really lacked one, so you weren't too distracted with horrible plot holes and cliched, awful dialog.
Seriously, rewatch any scene after Marcus learns his father is alive, and try not to wince every time characters address it, especially Hoffman's reaction in the truck ride.
And I didn't need a political melodrama that distracted from the end of the world battle. It just didn't fit with how Gears of War 2 ended.

The best thing about this Campaign over the others though,
is that it lacks a lame driving segment. I hated those chapters in 1 and 2.
 
I also had a moment where in a 4 player match, i was playing as bernie. The part when
marcus and dom go to save sam and anya, followed by the lambent berserker.
Yeah i was bernie a couple reloads cos my teammates kept dying. Then all of a sudden i was cole train. And i stayed Cole train for the rest of that level.

Yeah, just beat the game on Hardcore and this was the only time I got pissed.
The AI partners are almost TOO good up to this point but here, they do nothing to help thin out the constant adds. I don't think they were even helping shoot the boss when it landed on the tower or even when it was in the air. At least they only died on me once and kept reviving me. Anyway, I thought the campaign was decent but still a lot of unanswered questions like has been mentioned. Guess I'll have to watch vids on YouTube because I doubt I buy any of the DLC.

If you're talking about "Wait, what time is it?", I got it even though the matches weren't consecutive. I think as long as you don't leave the versus menu, play another mode (Horde, campaign, etc.) or turn the game off, it will keep your streak going. It did for me at least.

Level 50 had 3 lambent berzerkers on a couple matches I played. It was pretty much impossible. Got different bosses after we all died.
 
The mp is already starting to bore me in this game. Its where I use to play Gears 2 so much. The mp to this game is almost the exact same to me. Its like Gears 2.5 to me.

I'll still play it though. I really should play the campaign.

The ticker strat worked for the last four waves of Beast mode surprisingly when I played with some friends. We would usually start off as boomers (two of us) and the other three as tickers and once we dealt some damage to barriers and the boomers died, we would all just go in as boomers and try to chain explosions.

Also, I hated Griffin. I can't stand Ice-Ts' voice. I find it annoying and whenever I see someone play as him in MP and I'm on the locust side, I make sure to go after them. >:[

Best Advice I can give you is to play 9 matches against Bots online in a Game Type and then play 2 games of the same Game Type against other people. Boom, Achievement Unlocked.
 
I'm just about to beat Gears 2 and I have had the game since it came out. I'm thinking about getting the epic edition. Anyone think that the Epic edition will sell out or will it be like the Halo Legendary editions?
 
The weapon/ammo pickup time is way too slow compared to Gears 1 & 2, the roadie run camera angle is not as good as the others either.
 
Apparently there is only 2 games i can join in the whole world right now in online campaign with insane difficulty, Act 5. I only need 1 more chapter on insane. I try arcade, and normal, and it keeps putting me in the same damn matches with the same people. I tried to start my own game on insane, the chapter i need, and i literally play for 20 minutes and 0 people join. This is stupid.

Why don't you try inviting people from your friends list? Ya know....me for example. :roll:
