Crisis Core was surprisingly enjoyable. I'm still shocked at how well they handled the ending to the game.
It really changed how I felt about FF7 after...well, playing FF7. Zack is a great character, and seeing an updated Nibelheim Reactor sequence was amazing the first time I played it.

It also makes me wonder where the "Cloud is emo" arguments originate from, since he never shows an ounce of sadness at all...aside from the ending, but I thought that was quite appropriate.

Watch Advent Children. Advent Children ruined alot that was FF7.

FF7 was ruined long before that movie.
What I don't get is the complaints about the linearity. It's no more linear than something like the combat sequences in Mass Effect 2. The surrounding game is less linear, yeah, but it's not really THAT much different. I don't even really think about it being linear, I just love the battles.
Yea, that's the problem with Mass Effect 2. Too linear.
Yea, that's the problem with Mass Effect 2. Too linear.
Lets not forget that my Lady Shepard has no ladies to love.

UPS made me get unwanted exercise in the rain to get my copy of Mass Effect 2 today. And not a light rain, either. Idiots.

I really hope DC Universe Online turns out to be decent.

if it ever comes out. Companies need to stop announcing MMOs years and years before they will ship (and ship half-complete at that).

I don't believe that it's still coming out, myself. But if it does, it'll be the first game with a monthly subscription that I've paid for.

Also kinda related, just got my blu ray Crisis on Two Earths. I bought it used on Amazon for $16.xx and with my blu in the package was Blackest Night issue 7 and the Amazon exclusive Crisis on Two Earths lithograph and a note with the seller's signature asking to please give him good ratings.

I promptly went to Amazon and gave him 5 stars and filled the comment box with praise.
Yea, that's the problem with Mass Effect 2. Too much of it is recruitment missions, the story is lame and the choices from ME1 barely matter.
We gotta winner
Heavy Rain made top 10 NPD, wow!
Wow, that surprises me. I thought it would sell, I just didn't think it would sell that well.

I kind of want DC Universe Online. But I have a feeling it will fail...

I loved Crisis on Two Earths. The only problems I had with it was Batman. He looked a little too frail and his voice was pretty bad. Then again I have a hard time when someone other then Kevin Conroy voices him. But the guy they are getting to voice Batman in Under the Red Hood sounds pretty good..
I've always wanted to be my own dungeon master.
I'll bet. ;)
I'd get Yakuza 3 if the combat and movement weren't horrible.
The combat is the same as the other Yakuzas, brutal and hilarious. I like it. I do agree that the movement/camera control is bad. It makes me want to punch someone harder than Kazuma does in the game.
Box is bigger than I imagined. Almost, ALMOST feel like I should have got it, but..... eh.
You did not get it with
Amazon club?
Shame on you, I should revoke your
Amazon club
and
add it to my account.

It deserves too as well, game is great.

Got a new copy of FFXIII PS3. Played for about an hour. Intriguing. I won't have much time to play until this weekend tho. :(

Indeed. I saw it a couple of weeks before it came out at my LCS and felt the same about Batman. I don't think anyone else really works as his voice except Conroy and Greenwood.

It'll take about two hours or so to really get into it, and the game play gets a lot better when the paradigm option opens up. ;)

Yeah that's what I've heard. I plan on dedicating this entire weekend to FFXIII. This is the first day-1 launch title I've purchased since Valkyria Chronicles.

I don't know how they can even think of getting someone besides conroy and hamill for batman/joker anymore. Greenwood is voicing two-face in Arkham Asylum 2. interesting.

I made perseus my bitch. It was enjoyable.

Ah, another great RPG. I still have yet to finish it though, about 7hrs in VC. Very cool this is your first day one launch title since then. Let me know what you think of it once you're able to put more time into it.

I think they have said that they want to try and make the movies feel different from the TV series. So they are trying to get different voice actors for the roles.

Yeah, I think they like experimenting and they're trying to find the animated equivalent of Heath Ledger's version of the Joker.

I don't think they'll actually find another actor/actress that can pull off that kind of thing that can re-ignite interest in a character in the mainstream audience.
Nah, censored game like it's 1986 < the best JRPG of the generation, so far.

I think it helps if you turn off the minimap too. Lets you enjoy the environments more and worry less about the path you're running on.

One of my favorite things too - the way the other characters run ahead and talk to you and react to things. Also, being able to retry battles.
Enchanted Arms is better then Final Fantasy 13. It has TOWNS. And it knows that Jrpgs are stereotypical so it goes out of its way to stereotype all its characters even more.
what the fuck happened to chapter 3 of NGS2?
Only at first, you get used to it pretty fast and I prefer it.

So for a class I'm making a short presentation of religious representations, themes, parallels, etc in video games and was looking for some more examples. It's for a really easy class and not that serious of a presentation, so it's not SRS BUSINESS or anything. Stuff that I kind find videos of would be nice :p Any suggestions?

So far I have:
Old NES games like Bible Adventures
Nathaniel's scene in Heavy Rain
Second Life stuff
Dante's Inferno
Left Behind game
Manchester Cathedral in Resistance FOM
Assassin's Creed 2 ending
All kinds of instances of holiness/faith and stuff used for priests, clerics, etc.

I've been trying to find a clip of religious beliefs in the Mass Effect world, and Andrew Ryan's view of religion in Bioshock, but couldn't find any.

Xenogears - God is an alien being that wants to devour humankind or something.
Shadow Hearts - The church is evil.

There aren't any in science fiction. Surprise, in the future, they don't need it.

Also, there isn't any in BS either.

what kind of religions?

Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne is pretty much all about religion and ideology...or more specifically, how different religions may assert their ideology in order to shape the world. There's a mix of Eastern/Western religions. Digital Devil Saga uses lots of Buddhist and Hindu terminology. I'm sure you could come up with a nice analysis of karma in the context of the game's narrative (over the course of both DDS 1 and 2.)

I don't remember Andrew Ryan saying anything about religion...he's objectivist. I guess you could come up with some radical analysis of objectivism as a religion :p

Doom is loaded with satanic stuff although I don't know what elements are taken from actual religion and which parts are just taken off of Slayer album covers.

There's a bit at the beginning of Bioshock, when you're descending in the bathysphere for the first time where the recording of Ryan says something along the lines of, "'No,' says the man in the Vatican, 'it belongs to the poor.'"

Yeah I'm probably wrong about Andrew Ryan. I thought I remember him saying some very anti-God stuff in one recording though.

But in Mass Effect there definitely are things. It just has to be somewhat related to religion, not strictly Hinduism or Christianity, etc. I just found a clip of the argument with the Preaching Hanar in the first Mass Effect that I'm going to use. And I know other races have certain religious beliefs in the ME universe as well.
Crystarium is...strange.
It's like a personal sphere grid, and it's awesome.

it's a little more...linear...then the sphere grid. Maybe as things cost more to upgrade, I'll have to think more about which job to upgrade, but right now (end of chapter 4), I pretty much buy everything.

Linear and FFXIII? Psh you talking crazy Possum. ;)
Took out half the challenge. NGII>NGS2.
Eh, NG2 ramped the difficulty up so quick that it was almost nice to not be slammed with stuff immediately... but still, I was confused...

Strange things I never caught from people who played both:
Moved weapons
Limited weapon upgrades
Moved crystal skulls
New bosses
No arrow count

So strange.

Momiji is hot though...

It's not lame as shit, like the license board is it?

HEY EVERYBODY -- YOU CAN ALL DO THE SAME SHIT! IT'S AWESOME! :whee:
Yay, We finally got some news on ME2 DLC. I just hope you can chat with the new character on your ship...
Prepare to be disappoint.

The weapon upgrade I hated how they did it in NGS2, because then money for me was useless due to I wont buy/use items. I liked some of the new bosses, though and how they did the bow and arrow to R2. Plus Co-op is a blast if you live near the person playing and have good connections.

Even if I can't talk to her on the ship I'm fine with it.

corrosivefrost: Isn't Momiji 14?

This might be the image you are thinking of:
nogodsorkings-thumb_thumb[2]

Pretty much all of BioShock has anti-religious themes because the idea of rapture is based on Ayn Rand ideas.

Might be worthwhile
Read: probably not

Darksiders and Bayonetta :)rofl:) both have religious involvement in as well
